Hi everyone, Things have been relly busy the last couple of weeks. Spring has sprung and we are getting very hot temps right now but the fire situation has gotten better with some rain in the past week. Lots of catching up here...

Rae, how nice you have a new puppy & how fun for your daughter to visit everyday.

LilyAnne, a big CONGRATS on being a homeowner, it has bee awhile and I glad it finally happened for you. Enjoy all your remodelling.

Sherri, It is relly sad when parents age, I know with my Mom it is getting difficult as well. Even though it is hard to see them at his stage of their lives, Alexis wiill treasure the moments with her. Solar Urticaia is one thing they tested me for when I was having so many allergic reactions, along with Lupus. It must be hard on her but she is doing good in the community with all her achievements to improve things for others. So sorry to hear of your friend's loss, drug addiction is so prevalant these days and is so very sad.

Maskyra, wonderful that you are able to join us here, been to Montreal several years ago when we travelled to Nova Scotia. I am in Manitoba and the COVID is bad here at the momnet, we are in our third lockdown. I hope things improve soon! I am almost ready for my second vaccine so hoping things will open up more when others follow.

Sylvan, Hugs to you, losing someone so close to you is really hard. I know when my grandmother passed, I felt a void for so long. I totally believe that when our loved ones pass that they leave a message for us left behind and the birds for you can put you at peace with her being gone, love the photo. With me, my Grandmother love the color purple and that summer I couldn't belive how many purple tulips came up in my garden that first year she was gone, now I do not have any purple ones coming up. I think it was a sign that she was at peace.

Carla, Happy 40th Anniversary, nice for you & hubby to celebrate with family and friends!

Breoni, Nice to see you drop in. I adore your style of scrapping!

Lynnie, Yikes, last summer we had a skunk walking up the neighborhood and everyone was scared tit would nest somewhere but thankfully it left the neighborhood quickly. We live in a suburb but close to the outskirts of town so we often see wildlife, when I was a teenager , I actually hit a deer on our main street that has houses aound and right by a Chicken Delight restaurant, we jokked that it was coming for dinner. It was at rush hour and luckily it was not hurt and scooted off quick. Then a couple years ago we had an otter under our hangover of our house, don't know where that came from as there is no water around.

Ane, It was nice you had a good visit with family, baby time is like no other. Hope you feel better soon, allergy season is in full swing here too! Happy Birthday!

Today, I am getting out in my garden that I have neglected, I have to get some annuals to brighten up the beds and the grass needs attention. I am back in full swing with my cycling however the parks are closed to cyclers right now due to covid but our local trail is close by and I can do the 10k in an hour. And...it is hockey playoffs, Go JETS GO!

Happy scrapping everyone!

Been a busy day for emergency alerts coming out over the phones and TV, the sound almost scares me to death as it is so sudden and unexpected.
A couple tornado alerts, and one with armed and dangerous men about.
Its cooled off some so I am doing laundry today, to take advantage of that.
I saw mom yesterday, as she fell the day before, her arm is really skinned up, huge bandage on it, but she seems to be doing okay, she had a really good day in knowing me, and being able to discuss the kids and stuff.

I am officially gone for the weekend :) I am having a lovely time. Friday and Saturday were amazing and tomorrow looks as though it will be also. So excited.

Sorry, I have not read through the last messages, so just hoping that you are all doing okay.

I just uploaded a layout in the gallery for a challenge and what I usually is do to grab it for sharing in the forum - I click on "my photos" which normally takes me to all my pages but all that is there is the layout I just uploaded. So I go looking and I click on others "Gallery" on their post which normally would take you to that persons gallery and it shows no layouts at all.

There must have been something altered in the gallery... does anyone know if Ginger has been working behind the scenes?

Have you got it sorted yet Anne-Marie? All your pages show up for me when I click on your gallery. Same for my gallery and a couple of others I tried.

Jill, no still looking strange. I click on your "gallery" and there is just one layout there.
I might try a different web browser and see if that might be the issue.

That was so weird.... I turned off my computer and am back again using Chrome and all is okay!..... the gremlins have been about!

Any Gilmore Girls fans here? I'm bingeing it again, and Scott Patterson, who played Luke, is watching the entire series 1 per week and doing a podcast of it!! It's awesome if you are a GG fanatic like me!!

I have been so quiet lately - I'm sorry. I'll keep popping in when I can. I have a LOT of reading to do - you gals are chatty!

Glad you got your gallery problem fixed, Anne-Marie. That's frustrating!

Susan, I watched some Glimore Girls with my DIL last November, but not a lot. I could get really into it without much trouble. ;)

I had an OK birthday. My family was gone for most of it- Eren and hubby were at camp for the young women of our church and got back that night, too tired for festivities, and that's OK. So we had my birthday dinner and cake last night, which was nice. It's the one time a year I get lasagna, lol. My sons called me individually- I hadn't expected to hear from them since I'd just seen them a few days before.

Glad the gallery was sorted, Anne-Marie. I checked your gallery right when I read your post. It looked fine, then I read the rest of the posts. :)

I am back from my trip (well, it was a stay at home retreat. I went away every day and came back at night). I have so much to catch up on :)

When was your birthday? Happy Birthday!!!!!

Mine was June 1 - the big 57!!!! I was surprised with a phone call from my brother, unfortunately with whom relations are strained due to politics (on his end). We had a nice talk with no fights. Yay us.

I am back from my retreat. It was a wonderful experience. We actually slept at home and met various places for the study and games. It was a total delight.

Hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend. Great on the birthday, Susan and glad you were able to talk to your brother. I have a bit of the same problem in my family with my brother. It is not a problem really, there are no big fights about politics, but things can get uncomfortable and I am not a good debater, so I prefer to avoid politics all together, and religion.

Happy Birthday, back at ya! Mine was June 5th.

I will have to tell Alexis, she is a huge huge fan and follower of GG

Gosh, everyone is so quiet!

It is very warm here. 88F / 29C outside. My craft / computer room is in a glass enclosed balcony and it is about 10 degrees warmer in here. I am baking. I do have a fan, but that is not helping me much right now. The hard thing is knowing that it will regularly be much higher in the summer.

I have been working on fun stuff all day. I am finishing this very wonderful program at church tomorrow and we have to write affirmations for the members of our small group (9 of us altogether) and a make a sign to say how the program changed us. I scrapped each affirmation and I loved every minute of it. I started to scrap the sign, but we have to show them in a row and I didn't want mine to stand out a lot. I was too lazy to hand create one, so I just printed the words out.

I have more stuff I want to do, it is just too hot.

Last weekend was my Bible study retreat, totally unrelated to the program above. There are 10 of us from all over the place who get together for a Bible Study once a week on Zoom. Three of us could easily meet in person, another three are within an hour's drive and another four are much further. Most of us met in person for a sort of retreat. We did not go away, we just met during the day. It really was fun. We worked on our study, played games, ate food and had a boat ride. The Bible Study is a Proverbs 31 study based around a planner. I scrapped the planner, framed scriptures, scripture memorization cards and prayer cards, all themed. They turned out so well. If you want to see them, they are here:

We are getting our windows replaced with energy efficient windows. Sadly, that does not include my balcony. Because it is windows on all sides, it would require rebuilding to accommodate energy efficient windows. It is actually not too bad right now, it is starting to cool down. The rest of the house will be lovely and I think it will help with the electricity. We have no gas, so all of our energy is electric here. I have to remember to open all the windows first thing in the morning so it keeps it a bit cooler. We had planned on doing them this year, but had budgeted half the amount that they are going to cost and we got quite a few bids. We are really happy with the contractor we picked. They have amazing reviews and are at the low end of the spectrum cost wise.

Now I have to schedule my countertops. We are replacing them with granite or one of those new granite like substitutes. I am pretty excited to get that done. We live in a co-op and the co-op replaces everything that breaks in here (fridge, oven, stove top, countertops, flooring, paintwork, plumbing fixtures etc) They did the counters when we purchased the place 9 years ago, but I really do not like the quality of the stuff they put in. We will get a pro-rated credit when we replace it. I think we might get the fridge and dishwasher done at the same time. I am thinking of getting the stove top replaced with a flat ceramic top.

We are getting some other work done, too. Window dressings, etc. We need to get the carpet replaced, but we are not doing that until the pets have gone. They are getting old and the carpets are taking the brunt of it.

We also have too much stuff and too much furniture. I don't really know what to do about it all. I love my furniture, I love my books and I am baffled with the stuff. It is pretty organized. There is just a lot of it, haha.

Anyway, it is time to cook dinner! Hope all is going well for everyone.

The girls hosted our 40th anniversary party last night and it was WONDERFUL!!!
I think I mentioned it before. It was a "surprise" in that we knew nothing of the plans. We knew the date and who was invited. We knew what time to be "ready". So, a car showed up. A nice, BIG, BLACK car... not a limo, but luxury car. Took us to one of our favorite places, a restaurant called Casper's, where they'd reserved the back room and decorated it. Almost everyone was already there. Some showed up later. They had a beautiful spread of appetizers and then a full meal. All the tables had pictures of us and them and family. Lacy and Anne had made pretty mason jars wrapped in burlap and lace for vases and Lacy had sprayed a bunch of wine bottles in different colors of our wedding for the centerpieces.
I wish I had pictures, but Lacy was in charge of those! lol.
I just know that WE had a GREAT time!!!

Hi everyone, Sunday morning here and I am enjoying the warm weather and sunshine. It has been quite a week with some very sad news, my brother in law passed last Friday when he slipped on a rock and fell into a river and sadly drowned. He was only 38 and was like another son to us, his mother passed when he was 8 and we helped raise him. He has been cremated and a small family service will happen when restictions permit.

On a happier note, it is the tail-end of Bike Week and if you haven't noticed I love to cycle. It has been a fun time riding with a theme each day. Today is ride to a park or garden, you take a picture and upload it for some great local prizes but best of all is the energy I feel when I am riding. Due to the restrictions I am not able to ride with friends yet but hopefully soon. We are booked for our 2nd vaccine in early JUly so I will feel more comfortable around others then.

Happy birthday to those I missed...Susan, I dont watch GG's but it looks like a good series.

Lynnie, Your planners are lovely! It is so nice for you to upgrade, exciting! We have done a few ourselves over the past year but they are mostly hidden things like electrical and heating (I guess important stuff needs to be done first). I hope for new furniture next year.

Sherrie, I saw the accident on your street on the news, WOW, looks awful, hopefully noone was injured.

Jill, I love your siggy!

Anne-Marie, Glad you were able to connect corectly again, I hate when my computer updates change everything!

Carla, Your surpise party sounds devine, always nice to feel special. Congrats on your 40th anniversary!

It's been very warm here, too, and Eren was out in that almost every day last week with marching band practice, yikes! I have been hibernating inside mostly, except when I go out for PT 3 times a week. I could take the heat better if it wasn't so humid too! Other than that, I've had a n ice, quiet weekend, with the usual shopping, church, and nap.

Lynnie, sounds like you are keeping busy, as per usual. :) I should find more things to be involved in so I don't feel the need to nap every day, LOL! Your home renovations sound like they will be good for you. We are saving up to do our entire first floor. It really needs the work.

Carla, your 40th, how exciting! It sounds like it was a lot of fun. :) We just had our 25th in 2019, so we have a little ways to go before 40.

Karen, sorry to hear about your BIL. Drowning is a terrible way to go. On the other hand, I'm glad you've been able to get out and do something you love. I hope to get more into cycling when I feel better.

Carla, your anniversary surprise sounds really lovely. Ours was August 2020, so nothing. We had planned a once in a lifetime trip to England. I go a lot, but my husband hardly ever goes and we really worked on an amazing trip. We had to cancel.

Karen, I am so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. 38 is young. Was he married to your sister? It sounds as though you have known him a long time. It is hard to lose someone in an instant.

Sherri, the accident sounded horrendous.

Ane, I am not good with heat either. The heat here is baking sometimes in the summer. I get very tired in the heat and it is hard to keep up this pace.

Hi all! Been very busy. Lots going on with MY house/home! It is keeping me busy. We, unfortunately, don't have internet set up yet so I'm using my iPhone as a hot spot. And I'm sure you know how fast data is eaten that way, so I'm on line sparingly or when I'm working at the library.

I fell at work on Wednesday. Thank goodness nothing is broken or fractured just very bruised. My left pinky was bent backwards and I thought for sure is was broken. I have a BIG bad black and blue on my thigh. I banged both of my knees and fell flat on my breast. Had everything X-rayed and all is good. I stayed home for two days and will be back at work on Monday.

It wasn't a great time to not be able to lift things as we moved a u-haul full of boxes to a storage unit for a few months to make room for the renovations. Upstairs should be done in a week or so and then they start the kitchen and bathroom where we are living now. I'll keep everyone updated.

Oh, Lily Ann, that sounds terrible. I was cringing even thinking about the injuries. I hope you are feeling better!

Karen, I am SO sorry about your BIL! That's just horrible and so very sad. Prayers for comfort and peace for your family.

Glad things are coming along on the house LilyAnn. Sorry about your fall. That has to be one of my worst fears.

Sheri, that explosion sounded so scary!

I can't stand the heat either! We're in our 12th of 13 day of 90+ degrees. We usually get 14 for the entire summer! Can't WAIT for July and August (when we usually get them!!!) I remember the year Lacy was born, on July 17th. We were watching our town parade and also watching the bank time/temp inch up to 100!!! I was a LOT YOUNGER then... Now I stay INSIDE!

I prefer to avoid politics all together, and religion.

Me too - but it always seems to happen. I try to avoid all topics I think can go south, then something neither of us dreamed it could happen in happens. LOL The last convo it was about the VAX, and I did not fall into it, but I hung up pretty quickly aftr that.

I have that one neighbor that I don't know who it is but reports us to the town for every little thing!!! First it was garbage piled on the side of the house and a cop even came down to see what was happening. Next it was the grass was too high.

Now they called the town who sent an inspector down because of all the work being done in the house. The inspect said he wouldn't have come if nobody called. The inspector said to STOP ALL WORK until the permits are filed. He gave us a list of 4 permits we needed. The work we are having done is only "replacement" and usually don't require a permit.
Now, who knows how long this holdup will last.

I wouldn't put it past my sister to do something like this. We don't have a good relationship and she's been jealous of me her whole life, for what I don't know. She even blocked me on FB!!! It's not like we got into an argument or anything! I don't know what neighbor would do something like this unless it is someone who stabs you in the back.

Lily Ann, not sure how close your neighbours are, but you might try sending out a little note to the neighbours around you and let them know how long you expect the work to go on and let them know you will have an open house or something when it is all done. Ask for their patience and to let you know if anything is causing an inconvenience and apologize for anything that has been a problem so far. You are going to live there a long time, so you will want a great relationship with neighbours. Make it happy and cheerful. They will come around, I'm sure.

Not sure what you could do about your sister.

As for the permits, sort out what you can do that does not require permits and keep up with that stuff until the permits can be sorted out. Don't let it kill your joy in your lovely new house. It will be wonderful when you get it done... just be patient, even though it is hard.

Big hug.
