I'll keep this short...but anyone in a prayer group or wanting to have a private prayer for my granddaughter Bailey, please do so. She has been missing since Tues night (wandered out of the brain institute where she was getting tests done), has not had any seizure, diabetes or other meds and it has become a life threatening situation. I would appreciate any positive thoughts or prayers for her. I'm not around much this week, I've been out canvasing neighborhoods and showing photos to everyone.

Oh my gosh, it has been so long since I've checked in. Well, I guess you could say that life got in the way and all of that happy (or unhappy stuff).

So first of all, I saw something on facebook that one of my friends shared and was terrified about the situation and that was before I knew that it was your granddaughter. Will keep Bailey and you in my prayers.

As for me, I've been doing the going through things and purging here lately. My room (which used to be Paul's room before life got in the way and sent me back to my mother's house with my tail tucked between my legs) was out of control between my stuff and Paul's things. So I decided over the holidays that it was time to conquer it. I went through everything that was mine and then I've been having Paul go through his stuff too. He has made a bedroom out of the basement family room, which is cool with me because he is only here on weekends and spends most of his time down there anyway. I have gotten rid of a lot of trash and I've invested some money into getting things to make the room my oasis. I still need to help Paul go through the closet (a result of the shoving everything in the closet when he was told to clean up his room in the past) and I want to get a new carpet for in there.

Kathryn is in her second semester of college and it has been a pleasure to have her living here full time. She struggled some with the first semester, only getting a 3.1 gpa and was so disappointed in herself as she'd always been a straight A student. I told her that she is doing great because college is a big adjustment and then add that to the fact that she'd not been in a traditional classroom setting for the last year and a half of high school.
Paul is in the second half of his freshman year of high school and is doing great. He actually has a 4.0 gpa (something he had never done in the past). He is in an engineering program and loving it. In fact, he decided to sign up for the advanced level classes next year. And he joined the football team this year. The freshman team went undefeated and he is already looking forward to getting back in training for next year. He had never played in his life before this past fall so it was great to watch him develop as a player.
 
Rae I can't begin to know how terrified you are but I will certainly add my prayers.


Mishi, the word art challenge was already taken for the month, and I am not eligible to run it permanently, not unless I become a permanent designer, and I need to get my sales up for that. So I had to fill my challenge requirement by putting a challenge in the non-point section. Thanks for participating!

Elizabeth- thank you for the explanation to my nosy question. I hardly ever think to go into that whole random challenge section. I guess...I don't see it pop up. Plus I stay busy with CT work.
I do really love the WA and my page. I'm thinking of uses Cheers on another...we have a newly moved restaurant now closer to us...that feels like Cheers.

Off to post more pages...work on a craft project and then the g'kiddo's after school today.

Rae, I am so sorry to hear of Baily.
I have her and your family in my prayers that she is found safe.
Do you have a FB page with her photo as I can share with my BC friends if they are in your area?
 
Rae, SO GLAD Bailey was found. Prayers for her recovery and healing.

Dorann, good to hear from you. Nothing wrong with going back home for help when you really need it. Sorry to hear that Kathryn's struggling, but being the good student and knowing that she wants to succeed, I'm sure she will. Glad to hear that Paul is doing better too.

Love the word art Elizabeth. I'll try to get a layout done for you, but who knows. My layout days have not been up to par.

Mom didn't have a very good day yesterday. I'm not sure I even told y'all about her fall. Last weekend she fell and broke her neck. DON'T PANIC too much. No surgery! Thank God. She has to wear a collar for 6-8 weeks and she IS NOT HAPPY about it. She has to be in a TCU for a couple weeks before going back to her apartment to learn how to care for herself in the collar. Anyway, back to yesterday... she called crying because she was in a lot of pain. The nurses said they would see if they could give her some more meds to get ahead of it, but she had also just been to PT so that explained it too.
 
It's been a pretty good day here for me. I still have more posting to do plus work on the craft I am making for a friend.

My granddaughter is here with us [-in the tub]...she will have dinner and then mommy will pick up. Brother is with Daddy at baseball practice. They don't need an unsupervised 6 year old in the dark...

She and I planted some flowers and tomatoes plus a pineapple today. Her quote: "The hardest part of planting is remembering where you put the seeds".
LOL - I guess she is right!

Rae I am so so sorry for your loss of Bailey. I am so angry about the hospital that let this happen. My prayers that you and her family may find peace at some point.
 
Rae, I am so very sorry for your loss. I am praying that you will feel wrapped tight in the arms of Jesus, and that he will comfort your heart, as only he can.
 
Carla, how scary about your Mom. Praying for her and for you.

Elizabeth, Ouch! I saw your facebook post and LOL, because of the way you told the story. I didn't realize that it got infected. Hope it is all healed up soon.

Thanks for asking about my Carla's interview. She has just submitted the application and got a call back today. Her interview is going to be Monday afternoon. So fingers crossed. This would be such a good thing for her, especially with Teddy gone. I got her grades turned into our umbrella school. She did really well, this last semester. Super proud of the effort she is putting in.

Teddy left Tuesday and is doing well. He will be back and forth a lot, but he is pretty excited. Tuesday he has a follow-up appointment in Nashville, with his surgeon, to check out how his arm is healing and to see what the next steps will be.

My Dad, has wanted to make a trip down to Florida to visit his best friend from college days. So Hubby left with him yesterday. Dad, tried to drive himself in November, (even though we did not think it was a good idea). He got about 3 hours away, and decided that it was going to be too much and turned around and came back home. So hubby, told him he would be happy to take him in January. Dad won't fly, he said planes and airports are too stressful. 13 hour car trips are not, I guess. hehe

So it has just been Carla, the dogs and I today. We have enjoyed it. :) Sometimes it's nice to have quite days, to work on things you have been wanting to get done. We ate when we were hungry, and both cleaned up our stuff, so there was no big kitchen clean-up or meal prep. :36_1_11:

Anyone, still have Christmas up? I finally got it down and packed away from my living/dining room area, but still have the family room and kitchen to do. I just stayed in the living room today. LOL! (I needed a break from that. Will get back at it tomorrow)

Joy!!! I don't take Christmas down until my birthday (Feb 25th!!!) NOT KIDDING. But my Christmas is my village, so... and this year my village was quite abbreviated so it's really nice to have it still over in the corner. I love it. Thank you for your prayers.

Rae... my friend. I am so very sorry for your loss. I'm just bawling. Sending love and prayers to your whole family.
 
I am missing something- I thought Bailey was found? Did she pass? I'm so sorry for your loss, Rae. I'll keep praying for you. <3

Hubby has cleared his Covid protocols. He never really got sick- just some congestion and he wakes up with that every day, so maybe it was a false positive? Eren and I tested negative, so that is good news.

I still have one Christmas decoration left...it's a little tree with lollipop looking themed things and bows. It will change soon to a Valentine's one. I never had a January themed one.

Usually my Christmas Village stays up until the end of February and I call it a 'winter village'. I never put it up this year. It's just me that does it [ok granddaughter helped at age 4 and 5...], and just not in the mood. I was doing a lot of sewing and crafting gifts.

It's really cold here today. 46 this morning and drizzly rain...and gray skies....brrrr!!!

I made to Sunday Mass at 7:30 - then out for breakfast. My prayers for in need.

Michi, thank you for sharing about your Christmas Village. My mother had collected her own Christmas Village, and it has remained in storage since she passed 12 years ago. So this year, my sister-in-law asked my dad if she could take the collection to her house (she was hosting Christmas) and display it. Dad agreed, but when she took it, Dad cried to see it go. But he was very happy to see it all on display at her home. She put them across all of her kitchen cupboards. They ran an extension cord up so that they could all be lit up. It was a lovely tribute, and hopefully a new tradition.
 
Checking in quickly today. Or tonight. Weather has been beautiful, but it is therefore icy. So much rain in January which is very unusual.

Ok folks... it was SO COLD this morning in FLORIDA, :36_11_14:we had frost - AND were colder than parts of Alaska and Minnesota!!! Our house at 36. Near us 27, and not far away just at 20! For Florida folks that means more than socks with flip flops.... I mean we had closed toed shoes on. and thick layers. Miami was 47 [according to a former college roomate].

I had a knitting fiasco last evening and wanted to cry. I placed the knitting down for just 5 quick seconds to check dinner, and a ghost came in, and knocked off a bunch of dropped stitches!!! I posted to a FB knitting group. They were very supportive. Per - sleeping on it, and looking at things again in the morning, I was able to TINK [knit backwards] and then ladder up my errors. It's probably not perfect, buts looks good and I can carry on.

The Bucs lost their game. :36_1_4:but I had no control over that. We gave up our season tickets years ago.

My prayers continue for all experiencing very difficult times.
 
Rae, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about Bailey. Will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts.

My mom was released from the hospital today. They had to go in and do a debridement on the wound from her knee replacement back in November. While she was there she was diagnosed with COVID so that meant that she had to stay longer. And now, a long road of recovery ahead of her because they opened her entire knee back up.

Paul's school has been closed since Friday due to staff absences. They are closed until at least Thursday and I guess they will re-assess at that point. Luckily, he has been healthy but that doesn't seem to be the case for most people around here.
 
Yikes Dorann on your mom's knee! Plus the covid. And oh dear on the school closings.

Things are pretty good here. Just cold and rainy. It is very very unusual for this part of Florida to have days that do not reach 70. Recently a couple that stayed at 50! Our houses and our clothes do not adapt well.

I'm working on crafting.

A big hug to everyone in the digi scrap family! I hope those who are ill are recovering, and those who are grieving are healing.

It's cold here in Kansas, too, Michi. It's sunny and in the 20s, but we have that bitter cold wind that bites into you. The western part of our state had about two feet of snow, so lots of school closings. At least it's dry with clear roads where I am. Now that my big event is over, I'm going to finish all of the end-of-event wrap up stuff today. Then I'm taking the next two days off of work for a four-day weekend. This is my bday weekend, so normally I like to spend it seeing family or traveling someplace warm. But considering the environment we all live in right now, I think I'll just have a quiet weekend at home. Randy is going to take me to the local Thai place and he's ordered a cake (the man can't keep a secret... ha). Maybe we can go and "celebrate" once this new variant settles down and we feel that it's safer to travel.

Checking in...just more of the same, cold winter weather and home renovations. It seems like they will never end. I did get out to cross-country ski last weekend and maybe if the weather cooperates I will get out again soon. It is hard to get the exercise wheel going again in the new year.

On a positive note...hubby finally got his pre-op paperwork to complete. There is no date for surgery yet but it is a first step in his long wait for back surgery.

We got our boosters last week and it was a breeze this time.

Hoping everyone is doing well, prayers to those in need and keep scrapping. I love to see everyone's work!
 
Happy Birthday Breoni! I love Thai food! I have a cousin that lives in Kansas. I'm not sure the part. It used to be Baxter Springs, but I know they moved.
Karen- hoping hubby's back surgery goes well. I had one, back in 1990. It was a great move.

It's going to be so cold here- [I get the rest is having it worse] but freeze warning for us, and a good chance that iguanas will fall from the trees, especially in S. Florida.

Oh my... I have never heard of a falling iguana warning. In Kansas, we don't have iguanas (and not that many trees, either...ha). This is such a crazy, beautiful world we live in. It makes me want to get back out and travel again! :)

I have never heard of falling iguanas. It sounds hilarious but probably isn't so fun for the iguanas.

Everything is back to situation normal here. Eren went back to school and hubby went back to work. I am back to my alone self during the day, which is kind of nice after 2 weeks of togetherness. Eren is applying to colleges and has already heard back from one (Ball State- admitted). They are coming up on some deadlines and still need to do essays.

It's colder tonight with freeze warnings here and a temperature drop into the 20's. I will need to cover some plants. A former college roommate of mine lives in a condo in Miami. Her condo association won't activate the heat until 3 consecutive days of a temperature drop of 49.
As for the iguanas, when it warms they will wake up, unless the actual fall injures them. Also not good if one falls and lands on someone. I would have a heart attack! The lizards here have gone to ground, during this cold. That part is fine with me. I'm just staying in and crafting today.
