Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2026} Let's get to know each other!

I spent part of my day today at our state's FFA convention. My company sponsors the state degrees, so I was on stage shaking the hands of 312 high schoolers from around the state who earned this award. Now I'm back home, watching the rain pour down, feeling comfy in my house slippers and a Minnie Mouse sweatshirt. I know I should be doing a million things right now, but I'm just chilling. LOL!

Well, I got all my layouts done !!! I have NO idea where I squeezed that creativity from. Starting to feel a little bit better. Hubby and I moved the living room furniture around a little. Things seem to fit better in the space and the cats no longer can jump onto the portable air conditioner and turn it off with their paws. lol ! Might try and watch a movie tonight ... hopefully we can find something good to watch that we can agree on. If not, hubby will turn on westerns by default. :(

Two of my grandkids are out of school and the other four are done next week (they had a few snow days to make up), so they are getting out later.

Guess I better get my art cart ready for "Mimi's Summer Camp" ... I am sure they will be over A lot.

@honeybee Melissa, you churned out some master pieces :)

What kind of movies do you like? Maybe we can suggest some :) some of my goto movies: Dave, American President, Air Force One, Speed, Fools Gold, How to lose a guy in 10 Days, Sahara.... There are also a lot of action movies like: Olympus has Fallen series, James Bond, Bourne series, love them all! There are a million movies I love, but these are the ones my husband really loves too!

Top Gun, TG Maverick if you're into those kinds, MI series is another action-packed set of movies too that hubby and I like to watch when we're "bored" because we can watch, but not WATCH! lol.... @honeybee He'll also tolerate my LOVE for musicals like Pitch Perfect, Mamma Mia, anything Elvis, Dirty Dancing... blah, blah, blah. Good luck finding something!

It is our 45th wedding anniversary weekend so even though we didn't GO anywhere this year, we went out a bunch. Lunch on Friday at a new spot on the Lake. (that's Lake Minnetonka, our biggest metro lake around here and where Freddy grew up) The Shoreline hotel and restaurant have rooms that ALL face the lake and they even take pups! The food was okay. I only say that because the menu was limited. They've just opened. I'm sure it will get better. The view, as always, was spectacular but we just love water. Then we hit the road for a breakfast yesterday to visit a dear friend at her new "dive joint" in a small town about an hour south of us. She used to have a BBQ joint in between us and my usual scrapbooking retreats, but they gave up the lease due to road construction and a couple other issues. This building, she OWNS and it has a 3BR apartment upstairs that she's already leasing, so steady bonus income! The food was amazing and SO MUCH of it. As I said, "dive", so the atmosphere was great. Lindsey came up the minute she saw us and gave us both huge hugs and thanked us for driving SO far just to see her. Well... GPS was NO HELP. Found a much straighter and faster way home. DUH! LOL! This morning I'm taking Freddy to the Legion for Bloody Mary Breakfast and we're wearing our new t-shirts. LONG story. (I'll try my best to shorten) You well know that I come from a long line of sarcastic family members! I married one too. Dad's favorite line was... not kidding, "If I'd killed her 20 years ago, I'd be out on good behavior by now." So, my nickname for DH Freddy is a**hole. Yes, it's true. (and there is a story there too) Love him to death and wouldn't trade my life with him for anything! But the shirt thing.... We were walking into Cracker Barrel back in March, after Freddy had had his second eye surgery and I spied this gentleman sitting at a table with a t-shirt on that read "I'm the a**hole she married" and I stopped short and shook my head, backed up and said to him, "I HAVE to see that shirt." HE GRINNED, pushed back and showed it off like a proud peacock! Then WIFE turns around and hers says, "Real women MARRY a**holes"!!! and I'm DYING right there in Cracker Barrel, yelling to Freddy to get back here and read these and asking them where they got the shirts! I absolutely have to have them. She gives me the link on the spot. I got'em! The Legion is the perfect spot to show them off.

Love y'all!

Thanks, Shana! Right back at ya!

I started my second-to-last class today, History of Popular Culture. It should be interesting. I will "graduate" at the end of September and be hooded in December (???). But I won't get to walk until next May. It's crazy! But I didn't get to walk across the stage for my BA so I want to do it for my MA. I will wait impatiently, lol. :)

Carla, your story about the shirts had me laughing out loud. It truly fits the personality I've linked to you in my head from what you've shared. Happy belated Anniversary!

Ane, good luck with your last class. I know this journey has been a lot.

Shana, the heat has been brutal. I was looking forward to school getting out. Last week we had PD every day except for Monday and Friday. My husband and I went to a couple of state parks on those days. Monday was good but Friday I felt like I was melting into the rocks. Note to self, Central Texas is not where I want to visit in the Summer. I was hoping to get to mid-June before the heat ramped up.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 31st Anniversary next week. We are leaving this Friday and taking a long overdue road trip alone for the first time in over 25 years. Our kids are grown (well the youngest is 18 but quite self-reliant) and can manage for a few days on their own. The two that live at home also have agreed to keep an eye on my mom with a family friend only a phone call away if they need an adult with experience handling medical emergencies until we can get back. We made plans to head to Arkansas and hike to several waterfalls over the course of the week Of course when we made reservations 6 months out we didn't know the weather forecast would include rain/storms for the whole week. Seriously. After last year's adventures in Ohio, we have planned on packing extra clothes, towels, and rain gear. We also keep a tote in the van where we can put muddy items after we come off the trails. Yes, we're still going to get out and hike, just may be a bit more waterlogged and not as many photos with the camera. I'm looking for a waterproof bag/backpack to put my camera in so I can still hopefully get some photos with it in addition to my phone.

One of the boys that was on my grandson's baseball team received a big FFA award!

School is out here. I [we] have the g'kiddo's. They've been great! End of the school year so pages are flowing. Dance recital 'cometh' this "he** week" as my daughter calls it, as she is backstage with S for all 7 shows!!!! Yes, 7. 4 are in the children's division. [that means little ones who are adorable, cry or don't move....ages 2-8] with a mix in of bigger kids to show the parents money isn't wasted and there is hope! So S- will do only one routine in the children's division. [at age 10.... well, not the child dancer anymore]. Then the Upper division- it gets serious. 3 shows with mostly the same numbers. Her main show will be Show C [that we attend - with all 6 routines] as in show A and B she does just 3 numbers.

we've been working on a 1,000 piece puzzle. going to lunch and having fun.

I'm so glad @IvoryKeys and @msbrad ! It makes my heart sing to make people laugh and smile.
TBH, we have some really dear friends on the LFD (Lakeville, where we live) and she confided in me about a year after we met that "I wasn't 100% sure that you two really LOVED each other when we first met." :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Can't IMAGINE what gave her that idea!

Happy Wednesday! (drum roll please.....) I 'graduated' from Physical Therapy today!!! [my second graduation this year and hopefully I do not have to return].
Although I must say, they've been really really really great for me! Full spinal X rays in August and the surgeon visit in Sept. I tend to stay extremely compliant!!!
Took the kids to the pool today. We had a fun time.

Congratulations on finishing PT! Hopefully you won't have to go back again and everything is healed properly.

I repotted some plants and massively chopped back one of my "oopsie" pothos that I have hanging outside. I started water propagating the cuttings I made from the six vines I chopped back so in a few months I should have some baby plants to give to friends. Here's hoping that my kids keep my plants alive while my husband and I are away for the next week.

@msbrad Congratulations on finishing up PT!! That is an accomplishment!

@IvoryKeys I hope to be as knowledgeable at gardening at some point! I don't know what water propagating is - I'll have to look it up. I'm currently trying to figure out how to prune my tomatoes in the correct way. Last year I didn't prune them, and they were absolutely wild. I got plenty of yummy tomatoes, but it was a hot mess in that raised bed! That's what happens when you are a super chill self-taught gardener lol!
