Hugs Sherri - you are dealing with so much. I hope that Alexis has a great time seeing TS and that your son finds a job soon.

I'm running errands and making muffins today, then hopping in the pool before scrapping and reading a bit later. Quiet day ahead.

I thought Fairytale was fantastic. It was different from anything Stephen King that I've read before. Honestly, I haven't read much of his books either, they're not usually my style. I'd say 4 star overall for me.

I've been reading a ton these last few years. I finished off 115 books last year, my goal for this year was 50 and I think I'm right on track to make that goal. I'm currently reading Brandon Sanderson, his Mistborn series. I think he's probably one of my favorite authors right now.

Sherri, you are going through some trying times. I hope life becomes much better for you and your health.

Hi everyone, Happy Thursday! :)

Sherri, I'm sorry you have to go through all this. I will be praying for you. I hope Alexis had a great birthday!

Made a peach pie last night with hubby. We haven't tasted it yet because it was still cooling past our bedtime! It'll have to wait until tomorrow, because tonight Eren and I are going to see Tears for Fears with one of their friends. I'm honored that Eren wanted to go to a concert with me. :) I have lots of things I need to do, but can't because we need to leave pretty early.

I hope you all have a great evening/morning!

I looked up the Mistborn series. I just requested the first in the series at our digi library.

I never got to see them in concert. Love their music.

Good morning ladies. I'm heading out to the dog park in a few minutes. Then get the dogs home (too hot to run errands and leave them in the car), head out for errands and groceries. This afternoon will be a dip in the pool and maybe some scrapping and reading. Watched the two hour finale to Blacklist last night and enjoyed it although I'm sad the series is over. I'm making devilled eggs with bacon to add to a salad for dinner filled with ham, nuts, gluten free air fried tortillas, peppers and tomatoes. Yum.

HAGD everyone.

You gals are always so busy! My life is very boring. I try to stay inside as much as possible because of the over 100 F temps outside. A dip in the pool helps a lot but, in this heat, even the water in the pool feels tepid.

Carla, we aren't that hot here but close. I could not survive without the pool. It sure feels good to cool off for a bit in there. I find even the a/c in the house doesn't completely cool me off b/c I'm in and out with the dogs all day so still out in the heat a lot.

I need to get in the pool for an hour this morning before our company comes this afternoon. They will want to sit inside so want to cool off first.

I am always busy but I feel my life is boring too :)

What a lot going on for some!!
Lynnie, I'm shocked at the cost of a space at the trailer park. And then come to find out it's a sardine tight one!! I hope Mark realizes how lucky he is to have you in his corner. And he has a gf now, too. Hope that will keep him on keel.

Sherri, God bless you and your daughter.

I hosted a lovely garden party last night. Weather was perfect, food delish and company divine. A mix of my longtime college era gfs and their mates, plus 2 Kailua mom days friends. The only group shot we took came out fuzzy, but we look happy, so I'm going to scrap it anyway!!

Did anyone see the aurora borialis they were predicting for the Midwest last week?

I watching the final match of Wimbledon, wow!

The aurora didn't actually materialize as much as they were predicting Glee. NOAA came out later and said that the early predictions were way off and it was going to stay further north. Much of the northern US got it. I have some friends in Idaho that got some absolutely GORGEOUS pictures, I mean GORGEOUS... pillars of deep magenta and green, with backgrounds of bright stars. SO jealous... so I loved vicariously through them.

How is everyone's week going? It's been pretty good for me so far- keeping busy while mostly hibernating inside. The temps here have ranged from the low 80's to the mid-90's, with a little rain every few days. It's rained enough today that I can skip watering the garden, yeehaw!

Wonder of all wonders, Eren asked me to go thrifting with them the other day. We both found a couple of pieces to buy before heading to a doctor appointment for Eren. It was for a shoulder injury they got while skateboarding a few months ago (typical college student putting off medical care). We had to go to a second place for an x-ray. No break, but now they need an MRI to see what's damaged. Joy. The goal we were hoping for was a referral to physical therapy, LOL, and we're getting a lot more. I guess it doesn't hurt to be safe. Now we're hoping for no surgery . . . school starts in just over a month.

Carla, I tried to google-up some borialis pix from Idaho w no luck. But of course, found stunning images of other events nonetheless.

Yikes, Ane. Definitely hope for no surgery.

Here we dodged any ill effects from tropical storm Calvin. My plants are being devoured by what I started to call "night beetles" as I found no pests on daytime looks. After talking to others, I've learned it's the Chinese Rose Beetle. Anyone heard of these or have remedies?

EWE!!! I just hate creepy-crawlies of any kind, but my Grampa Cliff had the most beautiful roses and he always used soapy water. I remember that distinctly because I remember helping! Anyway, I just Googled your Chinese Rose Beetle and one of the articles that popped up was this one that mentioned soapy water, among other things. Maybe it will help. Good luck!

Popping in to say hi everyone! Summer is going fast already, how is everyone's summer going?

I just booked a week vacation in October for hubby & I to meet our son in California...so excited. Lynnie, pm me maybe we can meet up if time permits?

I’ve been at home, Alexis is in Washington, Seattle doing touristy stuff this week until the Taylor Swift concert with her bestie. They must be having a great time because I haven’t heard much from her.
austins doing his best to look after me, poor kid just can’t handle my constant nausea much. I can’t handle my constant nausea.
it’s been hot, and I just melt, it rwally bothers me this summer, most likely my heart. Shrug.
i want to get out, I have cabin fever, but know that I just don’t feel well enough to do much.

Good morning ladies.

Sherri - sorry to hear the nausea is so bad.

Glee - ugh...beetles. Like Carla said, maybe the soapy water sprayed on the leaves will help. I used to have to do that in my garden to keep the critters off.

Karen - your Oct holiday will be fun with the family.

I'm staying mostly indoors today. The smoke from a wildfire outside Kamloops is heavy today so won't be out much except for short periods in the yard with the dog.

I have two more episodes to finish off season 2 of Yellowjackets tonight. Crazy show.

Later I'll make blueberry muffins and make a casserole for dinner. Quiet day.

Sherri - it sounds as though you are having a rough time of it. I wish there was something we could do to make you feel better. It must be so difficult with Alexis being gone. Poor Austin! At least is he trying :) I had a slightly upset tummy this morning and felt VERY sorry for myself. I can't even imagine battling it day in and day out, plus the heat. So much love coming your way.

Glee - There is a group on Facebook called Creative Gardening that has all kinds of help identifying the bugs that are bothering your roses and lots of advice on how to sort them out.

Karen - I am so excited about the prospect of seeing you in October. I hope you are making it to my part of the state. I will see about traveling to you, but with babysitting, I can't take too many days to go to another part of the state, still we will see.

Rae, I can only imagine how difficult it is with the smoke. We have had our share here, although fewer have affected us since we moved to the place we live now. There were cases when we lived in the hills when the ash fell like snowflakes.

Ane, it sounds as though you and Eren are having a lovely time together. It must be a delight for you :)

Carla (mini Cooper), I have a friend who lives in Scotland and often sees the Aurora Borealis, along with Orcas and all kinds of amazing things. I live vicariously through her also :)

Carla, If you are enjoying life, it is not boring :) And it seems smart to stay inside in hot weather.

To everyone I missed, I am sorry :) I have been gone too much and don't always get back here as often as I would like.

Hi all... I'm back and I think I've caught up on all the reading here. We had a great week at camp. Only had to go to the ER once (bruise wrist of a girl who was showing off doing back handsprings) and had to re-home one cabin that was infested with mice. Ewww. The management knew there was a problem, but didn't say anything to us, so I was not impressed with that. The kids were great. Weather was great. Didn't get a single mosquito bite UNTIL I got home... our very last stop... then I got a huge bite. Oh the irony! We had a whole new "leadership" team and they really struggled with their roles... lots of positioning, not much communication, lots of hurt feelings... oh the drama. I came home exhausted and have spent most of the weekend sleeping.

I was tickled to see that a couple of you are reading Brandon Sanderson. I just finished "Tres of the Emerald Sea" and really enjoyed it. Now I've started "Yumi and the Nightmare Painter" or something like that and I'm enjoying that, too.

I have one more big summer event...and it starts Friday. I'm expecting around 300 people for a conference with vendors, speakers, and two days of training. So Friday-Mon... and THEN I can catch my breath.

Hope you area ll doing well!

You ladies! The good, the bad and the ugly! I've caught up on the reading.

I don't recall where I left off last...
I very rarely go out with friends but did twice in 2 weeks.

I went to Jake's 58 (a casino 45 minutes away from me) with a girlfriend of mine whose son was in my daughter's grade. I only play the penny machines. I broke even. I won $25 but with dinner and parking, I broke even.

Then Sunday I went to brunch with my cousin and a friend we grew up with. My cousin lives around the corner and our friend lives in a neighboring town. Although we live so close, it is hard to coordinate schedules. We went to brunch and spent 3 hours catching up. It was pleasant, except we complained about our aches and pains of getting old. Our favorite thing to do when younger was skate... even in our basements... to the Grease album. We decided that we are going to see the remake together when it comes out.

This Saturday we are having a block party. My dear husband has decided to order pizza instead of standing over the BBQ. I would prefer BBQ because isn't that what a block party means! But he's the cook and I can't complain. Maybe I'll grab a hot dog from someone on the block. LOL! Than next Sunday my husband, son and I are going to a local wrestling event. Yes, I'm somewhat into wrestling but not as much as my husband! I've been watching it with him since we've been dating!

Be safe and stay well. I'll catch up again soon.

Shana, so sorry to hear of your accomodations, pitiful and to expect kids to sleep there! Hope you are all rested up now.

Wonderful Lily Ane, at least you ate and had a great time for only $25, that's a bargain these days! My hubby is wrestling crazy too, his fav from way back was Andre the Giant.

Rae, the smoke here is bad too, we had a downpour yesterday so it is slightly better today but everytime I go out cycling I come home smelling like I was camping with a firepit. YUK!

Hi to everyone and hopefully I will be scrapping some vacation photos soon, may have some time this weekend.

Thanks, Karen! Trying to get rested up. My big summer meeting for my directors starts Friday and runs through Monday. I've been working HARD at the office, then coming home and falling into bed. Last night's supper was a bag of peanuts! LOL!

Today's is my summer intern's last day. She's been amazing. It was her third summer working for me and I'm going to miss her terribly. Happily, she's getting her Masters at Georgetown in DC, so we already have plans to meet up when I'm out that way this fall!

I'm so ready for this event to be over... come Monday night, I'll actually have a chance to catch my breath! At least this one is inside! Today's actual temps are expected to reach 106!

Nice to see you back here, Lily Ann and Karen! :) Shana, I hope you make it through your big meeting! Lynnie, I miss you when you can't come!

I haven't been doing a lot of scrapping lately. Most working on different PS techniques with a class I'm taking. It's been fun, and I'm gearing up to sign up for another- I love learning new tricks in PS.

I'm just stumbling and bumbling through life, feeling like I'm not accomplishing a lot, but when I look back at the end of the day, I realized I've done a lot, even if I've made no visible progress. Isn't that life though? :)

Alexis came home tonight, exhausted but so happy.

‘’Friday is my boys birthday, he turns 20, no more teens in my house. He has grown so much in maturity over the last while. He really is amazing.

the air show that we haven’t had in years is this weekend but everyone keeps telling me it’s a bad idea for me to go, I hate that I have to agree with them, I was looking forward to it since Canadas snowbirds were announced ages ago.

Sherri - I am thinking of you and have you in my prayers.

Shana - I am sorry to hear about the rat infestation of the cabin and it is shocking that they did not mention it to you knowing that the kids would be staying there. Otherwise, it sounds like you all had a good time, except for the ER visit. I hope that young lady's wrist will be better soon.

We actually had a break in the humidity for a few days, but it came right back. It was nice to get outside and be able to actually breathe though! Poor Sassy, my Black Lab, feels it the worst here. She loves to go out in the back yard and play fetch, but it has been so hot that she just goes out, does her business and is ready to come right back inside!

I have been trying to keep up with my scrapbooking obligations and keeping the housework from getting too far out of hand. I may have gotten in the pool twice in the past week. Maybe I will have more time this next week to relax.

Ya'll stay safe and keep cool!

Feeling a little weepy this morning, today would have been my Mom's 80th birthday and I can't believe it has already been 83 days that she went to be with Dad. Time marches on....going to the cemetary today to ease my ache.
