I had an interesting weekend. Saturday I spent some time shuttling DD back and forth to band competition. And I went shopping at 2 stores, which is a lot for me. Sunday we had church and I had a "nap" since I didn't sleep well the night before. Then everything slid downhill from there. DD and DH had an argument over homework, which they dragged me into. This left us upset with each other the rest of the night. I chalk it down to hunger, because we hadn't eaten dinner yet. Everything is OK today. We all forgave each other, which is a huge relief.

As always. In reality, I am trying to do that project 52 thing - and this forum is one of my best sources of what I was up to what days I encourage people to use it similarly! I am amazed at what is recorded here for me and nowhere else.
Hangry is what they call it when people who are hungry are cranky and get into arguments. We need a Hangry kit! (although there probably is one!) Homework arguments are so tough...and being in the middle is tougher.

James, child number 3, arrived last night from England! It was wonderful to see him. I only saw him in April, so it is not really a long time, but it does feel like forever at times. I checked his suitcase, he did not pack my grandchildren.

My sis came to visit from BC (a different province), haven’t seen her in a couple years. Unfortunately it was a bad day for mom’s mind and she didn’t know her at all.

Lynnie: I hear ya...my son keeps saying he is moving but I told him he could as long as he doesn't take my one and only grandie!
Sherri: So sad for your sister and Mom...hope there will be better days. Glad you were able to visit.
Back to the regular grind...very chilly and wet here lately. So not ready for fall yet. Still not quite feeling well. Had 2 bouts of a virus in the spring and something is off...made an appt for the dr next week. Hoping things will improve.
On a better note...taking the grandie to the Jets fan fare on Saturday...where we will meet our home town hockey team players. It is a free event so even better!
Did everyone get alot of scrapping done for the birthday? and what about the shopping? I bought the notebook journals...can't wait to play with them.

Good morning, ladies. I see that Sherri's sister came to visit from BC. That's where I live (west coast of BC Canada just outside the Vancouver lower mainland). Sorry to hear that trip didn't work out well but I bet she's glad to have come to see her.
I've been hanging out quite a bit here lately and thought I'd start popping in here a bit to get to know you all better. I'm obsessed with the designers here and can't seem to stop shopping LOL.
The weather here is changing, lots of rain this week, much cooler temps and its starting to feel like autumn. I hope we get some good fall colors soon. Because of the amount of rain BC gets, we don't always get a very pretty looking autumn landscape b/c the leaves get too wet and drop too soon. It's not half as pretty as my memories of when I lived in Ontario as a child. They have spectacular fall colors.
I work at home so will be working, scrapping and getting some chores done today. I'll be out walking Taz a few times (rain or shine he needs his walks) but other than that, I want to stay indoors today. It looks yucky out there.

I did get some shopping, not much scrapping - we have a heck of a lot going on here right now - new grandie, son visiting from England, sick mum, work, travel - it is all SOOOO much!
This is a really great place to shop - I mean visit! Actually, both. I used to be on the CT at another site and this was always my favourite site to post. People left me lovely messages. SO MANY PEOPLE from my old site (which closed down) are here. I firmly believe it is the friendliness and lack of drama, not to mention the great designers

Our annual client conference at work was last night. It is generally held at this wonderful little boutique hotel in downtown Huntington Beach. I am usually heavily involved in the conference, but was not so much this year because I had been sick. Anyway, there is a fancy dinner on the Thursday night and we usually do our employee awards that night. The owner of the company likes to celebrate the staff in front of the clients. This year we had four of us who got 20 year awards. I was actually at 21, but we did not have a conference last year. My boss said some lovely things about me and I got this gorgeous award for my desk. He also shared with the clients that I was retiring and this would be my last client conference as an employee. It was very touching.
So it is really happening. I am so excited, I can hardly wait - but I will be working through March of next year. It is a hard wait, it seems so far away, but I am looking forward to it.

@Route66 My sis only stayed for two days, the first day Mom didn’t know her at all, and it was hit and miss with me. The second day, Mom knew exactly who both Jeanette and I were, and even asked about my kids and Jeanette’s grandkids. She was really good that day. Then just Jeanette and I went out for supper. It is the first time we have ever been alone with each other. It was interesting to talk about our similarities even though we were brought up apart. It was nice having that one on one time.
I scrapped a few challenges for the birthday celebration, they were great this time. Did a bit of shopping. Which notebook journals did you grab?
@bcgal00 my sis lives in Victoria. Central Alberta has had more wet days this summer than we had rainy days. Leaves are changing fast right now.
@Lynnie I love workplaces that are employee driven and they are valued and recognized. That’s nice to be recognized like that. March will be here faster than you know. What do you do? Project 52 is fun, I love looking back on the years I’ve done.
My girl applied to do this program called youth at the table.they take 30 youth (18-30) and match them to a mentor, and a board of a not for profit, and they gain experience sitting on the board. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity. She was matched to a volunteer board, and her mentor is a lady from our city that has served as a city councilwoman, on the local college board, and was actually awarded the cities lifetime achievement award last year. I’m hoping the mentoring is fantastic for her.
My boy, is struggling so much with school, and we are only a couple weeks in. I know that homework struggle all to well.
In early october im having both a endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time. The instructions that were mailed to me contradict themselves. Any tips on doing these? Anyone had them? My mom has colon cancer as did her mom. I’m getting a good baseline set hopefully. But there are extra things that are worrying. My defibrillator ICD needs disabled during the procedure so if the electrical instruments that cauterize are needed I won’t get shocked. But then if it’s disabled, what if I need it. The solution to drink, can mess with my electrolytes which can make me more prone for cardiac arrhythmias. It just isn’t as simple, as for others, and it worries me.

. Hopign everything goes well! Looks like your girl is enjoying the opportunity, best wishes to her. Your boy struggles...wahat to do? Have you considered a tutor? I had one for my son and it was the best gift I could give him, he just graduated from University. Can you believe I live in Vancouver and have never taken the ferry over to Victoria? One of these days I will. Contact your doctor's office for clarification on the instructions. Try not to worry, the chances of problems during the scope are very little. It's very routine for them and they know what to do (I do the typing for a cardiology clinic and know that these things are routine for them).
Karen - haven't been to Manitoba in many yrs. Yes, working at home is both a blessing and a curse LOL. I have 3 monitors, 2 keyboards and a laptop all set up on my desk and I rotate back and forth between them all throughout the day, scrapping, working, watching shows....so my workday stretches into the early evening but that's b/c I take so many breaks to do other things aside from working. But I wouldn't have it any other way, I've been working at home for 25 yrs and love that I don't have to dress up, I can go out when I want to and have a very flexible schedule.
Today we'll be heading up to the carehome to spend the afternoon with my granddaughter (she has been in hospitals/treatment facilities for almost 2 yrs now after a traumatic brain injury). We see her at least 1-2 times a week. You see lots of photos of her in my LO's. Then we'll be home for dinner and watch some shows tonight. Not sure what we'll binge watch. We just finished Pretty Little Liars Perfectionists last night.

I love my company - I just am not thrilled about my work. I love the people I work with and the company does treat us well!
This really does sound like an absolutely fabulous opportunity for her.
Homework was always a struggle in our house. I had two children who were great about homework and three who required a daily battle to get it done, then a miracle to get it turned in! I am so glad those days are done for me.
Have you talked to all involved doctors about the procedures and how necessary they are? It seems to me that they need to give you just a little more reassurance as to the safety of the procedures they are doing.
I need to look at the notebooks. I completely missed doing things for the birthday and I keep hearing people talking about notebooks and I am intrigued
I actually work better from home, I am more comfortable and there are fewer distractions.

I definitely use this thread as my notebook! I know I can come back to this thread and find what I was doing on any given weekend and many weekdays too
Friday:
I had a physical therapy appointment in the morning, then a doc appt. I think I am doing well. James and I went to the movies after that and saw "Angel has Fallen." We shared a pizza there. It was just like the old Movie Buddy days. We toasted with "Red Vine Swords" and had a blue icee. Made me very happy. Friday night we had us a burrito night. James loves burritos and every time he comes we have to have a burrito night. Plus, my mum has to supervise, so it makes her feel special. What fun.
Saturday: I had my Village Memory Makers scrapbook club in the morning, from 9 to 2. I spent it getting ready for a class I am teaching on Sunday. My friend Carol was there, she was working on hand made cards. She creates some really lovely ones. Son Steven and his wife, Nessa, came over in the afternoon with Baby Bruce. Son James is visiting from England and this was the first time he met his nephew. It was lovely. James and my husband, Rand, went to an Angel's game about 5, then Steven and Nessa left. I watched Mama Mia, Here We go Again. I have owned it forever, but have never watched it. It was wonderful to watch

Nessa, mum and i watched Aladdin and then Dave. James and Steven were on a mission to find a gopher. James was famous in his teenage years for blowing up stuffed toys with fireworks. Nessa was mildly concerned that James was planning on blowing up the gopher. Thanks heavens he didn't. Steven went out to get Mexican food. They forgot mine We juggled the food we had and there was plenty for all. We left around 5 and headed home. Rand had just got home from work, so we decided to watch "Tolkien." What a great film!

I think we should all share and keep track of our journaling for Project 52. You should see my daily diary (which I do keep!) sometimes I just write ECW 23! THat would mean I need to check on the Everyday Chatting and Waffling thread on Page 23 for what really happened on that day. It is SO helpful.
Of course, if I was not so far behind I would not NEED this as a reminder!!
I think we should all share and keep track of our journaling for Project 52. You should see my daily diary (which I do keep!) sometimes I just write ECW 23! THat would mean I need to check on the Everyday Chatting and Waffling thread on Page 23 for what really happened on that day. It is SO helpful.
Of course, if I was not so far behind I would not NEED this as a reminder!!

Thx Lynnie...yes, with Bailey having a traumatic brain injury and in care, it has changed all of our lives but we are so thankful for the opportunity to love her and help her. You sure are a busy lady.

Today so far I've scrapped a page, fed the birds & Taz (our doodle) and then got started at my desk job (at home). It's almost lunch time so I'll get Taz out for a walk before I make lunch and get back to work for a few hours, then will get at least 1 challenge page done this afternoon. So glad the rain stopped. The sun is out now. I just ordered a new bird hopper feeder from amazon so can't wait to get that in a few days. I'll be sure to take a few pics and scrap about it. Anyone who knows me, knows I love birds and dogs, and I photograph them a lot for scrapping.

I used to keep a detailed diary but now I just keep a brief one. I also used to do Project 52 ( weekly pages) but this year I thought I would do monthly ones but it is now September and all I did was January and that I did not really finish as I planned to do a double page with the one page having a lot of journaling.

I think it is such a wonderful idea, and I love the pages I have done, but I am not good about keeping them up. I will, definitely, be trying to do better, though, because I love looking back on them.

Good morning, ladies. Finished shopping, now I'm going to get a challenge page done before starting my desk job. I'm sitting her comfy and cozy in my tights and long sweater. It's officially sweater weather here today. Raining, chilly, temps in the mid 50's. I won't be venturing out much except to walk Taz. I'm reading The Retreat and its been a good thriller, I'm almost done, probably finish it tomorrow morning. I'm going to put So You Think You Can Dance on my laptop soon and watch it in the background while I work. It's the finale so I'm curious to see who the winner is. I want to bake up a pumpkin loaf later (low carb). Anyone else here low carb? I've been doing it for about 4 yrs now.

Your days sound pleasantly busy without being totally exhausting, Rae. What a great balance. If I am reading, I have to finish the book and stay up half the night. I would love to be in the moment with a book, then put it to one side with delicious anticipation for the end. I enjoy background to my working also. Work is too noisy at the office and I get so much more done when the noise is my own, carefully chosen, noise.
I taught my first GIMP class last night and am breathing a sigh of relief. I have a small class of about 10 people and they loved it. They were so kind to me and the director of education said I was the best instructor they have ever had. He said my enthusiasm and the connection with the students was so visible, and my passion for the subject shone through. It was such a weight off my shoulders. He hopes I will do it again I said of course I would. I get carried away in those sweeping moments of glory and will agree to anything, haha. Seriously, I loved it. I used to teach for a university and I loved being able to share knowledge and help people over the difficult spots.
Tonight I have church leadership board - I wish I did not have it this month, but I have visitors next month also, so that is not a very good reason for not going. Ah well. I wish I could spend all my time with James while he is here visiting from ENgland. I can't wait to scrap some of the layouts with the pictures I have of baby Bruce - he is adorable.

We have two babies this year - Luke in April and Bruce in August. I am so blessed I have a total of four and am lucky enough to get loads and loads of pictures.
I wish I could fire up a spark of interest in working.

Good morning, ladies. I'm going to scrap a bit before starting my desk job this morning. I have laundry waiting to be done this morning and need to organize the spare room in the back of the house (I mostly keep my extra clothes in there) so we can put my hubs' lazyboy chair in there for a bit. He got a new one yesterday and he'll post on FB bidding wars that it is free to whomever comes to get it which should go quickly b/c it's not that old, is in great shape, just doesn't feel right to him. He's fussy about his chair. I PVR'd AHS last night so we'll watch that later after the Big Brother finale. I ordered another PVR box from Shaw last night as I want to be sure I don't run out of space for recording. I like to binge watch shows so tend to fill up the PVR and then we watch multiple episodes in 1-2 nights. I want to binge watch the comedy "Single Parents" this wkend, it looks funny.
So, a quiet day, not much happening, which is just how I like it

Lynnie, that is so nice to have loved ones visit and I assume Bruce is your grandson? I also have 4 precious grandchildren. We will have the middle girl and youngest ( my Little Man) come for a two night sleepover early next month. Once Andreas came along to make four we could not have them all come to stay at the same time with our car not having room for them all. Also I think Grandma ( me ) would get too frazzled with that many at once. We did have them all one night for Andreas' first sleep over with us and it went okay with me being a little nervous. The oldest told tales at home afterwards that Andreas had been very naughty which he had not been.
There will not be any more grandchildren for me as I only have the one daughter. She used to say she wanted 5 but after Andreas was born and he was a handful for her they got a dog and I jokingly said " Is Chica your 5th?" and her reply was... yes.
Today ( Friday ) I head off to a day of volunteer work in computer type work - a community facility where people use computer, fax, photocopier for a small fee. I get the use of a computer all day at my workstation/reception area which is good. Sometimes I will watch old TV shows like the Fugitive or movies on Youtube. I read through a Bible Study my husband and I do or do puzzles or play card games on the computer. This is all when there is no one needing my assistance. When I was selling my crocheted items at a Craft Co-operative, I would do some of my crocheting on Fridays.
I am in the middle of doing the washing before I head out for the day so I better get off this computer now.....

I have four grandchildren, now, Mark is 23; John turned 3 in July, Luke was born in April and Bruce was born in August. I had five children, so you would have thought they would have done a better job of giving me PILES of grandchildren, but no - very disobliging. I think James and Hannah are done at 2. Steven and Vanessa have just the one, so I think we will have at least one more there. Karen has not given me any yet - she is seriously falling down on her job!! Of course, I no longer have Chris and David, but David did give me Mark before he went.
I do have two step-grands from David's marriage. I have not seen them since they were quite young, but I do stay in touch.

I am not really retired - too young for a Government Pension. My husband, Ken is 13 years older than me making him 74 and is in receipt of an Aged Pension. I cannot get an Aged Pension for another 6 years. So the Government pays me an allowance for doing 15 hours a week volunteer work. My other volunteer work is what I would be doing even if I was not given the allowance - it is in Aged Care. I just love being with and helping the elderly. This year I have been doing some online studies in Dementia which has been very interesting as I do help at lunchtime on a Thursday with the residents in The Cottage which is the Dementia section of the facility.
