Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Yes, May went quick...but June and the nicer weather is finally here to stay for awhile.

Grand-daughter is in school until end of June here as well, son is finished University and the convocation is June 14th.

Susan, I couldn't find it on your wall either however I am sure it is a wonderful LO!

I started a 30 day AB Challenge for the month of June and always begin cycling to work so hopefully I will shed a few pounds that have accumulated this winter. Wish me LUCK!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

There was a free shredding event in my community on Friday, so I had also spent part of Thursday sorting, scanning and shredding old tax stuff and the like. I managed to get through two boxes and have only one box left. I am pretty happy about that. My daughter came down and worked on reorganizing my enclosed balcony to be an extra bedroom, since we have friends from France staying this week, then my son, James, in September and my cousin Mary in October. It took a lot of reorganizing.

Friday morning, I had a friend come over. She had some sparkly things that needed to be heat-pressed to various items of clothing. We managed to get them all done. It was good fun. I love crafting. I took my mother to her hearing aid appointment, then in the afternoon, Wendy came back over and we made hats to sell at the June Faire on Saturday. We added fancy stuff to existing hats and created fascinators from scratch. They were really adorable, but absolutely ridiculous :) They sell well, though. I got a few dozen made, but ended being up all night doing them.

Saturday was the Daughters of the British Empire June Faire. I had to leave at 5am to setup, then spent the day down there working. We earned $600 for charity, which is a good thing. It was a lot of work, though and I was so glad to get home.

Sunday I was exhausted and did very little. I scanned and shredded most of the day and went to bed fairly early.

Monday was a busy day at work, but I was still not feeling great, so got home fairly early. My daughter was over doing all our laundry, stripping beds, etc. and doing some housework. She is a gem, but I do pay her well. We are almost ready for our friends from France.

Today was a fiasco. My husband had an outpatient surgical procedure this morning. We had him at the outpatient center at 7am, as instructed, but the doctor had been instructed to go to a different center and did not get there until 9. As a result, I had thought I would be at work by 9 and I ended up closer to 11. I was not happy, neither was my husband, since the place he was waiting was quite cold! Still, I did make it to work okay :) EVENTUALLY ...

How is everyone doing? It is so quiet in this group...

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Well, today was my birthday, and it was a good one! :) I did a bunch of housework with DD, and we went grocery shopping. After a nice dinner of chicken enchiladas and salad, we went to a bookstore and puttered around for an hour or so. Best thing ever! :D

I think I am busier than ever!

I also think injuries have to hurt more before they get better! Sorry about that, I know that is how it was with my shoulder.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

A few steps forward a few steps back for our family.

Happy birthday Route 66.

Trying to get my autistic son to buckle down and finish school on a strong end and he thinks it’s useless and isn’t even trying. He tries so hard yet doesn’t meet standards.

My girl got her hair done today, she looks beautiful and I saw a genuine smile on her face for the first time in ages. She has been experiencing severe nerve pain after an operation, then a recent procedure to fix the nerve pain just made it worse. The girl needs a break.

We finally got a ticket booked for her to go to a camp specifically for children with solar urticaria (allergy to the sun (uv light)) in Albany ny in July. It is horrible to try to get flights from Calgary to Albany. We never imagined it would be this difficult. Insane hours, or multiple stops, long layovers, it got to the point we just settled. She has a six hour layover in Atlanta and gets to Albany at midnight. Not ideal at all.

My lilacs are slowly coming into bloom, they smell heavenly.

Sherri, it is exhausting, isn't it, trying to convince an autistic young thing that they should care enough about themselves to try hard. They confuse standards with personal accomplishments. I was always exhausted trying to deal with my David and my little Mark. He has grown up, Mark, but still does not quite value himself the way he should.

I am glad your daughter's hair cheered her up. It is difficult when someone you care about is in pain. My heart goes out to you. Good luck with those flights.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

To make things interesting, because of course its us, after we booked the hotel room in Albany we see in the fine print of the reservation no one under 21 can check in. In Alberta at 18 she is an adult. Apparently not in ny. Finally going up the corporate chain of command with the hotel we have permission for her to check in.

Not sure how or why, but my son pulled an 80 & 88 on to physics sections of science which should guarantee him a pass. English is still doubtful, Shakespeare did him in.

Computers he had struggled, which has destroyed his confidence as he wants to program as an adult.

A few more days and itll be finalized.

Oh my goodness, Sherri, things like this just pop up for you, don't they? (((HUGS)))

What's everyone planning for the weekend? We're going to a wedding tomorrow, but other than church, that's the most exciting thing, LOL. Quiet weekends aren't bad, are they? :)

I'm going to a Lavender Festival tomorrow . . . and I'm super excited about it. I swear by scenting the bedroom in lavender to aid sleep. I'll be off hunting purple kits to scrap with tomorrow night!

My youngest son (23 yo) is having back surgery this week, so he's spending his last "free" weekend fishing. He's already started the prep for surgery. It's a pretty big deal. I'm trying to get everything as ready as I can here at home. They recommend we remove scatter rugs and anything that could cause a trip/fall, make sure everything is super clean (infection is the enemy) and restrict our pets from his sleeping area a week out. We just wrapped up a kitchen renovation and I'm STILL cleaning up drywall dust . . . will it ever end?!!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

@pagefrocks, I hope your son recovers quickly. Infections are definitely the enemy. I had a bad one after my ICD implant and collapsed from septic shock.

this weekend is Father’s Day. Our girl is finishing up and submitting her last assignment for her course then she is done school for the year. Then she is packing for a three week trip to Virginia /Washington to visit heart friends, then attend a heart camp for heart kids like her. Then she flies directly to Toronto Ontario to attend a week long summit on diversity and inclusion. Then she comes home. I get her on her birthday and a few days then she is off to Albany to a camp for kids with solar urticaria,

the boy will be done his school year by thursday. We aren’t sure what he has passed and what he has failed.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

My boy has finally graduated University!:woot:Now he is looking for a job in another province. :cryhard

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hi all, sorry I have been conspicuous by my absence, but I have been in hospital. I went to the emergency room a week ago last Tuesday and sent me home with antibiotics. When all that did not work, I ended up back in emergency and they admitted me. So I have been here for eight days. They still do not have a handle on what is causing the problems, but maybe soon. I am seeing four different doctors for this, and am not much better than the day I was admitted .

Anyway, not up to typing a lot! I will keep you posted.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

awww Lynnie, big hugs and magic red threads. I was wondering where you were. Get well soon.

There's something going around! I have been off/on sick since end of April and on my 2nd round of antibiotics.

Oh Lynnie - I'm so sorry to hear you have been so sick. Maybe what you have is a case of trying to do too much. :) You are missed and I hope you recover quickly with whatever you have. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I did not see it on your wall. I went back to last Friday. I love the Los Rios District, it is so interesting.

Goodness, Kim, sounds as though you have had a rough time of it!

Ugh - sorry!! I will look for it again!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Gosh - how quiet the thread has been... I need to get back in business and stir up some energy here :)

I was released from hospital last Wednesday, weak as a kitten and still not very well. I will be out of work for a while, which is good because standing up and walking to the kitchen for a glass of water is a huge effort. I have two or three weeks rest and then I will be back at work. I wish I could retire, but that is not really on the books at present.

The day I was released from hospital and being wheeled down to the entrance to be picked up to go home, my brother took my mother to the emergency room with stomach pains. It turned out to be quite serious and now SHE is in the hospital. I thought it would have been quite ironic if she had taken the bed I vacated, but she is in a different ward.

We have been all at sixes and sevens. I got over to the hospital to see her today for the first time, but it was really more effort than I could manage. I am glad I went, though. It was lovely seeing her. She could not visit me in hospital and I could not see her, so it was three weeks we had not seen each other. We live in each other's pockets, so that was a hard separation :)

Anyway, she is bright and cheery, wrapping the hospital staff around her little finger, but she is not well at all. At this point, I think she is going to make it and she will be home in a week or two, but we still don't know for sure.

Over the weekend, we had the baby shower for my son and his wife. My niece drove me, but I was not able to participate much at all. I sat in their living room on a recliner while everyone was outside having fun. It was a sad thing. However, there were over 80 people at the shower and they had an amazing time. It was a spectacular event.

In the meantime, I hope all is good with you. Catch me up to date, please!!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am sorry you are still weak as a kitten, isn’t it the most helpless feeling? Feel better quick I miss you.

My daughter gets home on Saturday after 21 days of being away. She has had a great adventure but I miss her, it’s the longest we’ve been apart. She was in Washington DC and visiting a fellow heart family and did fun things, then attended a heart camp (a camp for kiddos with cardiac issues}, then flew to Toronto and is attending a Discoveries Canada program on diversity and inclusion.

I met another gingerscrapper today for drinks, talked for hours. It was great.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Not much going on here. I've been chauffeuring my daughter to band and back, but will now have a couple of weeks of break before band camp really starts. Watched her in a local parade this morning, so fun. :) Have started physical therapy for some abdominal pain I've been having on and off for over a year. I really hope it helps!

How lovely that they have camps to help learn to live with heart issues. Medical advances have come so far, and so has the social side of dealing with illness.

I love meeting new GingerScrappers. When I was in England, I met up with PepsiBubbles. She was an absolute delight. I loved meeting her.

It is always lovely to have a break from running kids around. I lived for weeks without dance! Not that there were that many... Physical therapy is always helpful. I hope it helps you out :)

I have been sitting on my butt binge watching TV Shows and eating pudding (which is one of the few things I can eat.) I am pretty bored. My daughter came down last night and washed all the bedding. It was lovely sleeping in clean sheets last night. While I was in the hospital, the pets had slept on my bed and I have not been well enough to wash the sheets when I got out of the hospital She also took down the air mattress we had up for visiting friends and restored my craft room to its normal self.

There is more work to be done, but it was a good start.
