Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Morning All
its almost 9am Saturday here, hubby has taken the 2 older boys to a footy game on the beach. The younger boys & my daughter are at home I plan to clean up what I can & get some baking done. Providing the boys behave that is!
I've got my survivor entry in & also saw I am up for layout of the week this week, which was a nice surprise as I had forgotten about the nomination with all that has been going on.
Went to a ladies lunch on Thursday for International Women's Week & met some other fabulous ladies that contribute their time (mainly volunteers) to our local community & we met the Member of parliament who is the current minister for women who gave a great speech & thanked us all personally for our individual roles in our chosen community group.
I will be back in a few hours to sit down & give some love back on the survivor entries
take care everyone

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

You have a busy day Sam and congrats on the nomination, I will have to go vote, if it's still open. I went to the grand opening of our new library yesterday and had my grandie sleep over last night. She kept us busy with a pizza dinner, playing "Payday" game and then we watched "The Secret Life of Pets" on Netflix, off to bed at 11:30pm. I am still tweaking my layout but should have it up today. Happy Saturday everyone!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am back for a day. I have been working and other commitments. Next week I have a challenge in the competition. I leave early Wednesday morning to take a couple boys to a baseball tournament in St. George. I also work Monday and have a class and work on Tuesday until late. I am going to try and get my layout done before leaving or I will have to get up early or stay up after everyone going to sleep to complete a layout for next week. I am planning on quitting work sometime in April and will have more time to devote to scrapping and cleaning my home.

You have a busy day few days! It makes you wonder how we ever get the time to scrap :) Congratulations on the nomination and good luck!

I am glad your layout is about ready to post! I have been looking for it every day :) I love spending time with the kids, but m grandsons are not close by. One is in England and one is in Arizona. I am seeing the one in England in April, along with the new grandbaby expected by then. I have another grandbaby expected in August. THAT one will be local and will be very very spoiled.

I have very confidence you can get the new layout whipped out in no time. You are such a great and prolific scrapper. You can turn out fabulous in half the time most of us can.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I have a busy week, too.

  • Yesterday I had Weight Watchers, a chiropractor appointment, my mother's retirement lunch, taking husband to doctor to have stitches out and then grocery shopping.
  • Today I have my scrapbooking group all day, then we have tickets to see Martin Barre (the lead guitarist for Jethro Tull).
  • On Sunday, after church we have the sleeping beauty ballet (fathom event) and a dinner for a high school friend who is in town.
  • Monday is a long work day
  • Tuesday we have tickets to see Gordon Lightfoot
  • Wednesday is my mother's surgery and the rest of the week is taking care of her.

I am tired already!

Your weekend sounds very busy & exciting! Congrats on Layout of the Week! I almost forgot about Baker's Best completely this week with the excitement of Survivor, but finally remember last night!

I'm jealous of the pizza dinner, games, and movie time! Fun, fun! My kiddos have been off doing their own thing, so it's been a while since we had a game night. Good luck getting your layout finished up - I can't wait to see!

Busy, busy!! Can't wait to see your layout for the challenge!! Sometimes scrapping is more important than sleep, right?!

Wow, I was going to say I'm tired just reading your list haha! It sounds like a really fun week though with lots of shows to watch!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

It's Saturday morning here. I just got home from dropping my 17-year-old daughter off at work. Now I'm giving myself a half hour to relax on the forums before I get to a good 2-hour cleaning session. Then I need to clean myself up, hit the store for a pair of jeans (I have lost weight and all mine are looking absolutely saggy and awful), and then pick Jennah back up from work. Later we are going to go out to dinner which will be fast food because it's my 15-year-old son's choice this time haha. Hopefully then just some time to hang out and relax. I have a lot coming up next week as far as appointments and kid stuff, so I need a little R&R this weekend.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Saturday early evening and all quiet here after a busy day yesterday with the grandie. I finally finished up and loaded my LO.

Sounds like a busy week for everyone, same here with another busy work week.

Finally finished leaving love for all the LO's, good luck to everyone!

Sounds like a busy day. I am still in my jammies recovering from yesterday. The day was SO busy. Last night, though, was amazing. We went to see Martin Barre and his band at a restaurant called Mozambique. The concert was in a bar that only housed 89 people, so it was pretty intimate. Before the concert began we got there pretty early and ordered appetizers. The food was absolutely fantastic. Martin Barre, in case you did not know, was the lead guitarist for Jethro Tull for pretty much the last 40 years. The man is a legend and he lived up to it. He was kind enough to take a picture with us in the bar before the concert started. For the last 1/2 of the concert we stood right in front of the stage, just feet away from the best lead guitar I have ever seen in my life. The music was amazing. This ranks up there as one of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life. It was pretty late when we got home and I had to copy the pics onto computer right away - THEN we lost an hour because of the time change. I could barely get up this morning. I did not make it to church, which is a rarity. I am still in my jammies and think we are skipping the fathom event also. I really need to get some stuff done.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I love this, I bring my best game to every layout, just sometimes todays best game might not be the same as yesterday's best game
I am so glad to be done with my layout for week 2 though, I changed it so many times.
Can't wait to see what the next challenge is regardless of whether I go through or not. Its always nice to challenge your skills. thas why I love the monthly challenges here too take you out of your comfort zone if you let it.

I think one of the good things about Scrapping Survivor is that everyone brings their best game to the table and you are forced to scrap outside the box - it is such an exciting thing. The competition is so good and so inspirational. I thought I had lost my scrapping mojo, but I am so anxious to scrap now I can barely work. And I wish it was not so long between rounds haha!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I am a night owl, can't sleep most nights so scrap until I am sleepy & I was sick for the last 2 weeks so scrapped in amongst sleeping. I squeeze scrapping & crochet in where I can otherwise I would go crazy I think

You have a busy day few days! It makes you wonder how we ever get the time to scrap :) Congratulations on the nomination and good luck!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I do my best for every layout, but I don't think I try to be as creative, or take as long over a layout as I do for competitive layouts. I doubt that I would have spent forever finding white flowers for Karen's hair for an every day layout - although on the right day I might. What a competition does, though, is remind me how creative we can get for our layouts and maybe step up my game once in a while to create something extraordinary. If I did that for every layout, I would have serious issues with regard to getting my albums done!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

My mother is having surgery on 13th of this month. We have been scrambling getting the pre-op stuff done. She is 90 years old and I can't help but worry. I am spending all the time I possibly can with her, so am not in the forums as much.

Sending prayers my dear. God bless on her surgery and recovery.

Hope you are feeling any better. Also I'm a night owl and a crocheter, my handbag -very big- is always full of yarns, crochet stitch markers and all kind of tools, and sometimes a magazine. Shawls are my favs.

I am a night owl with morning hours. I like my sleep, but I don't get enough. I love being up at night when everyone else is asleep - I like being by myself and being creative.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I have chronic insomnia, I don’t sleep for days, then will crash.

My doctor had told me to find a hobby that would tax my brain as a form of occupational therapy after my cardiac arrests. I could no longer scrap traditionally I shook to much, so I switched to the project life pocket scrapping app, then slowly branched out to more digital. I solely use my iPad. It’s works well for therapy.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I can't even imagine scrapping solely on an ipad. But there again, Emscraps does all her layouts in Microsoft Word. Who even knew that could be done! I am so impressed with your layouts, Sherri, even more so now!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie, I am thinking of you and your Mum regarding her operation. Big hugs.

Yes, Lynnie, how did it go today?

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hi Folks,

Thank you for all your good wishes. It was a tough few days. My mother was really ill the day before and all night before she went in. It was expected due to the nature of her illness. It involved a lot of clean up for me, though, without going into too much gory detail! It was a huge amount of very difficult work.

The night before and next morning she had to shower with a special anti-bacterial soap. She was very upset that it meant she could not have pretty hair for the hospital haha! So, after her morning shower, I blow dried her hair and used a curling iron so she looked lovely :) She really did look pretty. We got her to the hospital and into pre-op pretty quickly. She was a champ, kidding with all the nurses and making them all fall in love with her.

The surgery went on forever, it seemed. She went into OR at noon and by 4 she was still there. She came out about five, I think and went into recovery. Her doctor came in and talked to me and my brother. She said that the surgery went well and they were able to remove all the cancer and it had not invaded any surrounding cells. She was in a room by 6:30 and we got to see her. She was quite loopy from the anesthesia, but she seemed to be doing quite well. She is so funny. She would doze off, then jerk awake and say things like "Is my hair still pretty?" We were laughing up a storm. She was so sweet and so lovely.

Today I have been home working and cleaning. They think she will come home today with home nursing. The doc said the surgery site is healing fast and looks as though it was from a few days ago. It is amazing. We are so pleased. I am feeling a little fragile and ragged, but so incredibly relieved at the outcome.

But at 90, my little mother continues to amaze me.

Here she is (I did not link them so you don't need to feel obliged to comment haha)

Oh such wonderful news Lynnie, glad everything went well. Had a few chuckles at her "pretty hair" comments, she sure sounds like a spunky lady. Your LO's of your mother are wonderful, truly a treasure! Take care!

Feeling much better now but swamped with work. I too am a crocheter. I have a bag that I take with me to the kids sports when I'm not helping. It will be jammed full of yarn & tools for the latest project I am on at the time

Hope you are feeling any better. Also I'm a night owl and a crocheter, my handbag -very big- is always full of yarns, crochet stitch markers and all kind of tools, and sometimes a magazine. Shawls are my favs..

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

I think I have some form of insomnia, not chronic just enough to not have enough sleep
I tend to scrap, crochet or knit to try & help my mind relax before bed, it helps a little
I wish I could scrap on my tablet but all my supplies are in my desktop

I keep mine in dropbox. It works for me.

Thanks, Lynn. I totally banged my head tonight and gave myself a headache, neckache and whiplash. I needed a bag to grab my laundry off the line and went to grab one from my balcony and forgot the door was closed. I bend down to pick up the bag and my forehead met the glass with a bang. I am feeling terrible. Other than that have been taking care of myself :)

Got my layout done for Survivor, even after banging my head :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Hey ladies! I'm sorry I've been pretty MIA this week. I had a really rough go of it. Not for any particular reason, but I just didn't feel myself. I was having a really hard time sleeping, and it was very hard for me to focus on anything. Thank the Lord it was spring break so I didn't have homeschooling to do on top of everything else.

Lynnie, I'm so happy to hear your mother is doing well after surgery! I love all the pages you've scrapped of her. <3

I just finished my layout for survivor for the week which had me really stressed. So glad it's done!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2019} Let's get to know each other!

Lynnie! OMG! Be careful! I'm so glad you got your layout done. How is your mom doing?
