Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Today was my first day back at the office since my mother's surgery. I like working from home better ;)

I had to stop for gas, then at the grocery store after work. When I got home, I made a big pot of beef stew in my instant pot. It was SO good. I have to get everything together for my tax guy today. It is my least favourite thing to do, that and paying bills and any kind of paperwork.

But... in the meantime I will look at my scrapping supplies. I do like looking at them :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Thanks for the feedback on my layouts Karen
I will do my best to get one done but it will depend on the deadline as I won' have my computer again until late monday (Sunday US time) we will literally be 45 minutes from town in the middle of nowhere. I will try & post some photos from my phone if I can get service

Lynnie, very busy for you and the family but glad to hear your Mum is getting well.
Ane, hope you feel better soon!
Sam, even though you are busy with Raw Challenge I hope you can squeeze in that last LO for the challenge here...I do enjoy your LO's.
My weekend was a short and busy one with housework but the weather is warming up. Took Mom to the eye dr today and her vision is getting worse (she has had reduced visibility for most of her life) but the dr will see her again in 3 months and decide if she requires laser surgery to fix a cataract surgery from when she was 4yrs old. A busy week ahead but I will have a visit on Friday from my grandie, Emily as she is on Spring break and then off to Costa Rica with her Dad.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

You make me giggle Lynnie:)

I confess, it was the most freeing thing when I realized I did not have to use everything I bought, that is was perfectly okay to collect scrapping supplies and just browse and admire them.

I have a big collection!

I REALLY hope you can participate. You have done such an amazing job so far. I think tonight is when they announce who is getting through. Fingers crossed for all of us...

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

You all sound so busy and having fun with the Survivor challenges. I can't wait to join in next yr. Today is a quiet day at home (desk work), will do some scrapping later and want to watch a few more episodes of "Roswell New Mexico" on my laptop (I take breaks from my computer work to scrap and watch shows). I have a good setup in my office, my PC, my work PC and my laptop for watching shows, (double monitor for scrapping), all lined up side by side on my desk. My office isn't pretty (it's always messy) but it is so functional and cozy.

The only exercise I'll do today is a bit of weight lifting later. I am trying to jog one day and then do a quick light weight routine the next with the occasional break from both for a day or two so I don't get overwhelmed (I love how I feel when I exercise but I hate having to take the time out of my day to do it).

Later I'm going to bake a banana loaf (I am low carb so make my own desserts rather than buy them).

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am impressed, Rae. The only exercise I get is lifting my fork - but that is weight lifting too, haha! I am a big binge watcher on the television. Husband and I are watching Knightfall and mother and I are watching random English Detective shows. I think we are actually in the middle of Foyle's War, unless she finished them while I am at work :) We have seen them before...

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I like to watch TV series, UK productions are favs. Doc Martin is an ongoing humorous easy to watch delight and I can watch those episodes over and over allowing a bit of time to pass in between...same for Call the Midwives. The funny thing is that at the moment I am watching a short series called Manhunt which stars Martin Clunes and it is so hard to see him as anyone other than Doc Martin. Totally different genres, I liked The Fall, Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax and many more but those are the only ones I can think of right now. US productions, I still love Little House on the Prairie and love The Good Doctor. Manifest has been a bit of a disappointment. There are several Aussie shows I enjoy as well.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am more of a "Crime show" buff. I watch the Chicago series, Fire, Med and PD and also Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck. I also love "This is Us" and I don't think I have watched one show with out blubbering! I love the Amazing race reality shows and Master Chef Canada which will be starting in April.

I can't even LIST the number of shows my mother and I binge watch. I don't usually just watch TV, I am scrapping or something at the same time, but my mother is limited in what she can do, so the TV is always on. We have Watched Call the Midwives, Foyle's War, Vera, Inspector Lewis, Inspector Morse, Endeavour, Frost, Wire in the Blood, Midsomer Murders, George Gently, Murdoch Mysteries, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Republic of Doyle, Pie in the Sky, Hamish McBeth, Murder in Suburbia, Murder Investigation Team, DCI Banks, New Tricks, Grantchester, Garrow's Law, and a bunch of others. We also like Father Brown (A LOT), Gosh, I can't even remember. If it is on there, we have watched it!

Without my Mum, I also enjoy Outlander, Poldark, Victoria, the Crown, Knightfall.

US Shows: Castle, Unforgettable, Covert Affairs, Rizzoli & Isles....

The list could be endless.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Ohhhh Poldark!!!! Outlander!!!! Drooool!!!!! and the shows are pretty good too:D

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Seriously those are two of my very favourite series.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I watch way too many shows to list them here LOL. I love to scrap and watch tv at the same time. Sure, it takes me a bit longer to finish a LO and I don't always see every moment of a show....but it works for me. I enjoy it.

Jill - I've seen the first season of The Fall and liked it. We love the Good Doctor. I agree, Manifest is dragging.

Karen - Love Chicago Fire and Med but fell behind PD so will binge watch that someday. This Is Us makes me cry all the time LOL.

Right now I'm loving Blacklist, Whiskey Cavalier, The Walking Dead, The Resident, Criminal Minds, New Amsterdam, Westworld....to name a few.

What I'm anticipating to come is Game of Thrones final season soon and the final season of Criminal Minds.

Funny story about Outlander. I listened to the audio books with my mother while taking her to work. Davina Porter is the reader and she is a wonderful reader. All was going well until it got -- well -- a bit graphic. There I was, driving, unable to fast forward, with my prim and proper mum listening to them having "fun" in GREAT detail. I could have put my head down on the driving wheel and died right then and there. When they were done, my mother announces in her most proper, but practical and unjudgmental way, "Well, that was completely unnecessary! They should do that in the privacy of blank pages!"

The beauty of watching television and scrapping at the same time is that you can re-watch a show and have it be completely new every time haha.

Game of Thrones is a guilty pleasure of mine. The books were fabulous (but I am still grumpy he did not finish writing them yet!) I actually had to get an APP to keep the characters straight, there are so many of them! I have a few seasons to catch up on, but I am never by myself and I am the only one in the family who enjoys them.

We should have a chit chit chat thread about GoT, for the season. I always want to discuss it, and I’m the only one thatvis obsessed here too. I’m so looking forward but also dreading the end. There is going to be an aftershow at the end apparently to discuss hanging ends without resolution.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

My mom had two eye appointments this week, two hours driving for each. Her eyes are not degenerating more, which is good.

My son had parent teachers and the big complaint is he is brilliant but he doesnt try. He doesn’t hand in stuff.

Then he had a hair cut.

My girl irl has been battling a upper respiratory thing for two weeks now. Took her to walk in, they won’t test for influenza as it’s too expensive and we are one week beyond flu season. Grrrr. There was an X-ray to check for pnemonia and bronchitis. And she was given inhaler. Not helping cough at all.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie, that was just the laugh I needed this morning!

I don't watch Game of Thrones but my son does so he has it on often in the living room, looks like I could get into it but then I would have to binge watch it.

Mom's appointment went well but she may need eye surgery. We have to go back in June and re-do all the tests and then the surgeon will decide. That will be hard on her but hopefully her vision will get better or at least stable.

My mother is really funny and so unexpected sometimes. When my son was not doing well, before he died in 1996 (this is a funny story, I promise) my brother and I purchased some pot for him to help him feel better. This was before it was a common thing and you could buy it in the shops. When my mother asked us what we had got for Chris for Christmas, my brother TOLD her. I couldn't believe he told her!!!! She responded by saying "Oh, how very nice. ... Perhaps I could get him a little pipe or something."

My unexpected little mum!

I have some serious catching up to do before I can discuss it. I will see if I can set aside some binge time to catch up!

My poor kids. Every time they get sick, I tell them "Take a Shower!" It has been a family joke for years. My daughter was thrilled when she got to use it on me for the first time haha.

My son had the same issue. He was ADHD - incredibly brilliant with no common sense and no urgency to follow through with anything. He would whip out homework in two seconds flat with every answer right and then forget to turn it in. It was an endless source of torture for me.

We had similar issues with all the younger kids, but put them through a school boot camp program that taught them techniques for remembering homework, writing things down, planning, etc. It has been a good thing for them in life in general. I would encourage you to find a similar program if you can. It was worth it.

Well, my Survivor layout is in! Talk about a production! I had the backdrop with the castle. I have intended to use it for little photo shoots with my grandchildren. It was pretty creased, so I had to iron it! THEN, the only place we had a mirror that would work for this idea was in our closet area, which is pretty tight and narrow. it is a hallway between our bedroom and bathroom with mirrored closed doors on either side. Trying to put up the backdrop in such a narrow area was not easy, to say the least. My husband was really patient. Then trying to get an angle that didn't have a closet door edge running through my head was hard. We were in hysterics with the angles doing the pictures, and then trying to do the first picture and not moving when I was swinging up the crown! I was explaining to a friend one day that I had quite a collection of crowns. I really could not explain why. There is no reason, I just ended up with crowns from Karen's dance days, my mother's birthday and various productions my husband has been in. I have a crown for every occasion.

Anyway, it took about 30 shots before I got a pair I could use. It was loads of fun to get.

Really an amazing shot. Thumbs up to you capturing it and having help.

Ive never heard of a boot camp like that. It would help. He has adhd inattentive and Aspergers and we nevervknow which is which.

Lynnie: Your photo shoot turned out awesome as is your LO. I had to laugh at your comment "I have a crown for every occasion."...you must REALLY be Royalty!

I actually did 2 LO's for the challenge because I couldn't decide what theme to use, so Bridging Generations won out in the end. Have a splendid Sunday everyone!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Im enjoying my coffee and I’m reading “Watching You” but am going to go do my last page for the monthly challenge soon. I might get out for a few photos of the cherry blossom trees. I have to look at the city map to see where they are. We’ll head up to the hospital this afternoon to visit my GD at the rehab hospital (she suffered encephalitis a yr ago and is still in care). Then we’ll come home for dinner. I am going to make pressure cooker bone broth later and some banana muffins (I make my own as I follow a paleo diet and don’t eat pkg foods). So I think the day will fly by.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am reading "Educated" by Tara Westover. It is a fascinating memoir and I have had a hard time putting it down. She is a lovely young woman raised in an isolated, radical family without any kind of formal education, and talks about the importance of education. I can't put it down. I am part of an awesome book club, we meet once a month and discuss a book we have read. Our goal is to be like the women in the movie, still meeting after 40 years (although I am 64, so they might have to come to me, since I don't plan on driving that long!)

I have an instant pot and make bone broth from time to time. It makes such a great base for soups and stews. I, sadly, follow an eat everything diet, which is probably why you look so fabulous and I am so chubby :)

Well, I need to get ready for church, now, I hope to get some scrapping done today.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I have been missing a lot in this chat room, I had a good laugh catching up and reading all of your posts, Lynnie I love the story about pot and your moms come back..... LOL
I watch several TV shows, some of my favorites are "New Amsterdam" "The Good Doctor" "Chicago MD,Fire," "Whiskey Cavalier" "The Resident" "The Rookie" "This Is Us" "Shark Tank" "The Village" "Station 19" "Proven Innocent" I also like cooking shows, and HGTV home shows.... To name a few... LOL
My knee has been giving me so much pain I haven't been as active in the forum as I would like to be, pain meds make me sleepy but I got to take them when the pain is to much... Will probably be having surgery in the near future, doctor is sending me to a specialist, waiting to get in there... Until then I have to deal with the pain....
Well need to get off of here, you all have a GREAT DAY! and I will be back soon... :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Having an ok day so far. Woke up with a migraine, but I took my wonder drug and am feeling fine, though it makes me feel like my head is floating on the clouds, I'll take that over the pain. Made it to church and I am glad. I needed that today.

Glad to see everyone is doing OK! :D

I take Zomig, aka Zolmitriptan. It also makes me really sensitive to hot water- it's like needles.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

It has been crazy trying to keep up with everything AND survivor. I am glad - and sorry - it is over. I have loved doing it.
