Michi, Raggedy Ann & Andy are definitely best friends, just sayin. But yeah, I'm in full agreement about the narrow theme for all the challenges. I think everyone is going to have to think outside the box or use the same people/pairs/photos over and over and that's not so appealing to me. It did have me looking back at my old (class of 1973!) high school year book and that brought up soooo many memories and thoughts of people I'd almost forgotten about...

Hi everyone! Just hoping in real quick to post a copy and paste from the Scrap-A-Thon QA thread, just in case you missed it.
We will be very flexible with the "friends" theme. Maybe next year we will rethink the theme being consistent. LOL Just remember that we will be very flexible, it is supposed to be fun after all :)

Question: The theme for this is about friendships. Do the layouts we create have to match that theme to count? (ie. for the brush challenge can I just create a layout using the brush and include journaling, or does it also have to fit the "our family of friends" theme?) As someone with very few friends the idea of coming up with 30 pages celebrating friendships a bit daunting (no matter how much I love them)

Answer: This is an excellent point that I didn't think of! It was highly requested last year to have the challenges coordinate with the Scrap-A-Thon theme, so I encouraged our designers to create challenges that would go with the theme. To have them go in and edit /come up with an alternative challenge will be pretty hard. BUT you can always get creative with your take on the challenge. You can consider your pets your friends/family, or you can scrap pages of your childhood family/friends, maybe even a fun spin about your favorite movies or shows, or your "best friend" might be a favorite book or drink/food, maybe even a location. For example I LOVE the Giant Redwoods, I could scrap a page about the by friends "the trees". I insist that Disneyland is my home away from home, so who's to say the cast members, princesses, etc aren't my friends?? LOL.

I know it's a stretch, but all of those ideas would work. I bet you can think of a way to make it work.

If you are absolutely struggling please let me know and we can figure something out. This is all for fun, so I want everyone to have a good time, so we can figure something out if needed :)

I am among a lot of you struggling with the theme. My suggestion is to look at the P365 challenges. All they require is that your photos be taken that week, and there are up to 5 challenges you can do for March. (And you don't have to have them posted during that week, just by the end of March) This has been a relief for me. I am aiming to hit the 20, and grateful for those (and the template challenges) that don't have any "friends" attachments for the requirements.

I too am struggling at this time in my life with doing friendship photos. I do have a lot of friends and family but it is almost too hard at this time. I am doing more bird photos and trying to get at least two together and hoping it counts as friendship for my journaling.
For the most part I am doing fine but miss my husband each and every day. I am hoping to get all 31 challenges completed but will be going to visit family the 14th to the 30th of this month.

I'm currently in Nashville at our annual national convention and I'm playing paparazzi for our national youth leadership council. I've been taking lots of photos of these high schoolers (one from each state) and I'm hoping I can scrapbook photos of them and the friendship that they've been forming this week for the challenges.

But not tonight... I'm tired and Nashville is LOUD. I don't think I've slept more than five hours since we arrived on Friday and I'm starting to feel it. Last night, I went to bed, but could hear all of the sirens outside, and then the bacheloretted party returned to the hotel and some of them had rooms on my same floor. I'm glad they were having fun, but wow... I just wish they'd have been a wee bit more considerate of those of us working this weekend. Alas!

I'm hoping I can find time to squeeze in some layouts while I'm here. If not, I fly home Wednesday. The kids have been a hoot. There's a handful of them who love to pose and want me to take their photos. So, of course, I oblige! You'll see some of the photos in future layouts this month! :)

Hi everyone! I made it to Utah ok and been having a good time it’s friends and family. I don’t know why, but my first night away, I always sleep poorly, but the rest of the nights are ok. My granddaughter is adorable and warmed up to us pretty quickly, which is great. Tonight we’ll visit a couple of free museums with the fam. It’s so nice to be here!

I am lucky with regard to the theme, I have lots of friends in different areas of my life that I see on a regular basis. I have pictures of me with friends throughout my life. I was also trying to think outside the box, and I might do some of these:

My digiland friends
Pets
If I could create a best friend, what qualities would they have?
An artsy page of friendship words
A song about friends
Karen dancing to "You've got a friend in me" (there are loads of friendship songs!)
Friends poetry
My family are my friends
Funny stories about my friends
Faith and Friendship
If I could be best friends with anyone in history
Imagine being friends with a movie star
Things to do with friends
Friendship Quotes

Let's share some awesome ideas for pages! If we work together we can come up with a bunch!!

You're always so creative Lynnie!
I definitely want to do a digi friends page, but don't want to leave anyone out and I've made sooooo many great cyber friends. I think I will have to name no names to be safe.

Shana, your energy amazes. I've never been to Nashville, can't see that I ever will. But it sounds interesting. Now Utah, I finally made it to, and loved it!!

I put a couple of ideas in some of the threads where I thought it might be hard to come up with a layout. If you have a particular challenge that is stumping you for ideas, ask and we'll all try to help.

I have enjoyed actually getting to scrap something the past couple of days. I'm really having to think outside the box though on the friendship theme. I foresee a lot of jounaling/artsy layouts without photos but that's completely okay.

Lynnie, I love your list!

Just thought of other friend relationship that you can scrap... Mickey & Minnie, Starsky & Hutch (did I just date myself), any TV couple, radio DJs usually work in pairs, a couple in a story you are reading, Oscar and Felix (The Odd Couple), etc.
Really stretching it... PB&J, hot dog and bun, David Ross painting his happy little trees, pen and pencil...

Lynnie and Lily Ann, love those ideas! Thank you!

I got back from Nashville last night. And no... I did NOT have time to work on scrapbook pages. But I did get a lot of great photos of our Youth Leadership Council. We took the high schoolers to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Frist Art Museum, Hatch Show Print, a scavenger hunt, and a really awful ghost tour (LOL). The kids were awesome and we all returned home yesterday very, very tired.

Hubby picked me up from the airport. He had put on fresh sheets on the bed and I immediately took a nap. He even took care of supper last night (aka ordered a pizza). Ha. So glad to be back. But in all of the fun, I somehow tore (or partially tore) my Achilles tendon and walking is painful. Did that stop me from walking around... no... should it have? probably. Oy vey. I've called in for a doctors appointment, so I hope to hear back from them soon.

Ouch Shana, that injury would be very painful...hopefully you can get it attended to soon.

I have another scrappy question....because I am a stickybeak:) (Aussie slang for a busybody who wants to know everybody's business)

When choosing kits, are you guided by theme or colour or the preview or the sample LOs or?

I am so very definitely drawn to colour, I don't often scrap by theme or buy a kit because of the theme. The designs of some previews turn me off as well, yet if I look at the sample LOs, I discover that the kit has much more merit than the preview suggests to me. Tell me your thoughts...

Me too Jill. It's the colours that draw me in and you're right, often the preview doesn't do the kit justice. It seems like the kits are so big these days and the previews so busy that you can't actually see what's in the kit properly.

Bits of everything, but it is the sample layouts that sell me for sure! The style is important too.

Jill, sometimes I buy by color and sometimes I buy by theme, though I admit when I buy by theme, I often have color in mind. I’m weird like that, LOL!

We head home tomorrow, and it will be kind of a relief. My two sons had a major fight over something pretty stupid Wednesday night and haven’t spoken since. It’s really frustrating because we can’t just send them to their separate rooms anymore, or force them to make up- they adults. All we can do is pray.

Jill - I am about theme/contents/ substance, how much I think I can scrap with it going forward. I very much live a niche life so I am a buyer immediately of things that fit into those.
The page overview just hurts my brain, especially when brightly coloured, I love colour but not all clashed together screaming at me. And honestly I seldom get inspired to buy by sample layouts, yet here I am a CT member. LOL. I love it . It stretches my box.

I got my girl home from the airport a day late this week, and she had a fantastic time on her sojourn of conferences and visiting friends but she is tire. Last trip her walker was broken, this trip both suitcases, girl cannot win.

Son got called to go in to work on Wednesday, much sooner than expected, will be shopping for steel toed boots this weekend. and gloves, and most likely overalls.

Kids Dad and I went to see a tribute band of the Eagles last night, Made up of great canadian musicians. The whole backdrop throughout the show were real old photos of the actual Eagles, I enjoyed that. The hair, just gotta say the hair.

I am up to 12 scrap challenges, did so many simply ones, now I am hitting much harder ones.

I'm absolutely drawn in by color too, Jill, but then when I bought kits it was the substance. I have to be able to use them for more than one event or occasion. I feel like the designers try to get everything from the kit onto the PV and then it's just way too overwhelming. You can't see what's really in there, so you have to look at the layouts.

Hey everyone,
Sorry I've been mia again... I've been dealing with some health issues (Still am as a matter of fact)
Having illnesses 90% of doctors have never seen is not fun!! But I'm still fighting so here we are.
This week is Spring Break for both my kiddos and my sisters kids (for the first time together ever. My sister lives about 1 1/2 hours north of us) so I'm hoping to take a day or two off while they are in town. Maybe I can even break out my real camera and invite my brother to join us and finally get some photos of all of my parents grandkids without them knowing :D

I am getting close to getting 31 layouts done. I have 28 right now and by Monday I should have 30. I am hoping to get some more done but will be leaving on Tuesday for Arizona. I am excited to be leaving the weather here behind and going to see my daughter's family there. There say there is super blooms in the desert there because of the weather this year. Besides hoping to see all the flowers I am hoping to get some great bird photos from the bird sites there.

Does anyone know if there is a "Win your Wishlist" with the Scrap-A-Thon? I thought I saw someone mention it but I am unable to locate a link...any help is appreciated. Thank you

Well, I made it home late last night. I already miss my kids and granddaughter. She's not quite the age where she'd remember us whenever we visit, but I hope she will recognize us when we're back out in August. I'm staying probably the whole month while hubby and Eren will come out for my son's graduation.

I'm ready to get going again on the challenges! I missed scrapping, but hubby and I took lots of pictures so I have stuff to work with! :)

Katherine, that sounds exciting! Hope AZ is heaving weather like we're having here in South/Central TX - Today was 81 and sunny!! (My favorite kind of TX weather)
Although the clouds are starting to move in and we're supposed to have at least one more round of winter storms... My grandpa used to swear by the Mesquite trees - He'd say winter isn't over until they start to bloom... Well ours started so it looks like no more freezing weather!

Crazy days - Babysat Bruce Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and I had a major event on Saturday and a memorial on Sunday (today). I had to leave the memorial a little early when my Grandson called to say that Belle (our dog) was breathing funny and drooling. I got home, and she was struggling to breathe. I have made the call to the pet doctor to come and put her to sleep in the next few days. He has not called back, but he will, and we will take care of her. We have been putting it off, she is so precious to us, but I can't bear to see her suffering the way she was today. He will come to our home and it will be very gentle. It costs quite a bit more to do it this way, but I think it is much kinder.
