Not tornadoes here, but hard winds and the power cut several times during the night and morning, now it's getting mild, so glad that our winter is almost over.
I hope you are doing well dear ladies, wishing you all a very beautiful weekend!

Sending positive vibes to anyone dealing with "weather". Man, if's been crazy lately. TBH, it's completely "normal" here in MN. 70F one day last week, snow a couple day later and snow/slush/rain/thunderstorms/sunshine for several days on and off since. Completely normal. No tornados here yet, but I'd better bite my tongue. The earliest tornado we had here was March 6, 2017, so it can happen. 😳

What are your plans for the weekend? The sun is beautiful today here. Since most of the snow has melted, I did a little cleaning in the garden, especially around the rose bushes. I still can't prune them, so I'll wait a bit longer. I had a birthday party but it was cancelled and postponed until the following weekend, which I must confess is better for me, so I have the afternoon free and I'll be doing something on the computer, basically scrapping. I'm not cooking today; it's refrigerator-cleaning day ;). I wonder if anyone else does the same, and Saturday is officially leftovers or fast food day. I have some salads and veggies (in the fridge), so I will order a pizza to complete the menu.
You all have a wonderful weekend dear ladies!

Gosh it feels like I posted in here yesterday but it was well before TC Alfred hit us & I feel like life has been on fast forward since then!
Yesterday & today have been the first real sunny days since the cyclone - its just been loads of rain & much flooding out west & further north.

We haven't seen the little curlew birds since the cyclone either but we can hear them chirping away in the bushland behind our place so thats a positive.

My eldest son was in Bali for 2 weeks which he loved but has come home with a cold & a massive bruise on his foot. He was supposed to play his first footy game of the season yesterday but couldn't run properly on the bruise so he was running water on the sidelines for the teams. My daughter was in Japan at the same time my son was in Bali & the group she was with got a 24 hour gastro bug & they all got over it quick. She loved it there, went to a dog cafe & the snow & some zoos. Her journey home, she was flying back home via China with a stopover in Melbourne to watch the F1 cars race. Got a call from her shortly after she checked into her accommodation in Melbourne saying she was in pain & couldn't walk & was trying to get to the hospital 10 minutes walk from where she was staying. Told her I would call her Grandad to come get her, thankfully they grabbed her in the middle of the night & stayed with her in hospital till morning only to be told she had a severe case of the gastro but a different strain to the one she had in Japan & had to have heap of IV fluids & medication. Just glad we had someone who could grab her & she wasn't still out of the country.

My middle child has been growing a watermelon, he picked it last week, weighed in at 7.5kg & tasted delicious. It was the only one to survive the cyclone as there was about 5-6 baby melons before the storm & load of flowers for more but the wind & rain just depleted what had grown so we were lucky.

My 2nd youngest has been helping me volunteer at his primary school with robotics. This term we have been making lego sumo bots & he helps the kids with code as thats his super power. I have helped build as that mine & I am just working on a lego elephant that walks. I will get child to code it so the kids can use it as a learning tool in the classroom, just waiting on a few parts to arrive from bricklink so I can finish it as they seemed to be missing from the boxes at school.

Youngest & I have been going through our lego boxes & creating the old builds as he was just a baby when all the bits got tossed in a box. I bought some clear storage drawers so as he rebuilds a set he has a place to put the finished projects & put them on display. He's quite proud, I'm glad I kept most of the instructions but any we haven't had I have downloaded from the lego site. There have been a few missing parts here & there but I have been able to get them online quite cheap so he can keep building.

Um what else ... I volunteer at the local school 2 mornings a week, work has been slow since the cyclone but thankfully we only had one sign get damaged, can't fix it yet as the area is still knee high in water. Did a bit more on my family tree, & CT work in between life ha ha

Better go organise some lunch, forgot to have breakfast. Take care all

My goodness, Sam, you have been busy! Wow to all the things that you've been doing and have had to deal with! (((HUGS)))

Grace, I have been watching church meetings all weekend, though we did go out and shop Friday and Saturday nights. Today my husband and I have dress rehearsal for the oratorio we're performing in on Saturday and next Sunday nights. I expect it to be somewhat crazy tonight and less crazy Friday night at our 2nd dress rehearsal. In between, I have physical therapy and a doctor appointment.

Woo hoo! Everyone have a great week! PS- Anyone notice I forgot to put shadows in my siggy? ROFL!

I am still running around with my friend, Karen, from Scotland. I think I mentioned we have been friends for 65 years. We went to Tombstone for four days, the Long beach Aquarium, a boat tour and we babysat my grandchildren for four days. It has been a crazy 10 days since she has been here. We haven't had a minute. Tomorrow we are going to the Huntington Library and Gardens, Tuesday, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach. We are also planning on going to the San Juan Capistrano Mission, Whale Watching, Venice Beach, Hollywood, three days in Ventura, and I forget where else. Every day is accounted for!!

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope Mother Nature brings us all calm weather this week.

I spent several days last week / weekend volunteering at a couple of youth programs. On Wednesday, I was at a high school event where student teams from around the state built their own solar panels for their model houses as part of a solar competition. On Saturday, I helped with a similar program called KidWind where students from grades 5th-12th build their own wind turbines. That program had 35 teams this year (the biggest group yet). It's so fun to watch the kids problem solve and learn from each other. I saw the cutest 5th grade team (three little 11-year-olds) having full blown engineering conversations with one of the high school teams. So sweet! One team decorated the top of their wind turbine with a giant hamburger! Others had fun decorating the blades. Such a fun program.

that sounds so sweet
You too, have a very happy Monday dear lady!

I spent the day at Huntington Library and Gardens today. Each time I go, I spend some time loving on the old books they have there. They have a volume of the work of Chaucer from the 1300s that is hand-written (of course) and illuminated with the most exquisite illustrations. It is so much more beautiful in person where you can see the glimmer of gold and the beautiful colours. They also have a book of hours from the 1400s there with the same brilliant colours and gold. It takes my breath away.

Happy Tuesday, all! It was 29 degrees F when I left the house this morning, but we are expecting to be in the 70s later today. It's that time of year when you need your winter clothes and your spring clothes all in the same day! LOL!
Same here, last night snowed, early in the morning so freezing, and at the noon I felt like in the sauna  so good that I always have with me an extra blouse or a shirt, otherwise I would be in trouble, because early in the morning I took a very warm (wool mix turtle neck shirt), and when temperatures arose, it was a real torture, good luck the extra shirt it was made of cotton and although is a long neck & sleeves, it was easy to use.
Wishing you all a very beautiful day dear ladies!

and it's the time of year it is easy to lose coats, also. You wear it in the morning, take it off and when you leave you don't grab it, and 3 days later looking for it, trying to remember where you left it.

Happy Thursday! How's everyone doing? I know I'm looking forward to the weekend!

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow that I'm worried about. It's just a routine annual, but it's a new doctor at a new clinic, and I'm worried I won't be heard, ya know? Plus I have a paper due Sunday, and oratorio practice tomorrow night. Performances are Saturday and Sunday nights. Pretty crazy weekend for me!

Well here the weather has been pretty crazy, yesterday sunny and little bit warm than usual, and during the night snowed, and early in the morning we were at 15 F, and at this moment at 35 F, let's see what is waiting for us tomorrow  ,because everything is again covered by the snow, I didn't try to clean the garden, but a friend and I will go to a garden exposition tomorrow, not planning to buy new plants, but if I'd find something interesting, for sure I'll be back home with a new fellow ;) wishing you all a very beautiful weekend dear ladies ❤️

It has been so nice to have a few days off from classes. I just finished with Lifespan Development and am getting ready to go into philosophy for the next month. But hey, I have gotten to create a couple pages this week and that makes me happy, it had been too long.

Also starting to stress out a little bit because it is just over a month and both of my kids are going to be graduating. Kathryn will be the first female college graduate of the family. Sad that her success was my inspiration to go back and do it myself, but at least I have finally started doing what I intended all along. Paul will be graduating high school. And both of their graduations are on the same day, I am just hoping it is not at the same time because I cannot physically be two places at once.

Congrats on your children's graduations! Dorann dear, it's not sad that you returned your studies inspired by your daughter, on the contrary, I see that it's admirable that you've came back to your studies and now you are doing what you always wanted to do. Good for you!

Hi everyone, sorry I have been MIA and I have just spent an hour catching up. Life has been busy and chaotic with hubby's condition. He has now gone to a care facility as I just couldn't safely care for him at home any longer. He is physically weak and requires assistance to move. Since at the care facility, he has not walked and continues to sleep a lot, cancer will do that to you. He sometimes recognizes us and mumbles a few words but often he just doesn't have the energy to acknowledge us (just opens his eyes and closes them).

My boys are taking very good care of me and I have a large circle of amazing friends. I haven't been scrapping much lately as I either don't have the energy or creativity but I know that will come back. I did do a couple pages for my CT duties with Magical Scraps Galore. I am loving the new look and feel of the site however am still struggling with posting so hopefully I will have more time to get proficient again.

In spite of everything in my world, I am excited to start cycling for the season. My ladies cycling group have been amazing with all the support and I hope to be going out for my first excursion next week, weather permitting.

Wishing everyone a happy day and I hope to share some work soon.

Oh Karen, my love... I am so very sorry. I'm sure that's better for you. It's so hard to make that decision when you know you can't physically care for someone you love so much. You can rest easy knowing that Doug is being cared for by professionals and you can see him whenever you want. I'm glad your boys and friends are there for you. Sending much love and prayers for whatever comes next.
Cycling sounds wonderful.

I'm retreating this weekend! Having fun with paper, glue and glitter with a bunch of GFs. You know calories DO NOT count on retreats so we're all good. (and eating like i*iots.... hehehe) Not staying up terribly late, but late enough and sleeping really well. Having a BLAST!

Heading home later today and back to work tomorrow.
Have a lovely Palm Sunday and beautiful Holy Week for those who celebrate.
Love and Blessings.
Carla

Hullo ladies, been rather spotty with the online-existence. I'm so burned out by the end of the work day I am struggling to do the "fun" things that require me to be in front of a keyboard. I'm also a little teary, as my "big" project right now is a memory book of the yorkie I lost in November. I miss doing stuff from travelling, but I'm not travelling since my partner can't come with me, and it's not as much fun alone, and I'm finding when I DO go places, I don't end up taking pictures any more. Whole big tumble of emotions. The flat I rent may or may not have been sold, and I have no communication from the guy who signed the contract with me, so I'm a little confused and annoyed by all that.
