I need to go on vacation. If only to get myself some more pictures to scrap that don't absolutely gut me. I did a memorial page for my dad because he's been on my mind a lot lately, and just. Ugly crying. Ugly tears. Just. Absolutely gutted.

Work is a disaster, the US office cohort keeps working at less than half days and it has me incredibly frustrated because it jams all our mechanisms and work flows and then if I want to keep it on track, I have to work MORE hours to meet deadlines and goals. Which. Isn't ok. So I'm gonna have to throw a tantrum. When I stop crying. At least I am home office so the only persons disturbed by my emotional unrest are the Yorkies.

Lynnie, I'm so sorry that you're still not feeling well and that your community has been so upended.
I've said my prayers for both ends of our country and everyone in between. I just don't understand anything going on right now. I try not to allow it to make me sad or wallow, but it's so hard.

Syl, totally get your need for a vacay. I'm right there with you. Had a less-than-wonderful discourse with one of our building nurses who wanted to throw her "40-years-of-nursing" up against my federal law. It didn't end well for her, but it didn't really make me feel any better to point that out either. I don't enjoy being right when I have to shove it down people's throats. It really would be nice if they'd just do their jobs when they're asked the first time. 40 years of doing something doesn't make it right when things change.

Out to do my job and shove things down more people's throats who don't want to listen or read. smh...

Lynnie, I will continue prayers for your health and welfare. I'm sad to hear about that shooting. (((HUGS)))

Sylfie, I do hope you get a vacation soon. It sounds like you really could use one, between your gut-wrenching scrapping and your work situation. Prayers for you too, hon. (((HUGS)))

What are everyone's weekends looking like? We're doing a little gardening, a little shopping, and a lot of deep cleaning to get ready for my family's visit. They will be here just over a week, so I may not be around much starting Tuesday.

Good morning, all! We had a graduation party in Nebraska for my youngest first cousin yesterday, so it was a late night getting home. Always happy to see family. A couple of the extended family asked about my collection of our heritage photos, so I was able to send them my Smugmug link to the photos where they can download or order prints. They were thrilled, and promised to send me some more photos that I didn't have. Yay!

Waiting for the hubby to wake up so we can go to the farmer's market. Then I may go to a mini crop with friends this afternoon. They hold it in the basement of a church... plenty of space, but they only have metal folding chairs and I don't enjoy sitting on those for a long time. I need to get one of those stadium seats for added cushion. ha. Tonight and tomorrow will just be doing house chores and relaxing. I like quiet weekends. :)

Good morning ladies. Its been busy since the move. I am still unpacking, getting out every day with the dogs and starting to get out more to take photos again. We finally got our hot tub hooked up so every night we relax in it after dinner for 30 minutes. Life is going at a slower pace but the days fly by if that makes sense. We are all happy with the quieter life here, except for the lack of workers out here. Everyone seems to be struggling to get employees so trying to get a landscaper, deliveries, etc takes a long time. Also having no doctor is scary but we don't have a choice. There aren't any available and haven't been for years. So an emergency will get us into the hospital but you have to be interviewed by phone (if you can reach them b/c mostly its a busy line) if you need to go the hospital urgent care and if they deem it necessary to be seen, you have to go in and wait all day for a chance to get called in. There has been a doctor shortage out here for many years. Because of the lack of medical care here I hope that when my times comes it is quick and until then I stay healthy b/c health care is scary here.

I've had a cough (sinus drain) that keeps me awake a lot at night but nothing seems to clear it up. Its been about 3 wks now. I've tried throat sprays and use cough drops a lot. I might try allergy pills but not sure if that will help. Luckily I'm not sick in any way, just the sinus drip. I think all the dust here irritates my throat too. Its very dry here and often windy so dust is crazy here. But almost no rain so we love that.

The house is pretty much furnished now, it took 7 wks for everything to be delivered. I love my house and the location, there are so many places to take the dogs. Right now we have to be careful on the trails b/c of the rattlesnakes but there are many dog parks to go to that are too active for the snakes to hang out at.

So life is moving along, we are happy here. Now I just need to set up kind of a schedule to get my scrapping done, also I haven't sat down much to read but now have a club chair, chairside table and lamp set up in a corner so will start relaxing there and reading a bit now.

Hope everyone is well.

Lynnie sorry to hear you are still ill I have more than one friend with long Covid that is not getting better

huge hugs to everyone else that needs them.

Yesterday, I attended an in-person crop with friends. There were about a dozen of us, and what I found interesting was what people were working on. One lady brought her jewelry-making hobby and made a couple of bracelets. One lady was making cards. Several were stamping (or prepping their stamps). One was folding pages in a book in a way that made it look like a labyrinth... it was really cool. I was the only digi scrapper there, so they sat me by the electrical outlet! Ha. It was really fun seeing all of the hobbies people brought with them as a time to connect with everyone. I'm pretty content with my photography and scrapbooking as my current hobbies. I still sometimes crochet, and I've been thinking about getting back into painting again. What other hobbies do the rest of you pursue?

Shana, I read and cross-stitch. I probably should cross-stich more. I am very behind on projects- I have 3 I bought 2 years ago to get me through the pandemic, and I'm still on the first one, ha!

What's everyone got planned for this weekend?

I've got all my family (spouses and granddaughter included) in town for Eren's graduation tomorrow! It's fun to have them around, but very tiring, LOL. We've been taking day trips around the area, but Sunday we're going to travel for a couple of days, see some sights in another city. Should be fun/crazy!

Hi everyone, long time no talk. Life has been crazy here (but then that always seems to be the case). We went camping at the beginning of the month with some friends that I met online and had a blast (it was quite the added bonus that the campground was only 20 minutes away from where my niece was in a softball tournament so we surprised her by showing up).

All of the kids just got done with school this week. Kathryn her freshman year in college and Paul's freshman year in high school. Plus my nieces finished their year too. Mom and I went back to Indiana for the niece's promotion programs as one was finishing 8th grade and one 5th grade. They didn't know we were coming so it was a huge surprise for them.

Now, just enjoying the weekend. We haven't really done anything and I am okay with that.

Alexis flew to Ontario for a kind of youth conference, and flew back today, very quick turnaround.
‘lots of driving for me. Ick, I hate driving.
the kids dad and I went garage sailing Saturday for a few hours, our neighborhood was having one. Didn’t buy much. Scored the entire series of Sopranoes on dvd for $10.00 I’ve never watched it and it doesn’t stream on platforms we pay for. Also a making of Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd dvd. I might. Just. Have a small thing for them. Lol.
scrapbooking so much, and still behind it seems.

It has been a long month and very busy. Mom was moved to a PCH and is settling in. With my siblings we have divided, almost sold and cleaned her entire condo. It is so sad to see her whole life's belonging go in just a few weeks. The hardest time was going through her scrapbooks and saving only what I don't have as Mom and I used to paper scrap together back in the day. And the photos...you sit on the floor sorting and get up 4 hours later. So many memories help put her busy well loved life into a different perspective that warms my heart.

Hoping everyone is keeping well with all the tragic news from around the world. Here we are having another round of torrential rains for the past day and to carry on for a few more. We discovered foundation problems and had some basement leakage but all is stable right now.

Have a great week everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great week. This weekend, I have my first in-person youth conference that I've planned and hosted since before the pandemic. I feel like I'm forgetting to do things... egads. Wish me luck! I'll have a group of teenagers from across the state under my leadership until the end of next week. I'm sure I'll have photos of some of our activities to scrap! :D

How on earth is it June already?!!!

I know, right?

Just sent my family home on their airplanes. It was a long week, but it seemed to fly by. We had a lot of fun, and walked about 6 miles in Chicago on Monday. I'm glad we had them here but relieved that they will be back home today. I know out cat is especially relieved they are gone. All the extra people (especially the toddler) were cramping her style, LOL.

I'm looking for moments of positivity at the moment. My positive for today is that I have been able to breathe without coughing for most of the day. HUGE improvement over the past week and half. Oh, my second positive is that I was able to take my son (who just turned 18 three days after graduating High School) to open his checking account. He's spent the rest of this afternoon applying for a job. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll get a call for an interview soon.

Susan, it's always good to look for the positives, especially when you need it! I have a gratitude journal I write 3 things in before I go to bed. Sometimes it's hard to think of good things, but I manage, even if I'm writing "good medicine" for the third time that week! :)

How was everyone's weekend? Sunday was my birthday, so people at church wished me "Happy Birthday" and a couple of sweet ladies even gave me gifts. Hubby made me dinner and cake and we watched a movie, the 3 of us. Last night we had dinner with some friends who are moving and tonight we are making strawberry jam. We need to pick the cherries off our tree and see if we have enough of those to make jam. :)

Happy Birthday Ane! What a wonderful tribute.
Used to love making jam too. In fact, we just lost the chokecherry tree at my mom's house that we made jam from for years!!! Finally came down in the last storm. Another "memory" gone. Of course, that one was not so bad. I remember the "words" that came out sometimes when we were trying to figure out just how much MORE sugar we had to add to make it sweet "enough" but not too sweet. My dad LOVED chokecherry jam!!!

Hey how is everyone. I am just off a migraine streak that had me incapacitated. It was one of the worst I have had.

We are getting some much needed rain right now, but not enough. Some thunder boomers tonight

Catching up on my scrapping

My van went weird on me today while taking alexis to the doctors, so it is currently in the dealership, just to get the code read is expensive, let alone what the fix may be. urrggg

Do you say by accident or on accident? and what area are you from?

Interesting. I say by accident in Minnesota, US, but I've heard it said the other way too.

Why do you ask?

Sorry about your migraine and your van.

Greetings, everyone. I'm back from my youth leadership conference. We had a great event and you'll start seeing photos from that in the gallery in the coming weeks. Now if only I could get caught up on my sleep! Ha. The teenagers were great and they really bonded. Most of our speakers were very well received. I've been editing a ton of photos from the event and hope the that kids will post and share them.

We've had a lot of storms in Kansas this week, too. Big hail out west, lots of rain and winds, downed power lines, that sort of thing. We were so lucky to have dry weather on the few occasions we had outside events. The storm last night was super bright with all of the lightning, but we were only on the tail end of it. So everything is looking lush a green right now.

Sherri, that's a good question. I say both on accident and by accident, depending on the situation. But i never really thought about it until you asked! LOL!!

Sherri, sorry to hear about your migraine and your van. I'm a migraine sufferer myself, so I feel that pain. (((HUGS))) I mostly say "on accident" and I am from the western U.S.

Shana, I'm glad your conference went well! That's good news for sure. :)

What's everyone up to this weekend? My family and I walked a 5K Bubble Run. You walk through a cloud of bubbles at the start and periodically throughout the run. It was super fun but my feet are tired now, LOL! After that, we picked some fruit at a local farm and had lunch out. We did a little shopping and now we're at home, about to make more jam and construct some garden beds. Luckily tomorrow will just be church! :)

Ooh... a bubble run sounds fun! We had gone on vacation at a resort that was supposed to have a bubble time at the adult-only pool. Only the bubble machine wasn't working when we were there. Bummer. Bubbles are one of those things in life that just make me smile.

It's going to be HOT this week and next week with forecasts reaching triple digit temperatures. It's good time to stay inside. Of course, my hubby likes to keep the house at freezer levels, so I'll be wearing a jacket inside our home. Ha.

Happy Monday, all!

Good morning ladies. Life has not slowed down yet since the retirement and moving to a new city. I've slowed right down on unpacking b/c all the essentials are unpacked and I took a breather, took time to get other things done. I can get to the last boxes at my leisure. I will be re-organizing things later but again, at my leisure. I finally got a chance to go thru some photos and have started framing and putting photos on the walls. It sure is nice to look around and see my photos on the walls. I took a break from doing that last week b/c a big EHD of photos started to fail. So all week I have been copying photos over to other drives to have a duplicate and then a new big EHD will come tomorrow so I can start putting a copy of all photos onto that. Not sure if 16 T will be big enough, if not I'll order another. After I finish with photos I will order another big drive for my digi kits as my EHD for those is almost full. This will all be an ongoing process throughout the summer but at the end of it all everything will be duplicated and on big drives so won't need all the small ones I have.

I've been taking photos of the birds here, some which are new to me, not seen when I lived on the coast. That's been fun.

I went back to eating low carb. I felt great and loved eating plant based for over 2 yrs but just couldn't drop the extra covid weight I'd gained so now I eat a bit of meat/fish and moderate carbs. So far it's been going well, I'm losing weight, feel good and am happy with my food choices.

We are slowly recovering from the loss of Bailey, enough so that we enjoy most of our days and our feeling of loss doesn't last as long now, we are able to push thru it most times. Other times we have quiet days and sort of get in our heads but then Jen and I help each other (with the help of the dogs too) to move forward. We are still waiting for the evaluation as to what the lawyers can pursue as to medical negligence. Because it involves a hospital and staff, there are a lot of steps to go thru legally before a case can be pursued. Our hope is that all of this will help to push for better training of staff and regulations so this tragedy doesn't happy to another family.

On a happier note, we have our pool up and running, we finally got a company to come out and service it (we've never had a pool so needed help with setup and explaining how to maintain) and our hot tub was delivered and is working great. We don't even miss our trailer in Washington, it has been so nice to hang out at home here. Soon we'll be able to get that on the market to sell and be done with it.

So, that is the catch-up on my life lately.
Lynnie - sorry to hear you are still feeling so poorly. Hope soon you are back to good health.

I'm going to get some scrapping done before I get out with the dogs this afternoon. Stay healthy and happy everyone. I'll try to pop in more often.

Sorry I have not been very active with keeping up with the chatting.
Here is an update on my situation:
Our flood damaged house has sold (under contract with settlement happening next Monday - 20th). Once that money goes into our bank we then pay for our new little home which is a one bedroom unit is a retirement unit.
We have been like newly weds - buying all sorts of things for our new little home.

Once we are settled in our new home I hope to be more active on the site with challenges etc.

Anne-Marie, I'm so glad that your house is almost sold, and how wonderful that you're having fun getting new items for your new place! Thanks for giving us an update! :)

So glad to see you here, Rae and Anne-Marie!

Rae, I'm glad you're moved in and to that stage where you can slow down. It's good that you have more good days than bad days about Bailey. And a pool! How fun! Do enjoy for me. :)

Anne-Marie, I'm glad your house sold- what a relief! Have fun buying things for your new little home, and enjoy it! :)

I look forward to seeing more of the both of you.
