I am having a rough day today. I have intentionally avoided scrapping any of the pictures of my grandmother, because it still hurts too much, and feels too fresh. I decided today I was going to try and do a layout, and y'all. I haven't stopped crying for the last three hours. The fact that it's really grey and gloomy hasn't helped. My mother and sister swear that every time they think of my grandmother, cardinals start showing up. She loved cardinals. There are no cardinals in Switzerland, but I've seen little black and yellow birds on my roses more this year than I have in the last seven years I've lived here.

I worked all weekend, so I am most probably overtired as a contributing factor, but today is a difficult one.

But your layout turned out LOVELY and I'm sure those little black and yellow birds are your grams version of cardinals in Switzerland. Sending Love and BIG HUGS!!!

@maskyra welcome to the thread, please keep posting. I love quebec, it holds a special place in my heart.

A friend lost her young adult son sunday night, it’s heartbreaking to see her so broken when I’m so far away. They are also a heart family but Zack died from a drug interaction, making it all too real that death can be quick and dirty.

The papers are signed! I now own my home.

Now let the real work on the house begin.

The demolition team come in tomorrow to gut the kitchen and bathroom upstairs.

Congrats Lily Ann and good luck with the renovation of the kitchen and bathroom

LILYANN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought about you so many times yesterday! CONGRATS!!!

I'm so very sorry for your friend, Sherri. And it's really hard when they're far away and you can't be there to comfort them.

Can't wait to see the Before and After photos of the kitchen and bath!
And then maybe you can send the crew to my house. :36_1_11:

Not much going on here, Sheri. Working on ending the school-year. I work one day a week during the summer to keep up-to-date with things. Girls are doing well. Anne actually just got a new job, which is a good thing. The company she was working for was not treating their employees well and it looked like it was a pretty good bet that they wouldn't be around much longer anyway. The company and therefore, the employees, as a whole.
We're celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this weekend by going up to our favorite part of MN... the Brainerd-Lakes area, for an extra-LONG weekend. The girls are throwing us a "surprise" party in June, after school's out. All we know is the date and who's attending. We had to supply the guest list. We don't even know what time to be ready!

Sending hugs your way. When I lost my beloved mother to cancer a few years back, I stopped doing anything creative. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. However, after a few weeks, I scrapped a single photo of my three little nephews summer bare feet. Like you, I cried during that process. After that page, I ended up making a small digital scrapbook of all of the photos and comments that were included in the sympathy cards from my mother's funeral. It was gut wrenching at first, but then... it honestly became quite therapeutic. After that project was done, I felt so much better and I was able order copies of the book for my dad and brothers. Later, that book was used to remind my niece and nephews about their grandmother who loved them so. I was glad I captured those memories at that time. I hope you find your way through your grief and back to your love of creating. But take your time and listen to yourself and give yourself what you need. HUGS!

Sherri, it has been lovely connecting more with you and Alexis. I hope it was the first of many calls. I am glad her presentation went well and she will now have more confidence going forward.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Being a part of a high-risk community means that you see these things more often than you should and it must hurt to lose each one.

Breoni, it is lovely to have you drop in. You will be so inspired to scrap all your pictures with your new camera!

Rae, it is so wonderful to see you chatting in the thread. I know how busy you are with Bailey, Taz, the new pup and everything that has been going on. I am just glad to see you :)

Lily Ann, I am delighted the papers have finally been signed and the work can properly begin. You are going to have a little chaos and then a lot of fun in your new home. I am so happy for you.

Ane, did your cold clear up? I hope!

Maskyra, welcome! How delightful to have you in the thread. I hope you come back often! We have quite a few on the site from Canada.

Sylfie, I am so sorry you are so sad about your grandmother. I was sort of the opposite. I had to scrap everything I could on my kids before I forgot things. I wanted to scrap a thousand pictures and all the memories. The further away I got from when they were living, the more I was afraid all the memories would slip away and if I didn't get them down, I would lose them. Plus the creativity, making something amazing for them, really helped lift my spirits. It was as though I were giving them a gift. And you are right, being tired does NOT help.

Carla, congratulations on your 40th. That is exciting. We had our 40th in 2020. We did not do much as a result :) We will catch up later, I suppose and do something amazing when things are more opened up internationally.

Anne-Marie, thank you for being so faithful on the thread and keeping up with everything. I always worry when I am busy for a few days, and it is nice to come back and see you keeping us all together.

I don't know what was just going on, but there was a huge fuss outside. I think a pack of coyotes caught something, there was a lot of squealing and howling close by. I could not see anything.

My husband was out earlier with the dog and a massive (I mean MASSIVE) skunk charged them. Fortunately, he had his high pitch thing that he points at a local very noisy dog from time to time. He pointed it at the skunk and he high-tailed it in the other direction. That is good, or my poor hubby and dog would not have been allowed back in the house :)

Funny thing is, we live in the middle of a town - it is not as though we are out in the country. There just seems to be a lot of wildlife here.

Last night we went to Home Depot and Lowes to pick out the new stuff for the bathroom upstairs... cabinet, medicine cabinet, sink fixtures, towel and toilet paper holders and floor and wall tiles. That was fun. It will be more fun when we pick out what we will be living with in our bathroom!

Hi everyone! I write to you from my home computer. I got home last night and was just so tired I didn't go online at all. Lynnie, my cold is cleared up, and now I'm back to allergies here, LOL! My back continues to hurt, but I start physical therapy next week, so I'm excited to get on the road to clearing that up.

It was hard saying goodbye to my sons, DIL and granddaughter. We may all go out there for Thanksgiving again, we'll just have to wait and see what my DIL's family decides about the holidays.

So what's everyone doing this weekend? We did a bunch of shopping this morning and will have church tomorrow morning and enjoy some family time. Monday we're having some friends over for dinner- should be fun! :)

No huge story Lynnie on that layout... just doing an honor book for my grandson and wanted a couple "brave" pix and the hospital one was right before he got his adenoids taken out, but thanks for thinking of him!

Carla, I am convinced every layout has a story ... I love the stories that go along with the layout. This in itself is a story :)

I managed something to the tune of 30 scrapbook pages this weekend. I don't remember the last time I've gotten through things that fast, but I really want to get to the "why the ¬3%* is my coke in a ceramic mug" picture and I am making myself go mostly in order (the only things allowed to break order are challenges), so I had to get through it. Over 200 pages and I am only at the halfway point, I think.

It's the first of the month, which is invoicing day, but due to internal delays I was working our Application Support inbox. For every polite, wonderful person, there's one who will yell at me, insult my intelligence, and accuse me of doing sweet **** all every day and not even trying to fix their issues. Which is so far from the truth, it makes me mad. And I can't even REPLY to those people because it does no good, and all it'll do is result in more abuse. After today I am going to start flagging certain mails for 'no reply unless x situation is met', where x is that I have a concrete, already existing solution. Because replying to every single feedback mail, most of which are very negative, is really soul crushing. Because of the three day weekend, I had 200 mails to get through. I made about 130, and tapped out at 10 hours on the clock.

My bird friend came and perched on the shrubs long enough for me to get a good look at it and figure out what it is

A European Goldfinch.

An impressive number of pages, Sylfie. I have done a lot of layouts a few times, but it is more fun for me to spend time on them, so I tend to just do a few here and there. The downside is I never get an album finished.

I am very wiped out - or shattered, as we say in England (except I don't live there any more!)

I have had a few incredibly busy days and it goes to show that since I have retired, I don't have the endurance. Saturday we celebrated the Scottish Fest online, but held a might event at our house that involved a green screen, a photoshoot and a lot of food.

Sunday I had church, then cooked a gazillion Cornish Pasties (except they were not baked in Cornwall and did not exactly follow the traditional recipe, so they were kinda like Cornish Pasties!) I think there were in the region of fifty or sixty. It started out that Karen and I were going to bake them Saturday, then she arrived too late, so we moved it to Sunday, then a friend of hers died Sunday morning and she was a mess. By that time I had to cook them. We had about 10 of them, then the rest were shared between daughter Karen and her boyfriend, Jon; and son Steven and his wife, Nessa. Jon's mother was anxious to try them because they were vegan. We are not vegan, but Karen and Jon are. They really were divine, but I do bake everything from scratch, including the pastry. They are easy, but time consuming.

Monday was my day with my dear friend, Pam for her birthday. We had breakfast on the beach and went for a long walk, then went to the San Juan Capistrano Mission and a historical district down there. We had dinner there. Then we went shopping for her present. It doesn't sound like a lot, but we walked around five miles and spend a lot of time taking pictures and wandering. It was a lovely day.

Then today Pam and I had breakfast with another Bible Study member for Pam's birthday and then we did some running around. I had some errands after that, then went to a Bible Study that was moved from Sunday to tonight due to Memorial Day weekend. I am sitting for the first time in days and days. I have to get ready for the weekend, which is our Bible Study retreat. There is a lot of cooking and prep to be done. Ah well, it is all good and will be fun.

that sounds really busy Lynnie, you are still healing take it easy.

Sylfie I love that bird photo, and that number of pages is incredible to me.

I got to book all four of us for our second Covid vaccines, all two weeks or more away, but the fact they are booked is huge. Looking forward to a haircut in July.

Kids are stressed out getting school finished for the year.

Its been a emotional week for everyone for some reason, not even full moon.

My lilac is almost in full bloom, and my peonie is working on buds, if no hail comes I should have blooms this year.

I feel so accomplished today. Some of it is small stuff, like making bed, unloading dish washer, mum's breakfast, usual. I also had a chiropractor appointment, picked up some books I had bound, stopped at bank for laundry quarters, exchanged something at the store and got a few other things done. It is only half way through the day and I feel so content.

Wow, Lynnie, you are the Queen of Getting Things Done! I am hoping once I get my back rehabbed I will be able to exercise again and thus have more energy. Hubby wants to do more outdoorsy things together and I am all for that, but I've got to fix myself first.

I have no big plans for this week other than physical therapy and shopping for my birthday dinner. Whoop, I'm getting older on Saturday!

Well, I'm off to see if I can find some scrapping mojo. It's been a month and I'm excited to dig into the challenges. :)

Sometimes it's just getting a few things done that make the day so much better! I'm feeling accomplished with you my friend!!! Just finished cleaning house. We hop a plane come Friday morning and I'm in meetings all day tomorrow. Now off to finish a few more LOs!.

I will be away on a Bible Study retreat, so I might not be here to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY. You really aren't getting any older, you are just having birthdays now.
