Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. Spent the wkend scrapping a bit, saw Doctor Sleep (sequel to the Shining) and we all enjoyed it. We binge watched some shows and I took tons of photos of the birds/squirrels in the garden. We spent Sunday after with Bailey and taped up tons of photos on her walls to remind her she is loved. She doesn't remember the details (memory deficit) but she does know us and I think these kept to give her a sense of comfort. We snuggled on the couch together and watched music auditions (The Voice, AGT, etc) on youtube and she sang along with some of them. It was a wonderful afternoon with her.

What I didn't get done was tax paper work, laundry, meal prep and other chores. Oh well....I'll get that all done over the wk and if not, on the wkend for sure. I tend to procrastinate so have to be firm with myself sometimes LOL.

Ane and Ella - snow, how pretty that will be. I love to see snow but we generally get very little here, usually an inch or two and then it's gone in a few days. It's been about 3 yrs since we got a 6+ dump of snow that stayed around for a few wks. I'd rather have snow than rain which is what our winter usually is.

Lynnie - I clicked your link and saw the first page but the video didn't play for me so I didn't see more. How nice of you to give all that time to getting this done. That's a big job.

I've got a busy day with lots of desk work so will get a bit of CT work done and watch a bit of tv on my laptop but will have to diligent about focusing on work for blocks of time throughout the day.

Hope you all have a great day.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Thank you, everyone, for your support! They are feeling a bit better but we're going to see a psychiatrist next month to get a diagnosis, maybe medication. They are already in therapy so we'll just continue that. :)

It is snowing today! They predicted less than an inch but it's close to 2 now. It's been going all day and doesn't look to be stopping anytime soon. It's so pretty and yet dangerous as the temperature is dropping to below 20. Brr! But we've had a good Veteran's Day so far. :)

Well, big big hugs to you. I hope that knowing how much support you have here helps just a little bit. I think this is a pretty sweet group and I love hearing what is going on in your lives.

You sound wonderful with Bailey. I am so glad she is close enough that you can do all this for her. Does she like photo albums, even if she can't remember. Is it helpful to see pictures of herself doing wonderful things or is that too difficult?

Tax stuff, laundry, etc pfffff!

Taxes and laundry can wait till tomorrow,
Cause time flies by, we learn to our sorry
So quiet down meal prep, and chores go to sleep
I'm cuddling with Bailey and Bailey won't keep

(Paraphrased from Dusting and Cleaning can wait till tomorrow!)

I wonder why the video will not play, it should, it was a universal link. I wish you could see some of the slides, they are very intricate. Thankfully the project is winding down because I am exhausted. Now on to Christmas calendars.

See, I scrap a tremendous amount, I just don't have time to post.

:)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie - love the poem :) You are absolutely right, most chores and household things can wait and in our home, they usually do. I try to be neat and put things away so my home isn't cluttered and I always clean up dishes after dinner but chores like laundry, cleaning floors, vacuuming, etc....they often get left longer than they should :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies.

Sherri - I love Animal Kingdom too. I fell a bit behind, halfway thru s2 so need to binge watch the rest soon. Love the actor in that show, they are so good.

Got out into the garden for a few bird/squirrel pics but not for long. I have lots of CT and desk work today and have to pop over to the motor vehicle branch today b/c I realized my drivers license had expired...yikes. It was almost 2 wks ago. Plus I forgot to renew Taz's dog license so got a notice about that with the price almost doubled b/c of the penalty. If I don't write it on the calender or put a note on my desk, I always forget these kind of things.

Hope everyone is well and enjoys the day. I'm getting another coffee and back to work before I run out for errands.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Doctors expecting horses sometimes don’t look hard enough for the zebras. In my case epilepsy seemed to fit. Didn’t fit everything, but was deemed close enough. I can actually remember the neurologist saying to me, that since he couldn’t find anything else he was going to say epilepsy. Two decades later it took my death and resuscitation, to find the zebra. Then it all fit.

I appreciate your well wishes so much. I can’t express how much. Chronic illnesses are so isolating. Isolating for a parent caring for a child with a chronic illness but also if that parent has chronic illness also.

Its rained here then frozen then snowed, then warmed up and melted a little, then, rains, freezes and then snows on top of the ice again. A number of times already this month. I’m not a fan.

I enjoy binging and scrapping, Alexis had a bad cold on the weekend so we watched quite a few Animal Kingdom episodes of the latest season. It’s about a crime family not animals.

On a much small scale, a doctor once told me that my skin rash was a case of URDD. When I asked for clarification, he said it was Unidentified Red Dot Disease :) Sometimes they just don't know. Perhaps if they had looked at it closer they would have figured out, but they ran a gazillion tests, then it went away. So, they put a name to it and moved on.

Mine went away, however, so it was not a big deal. In your case, how horrific! To only find the zebra when you were resuscitated.

And the hugs and support? Well, we all need that, don't we.

I have been so convinced you live a perfect and tranquil life! Now we are seeing the cracks :) I am a terrible procrastinator and very forgetful. My husband has to take care of anything that requires precision and follow up dates.

I am in the middle of HUGE family drama with my kids.

My son and his wife have a new baby and are both finally back at work. Nessa was off for a total of 12 weeks, and Steven for 6. Bruce is 3 months old, I am still trying to work out how that adds up, but that is irrelevant. They took care of Bruce for the first three months of his life. Now back at work, they were going to alternate between Karen (who lives with them) and Nessa's aunt. So Nessa installs a nanny cam and they tell Karen no one can come over during the day when they are working. I totally understand this. They are new parents, they want to be able to see the baby during the day and they want to be reassured that all is okay while they are gone. They are gone for about 10-12 hours, given an 8 hour working day, plus the commute.

The first day, a friend of Karen's stopped by unexpectedly and it caused a problem. The second day (today), Karen calls me in tears. She had been asked to turn on the nanny cam and she feels as though her brother and sister-in-law do not trust her. To put it in perspective, she is renting a room from them and they are paying her a small amount to watch Bruce.

Karen always looks at things from a black and white, 100% point of view. There is no reasoning with her when she is upset or mad. It is probably her most difficult trait. She will not consider that Steven and Nessa are just concerned about Bruce. She feels hurt, unloved and untrusted. Steven and Nessa, on the other hand, have a new baby that they are leaving alone for the first time. It is not a matter of love and trust, it is a matter of reassurance. There are two sides to every coin.

Karen is paying a small rent. She has a Siberian Husky who has a wonderful yard to play in. She has dug a ton of holes trying to get a gopher (whom she did, eventually, get) and Steven and Nessa have not batted an eyelid. Karen travels for a living and can always leave Geisha with Steven and Nessa at no cost and they feed her and take care of her. Karen makes their lunch every day and cooks, cleans and does laundry out of the love of her heart. She is an amazing babysitter and, for older kids, she plays with them all day, colouring, making worlds of imagination.

I know this will blow over, but right now I have a terrible headache. I mean TERRIBLE. I cannot bear conflict. After Karen called me, I talked to both Steven and Nessa. I talked to them all from a loving point of view, not foisting my opinion on everyone. I don't know if it did any good, but they all need to know they are loved and supported.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Ah Lynnie....I feel your frustration and pain. My two girls don't always see eye to eye and it's hard to try to get the other to see both sides. They both are strong willed women and will dig in deep for what they believe and can be stubborn (but ha ha....I know where they get that from LOL, it's just that I have mellowed with age). My girls are 6 yrs apart in age and for about 10 yrs I think they had a hard time relating to each other and understanding and accepting their differences. I work hard on living as tranquil a life as possible, focusing on the positive, so it bothers me when there is family fighting going on. I left all that drama behind me once I hit my 40's and really mellowed out.

I hope your headache dissipates soon and go find something relaxing to do, take your mind off it.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I have not heard from my darling children to see if peace has been restored. I have texted, but I am not getting responses. I don't know what that means. I had my Bible Study last night and finished up a huge project, so I do feel a little better, I just wish I knew how the family is doing.

Karen posted 8 pictures of Bruce on the Family Album App, so she is watching him today. Is the Nanny-cam on? Are they talking to each other? I just don't know...

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Happy Friday to all. It is chilly here in Florida, although I know from the news many of you have really freezing temperatures. Still a drop of 20 degrees is a lot for here.

My prayers for all with the struggles you are going thru with family. Big hugs - support as best you can. I admire your ability to share difficult times.

I was in the hospital earlier this week. Another bad GI flare up. Doing well know. I made it to yoga today.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am ashamed to admit it, but this past week I’ve had the man cold. Just can’t shake it. With either it, or the sudden changes in temp and weather I’ve had a migraine that just irritates my brain. Things are just on the outside of my memory grasp. So frustrating. I’m sure sleep would help, but I’m not getting it.

Tonight i look out kitchen window and their is a doe looking in at me, I call my son over to look, and he says there is another one, a nice three point buck. The two casually strolled on front lawn then on my neighbors lawns. It’s neat but sad. The city is expanding so much it’s pushing wild life out of areas they typically were on. When we bought here 20 years ago, our Crescent was one row of houses off off vast farmers fields on two sides. Now the one side goes for ten city blocks and the other for miles and miles.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hi everyone! I'm enjoying a quiet Saturday morning drinking my coffee and watching Christmas Movies on Hallmark. May possibly do some scrapping as well. I'm finishing up my Bachelors degree - 1 class and my capstone project left! Also, just accepted a new job which will utilize my new degree so am very excited.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I'm moving slowly this morning, we are going to a Purdue basketball game this afternoon at Mackey arena it is about 15 minutes from us and all of our kids and DH are alum. Our Daughter Skyler is about to graduate from there in December on the deans list with honors. Eli our 14 year old youngest is super excited and bringing his best friend along. I have to admit I'm pretty excited too the boiler crowd never disappoints they have an amazing fan group and the arena gets crazy fun. Probably dinner out after and then we are going to the Colts game tomorrow against the Jacksonville Jags. Super excited for a fun sports filled weekend as I love both College Basketball and professional football. There is a meet and great after the game we have passes to to meet christian players and the Chaplin down on the field. Eli IS SUPER excited to meet some of the players. I love family fun filled weekends like this, even as introverted as I am often, these are the type of events I can handle where you just disappear into the crowd and don't feel singled out to interact. I guess I had better get this day rolling so we can make our events on time. Have a fabulous day ladies,

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. It's a cold rainy day here on the west coast. I enjoyed coffee and my book for an hour and then sat out under the deck cover by the garden and photographed the jays and squirrels. The other birds were keeping cover under the bushes. I'm going to putter around today, get some CT work done, bake some muffins and later will walk Taz along the river before settling into my chair to binge watch Stumptown with hubs. Dinner tonight will be bacon wrapped chicken with baked veggies (green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and peppers). I'm sure the day will fly by.

Lynnie - hope the girls have talked and worked it out.

Sherri - I feel like you do, we have bears, coyotes and cougars that are being pushed out of the mountain area. 20 yrs ago there was nothing up the mountain but now there are thousands of home. They wander thru our streets frequently but usually at night or very early morning.

Kim - how exciting to be so close to finishing and have a job lined up. Congrats. As for Hallmark movies, I've got a bunch on the PVR now so watched a few last wkend and will see at least 1-2 over the wkend. I watch when I'm scrapping, in my office on my laptop b/c hubs isn't interested in watching. I had a laugh when I saw this SNL parody with James Franco about the Hallmark Xmas movies....check it out HERE

Ella - enjoy your sports filled wkend.

Have a great day everyone!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hi, My name is Susan, and I'm a Lifetime Christmas movie addict. I started watching them before Thanksgiving. I'm suitably ashamed. :blush

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning ladies. It's a cold rainy day yere. I enjoyed my book and coffee for most of the morning and then scrapped a CT page and took a few pics (from under cover of our garage) of the jays in the grass. Those pics will be great for some rainy day themed kits.

We're heading out in a bit to spend (our usual) Sunday afternoon with Bailey. I think I'll bring some dice and we can play a game. We often work on a puzzle with her but since she learned how to play our dice game before her accident, she can remember (sort of) how to play (she lost about 5 yrs of memories and almost all short term memory so doesn't retain info). We have fun and if she makes mistakes or adds wrong we ignore it, if it makes her happy, we don't care. I"m bringing her Hazelnut choc tea which she loved (and so do I). Later, we'll continue binge watching some shows. Last night we watched the first 4 episodes of FBI. Finished my book this morning (Ask Again, Yes) and loved it.

Susan - watching cheesy Xmas Hallmark movies are the perfect way to spend a day IMO!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Rae that skit is spot on. Where do I know that actor from. One was a famous child actress with her twin. I loved the maid in Brooklyn goes on to governess then married the king. Cheesier the better.

More struggles with son and his homework. So time consuming.

NASCAR won by my not liked driver.... grrr.

Too sick to go to the outdoor christmas tree lighting friday night. Would have liked to.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I've had a pretty good weekend so far. I woke up early yesterday so I got to have a short nap. Then we went shopping, and later cleaned up our house. We had some friends over to watch a band competition until late, so I didn't make it to church today. I slept in for a long while. :) Since then we've had some good family time.

Hi Susan, I watch Hallmark Christmas movies too! Or did you say Lifetime? Either way, those movies are addictive! We'll probably start watching them next week or so, because Christmas, hello! :D

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Ane...I have been filling up my PVR with the Hallmark Xmas movies so will have plenty to watch all thru the next 6 wks or so. Hubs will watch a few of the Netflix Xmas movies too. ‘Tis the season for holiday movies!!!! Yay!

I’m going to put my jammies on early, order pizza and start binge watching tv for the night. A great way to finish up the wkend.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. The wkend flew by too quickly. Enjoyed relaxing last night and binging the rest of the FBI shows so am all caught up now. My PVR is almost full (I blame all those Hallmark Xmas movies that are now showing, I can't resist them LOL). I think I'll watch one this afternoon as I scrap a few pages. I'm doing desk work but I don't think it'll be overly busy so I'll let a few long breaks throughout the day.

Hope you all have a great day!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I haven't turned on the Hallmark channel yet - just Lifetime. My husband has resigned himself to know that our DVR will be filled with Christmas Movies until probably February. I recorded all the new ones last year and didn't finish them until February! He will watch them with me occasionally. He is a friend of Michael Gross (Family Ties Dad), so he will watch the ones with Michael in them with me. He's a keeper. LOL

I hope you are feeling much better! It seems that there is a lot of GI stuff going around. I know so many people who have come down with one intestinal thing or another.

I am ashamed to admit it, but this past week I’ve had the man cold. Just can’t shake it. With either it, or the sudden changes in temp and weather I’ve had a migraine that just irritates my brain. Man colds are when they wimp out at a minor cold. I am sure that you have a bad cold and are genuinely sick! I have no faith in man colds :) I sympathize.

I sympathize with the wildlife, too. When I go for early morning walks, I meet up with skunks, squirrels, bunnies and coyotes. They keep to themselves and I keep to myself. People complain about the Coyotes, but this was their feeding ground first. They still give me the chills when they are in a pack. I give them a wide berth, but it is odd to see them trotting fearlessly around the houses and across the lawns.

Hi, My name is Susan, and I'm a Lifetime Christmas movie addict. I started watching them before Thanksgiving. I'm suitably ashamed.

I do save them until after thanksgiving, generally, but I am happy to let anyone else watch them whenever :)

Rae that skit is spot on. Where do I know that actor from. One was a famous child actress with her twin. I loved the maid in Brooklyn goes on to governess then married the king. Cheesier the better.

I am all about cheesy. I subscribe to the hallmark and lifetime channels.

Kids and homework! I am so glad those days are over, but I remember them clearly, so SYMPATHY

I've had a pretty good weekend so far. I woke up early yesterday so I got to have a short nap. Then we went shopping, and later cleaned up our house. I like that - I woke up early, so I got a nap. I have been lobbying for a nap room at work for years. I have not got one yet! Glad you are getting some good family time, you sound cheerier :)

Am I the only one who waits until after Thanksgiving?

Ane...I have been filling up my PVR with the Hallmark Xmas movies so will have plenty to watch all thru the next 6 wks or so. Hubs will watch a few of the Netflix Xmas movies too. ‘Tis the season for holiday movies!!!! Yay!

I want my jammies too! I love to binge watch, but I repeat binge watch so I don't have to pay 100% attention while I am busy scrapping or working on a project.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

It was lovely getting a few minutes to catch up.

The girls appear to be just fine now - no more squabbling and Karen is still watching Bruce. We are doing Thanksgiving at their house, so I hope all is well.

I am done with all the big projects for now so am focusing on family tree and Christmas.

My weeks are always so busy. I am looking at my calendar and wondering where my free time has gone. I am so looking forward to retiring, although I suspect that it is me and not my calendar that is to blame.

At the weekend I had my niece's baby shower. I made little Harry Potter onsies that said "Accio B**B," "Snuggle this Muggle," and on the butt said "He who must be Changed" and "Expecto Poopium!" Another one said "I am a keeper!" and the last was a Hogwarts silhouette done like a Disney castle with a witch where tink would be and Hogwarts in a Disney font. They were very sweet. She has been sending them to me all week, so I knew she wanted them. My daughter gave her a shirt that said "Accio Baby Jenks 2/22/2020." Karen's birthday is 2/22. Baby's due date is 2/23 and Karen wants him to come early :)

After that I attended a cricket banquet. Long story, but it was a long drive and loads of fun. Sunday I went to church, then worked on stuff at home.

Tonight, dinner with a friend, tomorrow dinner and a project with another friend, Wednesday Bible Study, Thursday a genealogy class. WHAT WAS I THINKING! My weekend looks no freer.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie - gosh, you are soooo busy :) And talented...you have so many projects on the go. No wonder you can't wait for retirement!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies - determined to get some housework done today aside from my desk work. Yesterday was crazy, my work computer started acting up (software freezing) and fiddled around for a few hrs to get it going again. I think after Xmas I am going to have to use another computer for work stuff. Luckily I have another computer that isn't being used so hopefully it is good enough. My work computer is about 7 yrs old so in the electronics age, it is ancient. Anyway, its working now so at least I'm not falling behind in work.

Started A Bend In The Stars and so far am enjoying it.

That's about it for me today, nothing going on aside from CT work, desk work and house chores (maybe get out into the garden for a few bird pics) and of course walking Taz a few times (he never lets me forget LOL).

Have a great day, everyone.

HaHa! I have a lot of projects on the go all the time - but not 100% sure about the talented part :) I think it is a symbol of my insanity, not a wonderful sense of organization and talent.

You really do have a lovely life in your posts :) I think it is the garden, the bird pics, the jammies and the binge watching that sucks me in. I could live like that all the time ... well, until someone came up with a project that sounds like fun!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Today would have been my son, David's, 45th Birthday. He died 3 years ago at the beginning of this month and left behind a son, who is now 23. I was looking for some pictures for my calendar and found a folder of pictures I don't remember taking that were the last pictures of my kids together before he died. They were wonderful, what a beautiful gift to find. I finally added his date of death to my family tree. Somehow doing that makes it terribly real. I am so glad I had him in my life.

C.S. Lewis grieves Joy's passing and says, "Why love if losing hurts so much? I have no answers any more. Only the life I have lived. Twice in that life I've been given the choice: as a boy and as a man. The boy chose safety, the man chooses suffering. The pain now is part of the happiness then. That's the deal. (from the movie Shadowlands)

This was one of the things that really made me think about if it was worth having him in my life, only to miss him so much now. The answer is a whole-hearted and enthusiastic "YES!" Do I wish he was still here? Absolutely. Do I wish Chris was still here? Absolutely. BUT, if I have a choice between never having had them in my life and knowing only blissful joy or having them with the sadness and wounds that are left behind, I would choose having them every single time.

Lynnie, what lovely heartfelt thoughts you have shared.
Not sure who said this but..... " It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all"

The words I often use in sympathy cards: Memories keep those we love close forever...
