Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

June is normally super busy, but even busier this year!
*end of year school stuff - that means concerts, band gigs, field trips, karate, etc
*dentist appt
*date night dinner and theater with my 12 year old (usually hubby and I go, but our babysitter is out of town and we decided to divide and conquer and that I would take the oldest to the theater with our tickets and he would go to the zoo or movie with the youngest)
*leaving before school even lets out for Paris! First time taking the kids out of the country
*oops, not true, we went to Canada a few years ago - first time overseas
*so much packing... plus would like to reserve a couple more activities so it is all set before we get there (so excited that I am taking a cooking class in Paris and the kids are excited to be seeing Disneyland Paris!)
*final little league games and playoff leading up to the day we leave!
*need to clean my entire house before we go (I hate coming home from vacation to a house that needs cleaning)
*paint night with the girls the weekend we get back - should be interesting because I am TERRIBLE at pretty much anything artistic...

I did the sad deed of telling my autistic son his grandma, his only living grandparent has cancer. My heart is broken into my fragile pieces.

I'm so sorry you guys are going through such a difficult time....I wish I could say something to make you feel better, but I can imagine how hard it must be. :(

I am so sorry Sherri. That just breaks my heart for you. How is he doing? Hugs to you too.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

June is definitely going to be a busy month for us as well, but a good busy :D

* Both kids are out of school for the summer (their last day was 5/24). I now officially have a 1st and 2nd grader. Some days I'm glad about that, and some days I wish I could send them both back to pre-K and start over lol. My babies are growing up way too fast.

* Ellie finished her 2nd year with the Daisies in Girl Scouts, and bridged over to Brownies. She had summer daycamp all this week. She loved it, but ended up with several burn blisters on her toes from walking on the hot concrete next to the pool at the facility and is now in pain :(

* Eric got to finally join cub scouts. He had his first summer activity last weekend (a movie showing in the park). Summer daycamp is next week.

* My parents are coming to visit from Belgium. They will be getting here on Monday (6/11) and stay the rest of the month. YAY!!!!! Been counting to that for months :D

* Both kids need to be at testing next week Wednesday for their Taekwondo classes. Testing up from orange belt -decided to yellow belt-decided.

* We'll be taking my parents on a mini-vaca to Dallas for a couple days. So far on the program: city bus tour, Medieval Times, Six Flags, Legoland/SeaLife and the Grapevine Heritage Railroad.

* Keep after the kids to do their daily reading lessons so they don't lose their skills by the time the next school year starts in August.

I'm so sorry to hear you have to deal with this! You, your son and your family will be in my prayers for comfort in this difficult time

Anyone ever spend forever on a layout and can't quite put their finger on what the problem is that makes it not quite right? I'm been working on this thing since yesterday and something is missing...I wish I knew what!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Share your layout and maybe we can help you. And yes, I do that all the time. I usually fiddle around with it until I finally just either trash it or save and close and open it another day.

In the end I accepted it as it is. I think most of the problem comes from me being used to filling the entire page with colour and such when I usually scrap. This one had a lot of white space and I was second guessing myself....the composition felt off balance. It's the latest one in my gallery if you want to take a peek. :)

Fingers crossed you win the lottery - or we do!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Seriously busy few days....

  • Daughter Karen arrived from Nashville for her best friends bachelorette weekend.
  • Figured out how to work "Silhouette" and t-shirt press
  • We made shirts that said "Sarah's Squad" (plus special ones for the bride!)
  • We made a sash that said "Soon to be" plus his last name
  • We sorted out decorations, dishes, platters, cool stuff
  • We picked a hat for the bride from the ones I had made.
  • After she left, I worked on the video for Sarah's wedding (pics of them growing up)
  • Friday I made Fascinators for the Daughters of the British Empire fair on Saturday
  • Also made signs, price list, etc.
  • Saturday, worked hard at the fair
  • Sunday church and voters meeting (was reelected)
  • Sunday afternoon purged closet of 7 bags of clothes, 1 bag of shoes and handbags
  • Arranged hangers in colour coordinated order
  • Cleaned house in preparation for son, James' arrival
  • Picked James up from airport after 10:30 PM Sunday night
  • Home and in bed by midnight
  • Working today

YES! I am exhausted :)

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Please, someone award me a medal.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Remember I said last week or so that I had 428 pages come in the mail that I had to put in books. Obviously I have not done that yet, but guess what - James and Karen are doing that today while I am gone. So what if they are in different books than I had planned..... I don't have to do it!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Hats off to you! I'll gladly award you a medal!

Guess what? Today I completed my last college assignment! I have one quiz next week and then it's all over!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

That is great, Sarah. You will be SO happy!

This did not go as planned... it was not fun for them, they could not figure out where anything went. Karen also decided some layouts should not even go in books (she does not get her way here!) So we put them away when I got home and I will do them when I have some time.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

My sister from BC came to see my mom while mom is still healthy enough in mind and body to know them it was a busy couple days. We scattered my other sisters ashes while the three of us were together. Heartbreaking.

My daughter is busy writing multiple exams at year end some course finals some grade twelve diploma exams and finishing up social.

She went to a friends grad. Enjoyed being a teen for a weekend, but at the same time it was rough for her because she should have been graduating too, but due to medical stuff isn't.

We are getting everything lined up for our trip to Minnesota to the Mayo Clinic for her two heart surgeries.

i got a page nominated for layout of the week, great feeling today to see that.

What a lot you have on your heart right now. The loss of a sister, the health of your daughter, and the ache of a teenager who is being left behind by her friends. Wish I could wrap you in a big hug so you know how much compassion and support you have.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

No waffling for five days? Unheard of. What is everyone up to these days?

  • Daughter and son are still here visiting, every second taken up with them
  • Husband (David) and son (James) played at a poetry reading for Sara Teasdale, was a huge success.
  • All the kids were here for Father's day - David wanted hot dogs (REALLY?? Hot Dogs??). It was a rough day for my grandson, Mark, who misses his dad so much. I also get a little teary, missing my two boys.
  • Moderated a political debate between the three kids, one very conservative, one very liberal and one a libertarian. They managed to discuss various issues without killing each other and are still speaking (whew!)
  • Our dog, Belle, is having issues with her thyroid and gall bladder. She is so precious, it breaks my heart to think she will not be with us forever. She is only 9, so depleting my savings a little is worth it, I think!

What are you up to?

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Not a whole lot is happening in my life. DD is gone to a music camp all week, so we have the house to ourselves, mwah hahaha! Still haven't found out what is up with my abdominal pain, even with all those tests and doctor visits. Hoping the doc comes up with some new test for me. Sigh. I will get through this though! :)

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

I'm busy getting things ready for my dad's arrival from Australia this afternoon. :)

I hope so, too, Ane. That is so awful.

That is so exciting. Be sure to take lots of pictures and scrap a ton!

Holy cow! Did you eat and sleep at all? What a fun weekend though. I can't wait to see the pictures from all this.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - JUNE- Let's get to know each other more!

Not too much going on here.
Father's Day was nice. Three of the four kids and family came (dd is in AZ so too far away to come)
My teen son left Monday for a four day soccer camp
Took pictures at a friends wedding this evening
Watched my grandson today and have him tomorrow also. Doing the Nana happy dance. :)
Working on Wednesday and Thursday

Kinda a perfect week for me.

I do manage a few hours food and rest, but not enough, that's for sure! It is exhausting sometimes and I wonder why I don't just slow down. Apparently my mouth is quicker than my brain. I get ideas, then I want to do them, and I say "Oh, I have a great idea" and then there I am - making hats!

I was really lucky, my daughter is here (in California) from Nashville. She is actually here for two bachelorette parties and a wedding, but we were lucky to have her for Father's day. She spends a lot of time with friends, but at least I get to see her :)

Sounds as though you are having a lovely time. How lovely to have your grandson close enough to watch sometimes. My 21 year old grandson is beyond watching and my almost 2 year old is in England. Way too far to drop him at my place. His grandma in England is awesome. She sends me pictures of them baking together and having a great time. It is torture sometimes, knowing how lucky she is, but she shares all she can. I am very blessed with my DIL and her family. Her sister is in early labour now, so we have a new baby to enjoy! My other DIL is also amazing, but not planning on kids in the near future.

Still enjoying the peace and quiet, Ane?

Yes, but it is very boring. Is this what empty-nester syndrome is like? Sometimes I feel like I've lost my purpose in life, or maybe I just need therapy. Reading and scrapping give me a little pleasure but I can't do those all day every day. I'd go nuts like I am now.
