Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2026} Let's get to know each other!

Nothing spectacular here. It's been a crazy-busy week.
Two funerals, one very sad, one sort of-eventually expected. Our oldest daughter's, bestie's younger sister fell, hit her head. Brain bleed and passed the same day, May 3rd. She was a Sped student of mine and such a sweetie. Also just happened to be born on exactly the same day as our youngest daughter! Go figure. Sooooo sad. Then my Godfather. 96; wonderful, long life. Very fulfilling, GREAT man. One of the first paramedic/EMTs in the capital city of MN. Was district Chief of the SPFD. The reception was in HIS old fire station that they've turned into a neighborhood bar, with an event center upstairs. So cool. We sat at a table "in his office". lol.
But finishing off the week with fabulous lunches with ladies! Yesterday, some of my billing ladies from neighboring districts took me out. I MISS them already. We had a great group chat and bounced things off each other all the time. Work stuff AND family stuff. It was super to work with them. DO NOT miss the job at all! LOL! Chatted with the service provider last night via email really quick because I'd sent her a sympathy card for her mom and she said that no one from our district had contacted them about billing so I wonder how the heck they are finishing my job because it's getting really close to the wire. (NO, not that I care... not my problem! Just surprised, because that's one of the service providers "services" when districts are "in need", so I guessed that they would be asking.) Then I'm having lunch with a DEAR, DEAR friend today that will end up being several hours long because that's just what we do. smh... It's on our calendar for every several months.
Lacy and Freddy have scheduled my retirement party for June 12th. Until then, it's just making cards, hanging out with friends, hanging out with Harley, planting flowers, day-drinking on my deck. YAY!

Happy Friday. We are having a new front door to our house installing at the moment!. The original...was 43 years of good service. Time for an upgrade. Added a bit of glass at the top to allow more lighting in.
PT went really well yesterday.
Currently knitting a blanket [it was supposed to be a shawl, but too wide] and it feels like I'm knitting in place. Oh- it is taking so long...!
Tonight a birthday party for a friend turning 99!

Things have been status quo over here. I'm still going on interviews for a promotional position as Administrative Assistant. The title comes with about $10,000 pay increase!!!
Molly just told as she is not interested in getting her last permit to be a teacher (even though that's what she has her masters in). She wants to become a librarian and can start next spring on the classes she needs at a local SUNY college. She still works as a soccer coach for preschoolers. She also works at the local library with me but on different days. She is only a page (shelving books). So, with the two jobs she claims she barely has enough to pay her college loans and feed herself and boyfriend who isn't mentally and physically able to hold a full-time job as he has ESD and POTS.
Philip is in his 2nd year at college. Still struggling. Next semester he has to re-take English and Math (both of which he failed last time he took them). He still didn't find a job. We all know how hard that is! He still didn't get his license. Hopefully we'll work on that and get it before school starts back up in the fall.
Hubby started his "summer" job working at another ballpark besides his 40 hr. a week job. So, he is either working, sleeping or eating and has a short fuse because he's always tired or hungry. He says he is starting to feel his age now (he's 59).

Hope everyone stays healthy or heals from their ailments.

Things seem to never stop around here, like riding a constant rollercoaster.

On Thursday I went to the Oncologist for a recheck and my blood pressure was 162/105 .... and my blood count came back extremely low. Of course they waited until I drove 40 minutes home to call me to come back in and get it rechecked the same day. So I did ... but it was fine. They think when they flushed my port to take blood there was too much flush still in the line and it diluted the specimen. The one medical assistant drew it from my hand the second time and the result was normal (I mean my normal low not normal-normal).

Yesterday I went to my family physician about the high blood pressure .... she checked it again and it was okay. Did an EKG but just to be on the safe side, (after all I have been through), and a family history of heart disease .... she is sending me to a cardiologist just to get checked out. Oh well, another doctor to add to my list. LOL!!!

Job front ... sucks !!! I will leave it at that.

My daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids are on their way back home from Disney today. They had such a magical time ... I just loved all the photos so far ..... I am sure my daughter took thousands !!! They stayed at Port Orleans Riverside .... it was beautiful !!! She is already planning our trip next year in the car on the way home right now ... the count down is on !!! I personally can't think that far ahead ... life is pretty day to day here right now with all the health issues with me and my mom.

Yesterday I started meeting with a therapist ..... I have been holding a lot inside, and I think she is really going to help me move forward. I am excited about her plan and she even gave me "homework" with things to think about to work on. My son started therapy yesterday too. He is 26 years old and has autism and Aspbergers syndrome. Ever since COVID he has become a homebody and rarely likes to go out of the house. He needs interaction with people and get into some life skills program and get job trained in something. They are also going to help us get him back on disability. He was taken off when he graduated high school ... like he was cured or something. That is just a whole mess of a system. I couldn't even get temporary disability while going through cancer.

But we are taking steps FORWARD not backward around here. Some days are good .... some days are tough. But the weather is supposed to be nice the next few days so that will require some "porch sittin".

I am cooking a big lasagna dinner for my daughter since we didn't get to spend Mother's Day together last week since she was in Florida. Betty Crocker here is even going to back a cake ... lol !!! I can't wait to hear what a great time the grandbabies had. I have a feeling they are going to talk my ears off. But at least I have a lot of new pictures to scrapbook.

I am SO GLAD that you're getting some things "fixed" Melissa... like a therapist for you and your son. THAT just infuriates me to no end that they pull kids off of disability after HS! They do it here in MN too. (of all states!) We scream blue like raging waters and they still do it. But sorry, don't get me started. I'm glad you're working towards a good end there.
So sorry that you had to go through an extra visit for your BP. Don't we all get weirded out when we go to the doc? Please. And wishing you better results with the job hunt.

We're trying to enjoy our "deck sittin" too a little bit before the "state bird" starts hatching here in MN. We live by a pond so we tend to end up with a few more mosquitos than most. Tend to stay indoors and in AC once they start swarming.

Wishing you and hubby and son better job-hunting too Miss LilyAnn! It's a tough market out there!

Not a lot new or different here. Enjoying retirement... or LOA before official retirement. (same thing)

Love and Blessings.
Carla, in MN

Happy Monday from a very windy Kansas today. We have storms rolling in, so I'm planning to head home before any severe weather builds up. Spent the weekend helping the hubster clean and organize his closets. He had a stash of Longaberger baskets in his closet??? We don't use them. They are no longer our style. Not sure what to do with them.

This was the weekend we were SUPPOSED to be at Walt Disney World, so I kept myself busy as to stay in front of the disappointment of having to cancel our trip. But I did do a lot of pin trading via our Facebook Groups, so I will be making a stop at the post office on the way home. One highlight was that I got to meet up with my daughter for lunch at our favorite Thai restaurant. So that was lovely. She and her boyfriend both are very much struggling... neither are happy with their jobs. Morgan has ADHD and very low motivation... she wants a better paying job with better hours, but she won't take the steps to actually look for one. Had to explain that "good" jobs won't fall into her lap and that some work would be required on her part to actually find something new. She's always been one to take the "easy" path and then is upset when she doesn't get the life that she sees on social media.

Wow... we had quite the storms last night. The weather man said we had gusts up to 80 mph! There were lots of tornado warnings, but our community didn't see much (thankfully). There were a lot of tree limbs down on the road on the way to work. Yesterday's temps were in the high 80s and today we are in the high 50s.

Checking in from time to time. I have a lot going on right now with summer on it's way and I have to do all the yardwork myself. I hired a company to do the spring clean up and I had to pre-pay but they haven't showed up yet?? I will call tomorrow as it is a bit later already and is super windy anyways.

I had an accident on the weekend, my son purchased everything to build a new door on my basement furnace room so my nosy cat can't get into it. We needed to move a big table outside to cut the wood and panel board and sure enough I hurt myself when a smaller table fell on my foot (and of course I was barefoot)! So needless to say I have been in pain for a week with my foot elevated. I saw the Dr. today (ya took me that long to get in) and good news is there is nothing broken or fractured as I already thought since I could walk on it. Sheesh, it sucks getting old!!

Today I went shopping at Costco after my appointment and sure enough I got charged double for some outdoor flower packs I bought. So I had to go back and stand in line for 1/2 hour to get a refund. On the bright side, the weather is a bit warmer after the cold and rain we have been having everything has greened up. I hope to get the flowers in this week and plant some at my Mom & Dad's graves on Saturday.

Well until next time, happy scrapping.

Karen, hope you feel better soon. Ouch!

We are planning to reorganize the house (aka get my hubby to sort and toss most of his piles). If anyone has any tips on convincing an ADHD adult how to efficiently sort and toss piles upon piles, I'm all ears! LOL!!!

Whew! I survived the 2025-2026 school year, barely. While it feels like it passed in a whirlwind it also feels like the longest year ever at the same time. Kind of confusing. The enrollment numbers at the middle school doubled so they were able to justify hiring a full-time position for next year which allows me to go back to only teaching on the 5th/6th grade campus full time. There are quite a few changes on that campus for next year so we'll see if by December I decide to make next year my last or not. Retirement started to look really good this year.

I'm looking forward to having some quiet days ahead for a few weeks at least. This weekend is possibly going to be a wash out so I may work on propagating some of my houseplants. I'm looking into starting a "worm farm" so I can have worm castings to use as a natural fertilizer. A friend of mine has a couple and her plants are thriving.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Hey everyone, sorry for the silence. I spent the last 8 days in Hawaii (Oahu) showing my youngest (Eren) and their BFF where Eren was born. We got to do so many different things--hiking, surfing, snorkeling, beach time, and lots of good local food. We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center and enjoyed a tour and luau there. Of course I got fried--I would have been ok, but I had bronchitis and sinusitis when we started the trip, so I was on a couple of mean drugs that enhanced the sun's rays. I still enjoyed the trip, as did all of us. Now I need a vacation from my vacation!

So sad to hear about PBP closing! I love a lot of their designers and hope they find their way here. That would be sweet!

Just popping in to say hello .... I have been horrifically sick and I just can't seem to kick it. I haven't even had the umph to scrapbook any. But I am going to see what I can tackle in the next few days. I have no other tasks this week, no grandkids to babysit, just therapy on Friday virtually. Hopefully I can push 10 layouts quickly. My brain needs a distraction other than blowing my nose every 10 minutes and coughing about every 15.

@carla, Breoni, I had an account at PBP as well but I deleted all my layouts there some time ago when I felt GS was my home! :)
@AJsRandom, sounds like a fun time, I have Hawaii on my bucket list!
@honeybee, so sorry to hear of you illness, hoping you feel better soon! Hugs

Cycle season has begun for me so I have been out in the great outdoors a lot more than on the computer lately and it feels good to unplug for a bit. So sorry that I am not more present here but I do catch up every once in a while.

Take care everyone!

@Route66, I feel you. I had an account there mainly because I was on Dandelion Dust Designs' CT when she moved over there. But I found having two websites was too much to manage with the limited time I had, so I haven't been active on that site for well over a year. I did think they had good challenges and fun contests, and people there were kind. I do hope they find their way over to this site! <3

@Route66 I was on Jill Walls CT over at PBP for a couple years before she passed away but yes as @breoni mentioned, it was really hard to manage two sites and a full time job. There are several designers over there who were here at one time or another, so maybe they'll come back. I feel bad for Fayette. She put her heart and soul into that site. I hope everything is okay with her.

Hi friends :) I'm popping in because Lynnie tagged me. Sure is sad when a log time site closes :( I feel bad for everyone, the owner, staff and members. It is always so sad. Of course everyone is more than welcome to come join us at GS, the more the merrier!

As far as designers coming to GS, I only sent out 1 offer. We just have a really full line up as it is right now, and I have 5 designer scheduled to open in the coming months, a few new to GS and a few returning ;) I would love to say, everyone one can come open up shop here, but I do have to be fair to the designers we already have and balance the server space etc. A lot of thought goes into it. I hope they all have the best of luck and find a new perfect home <3

And if you have any friends in their community, let them know we are happy for them to join us here! <3

Hey all, it's Friday! Anyone have any plans for the weekend?

We will go to the local farmers' market and otherwise grocery shop. Maybe we will go see a movie too--I've got The Mandalorian and Grogu on my mind. ;)

Have a great weekend everyone! <3
