Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2026} Let's get to know each other!

After locking myself in my office for two days, my youth tour itinerary to Washington, D.C., is ALMOST done. I just need to find two more catering companies who will deliver lunch to us on the go (There are tons of companies that do that, I just need to find one in my budget). Then I need to wait for the Washington Monument ticket portal to open for our dates, and the National Archives group ticket portal to open. At least with the Archives, even if you don't have tickets, you can still stand in line and get in. It just goes so much quicker when they know we're coming. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I do not like standing in line for anything! LOL! We have things to see and places to go! Who has time for lines! LOL!

Hubby got us tickets last night for a movie that opens up in a month. I think he's excited to go see the Mandalorian and Grogu. I told him we should dress up in one of our Star Wars shirts to see the film. He suggested that he should bring his light saber. Ha. Um.... sure.... you do that! I'll stand back and watch. LOL!

My kids and I used to go to opening night of tons of things dressed up. Most of the time it was a token dress up, like a scarf or something. We went to the midnight opening of movies like Batman, Indiana Jones, LOTR and Harry Potter. There would be lines a mile long for hours before and they were so much fun’s we would bring a picnic and folding chairs and make friends with everyone in line. Those were the days! I say encourage him to take a light saber and create a memorable page.

LOL... Thank you, Lynnie! My dear sweet hubster has a complete Star Wars wardrobe ranging from a simple T-shirt to a full one costume. He wanted me to have coordinating outfits, so now I have a range of T's, hoodies, and even a couple of dresses. Our daughter thinks we're nuts. LOL!

I love that, Shana! I used to go with my kids and my husband thought we were nuts! Midnight showing, in costume! The waiting in line was part of the show!

Has anyone been posting in Jill’s “scrappy question” threads. They are very interesting!

Welp, I've finished another course. Managed to write a 17-page paper in about 10 days. I sure hope it was worth the effort! I'm taking May off from school, mostly because there's not a course I can take then, I'm so advanced. Only 2 courses left. I will finish at the end of September. Also in May, hubby, me, Eren, and Eren's BFF are going to Hawaii for just over a week. It's a graduation present for Eren, who will be graduating from college in a couple of weeks. Eren was born in Hawaii and they want to see all they things they don't remember.

Other than that, I'm just being me, doing all the things and trying to keep my sciatica pain at bay. I read all your posts. I just wanted you all to know that. <3

Happy Monday from a very rainy Kansas. Mother Nature gave us quite the lightning show in the middle of the night, and it was still lightning as I drove to my office today. In Kansas, a lot of the farmers will burn off old growth to prepare their fields for planting. With all this rain, everything is going to green up so prettily.

*knock knock* Hello? The thread is sinking; I had to save it.

How is everyone? Busy? I am not busy for once, haha. I am enjoying my time off of school by doing not very much. Mostly my volunteer work. Eren and I had a band concert last night. I know I messed up a few times, but hubby said we sounded awesome, so I'll take that, lol. Hubby and I are going out tonight, which will be nice because tomorrow and Saturday will be yardwork. Oh and picking strawberries. That reminds me that my yearly mammogram is tomorrow, yay.

Have an awesome Friday, everyone! <3

@FormbyGirl Lynnie, Branson is sort of my neck of the woods! I wish I could meet you down there, but we are saving our travel $ for Eren's graduation trip to Hawaii in a couple of weeks. Enjoy your time there if you can. I hear it's a pretty fun place.

Anyone participating in the iNSD sales and/or fun? I think I will since I have all this extra time. I haven't scrapped in months, as you can tell from my siggy, lol!

Branson is drivable from here, too... maybe we should schedule a meet up one of these days? :)

I spent most of last week in Washington, D.C., for work. I was there at the same time King Charles was, so you can imagine what the security was like. I didn't any royals on my visit, but a few in our group saw the motorcade at one point. On Saturday, I spent the day volunteering to help with the ElectroRally in Kansas City. This is where high schoolers build and race one-person electric vehicles. I like this program because it teaches the students so much about teamwork, engineering, and problem solving. I also got to serve as a judge for the "best new car" category. Most teams will re-use their vehicles and tweak them, but we had a couple design and create two completely new EVs.

Randy and I also found time to see the new Devils Wear Prada 2 movie. We enjoyed it.

Today is May the Fourth (May the Force) and I'm decked out in Star Wars. There's going to be a huge merchandise drop later today.... while I'm in staff meetings. So we'll see if I'm able to secure the items Randy was hoping for. LOL!

We had planned to return to Orlando for one last Walt Disney World trip before our annual passes expire. And we had booked our flights on Spirit. Sadly, they closed, leaving all their employees jobless and travelers stranded. Since we are so close to our trip, trying to find a replacement flight on another carrier is simply ridiculously priced. So I have a feeling we'll be cancelling that trip. I know it's a small inconvenience when compared to all of those employees, but man... I'm really bummed.

*Crawling out from my cave* LOL !!!!

Life has been out of control lately. After my B12 shot last week I was entirely wiped out for a few days. My niece came home for two weeks and last Friday night she took me, her mom, and my mom to the movies to see the "Michael" movie. Absolutely outstanding !!! At the end everyone was signing through the credits and dancing in the aisles .... so fun. I hadn't been to a movie theater in 6 years so it was an absolute treat for me.

I have been spending a lot of the time watching the Grandkids in the evenings when my daughter is working. They are counting down the days .... they are leaving for their Disneyworld trip on Saturday. I wish we were going, but next year we are planning a big trip with all my kids and all my grandkids.

Job hunting is still a total bust ... but I am looking into staffing agencies. At this point, I'll try whatever.

It's a beautiful day here in PA; a nice 72 degrees; better than 40's and raining which it has been doing a lot of lately.

I have a DEXA Scan tomorrow which is a head to toe scan of my bones. It will show if I am still at the stage before Osteoporosis or full blown in it. My last DEXA was two years ago; so it will be interesting to see what has changed in that time.

I see my Oncologist next week; I have some concerns. They will do labs to see if I have to continue on B12 injections or not. But other issues have arised which I knew to expect. With what I went through (cancer, chemo, radiation, surgeries, etc); the effects last for years and the medicines I am "required" to be on for 7 years have horrible side effects and cause other issues. Like a domino effect ... fix one thing and then something else falls and we have to tackle that.

Hello all. Happy May.
I stay busy trying to keep up with a lot of things.
Back in Physical Therapy that has been quite intense on my back since the cervical fusion surgery. It IS coming along!!! A lot of work, but I'm doing it.
With the Ct and the iNSD, I hope to locate some goodies to purchase for me.
m

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today I'm wearing a Dia de los Muertos panda shirt that an artist in Maryland made. It's one of my faves. Apparently, we're going to have tacos at work today. The temperatures have dropped from a summery high 80s of yesterday down to a very rainy 40s... so it's not time to put away the winter clothes yet. Egads.

Shana, we're having similar weather to you. Traffic to get to my volunteer job was miserable and wet this morning. What usually takes me 40 min. took 55. Congrats on the tacos at work--it is Tuesday, after all in addition to Cinco de Mayo. What a bonus!

All the volunteers at my "job" today were tired. I wonder if it was the weather?

Happy Friday! What are your plans for the weekend? I'll be attending my youngest nephew's high school graduation. I've made him a book of my layouts from his birth through his senior year. I've done this for each of the kids, so he knows it's coming. LOL!

Don't have much planned today, but Lacy, Nick and Kolten are taking us out to brunch tomorrow at one of our favorite places near them "for brunch". OMGosh... do they put on a BRUNCH!!! Seriously, feels like a mile long! Everything you could want in a brunch. Obviously, fruits, veggies, amazing danish and cinnamon rolls to die for, AND........... eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, benedict, ham, prime roast, I can't even remember everything else, but it goes around an entire room! I'll have to take a picture this year and MAYBE even create a page for a change!

Popping in to say "Happy Mother's Day" !!!

I am just enjoying a chill day in my office scrapbooking. Hubby made me pancakes for breakfast and then we are cooking on the grill (Smash burgers), if the weather holds out. It can change on a dime around here .... one day we're sweating and the next minute I am wrapped up in a blanket like a burrito freezing.

My daughter, son-in-law made it this morning to Florida. They made good time from PA to Georgia ... they stayed overnight and were fresh and ready to go for their four hour drive to Disney !!!

Hard to believe that 10 years ago we were in Disney and my daughter was getting engaged .... now she is there with her hubby and two kids. Magical!

I have a super busy week ahead of me .... I will try and pop in to see what's going on and say hello.

Good morning. We had a busy weekend. Youngest nephew graduated and a large part of the extended family was able to help him celebrate. I was shocked to see my Dad with a huge black eye! They had just returned from a cruise and apparently he fell when leaving the ship's theater. He did not look good and it's the first time I've seen him appear so frail. He made me promise to photoshop his face to remove the bruise from the photos.

Mother's Day is always a difficult one for me as I lost my mother 17 years ago (hard to believe it's been that long). And our daughter is going through a stage that she feels that sending me a text is an appropriate way to "celebrate." Oh my. But I have youth tour alumni that live close by, and they invited me to go a berry festival with them. So we did, and it was fun. Then Randy took me over to the local park where we had a lovely day to walk around and just enjoy.

We had one last Walt Disney World trip planned for this coming weekend before our annual passes expired. But due to the closing of Spirit Airlines, we were unable to find affordable replacement flights in such short notice. Randy tried everything he could to come up with a crazy route that would be in budget. While it was sort-of affordable, it added two additional travel days to our itinerary and he simply can't afford to be gone that much during planting season. So with a couple of tears this morning, we made the decision to cancel the trip. I'm just gutted as I was so looking forward to one last visit. I know it's the right / adult / reasonable decision, but man... I'm so incredibly bummed. I keep telling myself that we can now put that money into my "bucket list" trip of visiting the Asian parks (Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai)... I already have a savings account set up for that trip and hope to be able to do that trip in a couple of years.

That would have been lovely!! I really didn't have time, though. Maybe we need to schedule a big get together that everyone can come to. I was only in that part of the country for a few days, though....

I was gone for the whole INSD thing, sadly.

Branson is drivable from here, too... maybe we should schedule a meet up one of these days? :)

It would have been fun to see everyone, but I probably wasn't in Branson long enough... We did have a nice few hours on a trip around the College of the Ozarks. How lovely that kids can graduate without any debt! Impressive school, too.

I am so sad you missed that last trip to Disney. That was a shock about Spirit happening so quickly and not giving people enough of an opportunity to find alternative flights. I hope you get your refund. They said that it would be easy to get refunds for the flights.

Karen worked at Disney Paris for a year and I still have friends there. I am lucky that I can get in free when I visit :)

So sorry things have been tough for you. Heath and jobs! That is a lot going on.

Hello all. Happy May.

I hope you are done with the physical therapy soon. How come you are back in therapy? Did you graduate and then injure it again?

Don't have much planned today, but Lacy, Nick and Kolten are taking us out to brunch tomorrow at one of our favorite places near them "for brunch". OMGosh... do they put on a BRUNCH!!! That sounds amazing!

There - I have done my bit! I am playing catch up with tons of stuff, but thought I would drop in and say hi! I haven't even changed my siggie this month. Oh my!

Son Steven, his wife Nessa and the kids came over for Mother's Day. I watched online church in my pajamas (how lazy was that!) and didn't even clean house before they arrived. They brought charcuterie and sandwiches. The meals was amazing and we watched "Remarkably Bright Creatures." I loved it. Then we watched "Mother's Day" with Jennifer Anniston, Kate Hudson & Julia Roberts. I loved that one too. That one I had seen before. I got tons of great pictures to scrap and I am very very happy :)

Thanks, Lynnie. Yes, the cancelled airfare was immediately refunded. We were supposed to leave today, so needless to say I'm feeling a little blue that I'm at work and not getting ready to land at our destination. I told Randy that what would cheer me up is if he FINALLY cleaned up ALL his piles that are taking over our home. He grumbled, but he agreed. So we'll see what actually happens with "pile gate". LOL.

Lynnie, don't feel bas about your siggy . . . I haven't changed mine in 4 months! I'm glad you got to enjoy Branson a bit.

Eren is graduating from college this weekend, so we have those events to look forward to before leaving on our trip to Hawaii next Monday. I'm excited and happy for Eren. They are looking for a new apartment and a grown-up job. I'm just hoping they remember to iron their gown so they don't look like a checkerboard at convocation and commencement! :ROFLMAO:

I'm a little worried about our trip though. We have to get up really early to get through the airport on time, and wake up 2 young adults to do so. Plus, is the TSA happy again and will our flights get cancelled? Darn spirit airlines indeed!

Happy Thursday, May 14th.
It's been a busy month of May for us. Physical Therapy is going very very well. I 'returned' to it per the surgeon, as he asked me if I was where I wanted to be physically and the answer was no. I can honestly say with this newer round, I am truly getting much much stronger and virtually little to zero pain with the sciatica. The amount and type of strength training has been incredible for me. I'm very grateful.
Also this month- grandson had his final orchestra concert of middle school. He looks forward to high school orchestra and hopefully makes the baseball team. He also received his Confirmation at church on Tuesday.
Granddaughter- dance dance dance. Competition season is over. Now onto recital.

We saw a little reel on planting a half of a strawberry. We've done several but one has really grown!!!! No fruit yet.
The last day of school is May 29.

May has been a pretty relaxed month for us so far! I've basically been focused on getting my garden going. I've got my snap peas, greens, and some herbs planted, and I've got several other things ready and waiting to go in once the weather cooperates. I'm trying watermelon again this year - I've tried 3 times over the years and never had success. I'm pretty determined this time, so fingers crossed on that.

Last night, my son Gavin told me his mattress ripped and that he was getting poked. Turns out, it is fiberglass. The mattress I bought him was from Amazon and specifically said it was fiberglass free, but this is definitely fiberglass. So today we are doing a deep clean, renting a carpet shampooer, and buying a new mattress and bedding and everything. Very frustrating! I've literally never dealt with fiberglass before, but I know it's bad stuff. I read that it will come out of clothes by dissolving if you use vinegar and detergent together, so we are going to try that for a couple of his favorite blankets. Ugh.

Playing catch up again...I know I just can't seem to find time for anything these days! I have certainly been busy traveling, with #1 son to Portugal in February and #2 son to Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria in April for my 65th birthday. Both trips were amazing and I am staying put now but maybe just a little while. I have so many scrapbooks going that I get confused. haha!

For Mother's Day, #1 son came over and we set a date for High Tea in a couple weeks, #2 son video chatted with me for an hour so we caught up. Unfortunately my Mom and Grandma have passed so I am going to go next week after it dries up here and plant my annual flowers on their graves.

The weather here has been all over the map, one day warm, one day cold, one day raining now it is decent but a wicked rain and wind storm overnight. I was out side cleaning up the garage yesterday and accomplished a lot. In the middle of the night I heard my shed door bang (it is located next to the master bedroom) and I thought someone broke in...and my bike is in there!! So here I am in my jammies and boots headed out the door to check on it. It turned out that I forgot to lock the door when I was working out there. Phew, I was dreading seeing my bike gone but I just locked it up and went back to bed.

Well, hoping all is well with those that need it and the weather improves for everyone.
