Holy cow, Lynnie... I bet you are tired. I managed to get in 20 layouts by last night, and I'm happy with that number considering how much travel I had in March. I actually have a weekend at home. Our weather has warmed up (it was 80 degrees yesterday), but oh my... the winds! You had to hold on to something if you were outside yesterday! I haven't looked at the forecast yet today. The Farmers' Market is scheduled to reopen for the season today, so I may head to town and check that out and get some steps in. Hope you all have a great weekend!

I am tired. I am not working any more, so I don't have to worry about that, but I do babysit 3-4 days a week, walk five miles a day (which ends up being almost two hours, because I drag my feet haha), and I am involved in way too many clubs and activities. When I first retired, I relaxed a lot more, but I seem compelled to fill up any free hours, which is all my own fault. I just get tired.

I've managed to do 20 pages for the scrapathon plus my CT requirements. And that is really a lot for me. There are so many other things I like to do, so it is always a matter of making choices.
I was lucky this month that it was one of the wettest month's ever, days of rain kept me inside scrapping, LOL.
Today is a rainy day too, so my first challenge is already in the gallery! Have a great weekend everyone.

I do love curling up when it is raining outside and taking advantage of the enforced 'rest' to do fun stuff like scrapping! It is making choices and it was nice for me to choose scrapping this month! I have been neglecting it terribly. I sort of fell out of the swing of things and almost stopped scrapping completely for a while. The scrapathon was a great boost. By the way, it is lovely to see you here chatting :)

Love all the zoom meeting layouts! Every layout is different and beautiful and really shows the creativity in this group!
I jumped in halfway through the Scrap-a-thon and got 10 layouts finished. I snuck 3 in under the wire last night. LOL. Loved all the great challenges.

If you're in the US, we survived the rolling storms that produced tornadoes last night. I've just turned on the TV but as we watched the weather all night last night, I knew there will be severe damage in places near to us. After the school shooting Monday in Nashville and then these storms, there are a lot of hurting people here.

Diane, I am so glad you have weathered the storms well. The devastation is dreadful. There was a tornado in Nashville some years ago, shortly after my daughter moved back to California. Here neighbour there sent pictures of Karen's old apartment, completely destroyed. It made my blood run cold.

I started the Scrapathon on the 17th March and was not sure I would even complete 10 - I really loved doing the scrapping so much I ended up with 31. It was such a great motivation. I used to scrap all the time and these days have barely done any.

I did 20 for the challenges. 131 gallery comments. Not bad considering we were gone March 9-20.
Baseball today.

That is really good, but you are such a quick and talented scrapper. Great on the gallery comments, I think I managed 63. It gives you a lot of admiration for the Sugar Cookies who need to do a minimum of 200 comments a month on our pages.

I did 52 comments, I really struggle with them. I intend to say something meaningful every time. I don't want to say great page every time. I just can't find the right words, LOL

I have a spreadsheet of words to help me out of a rut when I am commenting. Instead of saying nice, I can say eye-catching, pleasing, charming, artistic, heart-warming, inventive, etc. Instead of saying page, I can say composition, creation, design, layout, work of art, etc. Instead of saying cluster, I can say flow, formation, grouping, bits and bobs, bouquet, etc. I also have a few things on how it made me feel "I am enchanted by," "This touched me," etc. They aren't pre-designed comments to cut and paste, they are words to inspire me when I am feeling stale and to make my comments more interesting to read.

It must be particularly difficult for you since English is your second language. I can only imagine!!

Thanks Lynnie, that is helpfull! I think I will make that spreadsheet too. I hope you don’t mind borrowing your alternatives!

Great list of words Lynnie, I will be making up a list myself as I am not really a word(ie) person. I am pleased that I was able to complete 31 challenges but just under the wire. I pledged to myself to do at least 10 comments a day and ended up with 376 comments. There were so many outstanding layouts that I found it easy and I had fun doing it.

I am shifitng from scrapping in preparation of my trip, (14 more sleeps) so if I am AWOL, you will know why. I have so many things to do which also include looking after things at home for my hubby who will be holding down the fort. We are working on alot of house stuff so we can hopefully be ready to sell in the summer.

Off to do a deep clean of my kitchen...have a great day everyone.

I was raised by a journalist and she taught me that too, Lynnie! Always keep a words list to keep from repeating yourself. Comments are supposed to be special. I do the descriptions for several designers so I have a list of synonyms for all sorts of words. You can't imagine how tiresome it is to come up with a new way to describe "beautiful papers" or "numerous embellishments"!!! OMG! HAHAHA!

Well, if you need some help with those spreadsheets :) Just remember that you can't create a comment using "one from each column!" They need to really apply to the page:

I also have some 'trigger comments' that help me if I am stuck....For example, art journaling is hard to comment on.

Art journaling is such a satisfying way to express emotion. This one made me laugh out loud. Your journaling, your title and the amusing elements make me smile and the colours all seem to help express the frustration you are feeling. What better way to express yourself than in an art journal.

If I look at this, then look at a page, it helps me look at the page differently.

The other thing I try to do is avoid saying "I Love" or "I like the way."

Use "I am struck by," "I am enchanted by" or use one of the words in the 'made me feel' column.

Or start with comments on the page itself, like "This composition is so striking."

I hope this helps! I want to be clear that when I make comments they are genuinely thoughtful comments on the page, and not 'pick one from each column.' These are just helpers to make sure my comments don't get stale. I love commenting on pages. I used to be a sugar cookie, but needed a break :)

Lynnie, I think you could teach a class on how to leave meaningful comments! I know I just learned a few things by reading your posts. Thank you for sharing your system and some of your words.

In my industry, we very much help each other. We don't call it plaigerism. Instead, we call it "Admire and Acquire" and everything is given freely and with permission. So thank you for the "Admire and Acquire!" :)

My pleasure, Shana. If there is anything I can do to bless the gallery with our comments, I am all about it :)

Folks,
Is it me, or can we not see the April Buffet yet in the store?

Good afternoon ladies. I've been busy with photo outings and getting things ready for the trip. Every time I think I'm close to being prepared, I think of something else. Good thing I start getting ready early. We leave in less than 2 wks and will be gone for 3 wks.

I'm going to go shopping and take advantage of the sale.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get some scrapping done. I can't believe it's dinner time, I've been upstairs all day, sorting thru stuff and packing and trying to book our airplane seats. Tomorrow I'll be on the phone with the travel agent to clarify some things.

We'll watch the last 3 episodes of Mayfair Witches tonight.

Chat later...bfn

We lived in Fort Smith, Arkansas for 3 years and that was tornado alley back then. Thought that moving back to Tennessee would be less eventful, but in the 25+ years we've seen several tornados, the worst being in 1998 when it hit downtown. Shattered glass rained down from the tall buildings. That was so scary. The worst was south of us, but had many friends in its path.

I'm really enjoying being back in the swing of scrapping. I just saw a memory pop up on Facebook that I made the DSP Digital Elite Team 10 years ago...wow, it doesn't seem that long ago. But I'm relearning all the things and enjoying the challenges immensely.

In card-making, we call it CASE (copy and "steal" everything) but we use "steal" affectionately, like scraplift.

Lynnie, your list is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

I have been thinking of starting Mayfair Witches! Is it good?

Congrats Lynnie!

Julia - we loved it. I read Anne Rice books when I was young but not this series, so didn't know the storyline, which kept me guessing right up until the end as to the outcome.

Julie, it is lovely to see you in our group! Hopefully you will stick around and chatter! Let us know how you like Mayfair Witches.

I've never heard of the Mayfair Witches, but I also read a lot of Anne Rice when I was younger. I'll have to look that up.

We've been watching a lot of K-dramas as they tend to be much more light hearted than American shows. But we also have been watching the Mandalorian, Ted Lasso, and Picard. When Randy isn't around, I'll watch some HGTV (not his cup of tea). In June, we will watch the new Nick Fury / Avengers show when it starts up (I don't remember the name of the series).

Kent and I watch a lot of NatGO Wild and the food Network. Tuesday nights are "The Curse of Oak Island" nights for me on the History Channel. Other than that, I do not watch a lot of TV. I will sit in the living room with him while he is watching something, but I am usually either knitting or crocheting.

Shana - we watch Mandalorian each week, usually the day after it comes out. I'll watch for the Avengers show when it starts up. I'm behind on ST Picard but will probably catch up this wkend. We watch a lot of sci-fi/action hero type of shows.

Carla - my hubs also watches Curse of Oak Island. I call it (jokingly) crappy oak, teasing him that it is a boring show, not my cup of tea.

I actually did a page about a funny story of my husband and Oak Island. The journaling reads:
Christmas 2018 for a time, talent and treasure gift, I gave my beloved husband a certificate offering to watch one episode of Oak Island without complaining. The time came, but the episode was a special and was quite interesting, so I said there was no need to redeem the certificate. The next week came and I watched an episode without complaint and Rand ‘could not find’ the certificate. Yet one more week came and he demanded his episode - I pointed out that I had already given it to him, and he pointed out that he still had a certificate, so how could I have redeemed it. This time I made sure to get the certificate, tore it in half and tossed it in the rubbish. The next week came along and he demanded his episode. When I said he had already redeemed it, he pointed to the certificate in his pocket and said he had another and he would give it to me after the episode. After all, I might complain. So I watched one more. When I got the certificate, it was carefully taped together. I have learned my lesson. That husband of mine is a wily character and cannot be trusted.

I don't even know what Oak Island is!! But we're watching Mandalorian and a really creepy Amazon Prime series called The Consultant. (My son picked that one, hubs refuses to watch it after the first episode.) I always want to know, what happens next...

I need to wait until all episodes of something are out, to watch or I forget.

I followed Oak Island mystery when it was something just written about. the show has destroyed it for me, but do I watch.... oh course

My husband comes in and says "They've made a breakthrough!!" and I answer "Again????"
