Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

so I typed a whole post of what I have been up to the last few days & it went poof!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm just about to sit down & try & get my survivor layout done but I am so tired after a huge day working an obstacle event on my friends farm. Thankfully the rain held off until most had finished the obstacle course but it wa a long tiring day. Here is a little video of today https://www.facebook.com/RawChallengeGC/videos/2080584368729098/

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I'm having an OK weekend. Spent lots of time yesterday watching bad kung fu movies with hubby. At least they were a good laugh! Had lots of quality alone time too, as hubby was volunteering and DD was at a birthday party. Scrapped 3 pages!

Today has been weird. I unfortunately skipped church because I haven't been sleeping well and all that sleep debt just caught up to me today. But I feel better after taking that nap. It's kind of a nice, slow Sunday, family day.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Finally have all my CT requirements in for the week...suffering with a headache being on the computer so long today. Happy St. Paddy's everyone!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hey ladies! I'm sorry I've been pretty MIA this week. I had a really rough go of it. Not for any particular reason, but I just didn't feel myself. I was having a really hard time sleeping, and it was very hard for me to focus on anything. Thank the Lord it was spring break so I didn't have homeschooling to do on top of everything else.

Lynnie, I'm so happy to hear your mother is doing well after surgery! I love all the pages you've scrapped of her.

I just finished my layout for survivor for the week which had me really stressed. So glad it's done!

I hope you are feeling better. Homeschooling can be really stressful, you are with your children 24/7 and, much as you love them, that can be wearing. Plus you have the strain of prepping classes, etc. My best friend homeschooled her four children and she is still sane! I would go to her house and find all kinds of interesting things. Her walls were always decorated with history timelines. One time all objects in her house were labeled in French. She had the coolest field trips, I always wished I was one of her kids :)

Lynnie! OMG! Be careful! I'm so glad you got your layout done. How is your mom doing?

My neck and head still ache. I walloped that glass door really hard.

Mum is doing pretty well. She is an absolute trooper. I wish I could share some of her most humorous moments, but her injury is on her bottom, so I will refrain from doing so. All I can say is that a woman who has an excess of modesty had dealt with her current situation with so much humour and dignity. The nurse came one day and had to take a picture of the surgery site and she bared her bottom and said "Go ahead, and send a link if you post my bum on the internet!" I do love her so much and I respect her so much for how she is coping at this difficult time.

so I typed a whole post of what I have been up to the last few days & it went poof!

Don't you hate when things go poof! It happens to me a lot. You have such a busy life, I hope you know how glad we are that you have time to spend with us. I will definitely watch the video when I have a few minutes.

I skipped church, too, Ane. I needed to stay with my mum. I was going to leave her for an hour, took my shower and got ready, then had a little bit of a panic attack when I was getting ready to leave. Not a real panic attack, but I was very uncomfortable leaving, so I stayed home. I am glad I did.

I watched a lot of bad Kung Fu movies when I lived in Hawaii - at the movie theatre. They made me laugh too.

Glad you are caught up and hope you get some time to rest!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I got my haircut today, it feels so nice.

I went to the mall bymyself and just wandered. It was heaven. I seldom ever am by myself let alone being able to do something completely aimless.

On my way home, as I was passing an open area in the city there was a nice buck with about six yearlings with him, the mamas must be chasing them away getting ready for newborn fawns. It was been gloriously nice, snow is melting, water is running, but oh the snow mould is causing my allergies to act up. My eyes feel itchy, my nose running.

Ooh I love when I get to go somewhere alone!! I too am rarely alone, so it is heavenly. I'm glad you got some time to yourself!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I don't know what it is about this week, but the time seems to be going by so slowly to me!! I find myself waiting for the hours to pass LOL. That isn't normally a thing for me. I think it may be because for the past several weeks, we have had so many doctor appointments, activities, and errands to run, and this week I have almost nothing. Well, aside from dropping my daughter off at her play and dance practices.

I'm excited that the next challenge for Survivor is now posted, so I've got to get to thinking what my favorite outdoor activity is now. I enjoy several, so I'm not sure which to choose!

I am seldom, if ever, by myself. There is always either my mother or husband at home, then at work there are lots of people, and when I go out, it is always with someone. Those few hours I get from time to time I find very confusing :) What do I do with myself - do I get caught up, or just vegetate blissfully....

Ooh I love when I get to go somewhere alone!! I too am rarely alone, so it is heavenly. I'm glad you got some time to yourself!

It is heavenly, isn't it! Especially if you have children and their idea of letting to you go the bathroom is sticking their fingers under the door shouting "Are you done yet?"

I know exactly what I am going to do. I did a proof of concept layout, and I think I can do it. I have a picture of me digi-scrapping around a pool, I thought that would be pretty funny, but decided on my first thought. I think I will include the picture of me scrapping with my computer at the edge of the pool in the layout somewhere, though.... it is too funny and SO typical of me.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I’m just getting my footing around here and got my first couple of challenges done. I’ve got a lot of nature/wildlife photos to scrap. The challenges look great, I’m enjoying them. I’m done scrapping for the night and watching Big Brother Canada.

Welcome! I love doing the challenges too- they offer a way to stretch as a scrapper. :D

And speaking of challenges, what's everyone doing this weekend, besides working on their Survivor pages?

We're camping for the first time this year! I'm so excited! The weather is beautiful (in the 50- low 60's). It's suppose to rain tomorrow night, but that's okay because we have a camper. I'm taking pictures because I'm going to upload my pictures tomorrow and while it's raining tomorrow evening I'm going to make my survivor page :). I love that I can bring my computer with me.

How's your mom Lynnie?

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Ane - I've got a fun Saturday planned (weather permitting), I'm going on a photo walk with a bunch of other photographers to an old artsy community on the water. It's an area I've never been to before so am really looking forward to it. It's a long drive to get there but I think it'll be worth it. Tomorrow night will be tv show binging and a bit of scrapping.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am on cleaning frenzy this weekend, I know!! Not really a choice but a need to help! My brother moved back home in September and hasn't been well so he stayed with Mom. I helped him move to his new place last weekend and now this weekend I am going to clean Mom's apartment. Then I have the usual work to do at home before Monday. Have my LO done just want to tweak it a bit. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie, Glad to hear that your Mom is doing better. I know what you mean about your Mom, I feel the same way and if I can help in any way I just want to give back to her everything she has given me for my whole life!

Welcome, glad you have joined us. This is a great place to chatter :)

I seldom do challenges. I mean to, sometimes, but then I get all discombobulated, never remembering what I have done, what I have to do and coordinating them with actual layouts and albums I want to get done. I am such a disorganized scrapping mess. But, at least I got my survivor layout done, thank heavens. It didn't turn out the way I wanted and it does not have the WOW factor I was looking for, but I think it is okay. I will be happy if I make it to the final round, but who knows these days :) It is not how far you get, but how much fun you have along the way, right?

My weekend always starts on Friday, because I don't work that day. I love that!

Yesterday, I took my mum to the doctors and they took out all her wires and tubes. She feels as though she has a new lease on life and she is doing really, really, well. I could not be more pleased. She is 90 and the love of my life. She has been the best mother someone could ever have and I'm not quite ready to let her go...

Last night a friend came over to sit with mum and Rand and I went to see Aladdin (the stage show) at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center. It was fabulous. We were quite high up, but we had a great view and it was an outstanding performance. After, we got a picture with one of the cast... I will have to scrap it, it is quite delightful.

I also worked on the Survivor Immunity layout. The picture of my beloved dog is an old favourite of mine. I had a lovely time creating it.

Today I finished up my Survivor layout, finished up decorating some champagne glasses for my daughter-in-law's cousin's wedding. I made 10 and she needed two more, so I finished those today. She is due soon to pick them up.

I have to make some business cards for my brother. I love doing that. He is always so appreciative.

Sometime this weekend, I need to do my taxes. They always hang over my head to the last minute. My goal is to get them done earlier this year :)

Then the only other thing I need to do is go to church tomorrow. I haven't been in two weeks because I could not leave my mother alone. I have really missed it.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I love to go on photo-walks! My some and I sometimes go and in the summer months I try to drive to small towns to explore and do a few shoots. Have fun and I can't wait to see some of you LO's!

Sounds like a lot of fun... hope the weather was nice for you.... Glad to see you around, the challenges are a lot of fun.... looking forward to seeing your layouts...

Weather is starting to finally warm up here and drying the yard up a little, our dogs love the mud.... LOL My knee has been giving me a lot of problems and will be seeing a specialist soon to see what I can do about it... all this pain is not fun... by the end of the day my leg is throbbing... :(

Looking forward to seeing who all makes it to round 5 of survivor... you all are making it hard on picking who to vote for, all of the layouts are rockin it... Good Luck to all of you.... Have a GREAT DAY!

How's your mom Lynnie?

I love to camp, although it has been a few years. We camped as kids and they were so much fun. Then, when I got married to my second husband (38 years ago), he loved to camp, so we would end up at all kinds of interesting places camping. Of course, we never had internet back then, nor computers. I have not camped in about 15 years and might have a little trouble with the disconnect from technology. I may be slightly addicted.

I enjoy photo walks, too. I have discovered some fabulous places on photo walks. They are the most fun! I wish there were not such crowds heading to the flower fields right now, they would be amazing to photograph. There are hidden historical districts in Southern California that are really interesting. I love photographing England, when I visit.

I feel as though I spend my life cleaning, these days. Everything has to be so clean when I change the surgical dressings. They feel as though they are taking so long to heal and I want to make sure EVERYTHING is completely sterile when I change the dressings.

Lynnie, Glad to hear that your Mom is doing better. I know what you mean about your Mom, I feel the same way and if I can help in any way I just want to give back to her everything she has given me for my whole life!

I took her on an outing today to see my son's new house. She was a trooper, but we were really tired when we got home. I KNOW I need to go to church this morning, but I am worn out. Taking her out is such a challenge. She was amazing though.

I love to go on photo-walks! My some and I sometimes go and in the summer months I try to drive to small towns to explore and do a few shoots. Have fun and I can't wait to see some of you LO's!

Same here!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Nice to meet another fellow Canadian(I am from MB)...welcome to the Wafflers!

Hi Karen...nice to meet you too. I haven’t been to Manitoba for a long time!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

You people talking about Canada.... my daughter and her family are off to Calgary in May for three months. They did the same last year. My son-in-law is from Calgary and needs to return for business dealings. Michael still owns a house there that he rents out and it just happens again this year the timing is perfect for tenants moving out so they will stay in the house again and then re-let when they leave in August. The children have a lot of adventures. the older ones usually attend children's science school at the University that Michael attended when younger. This year the middle granddaughter will do a sky science class and also attend pottery lessons. The oldest granddaughter will attend physics class and also is so excited she will be having horse riding lessons at a ranch.
I will miss them while they are away but we will keep in touch via skype.

(for those that do not know me... I am from Australia and my daughter lives just over an hour from us).

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

So what does everyone have planned for the week? Anything exciting?

My week is going to be pretty hectic again, but I'm hoping to try to stay calm and just focus on one thing at a time so I don't get too overwhelmed. We have a few doctor appointments, 2 of which are about 45 minutes away, and then my oldest daughter also has play practice or work every day, and I'm her taxi driver haha. Nothing really very stressful, just fitting everything in and getting my normal stuff done! I'm feeling a little scrap deprived too since usually my weekend was so full with no scrapping this past week.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Anne-Marie - what an adventure for your family. They will have a great summer there!

Kelley - I work at home (medical transcription) and this wk is going to a light work wk which I'm happy for. I hope to get out at lunch time mid week if its not raining and get a few spring macro shots of the budding bushes and flowers, while Taz gets some exercise running around. I'm going to finish up my challenge LOs and want to edit some of the landscape photos I took on a photo walk Saturday. I need to start sorting thru my clothes too, its time to put the heavier sweaters and jackets away for the season and swap them out for spring stuff. So, not a super stressful wk or anything, should be a good wk ahead.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

HI Rae :) I hope you waffle along with us regularly.

I am back at work today after working from home for a week and a half. My mother is by herself for the first time since her surgery and I am, or course, worried. She will be fine, though. I am surely ready to retire. I wish I could work from home permanently, I am actually more productive there. I think it is because I am more comfortable. Office is noisy and never peaceful.

Son, Steven, and his wife, Vanessa, bought their first home . Escrow settled and they painted and moved in over the weekend. They have made good friends with their neighbours (who also were the prior owners of the home!) My mum and I popped in to see the house on Saturday and watch them paint for a bit. I got them pizza and then went home. They spent all day yesterday moving. I spent the day texting them to make sure Vanessa was not doing too much. She is expecting and we are all busy taking care of her :)

My daughter, Karen, is back from Mexico and spent the weekend moving in with them. They get along really well and have lived together before. She has her own room with a bathroom and is pretty stoked. Her next gig is Coachella, and then almost immediately after she will be in Vegas for a month. I just wish she was in one place long enough to BREATHE. She is picking up her dog from the long-term care ranch so they can spend some time together before she has to go back on the road. Geisha's second home is the ranch and she loves it there. She is a really well-adjusted dog.

What about everyone else? How was your weekend.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

My Saturday was pretty quiet and slow, which is nice, because my Sunday happened to be not so much. Last night my stomach started aching and before I went went to bed, I lost my dinner. I spent the whole night awake, finally getting to sleep shortly after 7. I slept about 5 hours before getting up and eating a little. Feeling OK so far. I'm taking it easy and will do so the rest of the day.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Actually made it to gym this morning - feeeling energised again now
Going to smash out a heap of work as its Tuesday morning here & hopefully get back & vote in time
So many great layouts going to be another tough one

I might actually miss out on participating in the last week of survivor as we have to work on Raw Challenge again - so we are away from Friday to work Saturday & Sunday's events then monday there is a dance studio coming so we have to stay for that too as one of the owners will be away & we have to help the owner take the group through the course. Lucky we enjoy getting out of the house & getting dirty out on the farm but it is real busy on the days - Hubby takes photos, the kids help on the obstacles & I am on the finish line handingout drinks & cutting the arm bands off competitors.

Funny some of the things we end up doing in life - if you asked me 20 years ago about being a footy mum to 5 kids & helping run obstacle events, I really would have laughed but here I am helping run a football club & obstacle events as well as our own sign business.

anyway I must go, washing & dishwasher awaits my asssitance, along with a pile of artwork & invoicing
hello to the new members & great to hear your mum is doing well Lynnie

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie, very busy for you and the family but glad to hear your Mum is getting well.
Ane, hope you feel better soon!
Sam, even though you are busy with Raw Challenge I hope you can squeeze in that last LO for the challenge here...I do enjoy your LO's.
My weekend was a short and busy one with housework but the weather is warming up. Took Mom to the eye dr today and her vision is getting worse (she has had reduced visibility for most of her life) but the dr will see her again in 3 months and decide if she requires laser surgery to fix a cataract surgery from when she was 4yrs old. A busy week ahead but I will have a visit on Friday from my grandie, Emily as she is on Spring break and then off to Costa Rica with her Dad.
