Have I mentioned the Pope is coming to visit? He is doing a visit to have the Catholic church apologize for what the indigineous people went through with residential schools, abuse, and deaths, and secrets. The thing is: what the Catholic church was ordered to pay as restitution (that they say they cannot afford) is less that what we are paying to have him visit. Its been a disaster for traffic, as the practicing for his motorcade has caused ultra jams, as will his actual visit. Much has not been done for the actual reasons why he is coming which is causing much unrest. They recently put out all sorts of water and air restrictions too. It will be a good time to stay home when he is here.

Thank you Lynnie for the kind words. I think my kids are pretty fantastic too.

Karen if you do make it out this way, let me know, maybe we can meet up? Whats the boy doing in Banff?
I hope your mom and husband both get better.

The news on the doctor front here is non-existent. Family doctors are almost impossible to find. Last Friday at 7 pm we got a call that the family doctor that treats both A & A, is leaving family medicine. It took us years to find him, and he lasted less time. We did like him though. No notice no nothing, no way to get prescription renewals. It left Alexis in a really bad spot. But the pharamcy (we love our pharmacy) called and called him until he renewed hers for a bit.
I got Austin in to see a possible replacement yesterday, doc has been here two years from nigeria, and speaks with a very heavy accent, I have a hard time understanding him. Couldn't get Alexis in with a meet and greet until August. Cross fingers for us. Most docs don't want her as she has so much going on.

The kids dad was supposed to be moved from working 14 and twos, to working five and two, yet he has worked 21 straight, with one off, he fell asleep as soon as he sat down tonight. he should have tomorrow off.

Howdy all! I am back from camp and getting ready for a huge work event that I'm responsible for. So it's been one crazy week, a nice restful weekend, and another crazy week. My big meeting starts Saturday morning and ends Monday night. After that, I'm hoping to have some quiet time where I can start scrapping again. Our camp was so much fun. It was 106 degrees when I left and it was a super hot week at home. In the Colorado mountains, it was highs of 85 and lows in the low 50s... gorgeous weather. The kids were thrilled when we took them to iFly (indoor skydiving) and rafting down the Colorado River. I took thousands of photos and spent the entire first day home editing and curating them for the gallery that is share with all of the families and sponsors. So I'm sure I'll be flooding my scrapbook gallery with camp photos for a couple of weeks. Ha. Still fighting the fatigue of Covid... Dr said it could last for several weeks. The adrenaline of having the kids helped me push through it at camp, but I got home from work today and took a nap. Very unline me, but man... I needed it. Hubby has been so sweet and he even cleaned the kitchen for me while I was napping. He's a keeper! This past weekend, we celebrated his birthday late since I was at camp. We saw the new Thor movie and enjoyed some Indian food. Gotta love those date days. Hope everyone is having a marvelous week!

Sherri, I think when the Pope visits anywhere it causes a big disturbance, though I am not Catholic and can't say for sure. Sorry you had to go through all that. It does indeed sound like a time to stay home. I am sorry you are having trouble finding and keeping a doctor. That really sucks!

Shana, I'm glad you survived your camp! And now a big work project? Yikes! I do look forward to seeing those camp photos- it sounds like you had a ton of fun! And yes, listen to your doc when he tells you to rest. Covid is no simple cold. (((HUGS)))

I'm doing OK this week. Managed to do some grocery shopping, LOL! That's my big outing for the week, though I may go to a baby shower tonight for a lovely younger woman who is new to our congregation. If the thunderstorms aren't too bad. We've had doozies all week.

Well, when it rains it pours. Long story short... We have three cars and one day all three of them had the engine light on. I missed two days of work because of it. Daughters' car was "fixed" but if the light comes on again, we have to bring it back. Husbands car wouldn't get out of it's own shadow last week. Long story short here too... Due to a recall that was already fixed, they are replacing the engine free of charge. My car is at dealership and hasn't been looked at yet. We have a loaner car from the dealer in the meantime.
I've had stomach issues for like forever with my gallbladder out, two c-sections, belly button hernia... now yesterday I sat down for dinner and couldn't eat anything. I felt stuffed. Ate the usual amount for lunch and even maybe less than normal. Felt full. I'm not "stomach full" because I go soft at least 3 times a day. I have a gastro appointment in October for the "soft" goings. I only ate my usual breakfast of a croissant and coffee because I knew I had to eat, but I'm still full.
I don't know if it is nerves or something more serious. If this continues, I'll call the gastro doctor to see what he can do.
I wonder if it a lagging symptom as a result of Covid, as I still have Major fatigue daily where the littlest activity wipes me out.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Just a short message to share that my husband and I are settling in well into our new life in a small one bedroom unit. We are really enjoying the town we moved to as there is so many positives happening in our lives.
I have come to the decision because of my eventually being very involved in various volunteer roles, you may not see me much at all here at Ginger Scraps.
I am also about to start doing some watercolor painting to create greeting cards because of having lost all my craft supplies when our last home was flooded, I cannot afford to start again with the way I used to do cardmaking.

Good afternoon. I’m sitting in a hotel conference room with around 60 of our directors for training. I have another training room of around 40 directors in a different class next door. Things are going smoothly, but we did have several last-minute cancellations due to Covid. Tomorrow, I will have a total group of around 150 for training, and on Monday we are expecting 200+ directors, managers, speakers, and vendors. I just got word that one of our Senators may be stopping by, so I’m playing Tetris with my Monday program agenda to see where I can squeeze him in. He’s a great guy and so I’m happy he may be stopping by. I’m really looking forward to taking some time off after I get all the details wrapped up from this event. This is a fun group…. It’s more like a really big family reunion than it is like work.

One of my great-nephews turns one today… I’m missing the party, but I’m hoping to set up a party-take-two next weekend when I can drive down to see them. I love that age and really want to get photos of him demolishing a cupcake! LOL! Gotta love those photos of frosting all over the face. LOL.

Tomorrow night, our group is going to the dinner theater. The show is a musical based on the Disney movie Freaky Friday. This dinner theater is one we go to pretty often, and the food and the acting are usually really good. So that will be fun.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Sherri, it is like that when ANYONE that important comes to visit. I would imagine if a member of the British Royal Family came to visit, or your Prime Minister, or the President of the US came, it would be just as awful. Reparations is such a sticky subject anyway. Your doctor problem is tough. There are so many upsides to socialized medicine and so many downsides. In Britain right now, there is a problem with ambulances. Most are okay, but some people are waiting way too long for emergency vehicles. One old man waited so long after a bad fall, he called them back and said he thought they should just send a coroner. He died shortly after. Here, we can get an ambulance right away, but the medical bills might cost you your home! No right answer except for everyone to be nice to each other, do away with money, wars, bills, work, everything and dream on!!

Shana, you sound so busy! I remember being that way when I was working, I am so glad I am retired and am being voluntarily busy. I hope you get some scrapping done. I loved the Freaky Friday movies (both of them!)

LilyAnn, your car and health problems sound overwhelming. Hope the house is finally finished.

Anne Marie, I hope we see you sometimes, at least. You are such a bright spark.

Ane, if grocery shopping is your big outing of the week, I hope you have time for fun things :)

I have been babysitting grandson, Bruce, this week. He was a little bit of a pill. I was so happy to get home, which is not common. I love spending time with him. He threw a temper tantrum every two minutes, which is NOT like him. I am exhausted from the tantrums and wrestling him to change his diaper. He also had the runs.

Last weekend I had an all-class reunion from my high school. It is always fun meeting up with friends from school. We have all-class reunions twice a year and they are pretty well attended by graduates from the 1960s to 1990s.

This weekend, my high school has a reunion of the concert choirs from all years under one of the directors. He flies out from Texas and they put on a free concert. It was absolutely fabulous last time. My brother sings in it and I haven't seen him in forever. I am hoping we get to go out together afterwards.

I have been scrapping, too, a little.

Lynnie, you're right... how is it August already!?!

We completed our big summer meeting / training event and I was home and asleep by 9 p.m. last night. I think I may try to sneak out of the office early today and take a nap! LOL!!!

I'm tentatively scheduled to take the local high school's dance team photos on Saturday. Still waiting for a confirmation from the coach to see if she can get all 18 girls in the same place at the same time. Ha. I'm taking bets! LOL!!!

Shana, it is great to know you are back and (hopefully) sneaking out for a nap.

I loved taking dance pictures when Karen danced. I know the school teams are a lot different, but the idea is the same :) good luck with all 18!!

Rand was out walking the dog last night and was sprayed by an aggressive skunk. I may have to move lol!!

Lynnie, how fun to have an all-class reunion! I would totally go to one of those. It's my 30th this year, but it doesn't look like we are doing anything for it. And oh no (!) on the skunk spraying- that's awful! I'm glad you are getting some scrapping done. I need to do more.

Shana, did you get that nap, LOL! It sounds like you are working pretty hard, so I cannot blame you for wanting one! :) Good luck with the picture taking- trying to wrangle 18 girls is crazy!

Me, I've had a migraine for 2 days from poor sleep, but I'm still truckin'! Nothing major happening for me this week, so I'm all good. :)

Lynnie, OH NO... not a skunk! I remember washing our dogs with tomato juice as a kid when they were sprayed. Not sure if that was really effective, but that was our go-to treatment. Hope things are smelling rosier for you today! LOL!

And yes, wrangling 18 teenage girls for a photo is a chore. They've already moved the photo shoot date to Aug. 20, so I'm going to try to head to Wichita (a 2.5 hour drive) to go see my family and have a late-celebration for my great-nephew's first bday.

Ane, no... I did NOT get the nap. But I did get to work from home yesterday afternoon and got the laundry done. It's the little things in life! Our girl-child stopped by after she got of work. She lives/works in another town, but was still registered to vote in our community. So she came by after she cast her ballot and stayed to visit for a couple of hours. She's showing great signs of maturity and it's been nice to watch her become an adult. I hope YOU have gotten some better sleep and hope your head is feeling better today.

At our office, we're all reading leadership books and have a "book club" meeting about once every six months. Our current book is "Extreme Ownership" and I need to finish about nine more chapters before Monday's meeting. I found it as an audiobook and I plan to play it when I drive to Wichita. Other than that, things are back to business as usual for the rest of the week.

Ane, hope your migraine is gone and you are feeling amazing.

Shana, you keep yourself really busy. I have been scrapping and getting ready for Bruce's birthday "Adios Dos, Hola Three-Esta." He is turning three :) I am busy making photo props from elements in our kits. I am really enjoying myself finding 'props.'

A skunk spray is terrible. Did both get it?

enjoy your trip shana.

‘’august started with me falling, I have been barely able to move, but keep doing it. But man I hurt.

we had so many severe storm warnings and watches for storms and tornadoes and hail issues on 31st and 1st. The emergency alert system was constantly going off. Albertas major highway had hail hit it and hundreds of vehicles had windows smashed out from hail.

Ane- I hope your two-day headache went away. That's what I started with when I caught Covid.

Lynnie - Hope you got the smell out of your dog.

Shana - You are always so busy.

Sorry if I'm repeating this... After my car (or lack there of... All three cars had the engine light on in the same day... two we took to dealership to get fixed, the other was a temporary fix) fiasco last week, I bought a new car.
I bought a Kia Seltos.

Sherri, Yes, both were hit, but not too badly, fortunately. So sorry to hear about your fall, I hope you feel better soon. The weather sounds absolutely awful.

Lily Ann, I am so glad to hear about your new car! You need a reliable car. My daughter has just put over $5,000 into her car. It kept losing power. She really likes her car, so it is good to have it working fine. She did not want to end up with a car payment. Here's hoping you love your new car and we look forward to seeing new layouts.

I have spent the day printing fiesta elements from our kits onto 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper, to use as photo props. I also made really cute signs for the food, etc. Tomorrow, I will also make a backdrop for the photos. I have a folder full of photos of Bruce that I will be printing to put under clear table cloths so we can see them on the eating table. We are going to have such a great time on Sunday.... I still have to cook :)

Lynnie, your fiesta-themed party sounds like so much fun! Will you have a pinata? I hope you post photos of this celebration! :)

Shana, I hope you get to go on your trip- it sounds like it would be fun. :)

Lynnie, I'm glad you're living your best life and having fun, not letting your Covid recovery drag you down. Have fun at the party on Sunday!

Sherri, ouch! I hope you are feeling better today- falling is no joke, I know. And those thunderstorms sound really bad, how scary! We had a whopper of a one last night, but thankfully there was no hail.

Lily Ann, I'm relieved you got a new car! It sounds like you really needed it. 3 cars having that light go on the same day- what are the odds? Crazy!

Thank you, everyone, for your well-wishes. My headache did finally go away, and I am so grateful. They aren't as bad as they used to be, and I'm grateful for that too. I got about 4 hours of sleep Tuesday night, so last night I took all sorts of sleep-inducing stuff to ensure a good night's sleep. Well, I did indeed get it- I slept for about 12 hours! I wish I was caught up, but I'm feeling fatigued today too, so it'll probably take another night or so until I feel better.

Yes!!! On the piñata:) we are going to have so much fun. I went to the charity shop today and picked up some sombreros. I also picked up a bright orange blanket to use as a photo backdrop.

I cooked Ground Turkey Taco Burgers and Mexican Roasted Zucchini for dinner. It was sooo good. I love cooking and I am on a diet that requires a bunch of cooking from scratch, all fresh stuff. I like the program because it is full-fat, fresh and organic. The recipes are so tasty.

I went grocery shopping today at Costco. I shopped for the whole month. When I got homec I had to break down the meat into the right size packages, and cut all the onions and peppers. I have to grill onions and peppers for Bruce’s birthday, plus I go through a ton during the month. I chopped and froze eight huge onions and a giant bag of peppers. Doing it all at once has the advantage of minimizing the dishes. I have a chopper, which is not the easiest thing to clean. It means I only have to clean it once and cooking is much easier because I have already prepped the ingredients.

well, back to work :)

Lynnie, it sounds like you have quite the operation there! It sounds super efficient, too. I hope you have an amazing party.

Happy Friday, all! :)

I am finally getting back on track to a simpler life and even scrapped a few pages and it feels great!

Lynnie, I saw your comment on my little Hana's bee costume page...haha, she is really a sweetie. Someone was giving away a few doggie costumes and I thought I would play dress-up. It was really large for her so we did the photos and then passed the costume off to someone else. I also have a Santa suit, can't wait for the season to dress her up again. My son has moved now to Banff, Alberta and has asked me for pictures of her for her Instagram page. She has her own page with 1,827 followers, who would of thought!!! If you care to look she is at "hana.bananaaa". She is really a fun loving cat and is quite tolerable with our antics.

Been busy with the yard this year as I have neglected it so much has been overgrown. I took to selling some of my perennials and I could not believe that I made $180 on my ferns! I still have some Lilies that I want to split so hopefully I will make a few more $$'s to fund some new new plants.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer months but they are going by just a little to quick for me. But...I am planning my UK trip for next Spring so that has been exciting!

And...hubby still waiting for a new surgery date, quite frustrating!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Lynnie, how'd the party go? I hope it was awesome! :)

Karen- good to see you! That's a sweet LO of your cat. My kitty wouldn't be so sanguine with dressing up, LOL! She also has her own Instagram page that Eren started. :) Oh, our yard is a bit overgrown too; it's great you made some money off of that! Praying for your hubby to get his surgery scheduled soon!

I had a pretty good weekend. We saw a play starring one of friends' kids on Friday. They did brilliantly with only 3 weeks of practice. Saturday morning we went to the farmers' market and got plenty of produce. We usually get breakfast there too. After that, we did other shopping. The rest of the day and a good part of Sunday, we kind of loafed around, LOL. Except when we had Eren's boyfriend over for dinner Saturday. He's a great kid, still in HS, though, and they're going to try to make that work. This weekend we head out of town again to catch some Drum Corps action. Should be fun and loud.

Just under 2 weeks until we take Eren to school. Eek!

Karen, the picture was adorable. I will look for her when I get around to going on instagram. I have it, I just never go on it :)

Well, Bruce's party is over. Adios Dos, Hola 3-esta! It was a great success, particularly since time got away from us and we planned it at the last minute. Nessa (my DIL) made amazing cookies (her decorated cookies are outstanding), Steven cooked chicken, beef, grilled onions, peppers, rice and beans for burritos and made guacamole and a salad. Nessa's dad brought beer, I made a cake and daughter Karen took care of the decorations. It was going to be immediate family only, but Nessa's aunt and her cousins family came also, so it ended up being more people than we planned, but there was plenty of food and Nessa's cousin, Lilly is one of my favourite people in the world. I can't wait to scrap the pictures, I am downloading them now.

Today I have my feet up. I deserve it. I said I made the cake, but I also made photo props and a gazillion cute little pictures that are laminated, so we can scatter them on the tables for decoration. We do that with family pictures at Thanksgiving.

I joined a new weight loss coaching program today - well I joined a while ago, but today was the first day. The program just coaches you through and helps set goals. I love the food program I joined a while back, but the problem is not licking the cake and frosting bowl when I make cakes :) There are way too many opportunities to skip my good habits. Anyway, the call was good. I am motivated today, hopefully it will continue. I am short and very round. I don't care about the weight as much as the aches and pains that go along with excess pounds. I want those to go away.

Anyway, wishing everyone a great week!

Lynnie, so glad to hear your party was a success! What a neat idea to put out photos at Thanksgiving! Love that! Good luck with the weight loss coaching. My hubby and I have to recommit ourselves to losing weight again... our numbers are creeping back up. Our problem is snacking throughout the day... no bueno! He tells people that his diet plan is "if it tastes good, spit it out!" Ha!

This weekend is our little community's annual Tall Corn Festival. There's vendors, food trucks, games, dances, contests, and a parade. I hope the weather is good this weekend. The past two weeks, it's been so hot and humid that it's near unbearable to be outside. But yesterday was gorgeous and I even got to take my walk in our neighborhood (instead of the gym). So that was lovely.

Hope everyone is having a great week! :)

Ane, I remember those band days with my oldest son, he played the trombone. He didn't continue it but was a great experience. I actually have a famous relative that played the trumpet in the Tommy Dorset band in the early 50's. I have acquired a lot of information about him while going through Mom's photos and some great photos. Hoping to do some pages of his life story, Mom talked about him for years.

Lynnie, The party sounds wonderful, I will watch for your layouts.

Shana, I love summer festivals and we have one coming up soon that has a free stage that has a concert. This year there is a wonderful local band playing, Washboard Union. It should be a nice evening.

On Tuesday, I went to our local spa and spent the day with my old school chum. We haven't gotten together since before the pandemic so it was a wonderful day to catch up and enjoy a relaxing day. They have a circuit there where you go in the warm pool first then the HOT pool then a COLD plunge which is great for your circulatory system. There are also a few steam rooms and saunas and had a wonderful lunch; we stayed for almost 8 hours! A much needed day giving thanks to my oldest son for the gift certificate!

My Mom is doing better but still requiring oxygen to get her volume up. She is happiest when I take her outside. I am going to hate winter when she is cooped up indoors. Her condo still hasn't sold, the market is not the best right now either, finger's crossed!

The weather has been a combination of hot, cool and rainy spells so we don't plan too much ahead of time but it has been mostly enjoyable. You can tell by the air that summer is winding down but I am enjoying each day until I can't sit outside anymore.

My youngest is enjoying his new job in Banff, meeting new friends and doing some exciting excursions on days off. He may be coming home for a few days in October for his birthday and to pick up the last of his things he wants to keep. We miss him dearly but facetime every evening.

I have been getting a few pages scrapped these days but most days are still consumed with Mom, house renos and daily chores. Hoping to get a bit more scrapped so I can take advantage of some sales on books.

Thanks to everyone who has left such kind and wonderful comments on my layouts, I truly appreciate each and everyone of them!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the season, happy scrapping!

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing good.

I am still recovering from the fall I had. How can something so simple traumatize one so much. Alexis had an eye appointment and is getting new glasses. My appointment is this week, I know I need new ones too.

Weather has been hot, with late night storms. I cannot belive it is mid august already.

Shana, the festival sounds like a lot of fun. We have the Strawberry Festival in the city where I went to school and it was always a lot of fun. There is a fabulous parade that goes with it. I have not been in some years, but I remember it fondly. We also have the Orange County Faire, which is a huge fair with all kinds of stuff.

Karen, I love catching up with old friends. It sounds as though you had a lovely day. I am not sure I would be good at going from pool to pool. I have trouble enough getting into comfortable water - it always feels too cold :)

I am glad to year your mum is doing better. Taking care of elderly parents is not easy. We worry a lot.

Sherri, I sympathize. I had a fall a few years ago and it took months to recover. A big soft hug.

Me.
I spent the last few days babysitting Bruce. He can be a little pill sometimes, but all little ones are the same. He cannot be persuaded to eat some days, and I feel terrible that I am not able to persuade him. He is so stubborn. His dad was the same way, though, you could count the things he would eat on one hand.

I spend the night on Friday nights and babysit all day Friday and Saturday. I love babysitting, but it is not easy some days. It takes a lot of energy chasing around a three-year old.

The heat is overwhelming some days. I have air in my room and spend a good part of my time in there when I am home. I have brought my laptop in here. My balcony office gets really hot because it is all windows. I love it out there, but not on hot days.

I walk with my friend, Pam, most mornings. We walk a mile or two. We used to walk up to 8 miles in a morning, but not lately. She walks about 5 miles each day and I am done after two, mostly because of the heat. We have started a Chi Kung class for an hour in the mornings, three days a week. It is sort of like Tai Chi, but more stretching. We are really enjoying it. I feel so much more flexible since we started doing that. It is losening my joints.

Today, I spent the day uninstalling my old computer and turning it over to my husband. I was constantly running out of space on my 500GB hard drive. It turns out that one of the applications I use was saving over 400GB data. I never get rid of old copies of things. I am glad I got the new computer, but can't believe why I was having so much trouble. It was totally my fault, I kept saying 'no' when the program asked if it should get rid of old archives.

Anyway, I think I will try to scrap more today. Not sure if I will get much done, but I think I will give it a go.

Happy Monday, all!

The Tall Corn Festival was a success. The weather was beautiful in the mornings, but the afternoons and evenings were HOT and HUMID! I was shooting the corn-eating contest and could feel the sweat running down my back. Ick! Luckily, all of the other events I shot were in the mornings and I was done by 10:30 a.m. Ha. Then I took a shower and spent the hottest part of the day editing the photos and getting them shared across the community.

The dance team and the cheer team were fun to shoot and I got some great photos of the girls in action, as well as some cute posed shots. I consider this part of my community service to my town, so I never charge. Most of the girls and their moms are super appreciative and thank me when they post my photos on their social media. However, this year, so many people posted my photos without giving me credit. Oy vey. I don't make that a requirement, but it is good etiquette. SMH.

Anyway, I'm working today and tomorrow, and then I'm taking the rest of the week OFF! WHOO HOO!!! I don't have a single thing planned and I'm looking forward to turning my wake-up alarm OFF! LOL!
