Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. The sun is out and I'll enjoy getting out for a few walks with Taz later. I may take him out for a longer hike in the late afternoon and bring my camera for some macro pics. If I don't bring it, that's ok, b/c I'm taking him out tomorrow morning around 7:30 to a nearby trail that leads down to the inlet where he runs in and out of the water. There often are a few other dogs down there. I'll bring my camera for some pics. At this time of year I like to get out and enjoy the sunny days and take lots of photos. I've got laundry, desk work and need to cook up a big batch of bacon later for adding to meals over the next few days and will make up a big batch of chili later too for freezing. Reading Sandra Brown's "Outfox" today and enjoying it. Tonight is the finale of the sci-fi show we like "Killjoys" and we will watch the last few episodes of The Good Place, to be ready for the final season to start next week.

Anne-Marie - you do so many interesting things and help so many. Good for you.

Lynnie - grands are the best, we have 4. Bailey is the one who acquired a brain injury almost 2 yrs ago and is the one we visit with every weekend at the care home. This wkend looks like good weather so am looking forward to taking her out for a hike on Sunday.

I'd better get to work for awhile. I'll be scrapping and watching shows this afternoon so this morning need to be a bit more diligent with my work schedule. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I've had a pretty average, quiet week, except for the days I take DD out driving. Those days sparkle with excitement and danger. Tomorrow there's football game she'll play at and an band competition, so it'll be a long day for all of us, but fun.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Ane, I hope your daughter does well with the band competition. What instrument does she play?

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

In marching band, she plays the mellophone (marching french horn- looks like an oversized trumpet). And thank you!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

No photo walk this morning, its raining. If it clears up I'll bring my camera for a hike this afternoon with Taz. I'm going to scrap a bit, do a bit of shopping, housework and later want to do some baking. I love lazy Saturdays. I've got things to do but no rush and later will binge watch some more tv shows.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Wow, did we have rain here this weekend, 44mm. Driving was terrible and many places flooded, the mall had the roof cave in, buses drove through large amounts of pooled water and the bus flooded enough that people had to put their feet up on the seats to stay dry. Thankfully we are safe and dry with dryer weather on the way as I have so much to do in the yard before the cold weather sets in. In other news...my 9 year old grand-daugter was out of 9 chosen to sing in the choir with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in late October. My hubby will be picking her up at school a couple times a week for a 2 hour practice. We are so proud of her and can't wait for the big performance. I just wish I could accompany them so I could sneek a few photos. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. Like Karen.....we too are having a lot of rain. Even the birds don't want to come out in this weather to the feeders on the porch. Only one jay and finch have come so far. They must be hiding out in the trees. I'll be heading up to the care home this afternoon (I do every wkend to visit my GD) and once there we'll stay indoors and play cards or work on a puzzle for the afternoon. Too nasty to want to go out for a walk with her today. I will be out there with Taz before I go as he wants a walk no matter what. He stands in front of me, intently staring and sends me the vibe that he wants to get out to walk along the river. I go out with him twice a day no matter what the weather. He needs the exercise daily, needs to run a bit, to be a happy dog. We've been binge watching "Single Parents" this wkend and love it, it's really funny. We'll pick up where we left off tonight when I get home, we're about 1/3 into the season. Spaghetti for dinner and maybe some scrapping tonight. That's my day! Hope you have a good one.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

You can all send some of that rain my way here in Australia.... there are areas that are in severe drought ( not where I live but we still need rain).

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

As you know, Anne-Marie, I am in one of those badly affected drought areas. As of today, we are on emergency water restrictions...no outside use of town water, limit showers to two minutes, no topping up of swimming pools, windscreen washing of cars is permitted for safety reasons but with only a bucket of water, evap aircons can be used but only moderately...many of these restrictions cannot be forced or detected but we are all implored to be responsible in our use of water. We can use laundry, shower water and I am saving that to try and keep the shrubs alive...have already lost several and its not even hot here yet. All this is just in the towns....the farmers are desperate.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Jill, that is sad news for your town. I hope the people in your town do the right thing and that no one wastes water.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Jill - hope that your town respects the restrictions that are needed. We never have restrictions that severe but we do get summer restrictions on which days we can water our lawns/gardens and even with that easy restriction to follow we see neighbors not respecting it....human nature I guess...some people just don't follow rules.

Rain here today but mostly clear skies for a number of days following. I can't wait to get out there with my camera and start taking some fall photos. Tonight is the start of TV new season premieres so my PVR will be burning up :) I love that I can watch on my laptop during the day while doing my desk work, off and on. Prodigal Son, 911 and Bull are at the top of my list for tonight.

Will be zipping over to Walmart to return packaged produce I bought yesterday that was water-logged and soggy when I opened it up last night. Ugh. Wasn't planning on driving anywhere today but looks I will have to. I wanted a big salad with dinner tonight so need that replaced. Then I might as well take Taz into the pet store for some doggie treats and let him hang out for a bit (he loves the staff and is fascinated by the glassed in hamsters, birds, etc). He gets up on two legs and strains to peer inside the tanks at them.

Hope you all have a great day.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Looks like the rain is going to stop for most of the week now. I'll be heading out with my camera this afternoon for a few fall pics. Love this time of year!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

As always, crazy busy :)

Friday, son James and I spent day at Disneyland. We had a great time. The weather was perfect, there were no crowds and the rides we wanted to go on were working. It was wonderful.

The kids came over on the weekend and we spent time with them. I went out with a friend to an awesome new craft cooperative that is pretty close by.

I called in sick Monday and Tuesday. I was not that well over the weekend and by Monday I was feeling miserable. I am still feeling fragile, unfortunately. I will be back at work tomorrow, though. I wish I were retired already! Sounds like Taz lives a very good life with you!

Rae, you do sound as though you have a very lovely life. You have time for work, time to walk, time for reading, time for television and time for scrapping! Oh - and of course, you have time for grandchildren :)

Ane, I love the phrase "sparkle with excitement and danger" when you reference DD driving days.

Karen - the flooding sounds terrible. I always feel terrible when I see the flooding. I think of the cleanup afterwards. How lovely that your granddaughter is singing with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Surely someone can sneak a few photos.

Anne-Marie - wouldn't it be nice if we could even out the rain and sun everywhere!

Jill, I am so sorry you are in such a terrible drought area. We were, too, a few years back. There were restrictions on how often we could flush the toilets, even! One of my neighbours said that what we do does not even affect the water supply because the farmers are using it all up. There is some sense in what she says, but I still think we need to do our bit. She could be seen in the wee hours watering the brown patches on the grass. Two minute showers are not very long - ours would not even be warm by then. I think I would be tempted to run a very shallow bath and add boiled water. Then you can use the water on the shrubs. They say that showers use less water, but I know that is not true in mycase.

James leaves today. I am so sad and will miss him.

My class that I am teaching is going well. The head of the education department loves my teaching style and wants me to do more classes. I said not until I retire!!!!

Which is in March :)

I found this rainbow Happy Birthday and thought it might be good as sign that your town will soon receive the much needed rain.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Thank you Anne-Marie !! We Aussies get 2 birthdays here at GS, today AND tomorrow :) Going to the movies with grandson and partner to see Downton Abbey then lunch with other family members. Should be a good day.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Happy Birthday, Jill! I hope it is really wonderful!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hello! I feel just a little bit lonely right now, which is weird, because I usually don't mind being alone. DD is off at band practice and DH is off taking pictures of the band. It's weird that I don't have many pictures of the band. He just keeps forgetting to forward them to me. I guess I just wanted to wave hi to everyone and tell you my week is going fine. No big medical problems, no scary teenager things, no angst with hubby. It would just be nice to be all together at home for once. :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I crave solitude! I feel as though I am surrounded by people all the time and am never by myself. I would love to be by myself sometimes. But just sometimes....

I am lonely, occasionally, even surrounded by people, oddly enough.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. I've got a fair amount of desk work today and tomorrow and then a light schedule for October. I can't wait. Less money sucks, of course, but having more free time to get out for my photo walks with Taz will make me really happy. Getting out with my camera is my "zen" time, I happily wander and snap away, feeling peaceful and content with life. It's like my therapy. It destresses me and its a good way to get some exercise, hiking around. So....I can't wait to get thru the next few days and then can start planning some photo adventures. We'll head out to our trailer in Washington a few times for a few days throughout the month and will get some fall photos out there too.

Tonight is GA, HTGAWM, A Million Little Things, Evil and L&O SVU....great TV tonight!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hi All
sorry I haven't been around for a while, life was kicking my butt. Hoping it settles a bit now before Christmas but I won't hold my breath. Since last week, the shower wall fell in, our spare fridge caught fire & our main pc broke down. All very expensive to fix but we are getting there. Just thankful we saw & smelt the fridge before it caught alight as we were just on our way out to put some signs up.
I hope everyone is doing well & I can't wait to get a few layouts rolling again, scrapping is one of the few things that helps me relax my mind
take care, will pop in & chat when I can

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Oh my goodness, that is a lot to deal with all at once. No wonder you feel as though life is kicking your butt!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I have a love-hate relationship with Fridays - the store calls me to enjoy all the new stuff - then I have to pay for it :)

That is a lot of expense for you. Glad you had not gone out when the fridge caught on fire. I hope life settles down for you now.

Hugs to you, what a stressful time. Hopefully life settles down for you now and you can recover from the financial and emotion burden.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie - of course you should link it for some love :) I found it and commented on it, it's a beautiful page!

I spent a few minutes watching and photographing the birds in the garden this morning. I saw a grey squirrel that doesn't come often b/c he gets chased away by the 3 black squirrels that have claimed our property as theirs. I got pics of a black one on the fence watching me as the little grey guy dug a hole for a peanut in the garden. I'm sure it got dug back up again pretty quickly LOL. I'll have to scrap a page about it. Hubs is going out tonight to play poker with the guys so I get a quiet night to myself to scrap and watch some shows. I have take out for dinner so don't have to cook...yay.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Good morning, ladies. I'm enjoying some extra time with my coffee this morning but am going to hop in the shower soon b/c I need to get out to the mall to do some shopping for my GD's b-day tomorrow. She's my 21 year old GD who acquired a brain injury almost 2 yrs ago and has many memory deficits, so finding things that she will enjoy doing are difficult, most things can't hold her attention span for long. But we came up with a great idea. There is a zoo (as far as zoos go, I think it is small and not much there but she'll love it). She was there as a young child but won't remember that so it'll be like something new for her. We'll go pick her up from the carehome and take her to the zoo for a few hrs and then back for gifts and icecream cake. Looks like the weather will cooperate and it'll be clear skies. Today I'm shopping, scrapping, baking and I guess I'd better do a bit of housework (I admit that often suffers lol). Hope you all have a great day.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I just got done preparing my GIMP lesson for Monday night - my class is coming along really well. I hope to see them here at GS one day soon :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie - I bet your class is great!

I'm heading out soon for my GD Bailey's b-day. We're taking her to a small petting zoo for the afternoon and then back to the care home for cake. I'll be exhausted by the time I get back, with all the driving today (over 4 hrs) and walking around the zoo for a few hrs. I'm still a bit worn out from my 3 hr hike yesterday with Taz. Took macro and landscape shots along the river and a bunch of Taz playing in the river. He met a new friend (a ducktoller dog) and they played together quite a bit. The owners were lovely people. I am going to send them copies of the photos I took of them and their dog. It was a fun afternoon but I was tired by time I got home. So, have a great day everyone. I'll be back tonight.
