Lyudmila Gurchenko (1935–2011) was a Soviet actress, singer, and entertainer, widely regarded as one of the most iconic and versatile performers in Soviet cinema. She starred in over 130 films and TV projects. Known for her exceptional talent in acting, singing, and dancing, Gurchenko remained a major cultural figure throughout her life. Lyudmila Gurchenko was born in Kharkiv. She spent her childhood there and always remembered Kharkiv with warmth.
Today, places associated with her life still exist in Kharkiv, and she remains one of the city’s most famous natives.
The monument to Lyudmila Gurchenko was erected in Kharkiv in 2016. It is located not far from the house where the famous actress was born. This monument has become a symbol of recognition of her contribution to culture and art, as well as a tribute to the memory of the great actress, whose roots are connected with Kharkiv.
