This week has been pretty challenging. I have a lot of school work to do, and I have been trying to work through it, work, and run the mom taxi. You don't quite realize how much running you do for your kids until you've not had to do it for a while and then they lean on your again. Paul's program is five days a week, and across town. Luckily I have my mom to help out some. I take him in the morning and she picks him up in the afternoon.

The weekend looks like more school work for me. I have been emailing and leaving messages for all kinds of organizations to get some questions answered for the big assignment. The problem is, I am not getting a response. The assignment is to contact an organization that deals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and find out how working with the organization has impacted the staff member/board member's life.

I think maybe they are hesitant right now because of the DEI stuff that is going on. So... does anyone happen to be associated with an organization that works with individuals with disabilities?

My oldest friends daughter had her baby boy exactly two months early. He is in NICU and will be for a few weeks at least. He was 4 pounds. It was by c-section so mom is recovering too. Their first so they can spend time at the NICU a little easier.

‘’someone here on this thread gets to meet with Alexis tomorrow if the stars align. I so want pictures.

Happy Monday, all!

Lynnie, sorry I couldn't get a flight out to help you fast enough! :)

I had planned to catch up on some scrapbooking this weekend, but my dear hubby found motivation to clean out his closet and wardrobe, so I helped him, instead. We took out two bags of trash, I washed four extra loads of laundry, and we have three bags ready to be dropped off for donation. I was proud of him for staying focused for as long as he did on a single project. He didn't get to the closet shelves which are full of things that should either be donated or put into our basement storage. But hey, I'll take what I can get.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Sherri, I took a few at every place we visited and we did take one of us together. I hope she is at home now resting, long time being away from Mama!

I survived the weekend! I managed to pack a lot into 48 hours: shopping researching, writing, reading, a trivia night, church, more writing, practicing, the Super Bowl, folding laundry. But the best is spending time with hubby. He gets home late on weekdays (work is 40 minutes away) and often we have places to be weeknights, so time with him is precious.

I am babysitting - the Officer Training meeting went well. I am done with all the clean-up and follow-up, plus a bunch of extra stuff. I am ready for a rest, but not sure when that is going to happen!!

Dorann- I always said that if I could hire one job out, it would be driving everyone around. So I've looked forward to each of my kids getting old enough to drive. The three that are took their sweet time. Only one of my over 16 has a license and he's in Washington. My 16 year old would like to get one, but not enough to ever ask us to take him driving.

Sherri- I couldn't even IMAGINE being away from my baby for even a night, let alone a whole NICU stay!

Shana- finishing projects seem monumental around here! So YAY!

Ane- Definitely a jam packed weekend, but hopefully a good one!

Lynnie- I hope you can breathe now for a few minutes!

My Monday started with a message from a coworking encouraging us to have our caffeine strong this morning as there had been nobody working yesterday, so we had so many missed calls from jail staff that we had to return along with all our other duties. Half the office was out sick today. While work was busy, it wasn't bad, so that's a plus.

Our weekend was fun. Saturday we went to Sushi, secondhand clothes shopping for the Littles, and Costco- the first time for my Littles and they thought the "examples" (samples) were amazing.

We boycotted the Super Bowl this year because we didn't care who won and instead had a game night with the kids. It was a lot of fun.

Hey y'all, I could use some prayers. Just found out from one of my brothers (I have 5) in a text that my mom is in bad shape. She is 77, gets dizzy spells, mini strokes, and has never taken care of herself. Another brother (not local) called me with a few more details, and another brother is supposed to give me an update soon. I feel so helpless.

Ane, that is so hard! Just waiting makes everything completely unsettled - you probably can't focus on a think and jump every time the phone buzzes. Lots of love and prayers from here...

Thanks, ladies! I appreciate your prayers so much!

I have since gotten more info from my brothers. Mom went to urgent care last night and they transferred her to the hospital in a larger town. She's undergoing lots of tests and seems to be in good humor. But my siblings can't find her meds and don't know if she's been taking them. She is the primary caretaker for my younger sister who has been mentally disabled since 2002. For some reason, Mom will not put my sister into a group home so she can take care of herself. I've toyed with flying out there, but I think I will wait until my next-oldest brother and his family move back into the area (soon-ish) so we can present a combined front. I don't want to lose my mom because she is too stubborn to do what is good for her, but I don't want her to suffer either (not sure how close she is to giving up; she is passing all the medical tests so far). I am torn.

I am otherwise doing all right, getting my required things done. What else can I do, right?

And coming from a similar family dynamic, Ane (two brothers... certainly not discounting your sister, I'm very sorry for that), I know how hard it is getting information from men! smh. Your mom sounds a lot like mine was. A little strong-willed and maybe stubborn, cares more for others than for herself, doesn't always pay attention to her own signals. I hope you can get her to see the wisdom in finding a safe place for your sister so she can live a full life herself. Maybe when all three of you are together, you'll find a way. Good luck, my friend.

Carla, thank you for your kind words.

Mom is doing better today. More lucid. She may go home tonight. I just hope my siblings there realize that someone has to watch her now, make sure she eats and takes her medicine. And that they need to find my sister a place ASAP. Sigh.

So sorry Ane! I hope things improve with her health. It must be hard not being close to her to visit. Prayers to you and your family!

I am babysitting today (sometimes I wonder if there are EVER days when I don't babysit!). Husband Rand sent a picture of himself with my Valentine's card. We will celebrate when I get home tomorrow night. This cough and cold thing keeps doing the rounds. The kids get it from some random place and pass it along to me. I get better for the few days I am home (if I am lucky) then head back to them and catch it again. They always seem to have something and they are home-schooled. Well, Bruce is, Scarlett is not even two yet.

Nothing much is going on in my life, other than the usual. I am always busy with Daughters of the British Empire. We have more things coming up shortly and I am preparing for them. Plus our recent scares with the fires are now compounded by mudslides. Our British Home is one zone away from the mandatory mudslide evacuation zone. Our eleven ladies in the Pacific Palisades who have lost their homes are also affected. Those who were permitted to pack up a few things from their homes can no longer access the area and all may be lost to mudslides there.

Well, Scarlett is crying. I think she needs a nap.

Nothing awesome is happening here at the moment, but my Valentine has gifts for me and I have some for him! He's making lasagna for us. We did our shopping last night, so tomorrow I can hunker down and get my essay done.

My mom went home last night. She was eating and walking with her walker. I'm going to keep praying for her though.

So sorry for all the devasting fires and mudslide warnings. I have seen some horrific footage on the news and it looks so devastating for all those folks. I am hoping your cold goes away and maybe in time you will become immune...LOL!

Karen thank you for hosting Alexis she really appreciated it, and I did too. I love the places she saw. And your picture together.

What are you up to this fine weekend. I am babysitting. Scarlett is sitting on my left arm as I type! I mean SITTING on it.

Hi all. Happy Saturday. The past week has been pretty good. My granddaughter did her first solo...in front of about 300 people, and we are so proud!!! It will be scrapped...once I 'purchase' the photos, as mine, were not so good. Plus video my daughter took are ...well from her iPHONE. And now I have an ear infection....

Hubby has joined the ranks of using a CPAP machine. Life has been interesting.

We went to Lowe's today and purchased plants and bird seed [feed] for the birds, and I hope not the squirrels!

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day. It's been cold and icky here, but Randy and I went to see the new Captain America film earlier today and then got our steps in at the mall.

Lynnie, yes, we will be in the SoCal area in about a week. We plan to go to Anaheim and see the mouse for a couple of days! So looking forward to this trip and hoping we have good weather.

I'll be traveling from 2/19/25-2/26/25, so I'm hoping to get caught up on some more layouts tomorrow.

Sherri, Alexis is a remarkable young woman and I enjoyed her company. I told her I hope to get to Red Deer once day and meet you as well.

Lynnie, We had a nice chat but yes it was not long enough, maybe one day I will get back there.

Hubby had a nice day today with family for his birthday (was yesterday). Weather here is dreadfully cold as normal at this time of the year...is is Spring yet??

So close to me!! Maybe if you have time we could grab some coffee or something in downtown Disney!

I hope I get to meet them both, too! And yes, it was not long enough!

The weather here is so icky. It has been raining pretty much nonstop There are floods in the state, luckily not here where I am, but it still makes me sad. So, I pretty much stayed home all day, except for a trip to the bookstore (I bought way too much) and the grocery store. Kathryn and her boyfriend Chris cooked Valentine's Dinner last night (pasta carbonara and ginocchi soup) and then this evening they made burrito bowls. So, at least I have been eating good the last couple of nights. Tomorrow my brother and his middle daughter are going to be in town for the night as my niece has a college visit on Monday. I am excited to see them.

Hello ladies, I know it's been a long time since I stopped in. But I think about you all often and pray for all of you. Days are to short, I can't keep up.
Lynnie- Thank you for the nice comments, I have been posting a lot of layouts with little Letitia lately, she is my great-great-niece. We are so thankful she is here. Her mother has had a few miscarriages and we are so thankful for her. She is named after my sister. My niece was so sick through most of the pregnancy, some days she couldn't even get out of bed. So we are so thrilled she is here, she needs to gain more weight, but they are working on that. but otherwise she is doing really well.

The weather here is a little warmer, but now raining and chance of switching to snow tonight, dark and gloomy. I am ready for Spring. I have been working on eating better and getting more exercise. I have lost 45 lbs. so far. My blood pressure has gone down, I no longer have acid reflux since starting this new way of eating, also less arthritis, and joint pain. So plan to keep going and hope to get off most of my medicines. I love the results and plan to keep working at it.

I need to get to work on some challenge layouts done, I seem to always wait till mid month to get going on them and then I am rushing around to get my ten done...LOL But I love doing them. And I love the kits the designers are putting out each week, makes it hard to decide which ones I can afford to get. That's why I usually go for the ones with solid papers in the kit. I can't afford to buy all the packs. And if I buy a whole collection I can't afford all the other kits, wish I could afford them all. I do buy a collection every now and then if it really catches my eye. But most of the time I just buy the kits so I can get a little bit of everything. Well ladies I will try and stop by again soon. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
