Oh my word, Sherri, that is shattering. I'm sure it shook you up for weeks. So tragic.

We had an update on my sister-in-law's great granddaughter, the seven month old. Autopsy showed shaken baby syndrome. There were adults and children present in the house where she was being 'cared for'. Investigation is ongoing.

Sylfie I sure hope you get to travel, and I'm so sorry about your neighbor. Crossing my fingers you find the perfect place and get everything moved and settled easily.

Aw, Lynnie - I know you are taking the best care of your mum and I saw your layout on fb. I hope she feels better and perks up soon.

Michi - so the final result was cleaning and starting over? Did you have online backup or have you lost all your files? What's the name of the texting Santa layout? I'd love to see it.

Oh NO, Alta - that's awful. I use Backblaze; it's not too expensive. I got so tired of backing up the main to EHDs and EHDs to other EHDs and losing stuff anyway.

Rae and Yvonne so sorry about your pain. I have back pain but it only keeps me from walking around much. I can sleep and work at the computer without hurting, usually.

Gosh, all the Covid news is alarming. I'm glad no one is seriously ill. Reminds me I missed my booster (completely forgot; I've been sick with something mild and sleeping a lot) and will have to set that up again. Probably need to be seen for whatever this garbage is I've been dealing with; may need to get tested.

Those of you who are getting hard freezes and snow, enjoy! I don't want any down here in Georgia, thank you! We've had some overnight freezes but nothing bad. I'd like to keep it that way.

Happy Monday, y'all!

I was able to get a few more personal layouts done for our 2021 book over the weekend. My husband is now trying to "help" by going online and finding logos and fonts for my pages (usually after I've finished a page... ha). He's trying and I think that's adorable, even if his timing is off.

We pretty much just hung out at the house over the weekend and didn't get very many things off our to do list. We need to renovate the upstairs bathroom, so we've started making a list of what needs to be done for that project. It's never like it is on HGTV where in 30 minutes, everything is completely done and everyone is happy. Ha.

During COVID, hubby started collecting bottles of Bourbon. I don't drink alcohol, and he only drinks socially. And we haven't had anyone over in two years. So his collection has grown. So I boxed up our DVD collection (since we now watch movies on the streaming services), and gave him the shelves in our family room. So he arranged his collection on those shelves and now is talking about getting some LED light strips to highlight them. Oh my. I really need to get a small outbuilding / large shed as his man cave to move his stuff out of the house and let him decorate how he wants. Some of the unopened bottles in his collection are 20 or 30 years old. We also the bottles of opened rum that were left over from our wedding in 2011. Does alcohol go bad? Good grief! LOL!

This week is going to be a busy one... still trying to plan our conference that takes place at the end of the week. I've called all of my speakers this morning to suggest they fly out a day early (due to all of the recent flight cancellations). I offered to get them additional nights at the hotel. I've also contacted our IT company to alert them to be on standby if we need to bring speakers in digitally. We'll make it work somehow. I'm also working on our summer youth programs and trying to figure out how to bring high schoolers together in a safe way with all this craziness. So yeah... should be an interesting week. It's stressful, but the time sure flies.

Hope you all have an amazing day! :)

Elizabeth, that's terrible! I'm so sorry! I can't even imagine the horror that family must be feeling.

Apparently Slyfie IS IN MN according to FB. Haven't seen her yet, but she posted "hello MN" this morning. YAY!!!

Happy Monday everyone. Overall, a good day here. I set out on a mission to create a little "something" for a friend...and my FB embroidery group gave me many suggestions. Eek... well I purchased several. LOL. It's ok, on sale and items will be used.
Went to Michael Crafts- frustrated at the empty shelves, but I managed to use my reward...and found the rest online.

Worked at: exercise [yay], and completing the sewing of the everyday place mats for the g'kiddo's... I will scrap them or post eventually.

We were supposed to get rain and a cold front. Nope... Sprinklers on...
And I finished the Bible reading our church is doing for 2022. I'm all caught up!

That said:
Oh Elizabeth, both my husband and myself cannot get past.... what happened to your great niece!!! My heart is so with all of you and my prayers. Such an innocent baby...I cannot fathom... I pray- investigations get to the bottom, but in the end - the heartache remains......

Breoni- Hubby drinks his Jack Daniels.

Back soon. I tend to get lost on pages.
m

Elizabeth, So sorry to hear this about your sister in laws grandbaby, so sad my heart breaks for the family, nothing worse then a lost of a child, and in this way is just, I am a lost for words. I hope justice is served, but that won't help lessen the pain of such a loss. Praying for you all.

Good morning ladies,

I DID make it to Minnesota, we're at my mother's and I am running around like a headless chicken, but we made it!

Got to have lunch with Sylfie (and boyfriend) yesterday. SO MUCH FUN! Talked and talked and talked. Probably bored the heck outta him, but whatever. "As you wish", right girl?!? Love ya. Can't wait to see you again... in September???

Carla & Sylfie...love the photo of you two. Sounds like a really fun visit!

I've been busy with work and CT stuff and of course the dogs. The back pain is manageable again, thankfully. I'm off to the dog park at lunchtime for a bit. Talked to a realtor yesterday (he checks in with me every month or two as he knows we'll be listing the house this year sometime probably). It was good to get the estimate we were expecting to hear. We should be able to move and get a smaller home and not have a mortgage which will offset the decrease in income with the retirement. Fingers crossed it all works out. But, boy, is it going to be a big job to look for a new home, possibly up in the interior, so that will mean wkend trips away a lot to go look at places. The area we want to move to is about 4 hrs from here. Packing up this house is going to be a huge job too. If all goes well, I'll quit my job this summer and focus on the home search and purging/packing the house. But it will sure be wonderful to get to the point where we are moved, retired and can just relax. Eventually...

For now, I just keep telling myself to take it one day at a time, purge just a little bit every wk and figure out what stuff I really don't need anymore. We've been in this house for 25 yrs so there is a lot to sort thru.

I'm getting more coffee and getting to work now. Hugs and prayers for all who need it.

Hey everyone, glad to see everyone doing well. :)

Sylfie and Carla, I love your picture! It's a must-scrap.

Eren has been home all week doing virtual school. After coming back from winter break for just one day, they determined they didn't have the staff to handle in-person school, LOL. So it was decided to do virtual school one week and re-evaluate. One of Eren's friend's tested positive, but we are doing ok so far (it's been a week since they were exposed).

I'm doing all right. Doing a lot of gaming, LOL. Pokemon is my weakness. :)

Rae!!! I can't even imagine purging to move! OMG. The thought sends me into panic attacks. Good luck with that.

Good luck to Eren and your family, Ane. Hope you all stay negative and DL school goes well. We're dealing with lots of staffing shortages here too. I'm just waiting to hear that the grands' district is closed. That will send the DD into conniptions! She flies-off at the littlest things, but I get it. It means driving out here, 15 miles one-way, twice a day to get her kids to Grammy-day-care! It is what it is. We're not there yet, but I fear it's coming.

Yes, Carla...that is a huge job that puts me into a panic too. I just keep telling myself, take it one day at a time, do a few things and it will eventually add up to getting it all done. But after all these years its crazy to think about leaving this house and also moving to another city. But exciting too. But, I know I'll be happy when its all done and we settle into our retirement life. This next year or so will fly by with all that needs to be done and finding a new home. Crazy but exciting LOL.

Today is the same old thing...desk work, CT work, dog park, house purging/sorting and tv binging tonight with hubs. We've got leftover pizza for dinner. Busy day but no stress, so that's a good thing :)

Alexis best friend has Covid, she tested positive on the day she was supposed to get her booster, her parents are so anti-vax and they insisted she visit for Christmas, well her Dad gave it to her.
I am busy scrapping up a storm.
Austin started another online course which is keeping him busy. Its good to see, and is real life practical. Finances, student loans, credit ratings etc.
Myles has worked so extrememly long days in that intense cold, and everything breaks outside in the cold.

be safe.

Got to have lunch with Sylfie (and boyfriend) yesterday. SO MUCH FUN! Talked and talked and talked. Probably bored the heck outta him, but whatever. "As you wish", right girl?!? Love ya. Can't wait to see you again... in September???
dsCLm0K.jpg

is this one of those three degree things? since i've had coffee with Carla and Syl has had coffee with Carla, well then, we have too? lol

glad you all got together.

Nice to see lots of chatter here...sorry I have ben MIA!

Elizabeth, so sorry to hear of your loss, my heart breaks for you and the baby's family.

Anzjoy, I saw on the news that Tennessee had snow coming, I was there many years ago and it was a wonderful place to visit. We already have around 10cm from 2 major storms. That is why they call us WINTERpeg...LOL. Weather is more mild today.

Sylvan & Carla, How awesome that were able to meet, love the photo!

Breoni, hugs, work is hard during this covid!

Lily Ane, your book sounds wonderful!

Lynnie, so sorry to hear of all your Covid cases amongst those you love. It is hard to isolate when it is rampant...sounds like you taking great care of your Mom. She is lucky to have you and I hope that protein is boosting her a bit.

Michi, I am with you, I want to be more present here as well...sorry to hear about your drives. Florida, must be nice to have sprinklers on right now. I just got my new spring garden catalogue for

Alta, praying for you all to be well and safe.

Rae, Managing pain on a daily basis is hard. My hubby is finally on his way to get back surgery. It will be a bit of wait still due to covid but he got his pre-op package in the mail so it is finally real! Good luck on your house hunting, we are considering the same.

Yvonne, hope your appointment went well and you are on your way to recovery.

Ane, I love Pokémon too but I don't have a gaming system anymore.

Sherri, sorry to hear of Alexis's friend, so unfortunate. Austin sounds busy and content.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, keep safe!

Hi everyone... Happy Friday... Hoping all are safe at the end of this week.
Please know , I do read all and when I go to reply here... then I forget.

Rae- if /when we ever move it will be a nightmare! 40 years - same house.

Joy- We have been in Tennessee- and was there in June/July but not snows... I couldn't imagine from this Florida gal.

Breoni and all experiencing covid. My prayers.

I respect wishes for all regarding this virus.Whether one chooses to V or a [no]V- and there are many reasons for both sides - I will say- My prayers are with you, and do what works for you!

My personal is : "WE", my entire immediate, and mostly extended family are in the V category. Do for you what your immune system tolerates. WE add a lot of zinc, Vit. B, C and D.

But then again, most all of us get into a car and drive.... and life still holds no guarantees. [ if you get my drift]. We lost a son, +20 years ago, on one wrong left turn. one mistake....

Back to happy- Christmas stuff : away!
Embroidered another shirt for Sarah.
She watered the plants..

David back to baseball next week and could use prayers on his homework.... and for me on common core 4th grade stuff...

and it's cold it Florida! did not get out of 68 today!!
To speak in 'southern terminology' - that means: its "Right chilly" and you best be puttin' on some socks and some long things to combat the cold".
Usually winter is over by 11... not today.

Good luck with your real estate hunt, Rae! I've been working on my dad about starting to go through his "stuff" and not leave it for us kids to deal with. He has decades of collections, as well as decades of clutter. Oy vey! I hope he can start to go through his treasures and decide what he wants to do with them. When he retired several years ago, his plan was to move close to his brother in Branson, MO, but he changed his mind when he realized how much stuff he had to go through / pack.

I like to watch shows on HGTV about decluttering (i.e. Marie Kando) or living a simpler life (i.e. Tiny Homes). I'm a big fan of only keeping items that are meaningful or useful. (If only my husband would do the same with his stuff... .ha). That's why I love digi scrapbooking. All the memories and none of the clutter! Ha!

Hey Everyone! I have read all the posts, but I'm sure I will get things mixed up. I meant to come back before now, and it's just been a little hectic. :)

Elizabeth, my heart continues to break for your family. I am praying for justice to be done, but like others have mentioned I know this will not heal the hurt.

Breoni, we have an older house, (built in 1969)... so we have been re-doing stuff gradually. Hubby started taking wall-paper down in the kitchen over a week ago. Removing the wall-paper and painting the kitchen was suppose the project for the first week of January. BUT, I honestly do not know what they put this wall paper up with, but it is not coming down very easily. The paper was put up and then the ceiling was textured, and then the border was put up and it seems like they might have used joint compound to put the border up. I don't know it's a mess. So, now I'm just hoping to have this job done by the end of the month. :)

Rae, good luck with the sorting and purging. That is one of my goals for the year... not sure how it is going to go, we will see. I tend to hold on to everything. Anyway, it is a work in progress.

So fun that Carla and Sylfie were able to get together!! I definitely agree that photo needs to be scrapped!

Praying for all who are sick or have friends/family that are sick. We have so many friends that have lost loved ones, at the beginning of this year. It breaks my heart.

So this last week, my Father-in-law from California was here to visit. We enjoyed his time here. Only bad part was that our Aussie Shepherd, did NOT like him. I mean seriously didn't like him. We had to spend the week, keeping the dogs, separted from Grandpa. It made for a bit of a stressful week. Probably should have boarded him when we realized, he wasn't going to "warm-up" to Grandpa, but my FIL didn't want us to do that... so anyway.

On Thursday, my 19 year old son, Teddy had more work done on his arm and leg. This was where he was severely burned last March. This past week, they did a lot of laser stuff, trying to thin the scar tissue. According to the doctor, he will have at least a couple more surgeries. We are thankful for how far he has come. He will be moving out this coming week. He is moving to Knoxville, which is about an hour and a half from us. We are excited for the doors opening up for him, although it is going to be strange for him not to be here. :)

Our daughter, 18, has an interview with Cracker Barrel coming up. She has some special needs and we are still homeschooling but she is doing well. She really would like to get a job. It will be good for her. She and her brother have gotten really close and spend a lot of time together, and with him moving, she is going to be lonely.

We are suppose to have the winter storm coming through tonight and tomorrow... The forecast has changed every few hours... At one time they were saying to expect 7 to 10 inches... then 2-3 inches, then 3-5 inches... I think they really aren't sure what is going to happen. :) I would love a really big snow, for my grandkids. We have everything we need here so we won't have to go out. I have made sure my Dad has everything he needs at his house, so I am really hoping we get several inches.

You all have a wondering week-end!!

Anjoy, We had same problem with wallpaper when we bought our house over 30 years ago. We left the master bedroom for so many years and when we decided to take it down, we realized why they wallpapered....it looks like they may have had some sort of tile on before with an adhesive that ripped pieces of the drywall off so the wall was littered with chunks taken out. We had to redo the whole wall with new drywall!

This week we finally got our laundry room put back together after our washer disaster...a few more things to finish it off and then off to another project.

Michi, Prayers for David, it must be difficult to homeschool. I chuckle at your 68 weather, "right chilly"...we are currently at -4c with the wind gusting to 50k and that is a nice day, off to go cross-country skiing I go with the boys.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Well, Covid has finally come to my household. Hubby tested positive; we found out this morning. So now we are quarantined for 5 days, him for 10 if he gets sick. We missed church today, which stinks, but we did watch it online. This really stinks, because he is in a room by himself and I miss having him around. Eren is getting tested Wednesday and me Thursday.

On the upside, it snowed yesterday morning and there is still a little left. It cheered me a bit. :)

Anjoy and Karen... sounds like you both have had nightmares with removing wallpaper! Oy vey! When my mother was alive, she was an interior decorator. I spent many, many hours with her painting, staining wood trim, and removing wallpaper. Her secret trick to remove wallpaper was to use Windex to soften the glue. However, with some paper, I swear it would just be easier to take the walls down to the studs and put up new drywall and start from scratch! Ha! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Alberta clipper coming our way (maybe you can hold it off Sherri??) hunkering down with -34c and gusting winds up to 70k!

Hey ladies, I could use some prayers right now for my granddaughter Bailey. She was mistakenly let go from the hospital last night (negligence on nurse's decision without authorization) and is wandering around the Vancouver BC Canada area untreated so only has days to survive without seizure/TBI/diabetes meds. News, police, transit, everyone is on alert, searching, but all prayers are welcome in her being found alive and safe without further brain damage. thx everyone. I am trying to keep busy these next few days and might scrap a bit to keep my mind off of it but won't be chatting much the next few days. I'll be back soon.

Oh my goodness Rae; will certainly add my prayers and do let us know when she's safe!

Joy, how did the interview go? Did she feel confident? (in general, I don't mean as in confident the job is hers) I hope she wasn't too nervous.

I haven't heard anything further about the investigation into the baby's death and I doubt my sister in law will find anything out for a while. Thank you all for your concern and prayers.

I ran out to the neighbor's house after dark last week to grab something they put on the porch for me. On the way back down the steps I turned my head to admire their newly built porch better, and when I looked back at my feet I was missing a step. So I tumbled onto their driveway, sat there in pain a minute or so, then got up and limped to my car. Told the neighbor I was fine, nothing but a bruised leg and bruised ego, and went home and put antibiotic ointment on the scrape. I'm just glad I didn't sprain my ankle or break anything. But naturally it got infected and I took my tree trunk leg to the doctor yesterday for antibiotics. Better today! You just have to see the humor in some things, especially as it's a sliding scale of good to bad, and on the scale I'll survive this! Oh, and we did get a day of snow after my telling you all to keep it to yourselves! So that's a bit of karma. It wasn't bad but it did prevent me from going to the doctor as soon as I should have. My daughter's wee snowman was still hanging on today despite non freezing temps for the last two days! (pic below)

Oh hey anyone who is able to scrap can you give my non-pointer challenge a little love please? I'd super appreciate it. It's been up all month with no replies. It's free word art; if you can't use it this month maybe you can in future. It's going into the store at the end of the month so grab it now: https://forums.gingerscraps.net/showthread.php?61429-Mixed-Bag-Challenge!-Host-EMC-Elizabeth-Weaver
Last month my template challenge freebie had lots of layouts this far into the month. Is the echo in my new challenge because it doesn't offer points? I would if I could! It's an extra challenge so it's not eligible.

OMG Rae...... I can't even imagine your terror! That's so scary. Of course sending prayers for her safety and quick return.

Sorry you fell Elizabeth. Glad you weren't terribly hurt. Love your teeny snowbaby.

Rae I am sharing to everyone I can think of in the Vancouver area, I am so sorry.

Elizabeth sorry you fell, and that it got infected. Ouch.

Well, I thought I answered here, early this morning but somehow... it went poof away...
Oh Rae- I saw your post on FB.... regarding your granddaughter. I've been praying. We are far away in Florida.... I cannot imagine the stress. Continued prayers.

Elizabeth- yikes on falling... but I did add a LO to your challenge. Just curious as to why ...its a different one and without challenge credit...not that I need them...just curious. Plus my prayers continue regarding the baby.

Ane- I'm so sorry y'all got the rath of 'C' at your house! Will this ever end!

G'kiddo's today... Homework went well!!!!! I might pass 4th grade [again] .....

A lot of scrapping and crafting here. I need to complete.
