Hi everybody, and happy Monday!

Eren got the job! They will be a delivery driver for Jimmy John's (a sandwich shop). I'm so excited for them! :)

Also, I've been nominated for LOTW again. I'd love your vote, if you haven't voted yet. It's called "Wild Thing" and has dinosaurs all over it. If you don't like mine, please do vote for one you like.

Ane, thank you for drawing our attention to your great page in LOTW.

The week has started cold and wet but the rain is needed for the farmers so I am not complaining.
Yesterday was my usual Monday morning working at the Community Craft Store (where Ken and I sell our crafts). I needed to work the full day and was training a new member who sells the cutest knitted and crocheted Teddies and other animals including Winnie the Pooh, Tigger etc.

Happy July everyone!
I totally missed the month of June here and still not caught up on reading it. June was very busy for us with baseball, dance recital, watching the g'kiddo's, more baseball. A N D dealing with my CPAP situation - which isn't going that well, but I'm dealing.

I've been doing a lot of scrapping, crafting and trying to photograph the birds in our new feeder along with the squirrels enjoying their new picnic bench.

Happy 4th to those who are celebrating.

Lynnie... LOVED the story and the siggy! Just lovely!

Congrats to Eren for getting the job! Whoot whoot!

Happy 4th to those in the US!

We got to go meet our newest family member, and yes... I've already created layouts which will be uploaded on Friday! Her name is Gracie Kay and she's just the sweetest little thing! Big brother Beau (who turns 2 later this month) isn't quite sure what to do with this new little baby, but they are a cute little family.

It's too hot to be outside for long this weekend, so we've spent most of the extended weekend inside. It gave me a chance to work on chores and some CT work before I leave for our youth leadership camp (one week from Friday).

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

:hi

I was looking through my gallery and noticed that I haven't been around since 2011! A lot has changed in 12 years. I'll spare you all the details, for now. Lol!

I started writing on my old blog again and challenged myself to spend more time being creative. Today is day 3 of this journey.

I miss the scrapbooking and the friends/family that came along with being active on this forum and in the scrappy community in general. I'm looking forward to picking up this hobby once again and hopefully making some new friends as I do it.

Happy 4th of July to all!

Welcome to the thread! We are all kinds in here, and it sounds like you'll fit in nicely! Congrats on sustaining your journey for 3 days. It can be overwhelming to retry a blog and scrapbooking. I came back to digiscrapping after a 5-year hiatus in 2017 and found things different after only 5 years. I can't imagine what it would be like to be away for 12 years! :)

Welcome back, Jill! Sometimes we need a break for all sorts of reasons. So glad you decided to leave a message here! Hope you are able to to continue your journey here, as well! :)

Hi Jill. The nice thing about scrapping and hanging out in the forum, you can come and go, it is always there when you want it. I'm sure you'll see a big difference in scrapping supplies after a 12 year break. Designs have come a long way since then.

I'm heading out for errands soon. Then home to play with the dogs in their little kiddie pool before I hop in our pool to cool off. Temps are in the 90's now so most days I'll be cooling off in the pool mid day.

I finished watching Alert: Missing Persons Unit and really enjoyed it. Glad it got renewed for a season two. Now I'm going to watch Will Trent and see if I like that show.

I need to hop in the shower and get out of here, Jen needs to be at physio soon (for her knee injury). HAGD everyone.

Ane, I had to giggle a bit about the job that Eren got, don't get me wrong "Jimmy John's" is a great sandwich shop but there is a bit of story behind this place. The scene...it is girl's weekend and we had a blast for the past 3 days and we were waiting for Walmart to open to do some last minute shopping before we headed to the border (we are from Canada) and my sister-in-law was reading the sign on the sandwich shop door and it said "FREE SMELLS". Well I guess we were still on our weekend high (lots of wine included) and we all burst into laughter and it was that day from then on that we couldn't go near Jimmy John's without someone start the laughing, it was usually my Mom cuz she always loved how we would laugh all weekend long. Thanks I really needed that memory today!

I am just dropping in quickly. It has been hectic. I am hoping to get a bit more scrapping done. I might scrap my beach memories; they got many lovely comments here.

I did catch up with all the news, but I don't have time to comment on things; we are off shortly to an art festival (our second this week) and a fantastic event called "Pageant of the Masters." They create living pictures on the stage of famous works of art. It is incredible.

Today, I presented to the history club on "Everyday Life in England during WWII. I created a 75-page Powerpoint for the event and talked about Mum growing up. There were so many lovely people there, and it went so well. I was pleased with the outcome.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Lynnie, what a neat presentation. I bet the group loved it!

Karen, YES... our local Jimmy Johns has the "free smells" sign, too! Cracks me up. While I don't really frequent that establishment, I do appreciate them. One time coming back from camp with a bus of hungry kids, the restaurant (in Colorado) where I had reservations for our group had a new manager that decided to be an a$$ and not set tables aside. He told our group of 50 that we could just take tables as they opened up (and would be scattered across the restaurant, making it difficult for us to get in and out quickly, and the fact that I was paying with one card, etc). So I took my group out of that restaurant and across the street to the Jimmy Johns... ONE girl was working as they had just opened. I asked her if I could order 50 sandwiches, get 50 bags of chips, 50 drinks, and 50 cookies. She looked a little pale, made a couple of very fast phone calls to call in a couple of reinforcements, and then got to work! We got our group fed, our kids were thrilled, they treated our group so well... it was a great experience. LOL!

What a QUICK-THINKING young lady! Well done on her part. We actually like JJs a lot and freddy picks it up for us every couple weeks on his way home from the Legion. That or Jersey Mike's which we like because of their donation policies.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Good morning ladies. Today it's CT posting day, I have some editing I want to do, errands to run (in 90+ heat...ugh) and then coffee/lunch with my ladies group this afternoon. Then I'll come home (probably sweating to death) so will hop in the pool to cool off. I'll play with the pups in their kiddie pool too. Remi loves to hop in to retrieve toys I throw in, Taz likes to just walk around in it and Bella only like to stay outside the pool and drink a bit of the water.

Lynnie - sounds like you are keeping busy, in a fun way!

Hope you all have a wonderful day. BFN

Awesome, I only ate there once but the sandwiches were good. Maybe when we are down in the US we will go again.

Finally, it FRIDAY!! Hope I get time to play this weekend. I am taking a quick break from cleaning my scrapping room, so many dust bunnies (cat fur).

This weekend is supposed to be nice, alot of rain here the last couple days. Two houses in my area were hit with lightning the other night, thankfully no one was injured and the damage is minor. I turned off the tv when I heard the first thunder roll just to be safe.

This weekend is the big "Volkswagon" night at the car show, they are my ultimate favorite old vehicle. I can't wait to go and see all the beauties!

Lynnie, your presentation sounds amazing, a lot of hard work but I am sure everyone loved it.

Rae, My brother just put a pool in and he right down the street so I might go for a dip soon.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Great posts, ladies! I think i'm going to be chuckling about Free Smells frequently. I could definitely see it becoming a thing to say in sooooo many situations. My family is like that. We latch onto a phrase and make it stick!

Rae, we loved Will Trent. Interesting characters and the story gets deep if you stick with it. Hope it gets renewed.
We just finished Vikings Valhalla. That was a great season ender, too. Now, gearing up for Witcher!!

More bon dancing this weekend and a party on Sat night after the local bon dance, too. There are quite a few of us in my Kailua Moms friend group who have summer birthdays and this is our one time fits all celebration together.

On a final note, I have to say I loved having 4th of July on a Tuesday! Since I don't work on W or F, I only had to work on Thursday this week as my work partner and I both decided to take Monday off, too. Staycation playcation!!

Karen - we have an abundance of dust bunnies (of the doggie variety), not surprising with 3 dogs. Hope you get to enjoy your brother's pool.

Glee - I checked and yes, Will Trent got renewed...yay! I need to see the new season of Witcher too. I just checked Vikings Valhalla and that looks good, as does the original Vikings. Now I need to add those to my list...ugh. So many things to watch LOL.

Happy Saturday! I enjoyed a nice walk around the neighborhood and a stop at the local coffee house before coming home to work on chores. I've started laying out everything I'll need for our camp (we leave Friday). Thanks for the tip about the Will Trent show. I don't have a lot of time for TV, but I do enjoy a good show. So I will look into that. I've been watching K-dramas and just finished the series "Mr. Queen" which was very light hearted and a had fun characters. Thank goodness for subtitles!

This afternoon, I've been invited to attend a "crop"... but very few of the ladies actually scrapbook at this event. But it's still fun to see what hobbies people bring to work on. Usually there are lots of stamping, card making, book folding, etc. I'm the only digi scrapper so they always save the table next to the power outlet for me! LOL! One time, a lady came who does the permanent jewelry (she solders the jewelry onto your body... not my style, but a lot of people came in and had her do necklaces, bracelets, and ankle bracelets). This is the first time they're having the crop start in the afternoon and go into the evening. I will probably only go for a couple of hours, as I like to be home in the evenings. As much traveling as I do for work, I really am quite the homebody when given a choice.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

What a day yesterday. I think I finally got grandson Mark settled. I am still worried about the finances, but I purchased an older travel trailer, and we found a park that charges $1000 a month for the space, so he at least has a roof over his head. The purchase, transport, and settlement took the entire day with many issues. Last night, Mark called to say the electric wasn't working. Fortunately, it appears to be that the battery may have gone flat, and overnight, it charged up. The electric was working today. I am so relieved but a little anxious about the additional money. It is a chunk of my monthly income now I am retired.

When I decided to purchase it and asked for the paperwork, they gave me something that didn't look quite right, so we went to the Department of Motor Vehicles to straighten it out. The DMV eventually changed the title, but the young man and his wife had to return to her grandmother's twice to get corrected paperwork. I was waiting around. Fortunately, it was a DMV service and not the actual DMV. The service was a small office, and they had coffee and snacks while I was waiting. Fortunately, the young man agreed to transport the trailer. I went to pick up Mark and his girlfriend, Crystal, then on to the trailer park to meet him and his wife. I had not seen the trailer park; it turned out to be a place where the trailers were crammed in like sardines. The people were lovely, and I think it will be fine for Mark, but not the best place in the world. The guy took forever to arrive, so it was another long waiting period. When he finally came, it took 45 minutes to back the trailer into the spot, not because he was a lousy driver but because the angles were so awkward. Five of the people who live there were helping direct. They were impressed that he was able to do it so well.

Anyway, after he left, I got Mark and Crystal settled in. I was exhausted when I got home but too restless to sleep. I am glad to have him settled; I still need to get him some dishes and some other things.

Oh Lynnie - I'm exhausted just reading about Mark's situation. Bless you for helping him. I hope financially it all works out, life is different when you are retired on a fixed income. We are still getting used to a fixed income. We were used to bonuses and extras through Darrell's job so we are learning to be more careful, knowing that our savings won't be replenished.

It's been in the 90's here so I've been in the pool every afternoon. I have to pop out to the drugstore for a prescription this morning and am not looking forward to it. I want to stay home in the a/c or in the pool in this kind of weather. I only go out for 5-10 minutes at a time with Remi to play before the heat starts to drain me. The smog/ozone index has been thick and a few days ago I felt sick by the time I returned home from errands. It really bothered my eyes too which scared me b/c with the advanced glaucoma, I have to be careful about inflaming my eyes any worse than they are. But luckily I put drops in every few hours that night and then I was ok.

I started Stephen King's Fairytale book which so far has been good. My book club meets for the first time this week so am looking forward to that. I'm glad to be getting back into reading again.

I'm going to head out to the drugstore now and get that over with, so then I can come home for the day. HAGD everyone.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I've had a pretty laid-back weekend. Yesterday we went to the farmer's market then picked peaches. After that was our regular shopping and a nice bike ride. Today was church and a nap afterward. It's been quiet since Eren started their job Thursday.

Lynnie, wow, you are grandmother of the year! I don't know how you do it all. I want to be you when I grow up. :)

Rae, it sounds like you're adjusting well to retirement. It's been in the 90's here too, plus high humidity. I don't blame you for wanting to be outside as little as possible.

Shana, how was your "crop?" I am a pretty big homebody too. I don't mind going places, but I always love getting back home, where I can be myself.

I just welcomed a new member here at Ginger Scraps. It is nice to see people still wanting to join digi sites as some sites are so quiet.

Rae, let me know what you think of that book. It's on my "want to read" list. Some of Stephen King's works I really like, but others I can leave!

Ane, fresh peaches sound so yummy! What do you plan to do with them? Do you have any favorite recipes?

Anne-Marie, you're so right. I love how active and welcoming this site is. Glad to see it's still attracting new people! :)

Our crop went well... as predicted, most of the people there were stamping or making cards. Ha... one of the younger ladies never brought in a single craft project. She worked on her bank statements on her phone, and then she just chatted with people. She was happy to pay the small admission fee to the crop just to have the social time!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Shana - I'll let you know what I think of Fairy Tale. I put it aside for a bit b/c I got Harlan Coben's book "I Will Find You" and the wait list behind me is about 15 people so if I don't read it now I'll be back at the end of the digi wait list. I'm liking this one too so far. I think they are both going to be good reads. My book club meets in a few days so I am thinking of putting both of these on their to-read list.

I've already been to the dog park this morning, the heat is ramping up, so I'll go run a few errands and then come home to hop in the pool. Lazy day.

Shana, we'll probably make jam with most of the peaches, maybe some ice cream with a few. We love peaches in this house!

Thank you everyone for voting for me in LOTW- just got an email confirming that I won! :)

Lynnie you are a star for figuring all that out.

‘’I’d love some social time with others, sounds like something I need.

im struggling so much. I still can’t watch tv, or game, or read much without feeling I’ll, I vomit so much, even though I’m on lots of meds not to.

‘’I had my pre-surgery talk with surgeon today, pretty much what we expected, he will try to use same old scars for extraction, and a new one for the implant. If pain is too bad I can stay in overnight maybe. It’s a tough call, we are three hours from the hospital, so even if I seem ok at discharge I still have a long trip home.

‘’a very dear friend that had her heart condition deteriorated around the same time as me in May had a heart transplant today, prayers for her would be great.

I saw my GP yesterday and talked about my visual difficulties, can’t read well, can’t watch tv, can’t game, get I’ll and her best guess is that during the shocks, the constant arrythmias over the extended hours limited oxygen, which irritated my already existing brain injury from the cardiac arrests I had 11 years ago. I don’t really understand, just know I’m so disturbed by it all. I vomit so often, exertion is rough on me. Maybe a higher heart rate which the new implant will give me, will help with that, or maybe not. No one will say anything for certain. It’s so frustrating.

‘’today I get to go and get a bunch of vaccinations updated that I am behind on. I hate needles, terrified of them, I cry like a baby, just had too many.

Tomorrow is Alexis birthday, she is busy dealing with my issues, and her grandmas issues, and is trying to get ready for her planned trip to Seattle with her bff to see Taylor swift, it’s been planned for so many months, I’m insisting she go, I’ll manage. Her bff is then moving to the UK to go to law school for three years. The two of them haven’t been separated for years. It will be hard on her. I’m so sad that she is so worried about me.

‘’my sons friend went back to work so he is alone. It’s hard. He hadn’t had much luck finding another job, and he is feeling down about it. I just haven’t been able to help him like I typically would.

Sherri, that's so much to deal with. I'm praying for you all. Hope Alexis can have a wonderful time at TS and just enjoy herself for a little bit. That has to be so hard to say good-bye to a life-long friend for three years, but the UK, for law school! WOW! Does she plan to come back to Canada to practice?

Hope your son can find a job soon too.

Praying that your surgery helps with all of your other issues too.

Peach jam sounds amazing, Ane. Send some this way! lol
