Ane, there is a fun channel on YouTube that has modern songs set to Renaissance music. I think it is called Bardcore, o and features artists like Hildegard von Blingen, Graywick or names likes that. It is not what you are doing, but it is fun and might put you in the mood. I love them.

Lynnie, that sounds awesome! I'm going to look it up. :)

It is, Ane. I think the first one I ever heard was "House of the Rising Sun," and I laughed so much! It was perfect.

Oh goodness, I forgot my fun news! Did I mention Karen got engaged? She did!

She has set a wedding date for 25 October 2025. Her favourite number is five it is perfect fives - 10/25/2025 (or 25/10/2025, depending on where you live!). She is so thrilled. She is working so hard on her wedding :) I am thrilled. I am making her wedding dress (EEK).
Love that, it’ll be my moms 89th birthday. I think. 1936

I would definitely rather be anywhere that was a little bit warmer than here right now. I am not a winter person, I mean it is nice for a day or two but this is getting really old.

So, the kid's grandma's service is on Tuesday, which I just found out today. It really stinks because I feel like for them there will really not be a lot of closure until after that. It is really hard on them, especially Paul who finally started to show some emotion today. I was really worried about his lack of emotion to be honest.

Everyone surviving this COLD?! I think I'd rather be at that music festival in Australia right now.

Same, Robyn! Last night, while wearing a sweater, a sweater vest, and under a fleece blanket, Randy and I started planning our next trip and we only considered warm destinations. LOL!

It is really cold here in Canada right now and it is in Celsius...brrrr!

Dorann: It's so hard when everyone grieves at different speeds and levels. Hopefully he can heal after the service.
Shana: Where would you go if you had to pick today and money were no object?
Karen: -26 C?!?! That's almost -15 and that's SO frigging cold!!!

Robyn, LOL! I had planned to go to Arizona this winter for at least a couple weeks but due to hubby's condition we are staying warm at home. I am praying that everyone in the California area is safe.

Shana, Yes, do share your next adventures!

Dorann, BIG hugs!

Sherri, Happy 89th Birthday to your Mom! Is Alexis in Costa Rica now?

Things have improved with hubby receiving such great care to manage his pain. It also helps that my younger son is still staying with us for awhile, he is so good for our mental health and I went to a counselling session with Cancer Care.

I hope to get my mojo back to scrapbook soon.

I'm so glad to hear that, Karen!

We could use some prayers from anyone who's inclined. We just got word this morning that my youngest cousin, Jeffrey, is in the end stages of cancer too. His doctors are saying weeks or maybe months. I'm really struggling with this. I think the emotions from my Mom are finally coming out, but I'm really, REALLY sad for him and his family. They just bought a beautiful piece of land "up north" and they haven't even finished the house yet. Their only son is a senior in HS and he may not get to see Jeremiah graduate. I'm just sick... and angry. This shouldn't be happening to this little family. I want to take it on me. I do.

Anyway, that's all. Sad, frustrated and asking for prayers.

Love ya. Thanks!

Carla, so very sad for you and your family and of course to your young cousin and I pray he has more time!

Hi everyone!

School is going well. This week I'll study about Renaissance religion. Fun! I have also taken on a new project--playing clarinet in an orchestra for a Palm Sunday oratorio (a musical production with orchestra and choir). I'll be working mostly on my own with a few practices with the rest of the group. Yowza! What have I done? In other news, my cold devolved into a sinus infection. I am not surprised, since this is what happened to hubby's cold too.

Carla, I will pray for your cousin. What horrible news. (((HUGS)))

This week has truly been a struggle. I still have the kids dealing with grief, and we are being faced with some really tough choices. The time is now to help Paul deal with is psychological help. So, we are going to be most likely enrolling him in the online academy for his school to finish his high school requirements and start him in an intensive outpatient program for mental health. He has been dealing with depression and anxiety for some time (and he comes by it naturally) and Grandma's death served as a catalyst for him to say that he needs help.

Carla, I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. That is such sad news. Dealing with an illness with family and friends, especially someone you are so close to is so difficult.

Karen, I am glad your husband is doing better. Family counselling for a long-term illness is such a good idea. It helps to deal with the different things that come up as you care for them. It helped me a great deal with Chris. David's was so sudden I didn't get any help, but I probably should have afterwards. I just never had the time.

Sherri, Alexis must be having a wonderful time. I am so impressed with how she doesn't let her health issues slow her down. When I have a little bump I am sitting in my chair whining.

Ane, Don't take on too much :) We need you here. Get better!

Dorann, Help with depression is essential. You are going through so much, make sure you get some help too!

Robyn, if I could pick anywhere to go today, I would choose the Disney Parks in Tokyo, then would swing by the parks in Shanghai and Hong Kong, as well! I don't know any of the native languages there, but I'm sure I'd figure out how to move around and get where I needed to go! LOL!!! What a fun question. How about you?

My adventures this week will remain local. I organize and run our bi-annual statewide conference for our managers and directors across the state. This coming weekend, I am offering four classes for our directors, and on Monday we have our annual business sessions, officer elections, industry reports and updates, legislative appointments at our state capitol, and it all concludes with our Legislative Reception that evening. So if you don't hear much from me this week you know why. Ha.

However, in Feb., Randy and I have plans for a Vegas / Anaheim trip... so I'll have fun adventures to report after that experience! <3

Where would I go? England, always England. I would see my son and his family, my cousins and their families, and my childhood friends.

It sounds as though you have a busy weekend and week, Shana. They are so lucky to have you.

Carla, So sorry about your family news!
Ane- I'll bet the renaissance religion will be super fascinating!
Dorann- It's SO hard when our kids are struggling and we can't fix it for them.
Shana- the Disney parks would be fun. Today I'd choose literally anywhere but here. Sadly it would the Howard County Jail in Indiana so I could crochet with the ladies who work there. They've been the bright spot in a very difficult day. Neurospicy kids are hard.
Lynnie- my husband's bucket list is England to see where his ancestors lived.

Hi all. Having a rough day at work (Mean Girls Club are being rewarded for bad behavior type thing), and just wanted to come here where I know everyone is so kind and caring. Thank you all for never being shy about sharing your lives and giving each other support. You ladies are amazing, and I'm so happy to be part of this group.

Robyn, I was born and raised in England. I moved to America as a teenager (over 50 years ago!), but when my son was in his 20s he went back there for a college semester, met the love of his life, and got married. They now have two children and I have to fly to visit them. I can only bear it because I love his wife as though she were my own child! I also have a million cousins, two half-sisters, and tons of nieces and nephews. My brother and I grew up with my cousins, sometimes in the same house. We have so many shared memories. My brother and I often go home together and there is always a "cousins reunion." I had searched for my sisters for over 50 years, but we have become close since I found them. I feel so blessed to have them in my life. There were three, but one died shortly after I made contact with them and I never got to meet her. I also have a good friend from kindergarten who lives in Scotland. We always see each other when I visit or she will come here for a visit. She will be here for a month in March/April.

Neurospicy! I love that :) I have two neurodivergent grandchildren. One has ABA therapy for 2 1/2 hours four days a week. He is the one I homeschool. I am fortunate, he has been wonderful most of the time since we started ABA. He also has Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and ARFID. My time with him is so special. The other is in England and I only interact with him on Facetime and only in person when I visit. It has been a long, hard road for the parents with the two of them. I am glad I can be there to help.

Shana, so many big hugs. I can identify. I had the same problem with 'mean boys' when I was working. You work so hard and do so much, it is hard to see others being rewarded for bad behaviour. Hopefully the powers that be recognize everything you do. We do!!

Robyn, Renaissance religion is proving to be interesting all right! So far I've read/watched about Catholicism, the Reformation, Martin Luther, and a few other things. Tomorrow I'll read about John Calvin, the Jesuits, and more. I like your term "neurospicy." I have 2 neurospicy children, and even as adults they do things that surprise me.

Shana, (((HUGS))) to you! Fortunately I don't have to deal with mean people very often. And the people in my classes who are more educated than me (sometimes they are professors themselves!) aren't mean about it. One of my professors told me that I have ever right to be there with my homemaker background as they do with their advanced degrees, and that made me feel better (validated and seen).

Lynnie, you are absolutely right about Shana. You are both amazing people that I want to be when I grown up! Don't worry about me taking on too much. Music is something I let slip out of my life and now that it's back, I don't know how I ever let it go. :)

I have been scrapping up a storm. I am having such a lovely time - but tomorrow, I have to put my nose to the grindstone and get a bunch of stuff done.

Totally understand the "mean girls" thing Shana and I'm sorry. Believe it or not, I deal with that all the time at school. hahaha! (from the teachers!) smh... You're very Blessed Ane. Some in education have a more hoity opinion of themselves and I have a lot of those around me lately. Sad really.

Well... it seems the time has come and I'm headed up to the hospital today. I may be saying goodbye to Jeffrey this afternoon. Pray for all of us. His kidneys have shut down and the senior oncology nurse is giving them the idea that he may not make it much longer. sigh........

Love you all.

Ane, I am Lutheran, so we study Renaissance Religion all the time! It is our "thing." There are a few really good movies about Martin Luther.

By the way, I love your siggie!
