Journaling: Ocarina is a unique wind musical instrument belonging to the family of fipple flutes with rich history and a distinctive sound: soft and warm, resembling a flute or whistle but with a more muted tone. Early versions of the ocarina appeared in ancient cultures of the Americas, China, and Europe. The modern version was developed in the 19th century by Italian musician Giuseppe Donati. The ocarina is popular among musicians and hobbyists alike. It is used in folk, classical, and even video game music—most notably gaining fame through *The Legend of Zelda* series.
