Sherri, I hope you feel better soon!

It's been an interesting weekend for me. I re-strained the right side of my back on Thursday (no idea how) and it hurts to move. I'm going to apply for more physical therapy, as I only have 2 visits left. Saturday, I watched (from home) a 4th of July parade that Eren participated in. They won the competition (some of you have seen my LO). Yesterday, I did the usual (church and nap) plus we went over some friends' house in the evening. We talked, played games and watched a bunch of illegal fireworks shows around their neighborhood. It was pretty fun! Today I was up and at 'em with more physical therapy and a grumpy child (do not know what triggered that) so it's been kind of a bummer day.

How about a classic massage? It helps a lot to stretch clogged muscles and improve lymph flow through the body.

Hi all
Hope you are doing well. I have been super busy with work still & working my way through a throat infection & several migraines. Thank goodness for my physio who has found the source of my migraines in my neck & shoulder, now to get back into gym to strengthen my shoulder back up so the migraines aren't as frequent.

My two youngest boys have celebrated birthdays in the last 2 weeks but we have also had a 3 day lockdown last week & back to wearing masks for the next week & a half due to some people getting the delta strain of covid. Not many people are vaccinated here yet due to vaccine deliveries being delayed & rollouts being slow amongst other things. All the kids have a few more days left of winter holidays, we have not ventured out much due to lockdown & work but my older boys are happy on their devices playing games online with friends, if only they would do their chores as happily!

Might try & get some tie-dying done with the kids tomorrow or Friday, bought a kit but didn't have any shirts or anything & then we got put in lockdown, between that & migraines I haven't been able to venture out & get something for them to dye, the older boys keep saying they aren't interested but I can almost guarantee as soon as I mix the dye they will be wanting to make something, can't help themselves!

take care all

Oh SAM!!! I'm so sorry about the migraines AND lockdown. Glad you found some relief. Migraines are the worst. I thought I was getting one again, the other day... first time in ages and it really scared the begeeezes outta me, but I was able to ward it off by going straight to bed. Thankfully, I was ABLE to go straight to bed! Mine have in control for years now and I never want to go through that again.

Ane, hope you get your back figured out. I have to be super careful in that area too.

Sheri, hope you're feeling better.

We had a lovely 4th July.

I got up really early and made Tex Mex burger patties. I made a vegan version for my daughter, her fella and his mother and I made plain old (organic) ground beef for us. I made one for my mother without the spices. I made uncooked patties so we cold grill them there. I also sliced tomatoes and onions. We had buns, chips and lettuce also.

We went over to son Steven's house. There were just the eight adults and little Bruce. Steven and wife Nessa; daughter Karen, her boyfriend, Jon and his mum, Kim; husband Rand, mum Ruby and me. Grandson Bruce was adorable. We had burgers, brews and watched the Patriot. When the sun went down, we lit sparklers. I got tons of pictures.

Today was grandson, John's birthday. He is FiVE!! I can't believe it. He lives in England, so we attended his birthday via Zoom. Daughter-in-law, Hannah, had made a rocket cake and the birthday candle was like a Roman candle at the bottom of the rocket. I can't wait to scrap it, it was AWESOME. I am so grateful we get to hang out with them online!

We are having our windows replaced with energy efficient windows. Today we got a notice from the HOA that our bathroom window was not present on the original plans when this was built in 1966, therefore we had to pay a $300 penalty, plus an additional permit fee that was not paid when the window was built. Well, it was there when we bought the condo, so I don't understand WHY we have to pay a penalty. I am so irritated. Now I am in an all out battle with the HOA on this.

Nellie and Lynnie, one of my physical therapists massaged the re-tweaked area the day after I re-tweaked it. Hubby gave me another massage in that area a couple days later. It helps for a few minutes but tightens up again pretty quickly. The thing that's helped the most is a Jovi patch (kills pain by cutting off nerve signals to the brain, or something like that. Google "Jovi" for more info). Only it doesn't work well on my abdominal pain, but I'm pleased to have an alternative to a heating pad for my back. I have also applied to my insurance co. for more PT. I hope they sign off on it!

Talking to my doc she thought food poisoning or some kind of toxin. I lost most of this week, missing whole days. Terrible nightmares while sleeping, and just having no energy. I think I’ve fluids would have helped but having to go through the ER was more energy than I had. I’ve been drinking lots. I lost 8 pounds while ill, that’s shocking to me. Today I started feeling human again.

Kids Dad took both to dentist, a new one as our old fav retired, I wasn’t sure how Austin would do, but it went really well. Alexis has a cavity. And still needs her wisdom teeth out. Her surgery was cancelled days before it in March 2020 when everything shutdown. She was just put on the active surgery list, just before the shutdown earlier this spring. Apparently delayed surgeries will be very hard to make up for. Lists were long waits before, but even longer now.

Can any of you usa peeps help me out. A Facebook friends husband just made colonel. What does that actually mean? I know it’s a rank but not much else.

Sherri, You peaked my curisoity as I am not from a military family so I googled it. Congrats to your friends hubby!!

Colonel, the highest field-grade officer, ranking just below the general officer grades in most armies or below brigadier in the British services. A colonel was traditionally the commanding officer of a regiment or brigade.

Yes Sheri, Colonel is quite the achievement! Which branch of our military? It actually does make a bit of a difference, believe it or not. But still a very high honor and not one that many make. Comes with a lot of pomp and circumstance with the commendation and then it's a bunch of ordering people around. lol
I sure hope you're feeling better, my friend. Frightens me that you lost days and weight. I'm sorry we're not closer in proximity.

Good morning ladies. Hope you all have a great day. I'm busy with CT stuff, have tax papers to sort thru (ack...I'm late this year getting it done) and need to get out to run errands later.

Speaking of ranks...I just scrapped a heritage page for my great grandfathers brother, Edward. He had quite an active service in the military and I was totally confused as to his promotions. I finally gave up. He started out in the 14th Kings Hussars, which was a horse regiment and served for 13 years, then transferred to the Australian Imperial Army. I was trying to read through his record and was totally baffled. I think you need a degree to sort it all out.

Sherri, I'm glad you're feeling better too! :)

Karen, thanks for beating me to that explanation of Colonel. I couldn't have done better and my hubby was in the Air Force for 20 years.

We are still waiting on permits to get renovations moving again.
Got some things accomplished this week with paperwork... started applying for loan for reno, talked to insurance carrier about home insurance and adding my dad's car onto our policy, started change over for gas bills, water bills, electric bills and oil delivery service. Still have to change tax bills into my name when deeds finally go through to county clerks office.
Don't remember if I told you that I feel at work. Still not feeling 100%... age sure makes healing slower. Very achy in back and knees. Primary doc prescribed anti-inflammatory meds. Also found out I'm pre-diabetic so she started me on some meds for that and will check blood work again in three months.
I'll check in again soon. I can't wait till I can find time to sit and scrap!

I have been very quiet here lately because I have been very busy in a Guest spot on another site for last month and this one. I doubt they would ask me to be permanent and I would not want it anyway... taking up way too much of my time and I am not getting the scrapping done that I really want to do.

I have started a new way for doing the Art Journal - Random Challenge HERE
I am hoping I will still get some participation from those who like to dabble in Art Journaling.

Ane, I hope all the pain you experience will go away.
Sherri, I hope you continue to feel human!

Good morning ladies. Taking Remi in for her post-surgery visit (spaying). Hard to believe she is 6 mths old now. I'm finally sitting down to get some CT work done. Was up at 6, fed the dogs at 6:30, outside playing with dogs after that, took some bird photos, played with dogs again (managed to drink 2 cups of coffee during all this), then sat down at my computer at 9:30. Time sure flies :)

I need to get some more paper work done this afternoon and hope to binge watch a couple of shows later. My PVR is still 65% full and we're getting new equipment in 2 wks so hope to watch a fair amount of it before giving the box back to the cable company.

Enjoy your day everyone. BFN

Happy Sunday everyone, I went out for my usual bike ride this morning and got really overwhelmed, felt dizzy and had to rest before I could carry on home. It's a HOT one today, 34c / 35c with humidex, all before noon. There seems to be some relief with rain expected tomorrow, my grass is fried and I have loads of weeding to do. Guess I will tackle the inside today, never short of chores to do.

Sherri, I hope you are feeling better.

Lynnie, John is FIVE!! Wow, how time flies. Me and all my school girlfriends are turning 60 this year. Yesterday I did a video for one of my friends with a bunch of us sending her wishes and we chipped in for a day at the spa, she was so surprised and loved it. We were all supposed to go on a trip this year to celebrate together so hopefully we will be able to do this when things are safe to do so.

Ane, That JOVI patch sounds interesting, my hubby has a back injury and is suffering from acute pain. He is currently waiting for surgery....may have to look into it.

LilyAnn, Sorry to here you are not well, glad you are working on keeping the diabetes in check. My Mom and brother have serious complications from being diabetic and it really sucks!

Rae, I always enjoy all your bird layouts. I never seem to be able to capture great shots like you!

AM, I will have to stop by your Art Journal post, you are so inspiring.

Bye for now...

Karen. The heat is overwhelming and we are not even that hot today. I don't do heat at all. I may hang out in my mother's room, where the air is on. We don't often turn the air on in the rest of the house. I always listen when they say 'conserve energy!' Of course we have fans on.

John is definitely FIVE, and five is our family lucky number, we are so thrilled to have him at that age!! That was a nice thing to do for your friend. I have a bunch of friends from high school that I still see a lot. Funnily enough, I was not that close to them in high school, but we have become close through reunions. I have a handful of friends from back then that I see regularly. Hanging out with my brother, though, is like being back in school. He has so many close friends from back then.

Ane, I looked into the JOVI patches and the reviews were really mixed. Tell us a little more about your experience.

LilyAnn, Hope things start looking up for you soon with your health and the upgrades to the house. I don't remember if I mentioned our last little headache just getting windows. The HOA has claimed that the bathroom window was not there when the building was built, so we have to pay the original cost of the window, the permit fee for the window and a penalty fee, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE PHOTOGRAPHIC evidence that the windows were there when we bought the place. The penalty fee is $300, the permit is $300 and heaven knows what the original cost is. We are fighting it. I don't hold much hope. We think it will be total between $2000 and $3000 extra.

Rae, It sounds as though you are back in the swing of things with CT and the pups. I am looking forward to seeing all your pages.

Anne-Marie, I will definitely be doing the Art Journaling challenge, and I might catch up with the one I missed :) I will work my way through the alphabet and keep the challenge bumped :)

Sylfie, how are things going? With both the pups and the fella?

We had a busy day yesterday. A storm blew one of our trees down early yesterday morning. Fortunately it didn't hit anyone or anything. So after we took our turn cleaning our church building, we came back and started taking care of that tree. Hubby bought a small chainsaw and went to town cutting it up. We had 4 friends come help us. Between the saw and loppers, we got all the limbs pruned and bagged before it started raining again. There's still a section of the tree that we're going to get the pros to do, but it is at least all out of the way. And then we had to go shopping, LOL!

Today was pretty quiet. We had church and I skipped my nap to tidy the house a bit, because we had a friend come over. But that's ok, I'll sleep better tonight for it.

Jovi patches are marketed toward women for relieving the pain for menstrual cramps, but they have reviewers who have used them all over the body. It hasn't helped with my abdominal pain, which is what I got it for, but it has helped with my pain from a strained back. I even used it on my head for a migraine I'd had for 2 days. It wiped it out and I was able to go to sleep. My back was hurting from helping clean the church building yesterday, so at first I didn't go help with the tree. I put the patch on and after a little while, I was able to go help with the tree. No lasting soreness either. I have friends with the patch, whose husbands wear it for their aches and pains as well. That's how I hear about it. There are other similar patches, but so far I'm having a pretty good experience with this one.

I wonder if that patch is available in Canada? I wonder if it would help alexis nerve pain?

she turned 21 today, or yesterday the 12th. How did she get that old? How? I was an emotional wreck with it today. Had a nice quiet day spending time with her.

I too am chasing our accountant to get taxes filed. They have had them over three weeks. Usually their service is great, this year not so much.

A friend brought over a bunch of rhubarb - anyone got any recipes for it?

he commissioned into army 22 years ago. It was cute the “informal” pics they took had their girls wearing different hats he needed through the ranks. I liked the “cav” one, don’t know what that is, but I liked the hat.

I just make Rhubarb-Strawberry Jam, I use this recipe from Pinterest. It has a lot of sugar but we don't eat it everyday so I have not experimented with using substitutes. Rhubarb-Strawberry cobbler is nice too, no recipe though, try Pinterest.

  • 5 cups rhubarb (about 3 large stalks, cut into 1⁄2" cubes)
  • ▢2 cups hulled and halved strawberries (about 1 pint)
  • ▢2 ¼ cups sugar
  • ▢1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from about half of a large lemon)

I went to the chiropractor today and had two ribs adjusted... OUCH! Plus a knee (OUCH! OUCH!) and a hip (OUCH OUCH!!)

I am a little sore right now haha!

Lynnie, do you find you sleep better the night after you get adjusted. My father used to sleep like a baby after he'd come home from being "clicked".

I am doing well. Taking care of some medical things with Eren for the new school year. Band camp starts next week. They are going to make it as "normal" as humanly possible for the kids. It is their last one, so I am getting all the swag this year, LOL.
