Lynnie, I saw some of the forecast your way, hope it is not too bad, thinking of you!

Today was lovely weather with a high of 0 Celsius, in February in Manitoba...really this never happens. It was so lovely for our winter walk today, we visited a park that I have never been to so it was really fun for me. We had to wear cleats on our boots though, so icy due to the mild weather. We saw at least a dozen dear just grazing amounts the trees. The weather is supposed to be mild for the rest of the week so I definitely do another excursion this week.

Getting closer to the finish line with house reno's...can't wait to wake up in the morning with nothing to do!

Hope everyone is well.

Greetings, all. My conference wrapped up at 11 p.m. last night! YAY! I'm done!!!

All of the attendees were very happy with the new venue (new facility with better food). The only downside was parking. There was a parking garage, but it was super tight and most of my members drive large trucks.

I didn't have a chance to do any scrapbooking, but I did get all my steps in. According to my pedometer, I walked an average of three miles around the event every day and I've dropped two pounds. LOL!

I'm the only one at my office today. Today, the roads were so covered in fog that the smart features on my car couldn't operate. I kept getting messages that the front camera was dirty and needed to be cleaned, but it was just fog.

Hoping to take some days off at the end of the week and catch up on scrapbooking and maybe a couple of naps. LOL!

Oh My Goodness! I just noticed that for a challenge in December and a challenge this month, I wrote poems that are almost identical in theme :)

Happy Friday eve! LOL! Can you tell I'm ready for a weekend?

Yesterday, I had to leave my CPR / First Aid refresher course as sweet hubby got a call to see a specialist. He's been on a wait list for six month, and they had a cancellation. So we grabbed it. When we visited with the doctor, a nueropsychologist, she said that their wait list has more than 1,000 people on it!!! So after our brief meeting with her, Randy was taken in for testing (he feels his memory has been compromised by the car crash a couple of years ago). During the testing, I was asked to wait in the lobby. His testing took more than three hours. Oy vey. He was exhausted by the time we left. But we're hoping that they'll be able to glean something from his tests.

My daughter-in-law messaged yesterday to say she has COVID, so no babysitting for the rest of the week. Hopefully, this doesn't go around the house because that would mean no babysitting until it has done the rounds.

I plan on catching up on my scrapping, send out some overdue emails and balance my bank account. If I get that far, then I will also work on my craft room, which is a little worse for wear at the moment.

Thanks for wearing red.
thanks for taking cpr courses.
thanks for all of you.

my life or should I say living is a struggle, but I’m glad to be hear to do it.

‘’some things from the May arrythmias and ICD shocks, and subsequent hospitalization and surgeries.
my anxiety, paranoia and worry are off the charts and panic, it’s a brain injury thing.
the constant arrythmias, even the ones that didn’t need shocks, over such a long time period shook up my brain injury. It’s now worse than it was. My writing, spelling, typing, printing, comprehension is all way worse. Reading is harder. Comprehension is harder. Tracking lines is harder. I love that kindle can give me definitions of words.
my new ICD is still hurting in its placement, which typically doesn’t happen, but hey I’m me. It keeps my heart beating at 60 bpm, 98% of the time. I desperately needed it. The bradycardia was bad. It will shock me if arrythmias hit me again. The idea is terrifying yet reassuring.
my kidneys which were already bad, took a hit with the heart issue. I don’t drain the fluid like I should. My face shape is totally different than April. My devices don’t even recognize it to unlock. Lol. Will they improve is unknown. Just hope they don’t get worse.
i have an appointment coming up with the area of the hospital that helps with various rehabs. It’s been so long already but at least it’s happening. Curious to see what’s said.

‘’within that May period when I was supposed to be on a “low stress diet” two of my good friends had crisis of their own. My good friend Lisa who has ARVC, had her heart decline so quickly she needed a heart transplant which she got in July. Then she had serious complications. Now she is doing much better. My friend Bonnie, (Carla I think you met her at Mayo), also a cardiac arrest survivor from a heart attack, and living with only a partial heart needed an emergency ICD placement, then also needed a cartoroid artery graft in her neck. She is older and is recovering slowly. It was a hard summer with the three of us all having death at the supper table. Totally trashed the stress free diet.

we got snow, but it’s been nice. And yes Balzac Billy is between me and Calgary about 1.5 hours away. Our area of Alberta is in a severe predicted drought if things don’t happen. Not a good place to be,

Happy Fri-yay- EVE!
Yesterday- hubby and I tried a first: Korean Hot Pot and BBQ. Although the people were very nice. The restaurant very clean and the food tasted ok, we are not fans of this style of eating. I took photos so probably a page in the near future.
I had planned a page to post tomorrow of Sarah's mood blanket. However the designer messaged me- it's a delay until next Friday.

Pulmonary appointment this morning. He was pleased. However still too much leaking. I try. But I do not have to return for a year.
Other than that- knitting and crocheting. My cousin has requested some embroidered towels. We are working of the designs she wants.

Lynnie- Both pages are just so beautiful!!!

Sherrie- how I think of all you are going thru. Hang in there and my prayers. I have a dear friend here with some of the similar issues. I do know CPR [although about due for a refresher coarse]. Years ago I was an instructor trainer with it when I was teaching school.

m

Karen, is 0 C a record high for you up there? We're having some pretty high temps here, about 62 F. Not normal.

Shana, you must be so relieved for the conference to be over and to get that appointment. Wow, I can't imagine 3 hours of scans! I would be exhausted too!

Lynnie, I love your pages, and it must be a relief to not have to babysit. Here's hoping the Covid passes you by!

Sherri, I'm always glad when you can get online and update us. Thanks for the update! Prayers still coming your way.

Michi, I think hot pot is an acquired taste for us here in the States. I'm glad your appointment went well-ish.

A couple of weeks ago, we found out my oldest son got a job in Dayton, Ohio. He & his family are moving next week and will be stopping here for a week or so. So we're babyproofing again, as well as our usual decluttering. It's crazy, when all I feel like doing is sitting here and scrapping. :) I never know what I should be doing from one minute to the next, ha ha! But hey, at least the grandkids will be only 6-ish hours away instead of 24. It will be so nice!

Shana, I have had to wait for folks for that long for various issues. I have a friend who has her appointments an hour away, and from time to time, there are appointments where she can't drive after. So it is an hour's drive there, a three or four-hour wait, and an hour's drive back. I don't enjoy those days. I usually take something and read or watch a movie.

Sherri, Your life sounds pretty rough. You look lovely in your pictures, though. You can retake the picture on your device so it recognizes your current face, then just update it when needed. Your scrapping capabilities are as wonderful as ever. You make such beautiful pages. I hope that is a comfort and distraction for you.

Michi, I have not tried a Korean hotpot. We have Lancashire Hotpot, but I think that is totally different. We will look forward to seeing those pages.

Ane, What a nice surprise! A visit from your family. I am so glad they are so much closer. You must be thrilled.

My daughter-in-law, Nessa, is feeling quite unwell with COVID. If Steven gets it, then it will be more than a week without babysitting. I am quite at odds, having planned my week around them.

Yesterday, we were notified that there had been a fraudulent application for credit in my name. Now I have to sort out ID theft protection. What a faff!

covid is remaining pretty quiet here in Hawaii and in the health system I work at.

Jill, I am the purveyor of our family. In my town (Kailua) we are blessed w a lot of grocery stores within a small radius. I check out the ads and know which store has the best deals on which. It's pretty remarkable how much they actually can differ. My husband had a long period of not a lot of work and so got into the habit of going with me for a few weeks. This turned out to be great preparation for the 2wks I was gone visiting my sister last fall. I did have to leave him a list of reminders of which store had the best typical prices on items we buy regularly. I only work part time, so usually hit the shops on the days I don't work.

Still very windy here, but sunny. Not beach weather in my mind, but if you came from a frozen clime, you'd probably go swimming. Lunar New Year is this weekend. Wishing all of you health, wealth and happiness this year.

Lynnie, I've had my credit frozen for about 2 yrs now bc of the same. That just means no new cards can be issued in my name. Cybersecurity is such a huge issue and no matter what we do, there's always someone smart somewhere who can crack it.

Sherri, your health issues are so huge, I am in awe that you can still produce such high quality LOs. You are amazing!

ID theft/cyber fraud makes me so angry!! Bogus emails, texts, phone calls often look and sound so genuine that it is easy to get caught. And then there is the ID theft like what has happened to you Lynnie. Last week, I had a call from what looked like a genuine phone number (I never usually answer unknown numbers but was expecting a call from a service provider for some extra home care I need while my shoulder heals). This person said they had noticed a $500 purchase on my credit card statement from Ebay. Panic!! I hung up the phone and went straight to my bank website to view my statement where there was an actual amount of $500 showing. I straight away rang the bank but while I was waiting for someone to answer, I looked more closely at the entry and realised the $500 was an actual payment that I had made to my credit card. When the bank assistant came on the phone, she said they were getting notification about this scam by heaps of customers. I guess if I had continued with the phone call from the scammer they would have been asking for my bank details. We can become so comfortable and complacent with internet activity.

The service provider assessor came today and I have been able to access fortnightly help for basic house cleaning chores. So pleased that I can extend the temporary emergency help Ive been getting since I fell and damaged my shoulder.

So... the fraudulent credit card application gets more and more interesting. Fortunately, I am hyper-vigilant concerning scams, so I managed to get through this just fine.

I received a call from a Bank informing me that a credit card application had been made in my name. They provided details and asked me to confirm. I confirmed a few (like name and address, readily available anywhere) and then said I would call back. He said I had provided enough information, gave me a confirmation number that the credit card application had been denied, and gave me a case number for a government fraud bureau. I looked up the number, and it was legitimate. I called them, and they said they had been getting an increasing number of calls from people with similar experiences, but they were not the group we should be calling.

So I went on Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union and froze credit requests. Folks won't be able to apply for credit cards or loans. I also went and changed a million passwords. They are almost all unique, so it is quite an effort. I checked dark web reports for references to my email address and cleared that up. It took the better part of a day.

Just a reminder - never give out any information on the phone, always offer to call back and then google the number, change passwords regularly, and check the dark web for distribution of your email and/or other information. The latter should probably be through a service. I don't even know how to get to the dark web, and I don't want to know.

After I was done, I treated myself to hours of scrapping.

Happy Super Sunday to all. I'm looking forward to the big game, although I do not really care who wins. I enjoy sports [almost all].
We've had a busy weekend of: Friday night flag football; Saturday- dance showcase, Savannah Bananas; and then keroke at the American Legion with golf friends. Church this morning. Scrapping and posting some. Then a call to my cousin to figure out some embroidery she wants.
Whew- That said, here is a link to the temperature blanket I scrapped for January.

https://gallery.gingerscraps.net/sh...21&title=temperature-blanket-for-2024&cat=500

thank you Lynnie for all the information you've shared on this very unfortunate circumstance.

Happy Monday everyone.
Our temperature reached to 81 - 82 yesterday. So that days yarn went to yellow. The most so far have been in teal. It's been fun. Warm today and chillier tomorrow.

Lynnie: Thank you for sharing your layouts. And I hope the family recovers soon. And yes, sometimes waiting for appointments and then having to drive to them takes up so much of our day. We live in an area that has a lot of doctors relatively close. There have been times that hubby had one appointment that was an hour east of us, and another appointment that was an hour west of us… so that does make for a long day. At least he has me do all of the scheduling so I can determine if we have enough time to get from point A to point B. And urk… good luck with the ID theft protection. And I’ve learned a new word… faff! Good for you for being so vigilant and knowing how to protect your accounts!

Sherrie: It’s always so good to see your posts, and I’m glad to see some of your lovely layouts. I’m so sorry that you continue with health struggles, but I’m glad you have others who fully understand what you’re going through. My hubby was hit head on by a driver on meth a couple of years ago, and we have seen that his brain doesn’t function as well as it did before the accident. We’re trying to find new ways to compensate, including setting more calendar reminders on his phone, taking photos of things he needs to get, etc.

Michi: I took two of the teenage nephews and one of their friends for Korean BBQ this summer, and they LOVED it. There was sooooo much food, but they managed to inhale most of it! LOL! I don’t think I would go back if it was just me, but I’m sure they will ask to go back. Thanks for sharing the gallery link to the temperature blanket. It amazes me how talented this group is!
Ane: congrats to your son on his new job. And yes, I’m THRILLED to have my conference over. We will do the full-staff “after action review” tomorrow. But now I’m shifting to working on other events and trainings.

Glee: Did you do anything to celebrate the Lunar New Year? We met with friends for lunch, but there weren’t any big celebrations in our part of the world. I did see the coolest video of a drone dragon flying around the skies in Singapore! Amazing!

Jill: That was very smart of you to just hang up on the scammer. One of my friends who is now retired LIVES for those types of calls. It’s his mission to keep those scammers on the call for as long as possible so they don’t have time to scam others. Ha. Not really my idea of a good time, but he had been an investigative reporter for 40 years, so he has fun playing with them. Hope your shoulder heals quickly.

Ginger: Ooh... thanks for the notice of the hop!

Randy and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this weekend. We had a date day in Kansas City where I got him fitted for a new sports coat. He had six sport coats that were all at least 20 years old and all way too big for him now that he’s lost so much weight. So we ended up a cool store where the walls are filled with displays of large fabric swatches. Randy picked out his favorite color, tried on some sport coat “templates,” and then a tailor fitted the template to his body and took down all his measurements. Then Randy could select the lining fabric, the buttons, and other style details. He had a ball and his new coat (burgundy with a fun flamingo lining) should be delivered in about a month). Yesterday, I packed up all our crystal goblets and wine glasses that we haven’t used in 10+ years and put them into storage. This made room for our growing collection of metal insulated cups and mugs (like Yeti). Good grief there were so many. Both of us work in industries that we receive these types of mugs as gifts or for attending meetings, etc. So they all have logos on them in either his industry or mine. But we did agree that we are at a point that any time we bring home some new drink ware, we understand that something existing will have to go. LOL.

Last night, we (of course) watched the Super Bowl. However, I watched it more for the commercials. LOL. I went to bed before the game was over, but was glad to hear that the Kansas City Chiefs won. We won’t go to the big parade (too many people, too crowded), but I’m sure all of my coworkers will be wearing their Chiefs jerseys today.

Hope you all have a great week!

We get a lot of scams calls too, even daily...credit card, cable company, bank...if they can think it, they do it! A few days ago I had one "Grandparent" phone scam. When I answered the male greeted me with "Hi GRANDMA" and was proceeding to tell me a sob story and needed money wired to him to get out of trouble...but I called him out on it then hung up on him. It is disheartening that some seniors are actually getting robbed of their life savings because of these scams!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Glee: The Year of the Dragon - I always think this is the most Chinese of all the New Year's! A Dragon!! They are predicting a bunch of babies because it is supposed to be a good year to have children.

Jill: Remember Designer Teresa (Woodsy) from DSP? She lives for scammers and also keeps them in conversation for a long time. From time to time, she details the conversations, and it has me in hysterics. Every once in a while I lead them on for a while, but not too often.

Ginger: I did sign up for some new newsletters and have already downloaded a bunch of stuff.

Shana, Congratulations on your anniversary. I can't wait to see the new sports coat and lining included in some of your pages. Be sure to post a link to one here. I used to have crystal and wine glasses that weren't used, and then we decided we deserved them every day, so we actually use them. Why have pretty stuff if you can't enjoy it, right? I was downsizing not that long ago and decided that I needed to get rid of all the insulated mugs and cups and regular mugs that we don't actually use that often. Now I actually have room in my cupboards.

We watched the Superbowl also. It was Scarlett's first one, but she didn't seem overly impressed. I had a little too much wine but survived. Nessa stayed home with Bruce and Steven brought Scarlett. She tested negative late on Sunday, so I spent Monday at their house babysitting and having fun. She ended up not going to work but took a bunch of calls from home, so it was good I was there.

Today I have a massage, Bible Study and some paperwork to take care of. I have a journal I make and bind for my friend, Pam and for me. We keep track of things like our weight, sleep, steps, food and journaling. We do 100 days at a time, and we run out in a few days. I am seeing her tomorrow, so I am making the journal today. I am looking forward to my massage :)

Happy Valentines Day! In our part of the world, EVERYONE is wearing red... as in the Kansas City Chiefs! They have a huge parade today. No, I am not going. That's way too many people for my liking. People have been flocking to the parade route since before dawn. The parade doesn't start for two more hours, and the images of that area show that it's already packed full.

Have to say, I'm so GLAD that you didn't go to the parade Shana! How sad that there are evil people in the world that want to disrupt a celebration like this. I'm so sorry.

WOW! Amazing turnout to celebrate their victory! So very sorry to hear of the shootings.

I think everyone is saying it Shana - We are glad you are safe and were not there for the shootings. Our hearts and prayers also extend to your community, suffering from the aftermath of the shooting.

Shana- What a gorgeous picture of the folks wanting to celebrate with the Chiefs. I don't do a lot of people either.
How sad for the event that followed. My prayers.
m

Thank you all for your kind words. We are all saddened by the events, as well. We had several friends at the event, but everyone we personally know was safe, if not very shaken. Our daughter came over today and we had a long talk about it, too. The thing is... what do you even do in a situation like that. Our daughter said that she was told if you hear gun shots to get flat on the ground... but that doesn't help if the shooter is above you. And with that many people, there really was no place to go very quickly. Very, very sad. I'm proud of the other fans who tackled and held the shooters, and for the quick response of the police.
