Karen has been my friend for at least 65 years. We met on our first day of school when we were little. There was a gap and she found me through Facebook and it was as though no time had passed. We were in each other's constant company for three weeks and I could have kept her for another three.
I made her an 80-page 8x8 album of the trip. I didn't think we would get it done, but I did. I will probably go through and make them a little fancier and upload some of the pages. I also kept a detailed journal. She was over the moon. I chatted with her a little while ago. While she was gone, her next-door neighbours (and landlords) replaced her doors and windows with lovely new ones. They also added a key chain to her keys that said "Karen's Forever Home." They are so pleased to have her back.
I stopped her at the airport on Thursday, then stopped at my grandson, Mark's, on the way back. I took him and his girlfriend out to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. They moved to Ohio on Friday (yesterday). It was a nightmare getting them on the plane, but they are there now. Daughter Karen is moving their trailer to a lot to get it repaired and I will turn it over to her.
I came back babysitting yesterday so daughter, Karen, could take them to the airport. I think I should have done it, she was a little overwhelmed. They had two yappy little dogs, massive suitcases, and clueless packing. Parking was difficult and then they couldn't find the check-in desk. I thought Karen was going to have a breakdown. When they finally found the solitary check-in desk at this massive airport, the guy told Karen to download their app so she could check the kids in. Karen started crying. He said he could check them in for $5 each. She also had to pay overweight fees. At this point, she was throwing money at him just so she could get it over with. Poor thing.
I am babysitting tonight all night. It is son Steven and Vanessa's anniversary and they have a date in Los Angeles. They won't be back until late. We are all going to see Ramona in Hemet tomorrow. This is an outdoor play that celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. It has a cast of over 300 people and the play is set in real props (trails in the hills, an actual house, etc.) Over the years it has starred such people as Raquel Welch and Anne Archer.
Monday I am babysitting and I have book club and Tuesday is an all-day date with a friend who missed me while my friend from England was visiting.
I think I need a day off. It is not going to happen in the foreseeable future.
