I’ve been finding it hard to scrap this month too.. It’s depressing with how much is closed. I know there’s good reason for it but I’m one that goes stir crazy when I try to stay in the house too long. This morning we cleaned out the pantry after Dad and I went shopping. He never goes to the store so that was an experience... like a kid in a candy store! Now he is deep cleaning the other closets. Gee I don’t know why I have problems staying inside...

I went to work this afternoon, I was met by the main manager. He told me they had been asked to give advice to the workers. Anyone with heart problems, lung problems, pregnant or over 60, it was highly recommended they go home. We would be paid for today and Monday. At that time we will be told if they will stay open or close. I work for the Deseret Industries and was disappointed to go home. I was told I could stay but they recommended I go home. I do know it is more important to protect myself and more important my husband. We are both in the high risk group being 70 and 79. It will give me more time to scrap. I want to start working more on my mother's history book.

I guess I will jump on the Survivor bandwagon! :D I've not much else to do while child is out of school. I just have to hope kitty will stay off my lap long enough, LOL!

Well, I suppose if they'll pay you Katherine, it's better to be safe!
I don't know if it's quite hysteria here yet, but I haven't gone out to the stores. Thankfully we have just about everything we need, even to get us by for a couple weeks, if needed. So far, our schools are just closed to visitors.
Today is hubby's birthday so we'll be going out to dinner somewhere. Most of our restaurants are still open.

Okay so I have a question about the whole alliance thing for survivor. I'm noticing some people are signing up for more than one alliance. When you sign up for an alliance what are you agreeing to do? Should I just stick with one or are there advantages to being in more than one... Thanks for your input! (I want to enjoy the experience and not get over my head!)

Like I said, I haven't posted here before, but I'd love to get to know some others around GS better.
I've been having a really tough time scrapping lately. I completely my 10 challenges last month, but it was the first time in months that I have. I just don't have any idea where my mojo has gone. I collect the challenges every month, with all good intentions, but I just don't get them done. I look at my pictures and the ideas don't come to me. The sky has been so gloomy here and now with this virus thing taking over EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE...
I'm from Lakeville, MN. Been scrapping forever, rock, paper, scissors era. Then photo albums with clever journaling, Stampin' Up, Creative Memories and finally digi in about 2008 and never looked back. I love the versatility. Went to PSE about three years ago. Love it. I CT for several designers, but mostly behind-the-scenes, manager, promo stuff. Married, 38 years, two daughters, three grands, still working full-time for the local school district. That's me.
I'll try to go back now and get to know some more of you.

Welcome "Minicooper"...glad you are joining us here. I have been there before and find that looking though galleries, Pinterst and using templates helps me with a slump. Maybe also take a look at your paper albums, hope to see your gallery full soon!

I signed up for my first survivor and am really looking forward to it. I love doing all the challenges every month. I started digitally scrapbooking around August of last year. About the same time I joined GingerScraps. I do digital on my computer and Project Life on my iPad.

I live in Pennsylvania and have been married for 36 years. I have two grown children. My daughter is married and lives in New Jersey. No children yet, but they do have a wonderful English Bulldog named Reuben. I’m totally dotty for my granddog. I’ve made quite a few layouts of him. My son lives in Jamaica right now, but is due to move back to the states next month. It will be nice to have him living in the same country. He’s lived in the Caribbean for almost the last ten years.

I’m an avid photographer (not professional) and I love to take pictures of animals. I love closeup and macro photography best. Yes, lots and lots of insects lol. I’m Canadian and I detest snow and cold weather. Probably a sin for a Canadian, but what can I say lol. I’m also into genealogy, scrapbooking, mixed media, reading, organization, etc. We have two cats Cleo and Hunter and I scrap them too.

The schools here have closed for the next ten days. They are prepping the schools to hopefully stop the virus from spreading. Wipes, toilet paper and bread are flying off the shelves. You can’t find the first two in any stores around here. Concerts are being cancelled left and right. Professional sports have cancelled the season. My son says there has only been one case of the virus in Jamaica. Even though I’m thrilled he is moving back to the states the timing couldn’t be worse with the Corona Virus spreading.

Good morning, ladies. It's been a fun but busy wkend. Tried twice to get TP at the local stores but no luck. Luckily we have a bit of extra b/c it looks like it is going to be next to impossible to get any right now. I was shocked at how bare the shelves are getting at the store. We can't even get into the Costco parking lot, its overflowing with people running, shoving, grabbing everything. Its like a bad movie. So....to clear my head and sort of reset my brain, I went out to the bird sanctuary yesterday morning. I was the first person to go thru the gates and wondered if people would stay away. They didn't, they trickled in throughout the morning and by lunchtime the parking lot was full (like it normally would be). I think a lot people were like me, the sun was shining, they needed to get out and just enjoy nature and walk around. Everyone did seem to be more diligent about hygiene, no one coughed without covering their face, I saw lots of people stop and wash hands with sanitizer and in the washroom there were people waiting for their turn at the sinks as people were spending a little extra time washing. Good to see all that. So it was a glorious morning walk, I took over 500 photos and can't wait to scrap some of them. I need to look thru photos today and tomorrow to enter into a provincial wildlife photo contest before I miss the deadline. Spent last night binge watching the Lincoln Rhymes TV show...we both really like it. This morning I'm editing and doing desk work. This afternoon we'll be with Bailey and then home for dinner and a bit of TV time with hubs. We'll pop into the store on the way back from visiting this afternoon in the off chance we'll get lucky and hit a store that hopefully have just stocked TP. Otherwise I'll be going out just before closing each night and again at 6 or 7 am. So, crazy times for sure.

Signed up for Survivor, joined the Wafflers Alliance (thx Lynnie for organizing this) and can't wait for the fun to start.

Sherri - I'll have to take a few pics of my garden spots soon and do a page about where I sit. Good idea...thx. For your blinkie, put it in a hosting site (I use smugmug so not sure what you would use). Copy the code and go into settings>signature and paste in your code. Make sure
is at the end of it. You can also do this by opening the image icon and pasting the code into that. I do it manually just by habit but either way works. If you are in the "go advanced" editing you can highlight it and select the centering tab but that's optional. Hope this answers your question.

It is just fun support for each other. It is nice when you comment on the layouts for the people in your alliance or alliances. You can belong to as many as you want. When you vote for 5, again, it is nice when you vote for someone in your alliance, but you don't have to. It is wonderful to encourage each other, remind each other, inspire each other. Alliances are supposed to be fun and not cut throat as they are in the real survivor world.

Good evening everyone, I hope that you're all doing okay. I have had a rough week, and things are looking to be worse before they improve.

We left Italy for Spain on March 7th, and were due to fly back today... in the end, my dogsittre fled the country, my emergency contact took over feeding and we rebooked to fly back to Switzerland directly Friday the 13th, and it ended up being delayed 5 hours. We drove 4 hours and arrived at midnight. Now I am trying to send my Australian house guest home, but obviously Italian airports are closed, and her travel agent moved her to Germany- it's a long way, but it's possible. Except they've now also closed the borders.

Work says everyone must work from home, so I'll need to get a few things from the office tomorrow as I try to sort her out, and get the last few things from the shops. Wuff. No time for scrapping at all. :(

Just a reminder, I will be running a Wafflers' Alliance again this time. Let me know if you are interested in participating :)

You can sign up here

If you are and want to use the siggie, you can find it here:

https://www.silers-alley.com/GingerscrapsAvatarsSiggies/SiggieSurvivor10WafflersAlliance.zip.

If you want to sign up, please sign up quickly. I can't manage more than about 20 people in the alliance. It is a lot of work to keep track of everyone and comment on layouts, etc. I also keep a post of all the layouts to make it easy for the Wafflers to comment and to choose their favourite 5. I will probably make a few exceptions for people who post regularly if they don't make it in time, but I would hate to turn anyone away.

Oh Sylfie, you are right in the middle of it, aren't you! I hope you have lots of supplies. Please stay inside (AND SCRAP!)

Oh yes I am, Lynnie. I went yesterday and got a solid supply of flour, eggs, beans, sugar, coffee, powdered milk and long-term milk, and apples which will last longer because it's still cold here (it felt like I was packing for an Oregon Trail game...). I have to get some little things tomorrow that I didn't know were missing when I first went to the store, but hopefully bar bringing her to the airport (and staying in the car!) that'll be the last time I leave the house for two weeks. The state has decided Friday will be a holiday in addition to Thursday, so I will hopefully have time to get some scrapping done.

The three unworried days spent in Spain were lovely, at least...

Yes, Sylfie, but Spain is on lockdown now, I think, so it is good you came home. From what I understand, Spain ordered all of its citizens to stay in their homes unless they absolutely have to leave to go to work, buy food, seek medical care, or help out elderly or otherwise vulnerable people in need of assistance. All bars, restaurants, and schools were ordered to close.

Yes, my friend with whom we were staying has moved her family to the mountain house and they aren't going out at all. It went from 'everything as usual' to 'severe shutdown' within the space of 48 hours. We are fortunate that we were able to get home to my poor Yorkies. Now I just need to worry about getting my Australian back home, too.

Alberta education just announced school classes are closed. Most likely till September. My kids are in grades 11 & 12 so it really affects them. It’s fluid so we will see.

Intereing twist to survivor this year with cumulative vites deciding it all. So glad no eliminations

Hi all,
Home from the baseball tournament weekend. We had a nice time with wonderful people. Although so much is 'closed' in Florida right now, the tournament went on, as the park was run by the city of Plant City, Florida. Not any state or county park. They did have strict rules of: NO handshaking or fist bumps. The kiddos waved from their dugouts. The coaches did hand sanitizer each inning change for themselves and the kids. Although a fun weekend...'our' boys lost 3 of 4 games...and they are pretty good! The travel ball tournament circuit was new to them and definitely a learning experience. Our kiddo's played in 8 and under. Ours are 6 and 7 and played against some of the BIGGEST 8 year olds I've ever seen in my life!!! It's ok, they learned and had fun.

Ane- for sure on the toilet paper hoarding! My word...I don't get it!
LilyAne and Elynnia- Our schools are closed for spring break plus one week...thus far. Our grandson's teacher has already emailed assignments.

Karen- Crossing fingers for your son's Japan trip...

Lynnie- I agree with the TP. We too had a package from Sam's club prior to all this occurring.

Dorann- Yes, the trip cancellation stinks... Grandson [age 15] in Maryland is canceled his to Boston April 24!

Sylfie...Oh dear on your experience with travel!

AND...last but not least at the moment...
I'm signed up for Survivor and will be joining our alliance after posting here.

Stay safe all!

Sylfie, I'm praying for your entire country! I have a dear friend from Italy. She lives in MN now and she's so desperately worried about her family, still there.

People are going NUTZ!!!

Spoke too soon about schools here in MN! They closed everything to students effective Wed, but Lakeville closed today. Staff still has to report this week, so I'm working, for now. They've just closed restaurants/bars for in-dining service, take-out only. I feel so terrible for the servers. They've expedited unemployment, but that doesn't include tips. I'm just waiting for the state-wide, stay in place. I just feel it coming. Not that I think it's wrong, it's just so way out of the realm. We'll be fine. I'm worried about my mom. We just moved her into an assisted living apartment in January and she doesn't know many people there yet except those she eats with. Well, what have they done?!? Quarantined them to eating IN THEIR APARTMENTS! So, if they're on a meal plan, they'll bring their meals to them, but no more socialization of any kind! I was in tears when I heard that. She was just miserable having to leave her home and now this. And, of course, none of us can visit. My brother never got around to teaching her how to video chat. I might have to try to talk her through it so she can see some familiar faces over the next couple weeks.

Okay....... somebody talk me down. I'm okay now.

Michi, no such luck, he canclelled this past weekend and was given a credit for his plane ticket. Still hoping he will get a refund as he is going back to scholl for 2 years and might not be able to use it within the time limit of expiry.

Still crazy here...loads of closures.

Carla, so sorry to hear about your mom. Calling her and walking her through the video might work. It is so hard on the "older" people going thru this. They don't want anyone over 60 to go out. Stores are opening for that age group from 6:30 to 7:30 am so they are not around other people.
It amazes me at how social people really are when they take away what we usually do. We as a population are more social than I thought.

Molly just found out earlier that her college will not be going back to school this semester. The rest of the semester will be on line or virtual.

Why are people so mean. You know with all of the mass hysteria that is going on right now I worked today for what might be the last day for quite some time. Well, the other day I was trying to start stocking up on some of the things that we will need, which includes gas for our generator. Just now it stopped and Tom came in and told me that he seems to be missing a can of gas.

We have this freeloader that has been staying here. He was supposed to be paying half the rent but has never given us a dime and I have suspected for some time that he has been taking gas out of the car. And now there is a missing 5 gallon can of gas and mysteriously he's been driving around in his truck. Hmm, I wonder where that gas came from. The landlord is supposed to be getting him out of here but with the state of the world right now we've yet to see him. I just don't understand why some people think it is okay to take from other people. Prior to this week I would have said that it wasn't that hard to find a job and yet this guy doesn't. Annoying to say the least.

Sorry about the vent but I just had to get it out because there is definitely more room out than in.

Carla, my mum loves video chat. It was not hard to talk her through it. It is amazing how much better it feels to be able to video chat with others. If not, I would bet one of the youngsters at the assisted living place would be able to help.

Today the county where I live issued a shelter in place order. All schools are closed, all non-essential businesses and organizations. They are allowing take out as long as people can pick up maintaining a 6ft social distancing. Not sure quite how that would work - providing take out paid on line via shovel? It boggles the imagination. We are hunkered down, lots of food, enough TP and following all requirements. Our church is streaming online.

I have all the digital scrapping supplies I need to scrap my 'art' out.

Six more work days until I retire.

Thanks all. I have to figure out messenger chat on my kindle first so that I can teach her. OF COURSE, her laptop just quit! smh... But, we call daily and she sounds okay. AND, fortunately we have a dear friend who works in the memory-care unit who might be able to go upstairs and help walk her through it too.
Again, spoke a day too soon. They're calling school for all as of 6pm tonight. Closing all buildings for all so I'll be working from home, should it come to that, after spring break.
Good luck to Molly, LilyAnn. I'm sure she'll do great! I feel terrible for those graduating seniors who may be losing out on ceremonies.
Can't imagine a shelter in place Lynnie! I know it may come to that. HECK! MOA is closed! NEVER thought that would happen either. What county are you in?
Good luck everyone. PRAYERS FOR OUR WORLD!

WoW WoW WoW!!! Unbelievable how things have escalated. I so feel for the elderly in assisted living and those with underlying health concerns that cannot get out. Son in law's dad is in assisted living- with 2 forms of 'C', and hospice...no visitors allowed!

Even though I'm 67, I am ok, and can still shop for needs and am assisting a friend my age with many major health issues who can't get out.

Most everything here is closed down, except the beaches on the west coast of Florida. Restaurants are doing drive thru or pick up. Some have opened inside dining with fewer tables.

Schools in Florida closed until April 15 with no standardized testing. Parental options to repeat the grade. Now my 40 year teaching experience opinion says...carry on where it left off. Everyone is in the same boat...the gap will gradually close. Then move on. Adjust the curriculum to fit.

We walked outside both yesterday and today. It felt good. It's a beautiful day today.
We still have much to be grateful for.

Hang in there everyone.

Good morning ladies. I've not been online a lot this wk. I needed time to sort thru in my head which is happening in the world. I've been out every day trying to get some groceries but having very little luck. There's been no beef anywhere for days, TP is almost impossible to get, it sells out in just minutes, I finally got two packs from a compassionate worker who knew I'd been coming constantly with no luck, she had a few packs in the back room and brought them out to me. I managed to get dog and bird food as our stores are closing. Pretty much everything is closed except grocery stores. I work at home for 2 GPs and they are closing the office tomorrow. They will work remotely from their home, telehealth online chats with any cardiac patients that need it. That will impact my paycheque for sure so hopefully our savings last thru this crazy time. My hubs came home yesterday, he is now off work indefinitely and since he works mostly on commission, his paycheque will be greatly reduced. Hope we can get thru this time ok. Its so scary. We have lots of bills, a mortgage, etc so have to pray that somehow we make it.

Got to cut this short. My daughter just called and got 2 packs of hamburger. It sold out in 5 minutes. Gotta go pick it up from her. Back later. bfn

There is something awesome about FaceTime when things are tough. We do it all the time with the kids so we can talk to the grandchildren, etc. in England. My daughter, too, when she was traveling.

Turns out that our Health Agency sent out a badly worded order. It is pretty close to a shelter in place and we are observing that, but they are saying it is not quite as strict. They are issuing an amended order today.

Maybe when this is all done we can promote some really fabulous and unique graduation events for the seniors. It will be a story they will remember forever. The question is - will they have enough credits to graduate if the school year does not complete? I hope so. THEN - have all the visits to colleges completed? Have they chosen their college or is that in question also.

I am in Orange County, California.

I have to say I am a little concerned about the nutcases on the Florida beaches who are still partying! Don't they understand social distancing.

Very good call on the gap closing. I agree, it would. It might be a little more difficult for the higher grades, but for pity's sake, do they really need to repeat the grade? Design an escalated program for the beginning of the next year if necessary, but it seem so unfair to make an entire generation of kids repeat a grade.

You are in a tough spot. Thank heavens for your daughter. I wish you were close enough, I would share my freezer. I did not prepare for this at all, but just tumbled into a situation where I have a lot of the stuff we need to shelter in place. Plus I am in the midst of transitioning from being employed to retiring, so we have income in place. I am a little miffed at the stock market. I was planning on liquidating funds to pay off some debt. I am going to have to struggle with that for a bit, but I can survive and I am so fortunate. We just ended up in a place where we are financially okay.

Good evening ladies.

I finally got my Australian guest sent on to Zurich after a lot of difficulties in doing so, and she's currently between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne.

We're currently on high-alert at work, and while tomorrow is supposed to be a holiday... I don't know that I will have it off? I don't have any specific tasks to do, but I may get called on to do things. It is all up in the air.

I am glad I live up on the mountain and have a garden to keep me sane.

Child and I are holed up at home, but we've been out for one reason or another every day, using proper social distancing of course. It's so weird- you can see the fear in peoples' eyes. I am not afraid though. Like Lynnie, we had a lot of food and other essentials in place before the madness started. We are very blessed. We haven't started any kind of schooling stuff, mostly because the high school has put out very little guidance on it. They said they will on Monday though, and I intend to make the child do it before any Pokemon, TV, etc. I should be doing it now, but I don't have the heart, I guess.
