Lynnie, sorry to hear about your dog's failing health. HUGS!
Katherine, congrats on doing so well in the Scrap-a-thon challenges!!
Jill, thank you for teaching me a new word... stickybeak!!!

It's Monday and I'm dragging. I live in a part of the world where we still have time changes (at least for now) and they always mess with my sleep. I did manage to get a few layouts done over the weekend, but pretty much took it pretty easy. I see the orthopedic surgeon for options on Wednesday. Today is a day filled with staff and department meetings (oh fun) and then top that off with a dentist appointment. Yup... it's a Monday. LOL.

Ouch Shana, that injury would be very painful...hopefully you can get it attended to soon.

I have another scrappy question....because I am a stickybeak:) (Aussie slang for a busybody who wants to know everybody's business)

When choosing kits, are you guided by theme or colour or the preview or the sample LOs or?

I am so very definitely drawn to colour, I don't often scrap by theme or buy a kit because of the theme. The designs of some previews turn me off as well, yet if I look at the sample LOs, I discover that the kit has much more merit than the preview suggests to me. Tell me your thoughts...

Definitely drawn to the color and sometimes the specific elements. I love looking at the sample pages, as well. But yes... the previews are just a "tease" as to the colors and theme inside. But the theme of the kit doesn't inspire me to buy or not to buy... I often go off theme for kits.

Hey everyone, how are the challenges going? I have completed 12 already, that is already alot for me in one month but I am having so much fun!

I was just notified that my "Hana" layout is in the LOTW. If you love it as much as me and my Hana, I would love you for you to vote for me. Thanks "Glee" for the nomination, I had so much fun making this one and my Hana was a really good sport too. You can't miss it, it is red, white and brownall over.

Thanks everyone, have a wonderful day and keep those beautiful layouts coming...I have been busy commenting too!

I'm mostly drawn to kits by colors. I scrap a lot of pages of kit theme. Love artists who make kits very versatile, getting more bang for my buck. Rarely do I get a kit because of theme and when I do it's because it has a particular element I NEED for a layout.

Lynnie, sorry to hear about your dog/family member.

I couldn't fall asleep last night because of the time change. My son overslept and I woke him up just in time to get him to school on time. He usually walks. If the bathroom didn't call, he would have been late!

They are talking about making this time change the last one. Who knows. Haven't heard anything definitive yet!

Lynnie, I am so sorry to hear about Belle, I know how much you love her. It is such a wrench to lose a beloved furry friend:(

Thanks for all the interesting answers to my stickybeaky scrappy questions...more will follow.

I was very excited to find out that the store now has a function to alert you if you already have bought a product. How great is that!! That function was available at my previous digi home and I missed it here, falling foul of the multiple buy on a couple of occasions...very frustrating.

Interesting to hear that the time change in upover land has already happened. Here downunder, we don't go off daylight saving time for another couple of weeks.

Oh Lynnie! I've had to make that call and it's soooo hard. The day we had scheduled to put down our 16 year old ShitZu, Omi, she passed in her sleep, and now I dread the day I'll have to make that call for Teddy. Sending you really big hugs!! <3

So sorry to hear of your dear "Belle", she will be missed. I adore your layouts, a comfort to remember her. RIP Belle.
Our Beautiful Belle

Good luck with your LO Karen!

Jill, I swear the time change happens earlier and earlier every year! Drives me batty!!!

Steph, we had the same thing happen with out first Bailey. (yes, we had two) Hadn't told the girls that she was very sick and scheduled the appointment for "later" that day. Sent them off to the movies with Auntie and told them we were taking her to the doctor to "make her feel better, so tell her goodbye". Literally, put them in their car seats and watched them pull out of the driveway and by the time we got back into the house, she was gone. THANK GOD she took that burden away from us!

Belle crossed the rainbow bridge last night. The vet came to our home and made it a beautiful, peaceful time. Our house seems empty without her sunny little presence.

So sorry to hear about your sweet pup, Lynnie! (((HUGS))) I don't know what it's like to lose a pet, but I know if we lost Sugar, I'd be pretty sad and Eren would be devastated.

Oh! So Sorry for your loss! I have an old man at my house and I am thankful for everyday at this point. We love them so much much I know it hurts!

Oh, Lynnie...sorry to hear the sad news. My old man, Taz, is getting up there in age, he is sleeping more and has less bursts of energy. Not an easy thing to go through but worth it for the love of our fur babies.

We have had a rough few days at home without Belle. My husband feels it the most. She was his little shadow and followed him everywhere. At night, when she wanted to go to bed, she would let him know it was bedtime and stare at him until he complied. She was very much the queen of the household. He is struggling to cope. We had elected to have her cremated communally and her ashes scattered at sea. At the end of the day, I changed that and had her cremated, and her ashes returned to us. We will pick them up tomorrow.

I am feeling a little overwhelmed. I am gone three days a week at my son's house babysitting. I have so much other stuff going on that I have to fit into my other four days. I am just tired. I also walk five miles daily (for the last 158 days, including Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year, etc.) I need a holiday but can't break my 158 days streak.

I am off to make tea for my son, who works from home today.

Hi y'all, Lynnie, Sorry to hear about your Belle. My Bella is my sidekick. I also have a cat (Sweet Tea). I do take care of my Grandpuppy. It looks like I may end up adopting him, as my daughter will soon be going to school to be a truck diver, and he doesn't travel well.

I enjoyed catching up on the chats. I look forward to getting to know some of you better.

Lori

Lynnie - I hope that life settles for you and you don't feel so overwhelmed. Be careful not to get run down.

I'm happily settled into my life here in the smaller city. We're coming up to our one year anniversary on Apr 1st. It's not perfect (there are no doctors here so only online consults and hospital emergency dept which is overworked and understaffed so you only go there for dire emergencies). Getting repairs done takes a long time here (all industries are understaffed here). We are waiting for a landscaper and no idea when that will happen. But, in general, I love it here. It is quieter, slower, friendlier and there is a raw beauty to the landscape that takes my breath away. I've been enjoying getting out to explore and photographing the wildlife here.

Spring is slow to come but the snow has melted and it is starting to warm up. Birding season is starting soon.

Hope you all are well.

@rae, I love your pictures from the "other side", although I have visited that area I really had no idea what it was like year round till you moved there.
@Lynnie take care
I fell again this week, into a snow bank but it was a hard one. Then my GI issues started a full fledged rebel over something, I had literally been in bed for most of the week. Just not feeling well.
My boy worked his first day of work. Being on his feet for 5 hours straight was new to him, wearing heavier steel toed boots even stranger.
Alberta had two RCMP officers killed responding to a domestic disturbance, ambushed by a 16 year old who had also seriously wounded his mother. I lived in Edmonton, for many years, and we actually left 25 years ago because of the increase in violence back then. It's horrific.

Lori, I am glad to see you chatting in the thread. We really do have some lovely chats here and keep up on each other's lives. Thank you for your sympathy.

I remember when you moved. I love the pictures of your new place. You have always done some beautiful nature pictures and the ones here are just gorgeous. Sorry to hear Taz is slowing down. It seems just yesterday he was young and spritely. How are you coping with the loss of Bailey? I know it has been over a year (last November?) but that is no time at all when you are grieving and it was such a tragedy.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Your health challenges (both you and A) are pretty overwhelming. I don't know how you cope. She is such an inspiration. I am so lucky to know you both on a more personal level. It is another dimension when you actually have spent time on zoom/facetime calls with our cyber friends :) I feel like I know you so much better.

At the beginning of COVID, we organized a Zoom call and it was such fun. I am thinking it might be fun to do that again!

Would love to again.

Rae, I can't believe it's been a year! Wow. Your pix have been beautiful.
Sherri, so sorry you fell again. Hope you feel well soon. These officers put their lives in danger daily. To think that children are committing the offenses now too makes me so sad.
I'd love to do a zoom call and see everyone's faces again, Lynnie!
We lost another friend yesterday. We were up north at our nephew's house for a game day with the family and Freddy started getting phone calls and texts, one after another, so he finally answered one and sort of bowed out of the game. I wasn't really paying attention and his attitude didn't change outwardly. When we got back in the car to leave, he told me. He should have known better because I burst into tears. This guy was just too sweet. He was actually good friends with both of his ex-wives. He spent all holidays with the last one and their sons. We're not sure what happened yet. He's gone and I'm just so sad. Freddy and Rich crashed one of (The Legion) bartenders weddings out in Vegas several years ago. Totally last minute. Rich worked for Sun Country and said to Freddy, "Let's hop a flight and just show up at Sarah's wedding! What's she gonna do? Kick us out?" So they did. They snuck in the back of the chapel, after the ceremony started and waited until she and Mike turned around and walked down the aisle and then they stood up and started WHOOPING IT UP and APPLAUDING!!! She started BAWLING; she was so excited! She had her four guys down at "that end of the bar" and they were her special "uncles". Now there are three.

Carla, I am so sad to hear about the loss of your friend. It always surprises me when someone I care for dies or even someone I know well. I am still in contact with many people from high school, and the memorial board grows yearly. I dread losing a close friend. Mostly, the heartbreaking losses in my life have been family. Anyway, a big hug to you.
.

I have never posted here and did not know about. I found it by mistake but it is a great mistake. I would love to get to know some of the people who I see there pages but do not know much about them. I can see a lot of things in common with me. I am older, a Grandmother, have health issues, loss someone who we loved and defiantly all love digital scrapbooking maybe to the point of addiction. But a good addiction.
I lost my husband in 2014 and recently loss my oldest daughter in January. I have another daughter and three grandchildren.
I now have to take care of 2 oldest grandkids after school. Sybil is almost 10 and Allen who is 12..I am sure you have seen them if you look in my layout. They are the subject in just about all of my pages.

I would love to join the Zoom call. My time zone and state is already listed. I am from Columbia, South Carolina.

Good morning ladies. I've been editing some photos from a get-together yesterday and then after lunch will be staking a wide child's metal gate across a corner of the yard where the bird feeder station is. Taz keeps eating all the fallen birdseed there and I know its not good for him. So, a metal gate will keep him out but enable me to get in there to take care of the feeders. I was going to go for a photo drive today with Remi but will wait until tomorrow since we'll be busy in the yard. Later we'll catch up on last weeks' Big Brother (3 episodes).

Sherri (and Carla and Lynnie) - Thx for your kind words about my photos.

I am enjoying the wildlife out here. So sorry about your fall and then GI problems. All I can say is...ugh! Hope this week you feel better. It was so sad about the RCMP officers, it has been all over our news.

Lynnie - We lost Bailey at the end of January last year and am coming up to our first year here in Kamloops. Last year was weird. I felt fine (or so I thought) a lot of the time but looking back, I can see that I was unfocused a lot, had a shorter attention span, I kept trying to find ways to feel ok but a lot of time I was kind of zoned out. Because it has truly gotten much better for me, I can see that I was not as "together" as I thought I was last year. Thank goodness for my photography which is what really helped me to relax, to get out of my head and enjoy the new city and wildlife around me. Even the cruise to Alaska we went on in Sept last year was dampened by our grieving and although we enjoyed the cruise, it was mostly about doing nothing, relaxing, eating tons of food and trying to enjoy the surroundings. This year it feels different. I truly feel joy everyday, am thankful for where we moved and that we are together. I'm so excited about another upcoming cruise (in a month) and I know that we will really have fun this time. Jen is still in therapy, is having a much harder time, but she is here with us, she has Bella (mini aussiedoodle) and slowly she will heal.

Whew, that was a long answer to your question, sorry about that.

Carla - yes, I agree, a zoom call would be fun. I remember the one at the beginning of covid. I still remember how much trouble I had with the volume, hope it'll be easier next time.

I hear hubs downstairs, clanging and banging away, so I think he is getting the gate ready to take out. I'd better go. HAGD everyone.

OK, now I see that Lynnie has some times for a zoom. I can try to be around for 2 (my time) next Sunday but if anyone wants it a bit later, I'm even better with that b/c I often am out on photo walks with a friend on Sunday but I'd love to try to join in. It's been a long time.
