So what's everyone reading??

A voracious reader / audio book listener, I like a lot of genres but tend to lean toward speculative fiction. So far this year, I've read:
* Under the Whispering Door, TJ Klune
* Six Crimson Cranes, Elizabeth Lim
* Elfhame Series, Holly Black
* Paper Menagerie and Other Stories, Ken Liu

Books I would strongly recommend other to read are:
* Project Hail Mary, Andy Weir
* The Midnight Library, Matt Haig
* Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher
* Anything written by Neil Gaiman

I've been reading the Daniel Silva series with Gabriel Allon as the main character.

I am finishing the 3rd book in the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. There are 8 books total and technically the first 2 are not numbered and one that I are nearing the end of is Book 1 - The Blood of Elves.
I have really liked them. I asked for them for Christmas before the 2nd season of the show came out. I find the story really interesting. Not necessary and quick or easy read and I am sure that you must like fantasy to like them.

I can see it's been a while since anyone posted here, but I thought I'd jump in anyway! I am reading The Book of Lost Names by Kristen Harmel. The genre is historical fiction. It's set in France during the Nazi occupation and is about someone who creates forged identity papers for people. It's pretty good so far!

I also think about what else I want to read while I finish the book. Although sometimes I think of 3-4 options at once and then a difficult choice begins:)

I am currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo. For so many years I have been going to read this novel, and now I am reading avidly. I'm a little sorry that I haven't read it before. Although, on the other hand, I am now experiencing such emotions that I do not regret that they were somewhat "postponed".

The Count of Monte Cristo has been on my "to read" list for years. One of these years I'll actually read it! Do you like to read other classics? I loved Les Miserables.

I don't think we have a book pick for August...so I was curious...

What'cha reading?

I picked up The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins which is the prequel to the Hunger Games Series...it tells the story of President Snow. Sooooo good! I'm about halfway done and if they don't come out with a movie for this one I'll be seriously disappointed!

I also grabbed Midnight Sun which is the Twilight story by Stephenie Meyer told from Edward's perspective. That one is next on my list!

I read that one last year, and I liked it!

Does anyone give or receive books for Christmas Eve reading? I love mystery and am going to read Daniel Silvia Portrait of an Unknown Woman.

I'm reading a crazy fun Sci fi ish book called The Kaiju Preservation Society.

I have this book on my wait list at the library glee...I'm a bit of a sci fi fan. Interesting how many books are popping up now with a backdrop of Covid. I have read quite a few where, even though the story is not based around the pandemic, it is mentioned as part of the background to the main story.

I've been visiting Little Free Libraries around my neighborhood and collected a few books. I'm actually planning to build my own for my street this spring/summer so I can begin to de-stash and share my books with others. Does anyone else have a LFL? Currently I'm not reading but rather listening to Stephen King's Fairy Tale Audiobook and it's captivating my attention. I can see why it's getting fabulous reviews....but I still have a ways to go.

I LOVE finding new LFLs.
I'm currently reading Ahab's Wife, which I believe I did pick up at an LFL. It's very intriguing; I recommend it. Don't be dissuaded by how thick it is. You will definitely want to know, "what happens next", and keep reading.

I like to listen to books and right now I'm listening to the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. I'm almost done with Dragonfly in Amber. I'm a romance nut but it has such a fantastic historical story in it. if you love history as much as I do, this is really fantastic.

Loved the TV series. Have only read one of the books so far.

I just finished reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower. (Don't remember the author as I'm at work now, shhh). I'm surprised my 11 grader is reading it for class. It has sexuality, gay references, drugs, alcohol, suicide and depress mentioned. I'm surprise it wasn't banned with all the books that have been banned recently.

I just got Dragonfly in Amber from a nearby Little Free Library. Haven't started it yet. Haven't stopped thinking about Ahab's Wife (or The Stargazer), and another provocative read, The Personal Librarian. Both excellent reads for Women's History month, though that was mere coincidence. Highly recc both books.

I've been reading a lot of Christian romance, Christian Suspense, and Military Romance lately. Some of my current favorite authors are Lorana Hoopes, Jo Grafford, Susan Sleeman, Kimberly Rae Jordan, Ginny Sterling, Rebecca Deel, and Christy Barritt.

If you are looking for clean romance/suspense fiction that are quick reads, these are all good authors to start with.

Like Aimee, I listen to my books now as I spend a ton of time in the car seeing home health patients. I am listening to a series of books called The WingFeather Saga by Andrew Peterson. They are so good and imaginative. I am pretty sure they are designed for middle schoolers but I love them anyway. I might have to check into some of Susan's authors next. I am a sucker for a sweet romance!

I have not been reading much this past year (as my Goodreads page shows) but right now I'm starting Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney.

I don't read much anymore but I do listen to books on my phone with Audible. Somewhere along the way, I got hooked on J. R. Ward's "Black Dagger Brotherhood" Series. Right now I am waiting for the next book in the series to be released on April 11.

Signal Fires was a quick read but really touched me.
Lessons in Chemistry was laugh aloud funny and I had to Google movie options as soon as I turned the last page. Yep, it's coming out on Apple tv in the Fall.

I have Lessons in Chemistry on reserve at my local library following a recommendation by a friend recently.....I'm sitting at #20 on the wait list, I might reach #1 by Christmas:)

Jill, this is a fun tip that has worked wonders: request the Large type edition! The wait list is much much shorter!!

Good thinkin' 99 !! A Get Smart quote in case you are too young to know about him:)

Sounds like we have a few audible fans here...me too...although I cancelled my audible subscription since I thought it was a little pricey. I just download the audio books from the library. Maybe I'll go back to audible because I like not having to wait LOL but I'll wait for Audible to sweeten the deal. They're already trying to woo me back with one free credit...

Some of latest that I gave 5 stars on Goodreads:
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Soooo GOOD)
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

Currently reading:
In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff, Alex Tresniowski

glee, this book became available yesterday via BorrowBox, the library app for digital books. I am thoroughly enjoying it, what a delightful read, I keep feeling bubbles of laughter and joy whilst reading it (I LOVE SixThirty:) ), it kept me in bed until 9am this morning, luckily no one knocked on my door and none of the kids or grandkids came bowling in...oh the horror of being found still in bed at 9am. Cant wait to get back to the book. I will need to cancel my real book reservation now although by the time it becomes available in book form with me being 20 on the list, I might be ready to read it again:)

I started Stephen King's "Fairy Tale" but put it aside to read Harlan Corbin's "I Will Find You" as there is a long waiting list so if I don't finish it, I'll be waiting quite awhile for it again.
