Carla, I have just read what you shared last week.... What terrible news and for the wife to find him would be an horrific experience. I pray for all those grieving that they will eventually feel some healing and comfort.

Glee, I had to look up just about every other word in your post, but WHAT FUN! OMGosh... So a huge cultural street fair with dancing. Count me in! I'm impressed that you held yourself to not spending. With all the color and talent there, I don't know that I could have controlled myself.

Rae, updates are SO infuriating! And you're so right; they never want to assume responsibility. Good luck.

Thanks A-M. So sad. They're struggling through.

Can't believe July is almost upon us. That means almost half the summer is gone. ARGH!

Good morning ladies. I am heading out with a friend for a photo drive where we'll stop alongside the ponds we find and see what ducks and birds are around. There may not be many b/c it is so hot out there already and the wildlife might be hidden in the shady areas but who knows. That is the fun, you never know what you'll find. I got PS to work last night by deleting the preference folder and then PS had to rebuild it. But I'll check today when I come home, to see if it is still working. If so, then I will start reloading actions/styles/brushes, etc back in. Fingers crossed.

Carla - I know, right? June seemed to fly by.

I'd better get dressed and be ready to leave when my friend gets here soon. HAGD everyone.

You can tell when July is getting close because all of the fireworks tents start to pop up! I'm not one who buys fireworks (I don't like the noise), but I'm happy to watch the pretty lights from inside! LOL!

Glee, what a fun festival! I don't think I'd have the first clue on how to properly put on a kimono. But they are so beautiful.

It's supposed to be in the triple digit temperatures this week... so I'm hoping to stay inside as much as possible and keep cool. I finally got all of my 2,700+ photos from my youth tour sorted. But then I was so tired after a long day of work yesterday that I put myself to bed without any supper or any scrapbooking! Ha. I needed the sleep!

Hi everyone!

We had an awesome short trip to Utah to meet my new grandson. He is adorable and I got to hold him a lot, which was so awesome! We rented an Air BnB this time and had the kids come to us, so the burden wouldn't be on anyone to host. It worked out so great! It was so fun to watch everyone getting along, playing games, and eating together. I have plenty of scrap-able pix, so I'm excited to get started on that.

I'm glad to see that everyone had a good weekend! I missed checking in, but I'm all caught up now. :)

Just a quick check-in. Things are a little chaotic right now. I am trying to sort out a living situation for my grandson, which is a little stressful.

Keeping up with the reading, but not able to answer much.

Whew, it has been busy here, hugs to all that need it and happy to get caught up with everyone else.

I have been really busy myself with work and cleaning up Mom's estate. It has been hard as some things you go through just punch you in the gut! Father's Day, i went to the gravesite, it was really hard being there but glad that they are both together now.

This week I was back on the exercise trail and dragged out hubby a couple of times either on a walk or a nice stroll on our bikes on the trail. He is enjoying it after his back surgery last year.

I will check in again soon, have a great rest of the week everyone.

Just popping in to say...I'm back on the CT team! It sure feels good to be back in the fold again.

I was out on a photo walk this morning and in the pool this afternoon. It's been a busy but fun day.

I am a little excited to be more involved here as I am no longer on any other site teams and have not been on a designer CT for a long time and no plans to join one.
Ginger has given me permission to host a Random challenge so keep an eye on that section - possibly on the weekend I might have something ready.

Hi Anne-Marie...good to hear from you.

I'm heading out for an early morning walk around the lake with friends and remi will hang out with another dog. They will enjoy swimming together.

It's going to be in the 90's today so it will be hot and sweaty by the time we finish. I'll come home and hop in the pool. Then I'll have the afternoon to relax indoors in the a/c. Also have to figure out something easy for dinner.

Need more coffee and better get ready for my hike. HAGD everyone.

It was triple digit temps yesterday and it's supposed to stay hot, hot, hot for the rest of the week. So I'm staying inside and cool as much as possible. I've started memorizing the next batch of faces that will be traveling with me in a little more than two weeks, and I'm trying to get as much done at the office as possible while I can. Week is flying by and I'm falling into bed exhausted each night.

Tonight, I give a presentation to the local Optimist Club about my Youth Tour program, so that should be fun. I made s short presentation to show off some of the photos of the kids having fun and some of the places we visited, but I'm hoping they'll have lots of questions so I didn't make the presentation too long.

A-M, looking forward to your challenges!

Rae, glad you're back on the CT!

My nephew and his girlfriend are expecting baby #2 today! So I should have a new great-niece by the end of the day! YAY!!!

WTG Rae, have fun!

Shana, can't wait for baby pics and enjoy your new group.

Lynnie, hoping you are able to settle in your grandson.

Ane, exciting that you got to see your new grandson, maybe some layouts soon??

We had a huge storm sweep thorough last night. The wind was terrifying (possible tornado watch) but we were fine here I did hear that there were some smaller towns that had some touchdowns but thankfully little damage and no reported injuries. As quick as it came, it was done.

I am off tonight to a Candlelight symphony to the music of Taylor Swift, taking my grandie. I think it's going to be brilliant!

That candle light symphony sounds intriguing. Normally the Honolulu Symphony plays a free concert in the park right in my town of Kailua at the beginning of the summer. They didn't do it this year and I really missed it.
Cats is playing (again) at our concert hall. I wish they'd have brought Six instead, we've all seen Cats, and more than once. If Six could tour Australia, I don't see why it didn't come to Honolulu.

Last night was the memorial service for a dear friend of mine, a former roommate and college best friend. It was fabulous to hear testimony from all the lives she's touched thru the years. She was a prominent local theater person, acting, directing and producing. She passed on May 1 and it really didn't hit me hard til last night. Somehow it became real. I can't believe I'll never see her beautiful self and laugh with her again.

Glee - Sorry to hear of your old college roommate/friend. Can you believe, I've never seen Cats. I should have seen it in Vancouver when I had the chance. In our little town there won't be any big productions.

I took Jen grocery shopping, she damaged her knee and it is still very painful and debilitating for her. Unfortunately, without medical care here, she is on her own as to how to treat it so hopefully she is doing the right thing by wrapping in a tensor bandage, not walking on it too much and icing it. I pushed the cart and she hobbled around, grabbing some things. I offered to shop for her but I think she really wanted to get out for some fresh air. She probably should have been on crutches last week but none of us thought of it and if there are any here to rent. Too late now b/c I think she'll be weightbearing more by next week.

Hiked about 1.5 miles around the lake this morning with Remi. Now I'm feeling lazy. Time to binge some TV and get dinner.

Happy Friday, all! My new little grand-niece was born last night! My nephew sent a photo, but no name has been announced yet. Hoping to hear that today. :)

Everyone sounds so busy :) Love all the fun an exciting things folks are doing.

Glee, I am so sorry about your friend. It is hard to lose someone you care about. It is the laughter and memories that keep you going. I am happy you were able to hear about the lives she touched.

Shana, I am surprised you have time to scrap at all!!

Anne-Marie, I will look for your challenge. Be sure to advertise it here each month.

I still don't have grandson Mark settled. I am not sure what is going to happen, we will see.

Lynnie, I assumed that was Mark. I'm just glad to hear he's able to be getting a place on his own.

Shana, congrats on the new little one.

Rae, make sure she elevates her leg. And I think they reccomend alternating ice and a heating pad? Ouch. I'm sure she was glad to just get out of the house.

AM, will def keep eyes peeled for your challenges.

thanks all for your condolences, I kind of tried not to think about it too much until last night. But i'm so happy she's not suffering anymore.

I heard the smoke from the wildfires has moved towards the midwest. Are they under control at all, or getting worse? I saw a Canada Day food special on my office menu, so thinking of you and those beautiful forests with an aching heart.
aloha....

Shana - baby news is always exciting!

I'm off to a BBQ birthday party today. It will be hot and sunny so will enjoy sitting out under the shade of their big tree. I will definitely enjoy a low carb raspberry vodka cooler or two. I'm not much of a drinker anymore but I think I will enjoy these in the heat today. We'll leave the dogs home with Jen (who is still staying off her banged up knee) and will be home in the early evening. I made deviled eggs with bacon to bring along. Then tomorrow will be a trip to the dog park in the morning and then in the pool in the afternoon. Should be a wonderful wkend. I'll get some scrapping time in too maybe.

Since I got back from my trip, I've been pretty much doing not much besides CT work, which is fun. :) Today I went to the farmer's market and scored some good produce, I also went grocery shopping at 2 other places with Eren. Now we're kind of taking it easy because Eren is sick (I'm still getting over my cold) and I haven't been sleeping well.

Tomorrow should be nicer, just church and maybe a bike ride. It's been hot here too, in the high 90's, with storms last night and this morning. Looking forward to temps dropping, hopefully on Thursday like the weather app says. :)

Ane - you can send some of your hot weather our way down here in Australia as we are having a cold snap right now.

Even though it is July and half the year has gone, if you want to create a calendar ready for next year come and join me in my random challenge HERE

Awesome challenge I do a calendar every year and this is a great motivation to not wait until the last minute.

Just a little background...

I was born and raised on the edge of the Irish Sea. I could smell the sea from my home. My family were descended from the folks who founded the first lifeboat station in the UK, maybe the world. It is believed to have been established as early as 1776 by William Hutchinson, the Dock Master for the Liverpool Common Council. Although no exact record has been found, the boat used is believed to have been a 'Mersey Gig'. The foundations of the last of the lifeboat station buildings remain on the beach to this day. When I was young, they were a little more than a foundation.

My family can be traced in the village to the Doomsday Book, a survey taken in 1086 at the behest of William the Conqueror.

When I see my little siggie on the beach, it is not really the beach, it is a raw and wild Irish Sea. The ripples on the sand were hard on the feet and we could dig for winkles and cockles if we wanted to. There was an amazing shipwreck that we could walk out to when the tide was out, but was almost covered when the tide was in. it was the PEGU, which sank in 1939. Rumour has it, it carried a large cargo of whiskey, which was 'liberated' the locals before the customs officers tracked it down. They say my great uncle carried off a bit and buried it on the family farm and never had another sober day in his life.'

So when you see my siggie, I am secretly on the shore, re-living my childhood.

Lynnie, what a great story and a wonderful siggie!

I can only wish that I lived on a beach, but, for now, I am thankful that I have my pool in the backyard as it has been hotter than #@$% here is South Mississippi! Most days the temp is in the 100's and the feels like is 119. For the most part, we have all been staying inside, except for when we go out to cool off in the pool.

We are going to out to eat dinner this evening for my birthday. My mother will be going with us and my son will be meeting us there. Will be a good time for sure.

Have a great day, everyone!

Happy birthday Carla! Whew, in the 100s is even worse than us. Our dry heat feels like 100 today, we've been climbing to 90ish and will soon be close to your temps. Thank goodness for a/c. Hope your restaurant is well air conditioned :)

Lynnie - what a wonderful story and what a wonderful memory your siggy evokes for you.

I can say the same as Carla - it is hotter than #@$% here.

I am heading out to the dog park in a few minutes and then over to the river to cool off with the dogs and then will come back to hibernate in the house other than a dip in the pool this afternoon.

HAGD everyone!

Carla, Happy birthday!

Lynnie, What a lovely new siggie, love your history story too.

Rae, I am sure the dogs love to cool off in the river.

It is warmer here today with a bit of rain so it is very humid. Looks like an indoor day today, maybe I will get a layout or two done. Still sorting and editing photos from my trip and my son has not given me any of his yet. I can't wait to start on them.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone an enjoy the 4th of July for those in the US.

I will happily share my (and everyone else's) hot weather with you, Anne-Marie! I think I'll join your challenge. :)

Carla, Happy Birthday!!!

Eren will have another interview for a job in the next couple of days. I really hope this one pans out. They've applied to so many and snubbed so many times, even though everyone says they are hiring?! Le sigh.

Hello Ladies,
I know it's been awhile, been so busy. Watching my youngest 3 grandchildren a lot lately, and pet setting... LOL My first plane trip has been put on hold, My daughter-in-law ended up having to have a major surgery, and my son had to cancel, he is doing a lot of the household chores and helping his wife dress and get around, he is a very patient person and has been doing a great job of taking care of her and the kids and the pets... He works from home most of the time. So that helps...
I have to go to the hospital tomorrow for tests, so not looking forward to that, but needs to be done. Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July, and I will try and stop in again soon. Till next time... :)

Happy Birthday Carla! Getting to hotter than #@$% here too... but that's normal for July in MN. Add the humidity and we sorta do the same thing we do in the middle of January. AC-house to AC-car to AC-work and reverse. Of course, I'm off in the summer, so I don't have to leave as often, thank goodness.

GREAT stories, Lynnie! And wonderful siggie to go along with it.

Good luck to Eren!

So sorry about your trip and your DIL, Alta.

All's fairly well here. Nothing particularly new.

Happy 4th to my USA friends!
