Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Over a week out of the hospital and I am barely back on my feet. Mum is still in hospital, I have only been to visit once. Mum will be in another week or so at least, assuming all goes well.

I have been getting some scrapping. I am so pleased to be able to scrap. That is something, at least. It is so fabulous to be able to scrap and the comments are so uplifting ... almost like a get well card :)

Have not done a thing, except hire someone to clean my carpet. I have someone coming over Tuesday to clean.

A friend came over on Friday to craft gift boxes. That was fun! I wore out pretty quickly. I worked 10 minutes at a time picking up my craft room. I sat down when I was tired and stopped before I was worn out. I know that in addition to eating well, I do need to make sure I get up, walk around and do light stuff. It is part of bringing up my strength. I am making sure I don't set myself back at all.

What is everyone else up to?

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Oh, I'm not up to much. Church today, and a nap. This week promises to be interesting, with various tradespeople coming over to evaluate various work we need done on the house. I have physical therapy once a week for the next few weeks, and a couple of doctor appointments for DD this week. At least that will get us out of the house as she has a couple weeks' break from band.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am venturing out into the world and getting my nails done today. I am not sure I am really up to going out, but I thought I would give it a try :)

Plus I have been scrapping - that is a huge plus!

I’ve been playing nursemaid to my daughter, she came home from her trip with pneumonia.

Its been so cool and rainy its not like summer at all.

She came back from heart camp with pneumonia? That is not a good thing. I would have thought she learned things to be more healthy! Just what you need, too! I hope things go a little better from hear on out.

It has been cooler here than usual, too. We anticipate a really hot summer in Southern California, but we have the air all ready to go...

What happened to your siggie?

I am getting a little better every day. I had a bit of a rough day yesterday, but that is behind me now and I felt great when I got up. I am taking that into the rest of the day.

I have been scrapping a lot. And buying a lot :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I'll take that cool and rainy over the hot hot we've got here! We have 2 air conditioners for our house, 1 for each floor, and they both failed this week. *sigh* We have someone to fix it but not til Sunday- they are slammed because of the weather. They were nice enough to loan us 2 portable a/c units though. :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

We just got our air fixed. I have the door open and a fan going, to save money, but the temperature is quite bearable. I am off for another two weeks, but I am really looking forward to retiring. It will be amazing to not have to work every day.

I have been scrapping my heart out. This is yesterday and today's contributions to my gallery. They are not linked so do not feel obliged to comment :) I am just so pleased to have a bit of inspiration running through my veins after so long.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Still scrapping! I have a monthly scrapping club in my community and we meet on the second Saturday of the month. I am not really up to it this month, but I am here :) I did not advertise it, so hopefully not too many people show up. My daughter is here doing the lifting and carrying. I am digiscrapping today - I could not face choosing the papers etc that I needed to bring for paper-scrapping. She brought the Cricut because she wanted to learn to use it. She has a tiny one. They work the same, mine just takes bigger sheets of paper. She cuts out shapes then paints them with watercolours.

Then she is going to spend the rest of the day with my mother at the hospital. My mother is so afraid she is not going to come home, but we keep reassuring her that we definitely are not letting her stay in a home. I really miss having her home.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie love your scrap pages... Hope you are getting your strength back, I am still worn out from the visit with my 3 youngest grand children, I just can't hardly keep up with them anymore, my body aches all over... Glad you are venturing out, hope it went well... just don't over do it...
I need to get some challenges done, I am way behind on that this month, hope to catch up some te next few days... Of coarse I spent to much in the shop again... But it is so much fun looking at the new kits, the designers here are just to good... LOL Well hope your Mum and you are both doing better... always sending prayers and hugs... :)

Hope you are gaining strength Lynnie

my daughter was recovered well enough to attend a camp near Albany New York for kids with severe photo sensitivities. She has solar urticaria which is an allergy to the UV light (the sun). The camp is in blacked out, or protected windows and activities at night. She sounds so enthused and loving it.

Trying to get the boy child off video gaming for his sanity.

My husband fell and broke or severely sprained his wrist.

Today July 17 is my 7 year re-birthday. It’s the day I died, but we don’t celebrate that, but we do honour that I lived. In the cardiac arrest world we call those days rebirthdays.

I cant tell you how important it is to learn cpr and learn the use of an AED. And even if you aren’t trained officially there are apps and videos to show you. Know where aeds are. Advocate for your schools to have them, to teach cpr. And last but not least be willing to step in and help. You can’t hurt dead, but you can certainly create precious life.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

It is so funny. I used to really be into challenges, now I just scrap. I find it overwhelming to keep track of challenges, so I just don't do them :)

Yesterday, I thought I was feeling so much better in the afternoon, but I seem to have come down with a cold.

My mother has to go in for another scan today. The doctors, hospital, nursing home, etc. do not seem to talk to each other and one of the doctors authorized the scan, then left a message on my mother's phone that she needed to schedule it. You have to understand, my mother can barely lift her head right now, so we did not get the message. They know they are supposed to call me. So the scanning place says they can't fit her in until August. Understand that until the scan comes back clear, my mother is not allowed to eat. My brother (bless him) explained the problem to the scanning place and they are opening early so she can get a scan done today. Dave spent the night here and left at 4:15am to go to the nursing home and make her drink the contrast fluid she has to drink to have the scan. She cried yesterday when she knew she had to drink it. Dave had to arrange for transportation and will go to the scan with her and bring her back, then follow up with the doctors. Mum had a fall yesterday. The nursing home staff did not come in time to get her to the bathroom so she got up by herself. It was about 5am. They had to get a doctor in and all, but she seems to be doing okay.

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well. The thread does not seem to be as lively as it was for a while.

The UV light sensitive daughter, is that the same one with the heart condition? Poor thing. I can't imagine.

My son (that I lost) and grandson are gaming addicts. It was their escape from reality. It used to drive me crazy, but then I realized they had so little in their lives that was wonderful. Gaming was an escape. Good luck, it is so addictive.

I hope your husband's wrist heals quickly.

Happy re-birthday! Take care of your health. Thanks for the CPR/AED reminder.

Yes, she “won” the genetic lottery she also has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

it is his escape, it’s his way to decompress.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Just treading water here. Everything is fixed- it is so nice to not be sleeping on the couch. Thinking about going back to school shopping this week as DD has band camp for the next 2 weeks. My motivation to do anything has disappeared and I have no idea how to find it. I should be scrapping and writing but I just can't. I need a magic pill to get my motivation back!

You must really be struggling with all her health issues, along with hers. BIG HUG.

I understand his obsession totally. I have my ways of decompressing.

Ane, I, too, wish there was a magic pill. I am glad I am scrapping right now, or I would go out of my mind. For quite a while, though, I was staring at my TV like a zombie, day in and day out. It was not fun! All I can recommend (and it is easy to say, not easy to do!) is to JUST BEGIN IT. Tell yourself that you will work on something for just fifteen minutes and if you are not inspired, come back to it later and do the same thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

I highly recommend showers when you are at your lowest. The idea is that falling water splits normally neutral particles in the air and frees up negative ions. The negative ions in turn bond with neighboring smaller air particles, which gives the new compound an overall negative charge. The newly formed negatively-charged air molecules tend to occur near waterfalls or breaking ocean surf.
Flowing water from showers can result in negative ions. We tend to have better moods, increased alertness, or fewer occurrences of illness around places where water crashes such as waterfalls, beaches, or even our bathroom shower.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I just tried to catch up on the thread. I'm so sorry to hear of everyone's health issues. I should be grateful that I am just getting old and tired instead of broken and in pain. Lynnie - so sorry about your mom. I hope the scan helps and she is able to eat again. My mom is going downhill in the memory part fast. She has good days and bad but thankfully she still knows who everyone is and doesn't get lost when she drives to our houses or to bridge. Thank goodness for her bridge days!

Hang in there everyone. The summer heat should be letting up in a few weeks and maybe things will return to normal when the weather allows us to breathe again. :)

My grandson is having a sleepover tonight so after some snuggles, a short "show" he has finally konked out. I took a 3 hour nap today so I most likely will be able to function tomorrow. I don't sleep well when he is over. I think that mom gene kicks in and makes me a super light sleeper and I hear every single sound the house and he makes. I love having him so it is all worth it. His little giggles and smiles are a highlight of my days.

I think we all need to go have a party on the beach and listen to the waves crash.

Heidi, It sounds as though you had a lovely time with the grandson! Giggles are loads of fun, aren't they! And you are right, we need to go to the beach and listen to the waves :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Well, what a busy week it has been. I posted about the awful day we had the day mum had her scan. I didn't think she would ever come home, but surprisingly, the results were clear and they released her on Saturday. I can't describe how lovely it is having her here. She sleeps a lot and she is very weak. They left the drain in her stomach, so I have to get her to a doctor to get it removed, which will be really difficult. She is terrified that she has to go back in the hospital to get it removed. I am trying to get an appointment scheduled to get it removed.

Between doctor appointments, blood tests, etc. I am exhausted.

BUT - I am so much more cheerful in spirits now we have her home :)

Saturday was also MOON DAY! We celebrate the landing of the moon every year and this year was the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. We went to the Richard Nixon Library where they had a huge event around Apollo 11. We had to stand in line for 1 1/2 hours. Rand had to drop me off right at the door and I had to sit down a lot, but at least we got to see it all. The kids came over after and we celebrated in style. I had made a special shirt for my husband and we all had less elaborate Moon Day shirts. We even made one for the baby who is due in the next two weeks. I had also made him an 11x17 book of the transcript of the Apollo 11 flight from beginning to end. It was VERY exciting :)

I spend Sunday recovering from Moon Day, haha! (Not from alcohol or anything, just from fatigue.)

The cleaning lady came today. One of the beautiful women from the office paid for the cleaning lady for four hours. Bless her! My cleaning lady is a entertaining. She pays great attention to detail and does a lovely job, but she always manages to break something :) I hesitate to request a different one from the agency because she is such a sweetheart. She recently battled breast cancer and is struggling in life but she has such a wonderful disposition. Hopefully my house will withstand her ministrations :) Last time she broke a dish I keep my by sink so my mum doesn't have to carry tea bags to the rubbish. This time she managed to upset a shelf in the fridge and send the contents flying everywhere. Nothing actually broke, but it was a terrifying moment. Still, I think we will keep her. She needs us.

Today, my feet are up and I am in my pajamas at 2:45 in the afternoon.

I actually did that by myself recently (back in May but is seems like recently). I could have taken friends or family with me but felt like I needed time alone to try and achieve some calmness of spirit. I hopped on a $2.50 pensioner coach to the coast 4 hours away, stayed in a cabin in a caravan park close to the beach where I could hear the waves crashing at night, I walked the beach, climbed the rocks, watched dolphins playing just a few metres away in the river, I sat beside the ocean and in quirky coffee shops reading my books.... it was so therapeutic. I will do it again later in the year.

Lynnie - You are a delight. I don't have much to add to this thread but I really enjoy your way with words; and the love you have for your Mum. What a sweetheart you are and I am sure you got that from her. Give her and yourself gentle hugs from me.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I got my girl back home again, she had a fantastic time at sun camp.

That sounds lovely and very healing. There have been scientific tests that the waves crashing on the rocks cause something to bang into each other and they create negative ions that create positive energy and feelings of peace. I really believe it.

I will, thank you! And thank you for your kind words. My mother is probably the most wonderful woman to ever grace the face of the earth. She has such a positive attitude and cheery disposition. My brother and I are the best of friends and absolutely adore each other. There is never any family falling out and I firmly believe that it is because my mother has set herself up as the most wonderful matriarch a family has ever had. We are so blessed.

Well, we have heard all the odds and ends that happened, too. I am so glad she had such a great time.

Man I am struggling tonight with the siggy. LOL

It looks wonderful.

That sounds absolutely delightful! It is a 14-18 hour drive to the beach from here and at least $1000 so going to the beach is out for me but I just might find some surf sounds on YouTube and pretend to be at the beach. Hahaha.

There is a really good mp3 album you can purchase by Joe Baker that has surf. I listen to it at night. It is an hour long and fabulous.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

SO....

I went to the doctor Wednesday and he extended my leave from work. I am so glad. I am definitely not ready to go back to work. I am tired all the time, foggy brain and I can't concentrate. I am able to do more things physically, although there is still quite bit of stomach pain. I am looking forward to retiring in October.

But I some wonderful new photos to scrap of a maternity shoot that my son and his wife did. They are wonderful pictures and my DIL has given me permission to scrap all that I want. (I adore her!) I am looking forward to scrapping :)

AND... baby had not turned yet and the doc was concerned. He said they would try to turn the baby manually and if that did not work, they would have to do a C-Section. She is at risk for preeclampsia. Anyway, they manually turned the baby on Wednesday. Nessa said he turned really easily and he has stayed turned. So... baby coming soon! I am so excited.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

How are everyone's weekends looking? Tomorrow is a busy day for me, as we have a wedding and reception to attend, cleaning the church, and shopping. Should be an interesting day! Sunday is just church and lots of family time.

Lynnie, I'm glad you are improving more and more and you must be so excited for that grandbaby! These are certainly exciting times, aren't they? :D
