Sylfie, I'm so sorry for your and your family's loss. Losing a child just isn't right. We lost our son when he was 19 years old. That's a grief that never completely goes away. Hard to imagine that he would now be in his 30s and what sort of life and family he would have had. But we are grateful for the time we had with him and the joy he brought to those around him.

It's been a busy and cold week here. Yesterday, my office volunteered at a place that helps those (kids and adults both) with disabilities. Some of my coworkers played games/did puzzles with the adult clients. I decided to help clear their walking trail. Myself and one other person were tasked to clear all of the raised garden beds (about a dozen of them), cut down fallen branches from the storm we'd had on Monday, haul a pile of rebar and bricks, and help tidy up the area before winter so it will be ready to be replanted in the spring. We worked our tails off and got everything done even though there were only two of us. At the end, I looked like I had rolled around in the dirt (my coworker was spotless, despite working hard, as well). Thank goodness I had thought ahead to bring a change of clothes AND a bottle of Tylenol. LOL!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Wednesday to all. I've been a bit more remiss than usual. This time something else happened.

Saturday Bill and I were going to Grandson's baseball game. We had to park a ways away...load the wagon etc, drag all the 'stuff' to the ball field. We were there about 7 hours and when leaving I went to look for my "clear" glasses [the g'kiddo's call them my house glasses] as sunglasses not needed. I couldn't find them in the glasses case OR the baseball bag.
I was frantic!!!

Bill says- Oh... I wonder if they fell out when the wagon hit a bump and the bag fell off! Meanwhile... the car location is close to a 1/4 mile moved from where it originally was and who knows where they fell off. I will go look.
What are the chances of a pair of glasses being found in tact when probably + 800 cars have been coming and going around an open field for a lot of hours. [none].

My glasses are a difficult and expensive RX. Albeit they are 9 years old, they work and the Rx is fine. MY older glasses of probably 15+ years, not so good. I can see some close up with them but nothing distance. I would not trust them to drive.
I am to have cataract surgery whenever it can get scheduled but first have to be cleared by the cardiologist.

So in the meantime, I'm awaiting clearance from cardiology and a schedule for eye surgery. Not sure IF I purchase new glasses or tough it out if only a short time line.
Upset- is putting things mildly.
m

Oh Michi... that does NOT sound like a fun adventure. I rely on my glasses for EVERYTHING!

We took family photos in a sunflower field last month and my hubby put his prescription sunglasses in his back pocket... and then realized they fell out!!!! We went BACK to the field and tried to remember where we were (the field is huge and there were tons of other people taking photos, as well). Fate was kind to my hubby that day and smiled down on him... and he FOUND them... and they were unharmed. I couldn't believe it.

Good morning ladies. Talking about glasses...my daughter dropped her expensive RX sunglasses at the dog park recently and never found them. I'm sure one of the dogs had a good time chomping on them and they ended up in the bushes somewhere. I have spare glasses in case of damage/loss but have been lucky so far.

The weather is changing here quickly. Fall was pretty here but the high wind started last night and the leaves will fall quickly now. Bits of snow starts next week. I'm excited to see snow this winter. When we lived in the Vancouver area we didn't often see snow and when we did it was a slushy mess. Here the snow will be dry and powdery. The dogs are going to love it.

I took a lot of fall photos so need to get scrapping :)

My granddaughter was Baptized yesterday and today is her 7th birthday! I'm sure photos and pages in the near future.

Still no word back from the cardiologist or the Eye Doctor...

I had a busy day yesterday... I was at my office by 5 a.m. so I could call the group sales office to purchase airline tickets for my summer program. Yesterday was the day they opened the summer sales, so I knew I had to get the queue as soon as they opened so I could grab the number of tickets I needed on my first choice of flights. I was on hold for six and a half hours, but I got the tickets! (Back in 2019, I was on hold for 9 hours... still my personal record... oy vey).

Last night, hubby and I met some friends for dinner that we see about 2-3 times a year. Just as we were finishing, the restaurant and all surrounding businesses lost power. Apparently, a semi truck took down a power pole at a major intersection and caused a pretty significant outage. We had already paid, so we went ahead and headed home. Because of the accident, traffic was backed up quite a bit. We were able to see the traffic from the parking lot, so we took an alternate way home. I was ever so grateful to just fall into bed.

Wow- Shana- that was some experience not just at dinner with getting the tickets as well.

Today was Crochet/Knit group at church. I always enjoy the get together with the ladies. I turned in a finished crochet wheelchair wrap. It's red and reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood. It will be gifted to a lady at an assisted living facility.

No call back yet from the Ophthalmologist Office to schedule Cataract Surgery. At least the Cardiologist cleared me.

Happy Friday and Enjoy the weekend.
m

Update: Eye surgery appointments are scheduled. Nov. 22 and Dec. 6. Looking forward to it, yet nervous.

How did everyone's weekends go? How's your week ahead looking?

Besides our usual shopping, we got donuts for breakfast. They made me a little sick to my stomach until I ate something else. We also raked leaves and pulled up some of our garden- the tomato plants were dead but we found many green ones still. We're going to try fried green tomatoes. :)

This Thursday, we're going to Arizona to visit my father-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law. We plan to be there a few days just seeing local sights and visiting. It'll be a nice break from cold and dreary here.

Speaking of glasses... A few years ago we went to an indoor water park. One of the first "rides" we went on was the lazy river. My husband realized as he was getting off that he lost his glasses. We looked for them for a while and even went to lost and found. My husband has thick glasses and can barely see without them. He did have an "old" spare in the car but it wasn't a current prescription. This made for a very uncomfortable vacation. A few hours later we went on the lazy river again. A life guard stopped me and asked me if I could get the glasses by my feet. Lo and behold several hours later the glasses were found in the same area where they were lost. My whole family knows we check there after they were lost. Miracles do happen!

Had a terrible cough since last Thursday. Couldn't get a doctors appointment. The first one they had was for this Wednesday! Geesh! I got the flu shot and Covid Booster the Friday prior. Don't know if it has any relevance to what I'm experiencing or not.

Well... so much has happened since I last popped in here! Congratulations/condolences where needed.

October has been busy for us. Unusually busy! We managed to get Adam out to Kangaroo Creek Farm and he had a blast! A turkey tried to untie his shoe and he couldn't decide whether he should be happy or scared. The farm is very well-laid-out, with lots of room for the animals to move around and it's all interactive. It was unseasonably warm for early October, even for here, 26C. The capybaras were pretty happy to have a pool to cool off in. Our daughter and her husband came with us and enjoyed the day too.

For Thanksgiving we invited Darci and Justin for dinner. His dad and step-mom-to-be were here from New Brunswick so we were able to meet them. And feed them! I set up a blind tasting of 4 local rosé wines and not surprisingly the one everybody liked best was this year's National Wine Awards of Canada gold medalist. I didn't tell anybody I had another bottle. hehe

The following weekend my brother, sister and Mom came down from Kamloops for the day. We hadn't been together since the end of May and all of them had COVID in September. I was so worried about my mother; she's 86, has COPD and chronic renal failure already. She was sickest of all of them but seems to have recovered well. Darci and I will make a run up there in December to take them a little bundle of goodies. Fruitcake, cookies, peanut brittle and a tourtière for sure. And of course a bottle or two of wine.

Last Wednesday I got a frantic text from Darci; she was stuck in Kamloops, Justin was at a regimental dinner and their Frenchie puppy was home alone. Now that wouldn't be a big deal except Frankie had surgery a few days prior - she was spayed and had some airway remodeling done so she was in a cone, in a crate and was due for some meds. Best-laid plans... Frankie was only supposed to be alone for an hour or so, but Darci ended up buying the car she went there to test-drive and the financing, insurance and such took a lot longer than expected. So being the Good Mom, I hopped in my car and drove out to their place. Frankie was happy to see me and we had a nice little visit. Good thing I went - there was a head-on collision on the highway just past the halfway point on her way home and she was stuck there for quite awhile.

We're still having warmer-than-usual temps and haven't yet had a killing frost. I'm working on yard clean-up slowly but surely but even light stuff like sweeping off the driveway pushes my heart rate up to 120 and it sits there for hours after. I've been back in the house for 6 hours and it's still 112. I think I'll need another Holter. Yay.

Anyway, I have a tutorial to throw together so I'm going to get to it. I'll check back sooner this time, I promise!

Happy November to all!

WoW- LilyAne- that is amazing on the glasses! Yes on miracles.

Jenny- we were in Kamloops once back in 2007. A stop on the train trip from Calgary to Vancouver. We met a photo friend[from online] and her hubby. The old hotel was quite charming.

Halloween was un-eventful here. We went out to my daughters. Kids had fun. There were very few Trick n treaters at their house this year. Since they moved farther back in the subdivision, fewer kids to walk that far. It's ok with me.

I started granddaughters "fluffy" crochet blanket over yesterday. Too many stitches off.
m

Good afternoon, all.

We had a late night with the Trick-or-Treaters. It was a smaller group this year since it was a school night (about 350 kids instead of the 600-700). The weather was gorgeous and there were some super cute costumes.

I feel like I need to lock myself in my house to get caught up on all my October photos! LOL!

Michi, we talked about your train trip/Kamloops stop! I think you stayed at the Stockmen's Hotel. My sister-in-law Denise was the dining room manager there until shortly before her death in 2008. Who knows, you may have met her in passing. My parents have lived there since 1979.

I had to giggle... I was SUPPOSED to head to my brother's this weekend to take photos of the two nephews who are seniors this year. However, their soccer team made it to sub-state... so the boys cut off their long hair into these mohawk looking styles... ha!!! So I guess we can still take photos with mohawks. Or maybe with hats? LOL! I'm over here just cracking up!

Sadly, the haircuts did not bring them any luck. They lost their game this week so they won't be progressing. But I'm proud of them.

Shana- I totally get how the sport takes over "in real life" these days with kids. Well the haircuts will be a memorable reminder of the day. The team making it that far is a huge accomplishment.

Happy Friday! It will be busy for me- G'kiddo's after school. Posting pages. Crocheting [to catch up on the "frogged"] [means ripped out blanket for my granddaughter], laundry
and trying to sync my new iPHONE to my car media on bluetooth.

Plus baseball this weekend. It's state championships.
m

Shana, that’s crazy that they cut their hair, and sad that they lost. Will you still go take their pictures?

Michi, sounds like you are almost as busy as Lynnie!

I am hanging out with my father-in- law this weekend, in Arizona. In a little while we’ll go to the local high school’s football game and have some cold fun.

It snowed here this week, unusual for it to hold off until November. We didn’t have a single trick or treaters. Which was strange.

‘’Jan you worrying about a high heart rate that I’m envious of, I have Brady very bad and am generally under 40. I hate it. My defibrillator isn’t also a pacemaker, so I’m stuck with it.

Michi, thanks! Next time I'm there I'll drive by and give it a look.

Sherri, I can understand your POV. When I was waiting to have my parathyroid adenoma yeeted, I was having so many PVCs I often had a recorded rate in the 40s. Once it was 38... I mentioned it at the PICU nurses' station one day and the attending only caught the tail end. "WHO HAS A RATE OF 38?? WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY CALL ME?" It was priceless! How long until you need a battery change? Maybe they can switch you out for a pacemaker/defibrillator then. Sitting here with a HR of 120 for HOURS and feeling like it wants to run away is a bit unfun. One good thing is that I think we've hit the sweet spot with my BP meds. I'm finally getting numbers that don't make me cringe!

We were supposed to have some snow flurries Thursday night and Friday. Instead we got about a foot of heavy, wet snow. It wasn't cold, sitting right around freezing, and at one point the flakes were the size of silver dollars. The orchards are still green and I worry that this will be really bad for them. Quite a few trees still have apples on them. And I just got a notification on my phone that there's another front building in the Pacific that could come as far north as the Okanagan, so we might be slammed with another foot of new snow Sunday into Monday. For reference, the average November snowfall here is 29 cm, just under 12 inches. We've already had that, with 26 days left in the month. I have a feeling we'll be setting some records. As long as we don't have the flooding we had last November... they've just gotten the highway functioning well again...

Happy Tuesday, all! Hope everyone is having a great week!

I made it down to see the nephews this weekend. The weather was a little chilly, but it was really quite nice. I was able to get some senior photos of the two nephews who will be graduating in the spring. They very much humored me, so I did what any good aunt would do and treated them to ice cream afterward. LOL. I got the photos edited and uploaded to Smugmug last night for them to view... we'll see which ones they liked best. We'll do another shoot again as the seasons change. :) And we'll do a full family photo shoot over the Thanksgiving weekend. Fingers crossed that the weather will stay as nice!

Hey ladies! I am back from my trop to AZ. It was unusually cold where we visited- so glad we took our coats and warm things with us. But I had a lot of fun seeing NE AZ and generally having fun with my in-laws. I'm so glad we took that trip!

This weekend we are going away again, but only to Indianapolis. There's a huge high school band competition going on and we're going to soak it all in. Eren is flying out so we will get to spend those few days with them. It will be so nice! :)

I hope y'all are happy, healthy, and getting everything done! I'm off to scrap and do some research before voting today. I know some of the issues, but need to see what else there is before venturing out. Take care!

Shana- neat about the pictures. I hope you will scrap some and share.

Ane- Love band competitions. Our older grandson, was in the band. Son in law marched and did those summer band tours [I forget what they are called].

Life is pretty good this week. Baseball- won on Saturday, lost on Sunday. Granddaughter had a run in with her desk at school as it fell on her nose [nothing is mis-typed here....] ... I picked up from school. Met mommy, went to the ER and 3 stitches later... she'll be fine. I had grandson.
Another tropical mess coming our way...
m

Michi... I'm sure I will make tons of pages with the photos of the boys. Ha! They were such troopers. We walked around the old town area for a couple of miles and picked random spots at backdrops. It was fun and we got a nice variety of pics.

Last night, the weather was dark and misty (perfect setting for a scary movie or a mystery book). I went for a walk, got home, started the laundry, and got comfy in my pjs... then hubby reminded me that we had haircuts last night. Whoops! We were only five minutes late. So glad he was on top of things because I was already settled in for the night.

We are flying out to Washington, D.C., this weekend. I have meetings all next week, but we will see friends and family on Saturday and Sunday and do some touristy things. So looking forward to that.

Have a great day, everyone! :)

Well, I am off on my second trip in 2 weeks, lol! I hope everyone has an awesome weekend, and I'll catch up with y'all on Sunday evening. :)

Just thought I would let you know how much I wish the best in the adventures you are having and feel for your sorrows. We are doing good. My children have gone home except for my son's family that lives next door. With family gone I have been able to get caught up on my scrapbook journaling while my husband is either sleeping or watching TV. For the most part life is wonderful being able to spend time together. Six of my seven children will be here for Thanksgiving. My one daughter just left about a week ago and said she will be coming back in January to help. I hope each of you have a great end to this year.

Katherine, I am in awe of the number of scrap pages you do each month and the detailed journalling you include on each one. All that whilst taking devoted care of your ill husband. You are amazing. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

Does anyone know anything about Lynnie? She hasnt been on site for almost a month and hasnt replied to my PM from two weeks ago. I hope she is OK.

Katherine- How awesome that your children are with you and such a wonderful close family. I love reading the journaling you place on your page.

Jill- I've not heard anything about Lynnie either.

Happy Friday to all and grateful for our Veterans! We have a family full of them. No problems for us with hurricane/tropical storm Nicole and very grateful. Although we had more wind and rain than we did from Ian. My heart to those affected on the east coast of Florida and too all getting the deluge to come.
Going to pick up the g'kiddo's soon.l
Baseball again this weekend if the fields dried out.
m

Just popping in to say hi... Not much happening here. Will be going to my youngest son's house for Thanksgiving. Looking forward to seeing them all.
I hope Lynnie is well... She is always so busy. I hope she pops in soon to let us know how she is. That's a long time for her not to pop in. Will be praying for her and that all is well.
Trying to stay busy here. I get so down in the dumps during the holidays. They aren't the same anymore. Christmas really gets me down, my youngest daughter loved Christmas & it's not the same without her here with us. We were so close and loved doing the same things together and I miss that. But I will get through the season, but ready for it to be over. And I have so much more pain when it's so cold these days so ready for Spring...
Scrapping helps me get through it all. So I do that as often as I can. The grandkids have been so busy so haven't had as much time with them lately... most of the time it's on social media and video chat, which just isn't the same.
Will stop by soon hope Lynnie is back soon... Every one have a great weekend.
