Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Yes, but it is very boring. Is this what empty-nester syndrome is like? Sometimes I feel like I've lost my purpose in life, or maybe I just need therapy. Reading and scrapping give me a little pleasure but I can't do those all day every day. I'd go nuts like I am now.

You need people! You need to scrap with people, or join a book club or something like that. I am definitely an empty nester, but I have loads of external stimuli, so I am loving it.

Of course, I would love a little peace and quiet now and then, which my lifestyle does not really account for!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

I will! We are going on a roadtrip together as well, so I will get lots of pics then!

I know you told us a while back, but I forgot - where are you going?

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Hello! My parents are in town for the weekend - we went to a local baseball game last night and stayed to watch the fireworks afterwards. Not sure what we are doing today, but it's nice to see them.

I'm working on finishing up another class for school - hoping to get done this next week.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

My son is in town and went to an Angels' game last night :) He said they lost, but it was still fun. He is visiting from England so that is a must every time he comes. Hope you are having fun with them.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Yesterday I had an early celebration for my 60th Birthday as my daughter and her family fly off to Canada on Tuesday ( my son-in-law comes from Calgary) and they will be away for three months. Thankfully we have Skype so I will get to see via the computer my four precious grandchildren while they are away. My older sister and her husband also joined us for the Birthday lunch at an Italian restaurant at Lennox Head ( a small beachside town not too far from where we live and close to where my daughter lives). The meal was delicious and time with family was special.

Now today I need to make some Birthday cards for friends celebrating their Birthdays this week.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Anne Marie!
So nice to hear from you again. It was so much fun getting to know you a bit better during survivor. I am glad you had a fabulous birthday. So nice to have family and friends to celebrate with. I would love to see the cards you are making this week. That is something I used to do but stopped when I stopped paper scrapbooking.

Good luck with skype. I am sure you will miss those grands so much. I have 3 in AZ which is 16 hours from us. I don't get down there often enough. They are growing way too fast! Good thing I have one close by. I treasure those Tuesdays we get to play together while mom and dad are at work. Nana days are the best.

Anne-Marie, congratulations on your upcoming birthday. I'll bet you will miss your daughter and family. Three months is a long time. Canada is a long way from Australia, but the computer, and being able to see and talk to them makes such a huge difference. My son, his wife and my grandson live in England and I am in Southern California. My DIL makes sure we get to chat with John, my grandson, a few times a week. She is a treasure, my DIL, and I am so grateful that the distance is not so great when technology is involved.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

I have had such a great time with James while he has been here from England, but the time is drawing to an end and I will miss him so painfully when he goes back to England. Daughter, Karen, is here from Nashville for a little while longer, but not much. She is moving back in August, though, for which I am eternally grateful. Who knows how long she can afford to live in Southern California, but as long as I can keep her I will :)

James and I had a long and busy day at Disneyland on Friday - 21007 steps, 9.03 miles walking, plus rides. I could barely get up on Saturday to go to my scrapbooking club. I did though :) Then Saturday afternoon I was with my niece and her mother (my ex-SIL, who will always be one of my dearest friends), picking up her wedding dress. She looks beautiful in it. It was worth every penny.

Sunday, James and I met my son, Steven and my DIL Vanessa (another gem!) to see Jurassic World. What fun we had! After, James and I went shopping for birthday presents for little John, who turns two on July 7th. We bought two Thomas the Train books and some Thomas the Train wooden engines. He loves trains and "Up-da's" (Helicopters!). I also got some Christmas presents for Hannah (James Wife) and John. Poor James always gets left out. I just don't plan well. Anyway, we loved Jurassic World and we loved shopping.

I slept very very badly last night, though, and I am at work, completely unable to concentrate. Taking a short break here on GS, hoping it will clear up the fog in my brain.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

My weekend was pretty eventful. We left early Saturday morning to get to DD's concert for her music camp. We got lunch there, went to her friend's concert, then left. We got home before 4 pm but it was still a long day as I was (and still am) fighting a nasty cold.

Yesterday we left early so we could catch DD in her first parade with the high school band. It rained on us a little, but it was worth it and we all had a good time. Even DD had fun despite being sore in several places. After she got home, we just chillaxed for a while until her bedtime. Pretty good day, pretty good weekend. :)

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Lynnie - I am so glad you have had such a fun time with family. It will be hard when they leave. A little bit of your heart will go with them I'm sure.

Ane - Sounds like a fun weekend, except the rain, but even that is okay when you are watching your kids do something they love.

I get to watch my grandson again tomorrow. I can't wait to see his little face. A week is much too long to go between visits. He is 20 months old and just a bundle of energy. Also this week my now 17 year old (his birthday was yesterday now that it is the 26th) has both a basketball and soccer tournament this week. Basketball two games a day Tues and Wed. and soccer Thur-Saturday with a double header on Friday and hopefully Saturday for the finals. I am sure I will be exhausted by Saturday since two of his games are at 8am and I do not get up until 10am most mornings. I am such a night owl.

I need another basketball kit! I only have one in my stash and I have about a hundred pictures that need scrapping.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

James' plane took off an hour ago and I'm crushed. It was amazing having him here and all the kids together. I have Karen for a bit longer, which is nice. Not sure how much longer, she has not made up her mind.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Karen is moving back to California in August YAY! Two children living fairly close, that is wonderful. I think the reality of flying back and forth for every friend and family wedding was a little too much for her :)

That is the story of our lives! So many pictures - need more kits!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Poking my head in to say hello! I've been super busy with my son being admitted to Seattle Children's Hospital for 6 days and my dad is visiting from Australia. Unfortunately I had to skip my graduation and cancel our roadtrip due to my son, but we are hanging in there and I hope to get back into scrapping again soon!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Oh Sarah, I hope it is not serious. I hope you are getting to spend some great catchup time with your dad, at least.

Oh Sarah...thinking of you.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

I'm back!!!!!!!

We had a fabulous time on our cruise: Tampa - Havana [overnight] - Cozumel, a day at sea -back to Tampa.

I [we] wish to return again. The people were fabulous.

I have plenty of opinions...:36_1_19: on 'how' to enjoy Havana. There is still so much more I would LOVE to experience. My brother did a 2 week immersion 3 yrs ago. Probably not the smartest move he ever made, but he returned.

Many photos, what a surprise. hehe

June - We celebrated our daughter's and her husband's birthdays and their 5th wedding anniversary.

We just got back from our 3rd vacation since April. (Husband retired in March, so we can go anywhere anytime!)

Now we started a new diet because we're both too fat. We need to lose some weight before our next trip to Florida in September. Disney World here we come!

That's about it.

I am never surprised on how many photos we take. I have been trying to take fewer because managing them is scary and I want to scrap more than manage :)

I am looking forward to retiring. SO SO SO much! I want to be able to spend time with my children, babysit grandchildren, go on holiday all the time. I may need more money to do that though :)

I have been on a perpetual 'diet' for the last 20+ years. At least I am not gaining!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Happy Thursday to all. I am still working on eliminating the duplicates after my EHD failure and erase of a hard drive.

But all happens for a reason, so they say. At least I am getting rid of stuff I know I will never use.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

My daughter and I have had an extremely busy week at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. She had Two days of testing, two days with surgeries, and today we are back at hotel and will fly home Sunday. We got to chat with Jeanne (quilter) and Carla (screen name???).

Im so relieved and happy it's done and went well.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

So what's going on this weekend for everyone? I've got the house to myself for most of today, which is weird, since we usually go shopping on Saturdays. We may yet still, once hubby and DD get home. Tomorrow I've just got church, leaving lots of time with my shrunken family.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Our 15 yo is having a pool party today - the house will be filled with noisy teens soon...
