Shana, have you thought about putting a transparent logo stamp on part of the photo so you are automatically credited. I am not talking about obscuring the photo, just including your name on there. It is quite common with awesome photographers.

Shana - I agree a small watermark on the photo, and the details in the photo details credited to you. I am not sure what exactly its called, but its the inner part of the details of the photo description.

Lynnie - Austin was stubborn and is stubborn about food like that. You cannot force a kid to eat, especially at that age, and making a war over it makes the issue worse. but its scary to have a kid not eat.

We have a heat wave for us this week. 30degrees celcius or higher over the next 5 days, thats a little over 80 F I think. No cooling in the evening, and the lightning storms are without rain, so start fires more.

I finished something today I have been working on for months. What a great feeling of satisfaction.

Yes, I've spoken to other local photographers about adding a watermark to my images. However, I am NOT a professional photographer nor do I want to be one. Many of my photographer friends said that most people either ignore the watermarks or crop them out, so they put the marks across their photos. So since it's more about my vanity than it is a business, I think I'll just let it go. A lot of the families could never afford photos, so I consider this part of my community service to the town. It's just that I have an ego and like to get shout outs when they actually use the photos. (What's that song... you're so vain....??? LOL!)

Sherri, sorry to hear about your heat. We've had heat wave after heat wave this summer, but it's cooled a little this week. T-storms without rain are the worst!

We had a great time watching drum & bugle corps in Indianapolis last weekend. It's about 3 1/2 hour drive for us, so an easy trip. The only thing I don't like about trips is the stadium foods you're sort of forced to buy. Ick! But we still had fun walking around downtown Indy and buying merch from our favorite corps.

Next Sunday is when we leave to drop off Eren at college in New Jersey. We're driving 2 days to get there, staying 1 day, and 2 days back. It's exciting and sad to think we will be empty nesters.

Shana, I know a lot of amateur photographers who still put watermarks on the photos so they're rightfully claimed. And if people are cropping it out, I sincerely hope they're only using it for their own scrapbooking or personal framing. Anything else would be terrible. Just my opinion. If your photos are good enough for people to want, they're good enough for you to claim.

Lynnie, Bruce sounds like my youngest when he was that age. Skinny as a rail due to lack of calories he ate. I also have to upgrade my computer and shutter at the time it will take me to get ready for it.

Sherri, I see the storms your way, I seem to watching Alberta weather more that my youngest is in Banff. Hope you are on the mend from your fall!

Ane, I would love to see the Instagram page of your cat, let me know how I can find it.

Shana, Our Fall Corn Fest is at the end of the month, hope ours is just as fun as your was.

Super hot here the past couple days, very humid makes outdoor activity hard but I persevered and got on my bike a few days this week. I did a bit of gardening, mainly weeding that has been neglected and the rain is not helping my veggie patch. Luckily I belong to a local Facebook Group that gifts almost anything. I gifted most of my rhubarb, just not in the mood to make jam right now...and I was gifted back some fresh cucumbers, lettuce and beets. Such a wonderful community we have, always sharing and caring.

I was surprised this morning to see that my "Breakfast Club" layout is featured on yesterdays Blog, my first time. You can see it here: https://gingerscraps.net/gsblog/2022/08/tutorial-tuesday-individual-style-12/.

I had the honor of visiting a dear friend (also known as "The Crazy Plant Lady). Her yard is an oasis and the envy of all gardeners. It was by chance that I was picking up a sewing desk from her neighbor and she invited me in to sit for awhile. I so enjoyed her company and her yard. She took a photo of me beside her Petunia Waterfall, so love this gal! Look for the layout soon, LOL.

Off to do some "real" housework but it feels good to get back scrapping and chatting. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

It is so lovely to see what is going on in everyone's lives. :)

Shana - I would still put the watermark on. If someone crops it for personal use, that is okay. Mostly, though, if they want to share them, they won't go through the effort and the credit will be forwarded it with it. I have a friend who always did the most amazing underwater photography and she always watermarked hers. None of them were for sale, it was just for fun. I think it is worth making the effort. Just a small one in the corner. People appreciate getting pictures, so I am sure it would be understood.

The weather is crazy across the world. We have had 100 degree weather here with over 90% humidity. I do a Chi Kung class twice a week and it has been insanely difficult. By the time I get home, I have walked two miles and done an hour and fifteen minutes of Chi Kung. I am feeling the heat for sure. It is the humidity, too. We are not used to it being quite so high here. For those of you who are impressed with my dedication, I do it with a friend and have been known to only go when she goes. Today I went for the first time by myself because she was sick. We have not been doing it long and it is slow and easy and I feel so much better for having done it.

I have been designing cards for sale with my Daughters of the British Empire group. We sell to support a retirement home. It is so difficult, because so many graphics are not for commercial use (understandably). Anyway, I had this bright idea to design a card and it turned out so well. I printed a few to see if they would sell well and by jove, I printed 20 and they were gone in a few minutes. I have designed more along those lines for our next meeting. They are pretty simple, but strike at the heart of us Brits :)

Early night for me tonight, I think. I yawned all the way through my weekly Bible Study (on zoom!) We have been meeting for almost three years now and have only missed a week or two. We have a lovely group of ladies and enjoy our studies.

Anyway, it is lovely to hear from you all. Cheers!

Thank you all for the great advice. Sherri, I've already added all of my detailed information in the Metadata so I can "prove" that those images are mine if ever needed. But I'll look into putting a watermark on the photos and learning how to add that to an entire batch to streamline the process.

I took a couple days off work this week and so glad I did. Yesterday, hubby and I went to a zoo and the weather was actually perfect. It's been so hot and humid, but we had a bit of a cold front and it was actually nice to be outside... yesterday. Today, not so much! LOL! I wenet for my walk early this morning just as the sun was coming up. We then went out to the cemetery and cleaned up our son's grave and put fresh flowers, so it was looking really nice. But it was getting hot by the time we were done. We are home now, but will head back into town so Randy will walk with me... but we'll head to the shopping mall for that (air conditioned, even ground, hardly anyone there... it's a good place to walk).

Karen - congrats on your layout being featured! :) YAY!

Lynnie - how cool to design a card that sold so well! I'd love to see your cards. When I think of what would be a British card, I think of the Union Jack and a big, blue TARDIS. LOL! I need to come visit and expand my understanding other than what I learn from British TV shows! :)

Shana, this one uses all the sweets (candies) that we had as children:

I am working on several others. One has British Food, one has the television shows from the 50s and 60s. They appeal to the folks who are buying them. I designed the lettered background. The little people images are used by permission.

Well, Shana, you can see the cards. They would appeal more to the older generation than the younger. I am quite pleased with them though. I will create a version of them I can sell for more money. I don't get anything, it just raises money for charity. We got quite a bit of money the other day. I sold all 20 cards for 50c each. Plus, I read a poem I had written that we turned into a card. We sell those for $1. Every time I read it out loud, we get good sales, so I do it every few months.

What shows do you like? I watch all of them that have whole episodes. I tend to not watch the ones that are a continuing story, like Broadchurch. I love Vera, Midsomer Murders, Inspector Lewis, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Sister Boniface, Jonathan Creek, Silent Witness, Shakespeare and Hathaway, Murder in Provence, Rosemary and Thyme, Blue Murder, Signora Volpe, Harry Wild, Foyle's War, Madame Blanc, George Gently, Wire in the Blood to name a few.

I am a Dr. Who fan from childhood. I once got spanked for kicking up a fuss that we weren't going to get home in time to see Dr. Who. I had a fit in the middle of Woolworths. I watch the old episodes from time to time and have a bit of a laugh, they are so camp!

I really only enjoy the English shows, although I have allowed a few American ones to slink in. They have to be quirky. I loved Lie to Me, Numb3rs, Monk, Castle, Unforgetable, Perception and the like.

It sounds as though I watch tons of television, but I usually have it on when I am working on something else. I also listen to a lot of audio books. Audio books MUST have an English Reader. I can't bear listening to an American reader, they just sound so UnEnglish!! haha.

Lynnie, thanks for sharing the list of the shows you watch. I haven't seen ANY of the British shows you've mentioned, but nearly ALL of the American ones... so it seems we have similar tastes! YAY! How funny that you were scolded for wanting to hurry back to catch Dr. Who. The kids these days will never know the struggle of watching TV when it was on... and if you missed it, you missed it forever! Ha!

I completely obsess over The Great British Baking Show and Sherlock (wish they were making more episodes of that). It seems that there are so many shows that will be big in one country, and then remade in the other country... and I usually will watch both versions (like The Office, Life on Mars, Changing Rooms/Trading Spaces, Whose Line is it Anyway, etc.). I have to giggle...when my sweet hubby watches British shows with me, we have to turn on the subtitles because he can't for the life of him pick up on the accents.

My eye appointment did not go as planned, and left me confused and worried. I need to go back in September for another exam as well as a type of test to check out my optic nerve. The double vision, and cloudiness I have experienced can't just be fixed with new glasses like I thought was the issue. The eye doctor was very concerned that my test showed very large deterioation in both eyes compared to my last test in 2019. So much so she didn't trust it, and wanted another one done. We shall see.

Glad you all like the cards. I have had fun making them.

Sherri, I will definitely keep you in my prayers with all my love. You have enough to be dealing with without eye issues also. Big hug and hope all goes well on your follow up.

I just booked my flights to Illinois to pick up my grandson from prison there. He has been in since June 2020 and we are bringing him home, finally. For those of you who don't know (or don't remember) the story, he met a girl online. She said she was 26 and being kept prisoner by her parents. Mark and a friend took a bus from Arizona to Illinois to rescue her. After she was rescued, the police came to their motel room that same night and arrested Mark and his friend. Apparently she was only 14. You would think it would be obvious, but it was night time and Mark is legally blind. Anyway, because she was a minor and there was an intent to transport across state lines, they could have thrown the book at him. Fortunately, they appreciated the situation, there was plenty of evidence he did not know how old she is. That, however, is not a legal excuse. He has to register for the rest of his life, unfortunately, but at least he is not in prison any more.

Hopefully, we can straighten up his life a little. He is a good-hearted kid, but he is on the spectrum and does not understand the difference between good decisions and bad decisions. He is also very socially awkward. I live in a senior community, so I can't keep him (or I would). Anyway, keep it in your prayers. I booked my round trip plane ticket, his one way, a car and a hotel. The cost was astronomical!

So sorry Sherri, eye disease runs in our family too on my maternal side. Almost all my generation of siblings and cousins have already had cataract surgery at a young age, mine was in my 40's. My Mom had one eye done at 4yo and the other at 13yo and developed double vision in her 20's and now glaucoma in both eyes (she is in her late 70's). She gets along quite well with glasses, be hopeful as there is a lot of really advanced medicine for eyecare!

Wishing you the best outcome for your situation. HUGS!

Sherri, I’m sorry to hear about your eye problems. I know a little what that’s like. I’ve been legally blind since birth. I get by with really strong glasses and contacts.

Lynnie, I love your cards! So fun! I need to experiment with making digital cards.

As I write this, I’m somewhere in Ohio, on my way to dropping off Eren at college. Crazy! But everything’s going fine so for that I’m grateful. Well, I have again been nominated for LOTW, 7/31-8/6. Mine is the one at the very bottom of the pool, “Make A Wish.” If you like it, would you please vote for me? If not, please do vote. Thanks!

Sherri, good luck with your eye appointment. I'm so glad you have a doctor who is already figuring out ways to help you.

Lynnie, safe travels for you and your grandson. Hugs.

I had a good weekend... I was able to take photos of the local high school dance team. And holy cow... every single one of the 18 girls were there AND on time! I about fell over. AND... the weather was great. We got some fun photos and even wrapped up early. Although my body is feeling it... at one point, I was up on a ladder. The next minute, I was laying on the field's turf. But all in the name of art! HA!

This week will be spent in a hotel conference room for a series of supervisory classes I've arranged. I have 40 employees from across the state in the room for the week. My favorite instructor is teaching the class today and tomorrow. And we are close enough to home that I still get to sleep in my own bed each night. YAY!!!

What a week I have planned. I keep telling myself I am not going to do this any more, and then I shoot myself in the foot. Tomorrow I take care of my friend's place while she is away (mail, plants, etc.). I am meeting up with a friend of my son's (the one who died in 1996). I haven't seen her since before he died. l also booked a massage. Wednesday I am doing lunch and a movie with a friend, I have a chiropractor appointment and my Bible Study... every day is like this. Someone asks me for something and I go ahead and look for my first free day. I need to block a few days out to do nothing!!

Lynnie.... have you ever tried "booking" time on your calendar for just yourself? I do that a couple times a month, and then when someone asks if I'm busy, I'm able to tell them honestly that I have a prior commitment. Even if that commitment is with my laptop and Netflix! LOL!!!

Hey "old" people. Don't bend down to pick up a pair of socks. I did on Monday and said ouch and went on with my day feeling fine. Tuesday I got to work and couldn't get comfortable. By 10:15 I was crying in pain. I took aleve and went home. I was home the rest of the week. I couldn't stand, couldn't sit and could barely walk without feeling pain. When I was lying down, it took me a while to get comfortable. Then I dreaded when I'd get an itch because getting comfortable again was dreadful. Finally called doctor on Friday. They weren't able to take me in until the 29 due to one doctor leaving and another on vacation. SO...
I went to urgent care. I got a shot of Torodol in my rump, got anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxers. I was able to go to work this week. I still feel a little twinge of pain but I can bare the pain.
So not fun.
My husband was away tending to a friend who had surgery the whole time. My daughter worked almost all summer two jobs with barely any time for herself. This meant that I had to make sure my son ate. So it became easier to go get fast food as apposed to standing and cooking for a while.
Don't get old, it really stinks.

Hope everyone else is doing fine.

Hope you get well soon Lily Ann! I know what you mean...I sat on the floor for 6 hours sorting pictures and it took me a month to recover from a strained hip and leg. Getting OLD sucks!

Yes, I hope you get to feeling better soon! I had to go to the chiropracter last week. He asked what I did to cause my visit. I replied "breathed too hard once." LOL!!! Last time I was in and he asked the question, I answered "I had another birthday." I think I'm funny and he humors me.

All I know is that hubby and I buy the OTC pain meds by the BIG bottle! Ha.

Well I am back from my trip to NJ and I am really tired of riding in a car. Poor hubby did all the driving. I would have driven if he'd asked me to, but he insisted. Sigh. The house feels so empty now and the cat resents us for being gone so long and for not bringing Eren home.

Lynnie, I am with Shana- block out time for yourself! It's important to keep your tank filled. :)

Lily Ann, that sounds so painful! I was clenching my teeth the whole time I read your post. I hope the meds continue to help and that your doc can find out what's wrong with you.

Shana, we, too, buy pain meds in the big bottles! Our chiropractor is no longer practicing at the place we go to, so we'll have to find another one soon. Sigh. I'm glad yours humors you, that's fun. :)

Shana, I know I should book time for myself, but even when I set it aside, if I am trying to squeeze something into my schedule, I tend to disregard that. It is a constant battle between myself and myself! I love your "I think I'm funny and he humours me!" That made me laugh.

Lily Ann, that sounds awful. Leave the socks from now on. I hope you are feeling much better by now. I am 67 and just started Chi Kung classes, which is a lot of stretching and am feeling much better about bending over to get things, and even getting up after.

Karen, at least you can sit on the floor LOL. I have trouble with that and the getting up! Oh my goodness.

I am babysitting an extra day this week. The regular sitter (DIL's aunt) had a doctor's appointment. It was very last minute, but I'm glad to step in. I babysit, cleaned house and cooked dinner so when the kids finished work, they had a lovely evening to come home to. It made me happy :)

Happy Friday, all! I just finished setting up for my last day of training (we've been in training all week). So yay!

Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

Sorry to hear that Lily Ann - I can relate, I fell on August 1st, and my back is still giving me trouble. I will just get to a point where I don't want to cry, then I have to get up and go to washroom. Drives me crazy.

Fun plans for the weekend- we're going to the farmer's market and a regular supermarket if we can't find what we need. Then hopefully we'll be able to pick peaches, if there are any at the place we regularly pick fruit.
