It’s been brutally cold here, warmed up a little for a couple days then the wind and cold came back. Taking my daughter to see a concert tomorrow (tonight) in Edmonton, Little Big Town. It’s her band not mine but we need a fun girls night out. My son goes back to school after ten days off from the Canadian winter games being held here, the ping pong tourney was held in his school. Yes it’s a winter sport. Lol.

Hello Ladies... Hope everyone is staying warm and dry... this weather is crazy... Cold and very windy today... I have to keep my head covered when I go out with the puppies, I get a lot of earaches, always have since I was born, have had surgery on them to many times to count, and cold wind is very bad for them... I am so ready for spring I wish it would get here soon... And dry up some, our yard is so soaked it can't hold anymore rain... My son had to have surgery, but he is home and doing well, but he can't eat much for a couple weeks just soft foods, and he doesn't like it, and he is worse then a 2 year old when he is sick... LOL so making a lot of soups for a couple weeks... wish is fine I love soup and a sandwich, one of my favorite meals when its so cold.... Tomorrow Survivor starts up here, I am looking forward to playing, it will be my first time, so don't expect to make it to far into the game, but I will play along till the end... LOL It sounds like a lot of fun, hope I'm not disappointed... :) wish me luck, and I wish everyone else that's playing good luck also... Later peeps, I'll be back soon... Have a GREAT NIGHT!

It sounds cold! Brutally cold - I can feel it in my bones! I can only imagine. Have a lovely time with your daughter :)

OK - Waffling Alliance.... the competition has started. The first challenge is HERE.

Our alliance currently consists of:
Ane (AJsRandom)
Kelley (Kelley)
Lynnie (FormbyGirl)
Susan (Pachimac)
Alta (Alta2014)
(and anyone else who wants to join.

Our job is to encourage each other! We should also double check each other's layouts to make sure we have not missed any of the rules. We can comment on each other's layouts and do our very best to take our alliance as far along the survivor trail as possible :)

I was debating!! What do you think? I can do it either place, but it might be nice to be with the crowd... but also nice to be with our friends here.

Hi everyone, I would LOVE to join your group here and your Alliance, if you'll have me? I am so excited for this year's Survivor and the theme Cabin Fever sure hits home this year. The weather has been horrible here in central Canada...we even hit the Polar Vortex this year with the coldest weather on record, -55c! I haven't started my LO yet but hope to have it done later today as I am happy to be off work today. Hope to see my name in the Alliance group and good luck to you all on this wonderful journey GS offers us!

DEFINITELY! Sorry it took a day or so, I was busy scrapping and then I did a photoshoot with my husband that took QUITE a lot of time.

Hi Wafflers
Long time between posts for me, my Nan has been unwell in hospital & on pallative care. She celebrated her 104th birthday 2 weeks ago & has severe dementia & a tumor on her ear. So I have been trying to help Dad with her as well as be a Mum & run a business & kids footy season is back so I feel like I am running ragged at the moment.
Scrapping has been my escape & coping mechanism & keeping myself busy.
Its a bit of a rainy day here in Australia but we surely need it, its sunday & hubby has taken the 2 eldest kids to help him install a sign & I am supposed to be cleaning but I have had a throat infection for the first part of the week & then a sinus infection kicking my butt for the rest of the week & I just want to take a break, so going to wash the kids uniforms for school & put my feet up & scrap some more or even go do some crochet, not sure yet
I hope you are all doing well & excited that Survivor is back, hoping I don't have to pull out in week 4 like last year but its been fun to see all the lovely layouts

I have a creativity block going on right now. I am so tired of the cold winter winds, I cannot even get out of the house without aching the cold gets into my muscles it seems. I think cabin fever is a good description for it. I think I will get my labs run on Monday when I am at the doctor though. I have been "jittery" all week. Whereas my beta blocker heart med usually keeps my heart rate between 40-50 bpm, its been spiking throughout the day all week which is being recorded by my fit bit. This is extremely unusal for me. Just weird.

I joined the waffler alliance, but didn't get my page done today.

I am going to try and be more active here from now on.

I am at the start of an online short course in Dementia Care. So far have completed one module on "The Brain" and I found it very interesting and surprised myself with 100% in the test I had to take before I can move onto the next module. I do volunteer work in Aged Care so am interested to learn all I can about this terrible disease.

So I may not get many challenges completed this month and I am too late to join in the fun of Survivor so hopefully next month I will have the time to do lots of challenges.

Anyone that is volunteering in aged care deserves a reward. Having to help in hospital with my Nan these past few months has been really eye opening. I appreciate anyone that takes the time to help the elderly, we have had a few lovely ladies that have helped with nan where others have just turned up for their pay check so to do it voluntarily I congratulate you.

We will provide whatever loving support and care we can here. I know we can't come and sit with her (or you!) and take care of things for you, but we can give you virtual hugs. Sam, I know you are in another alliance, but we will cheer you on anyway and we can add you to our alliance, too, if you want. You can be a part of multiple alliances, but you don't have to be :) You know what I mean.

I am a little concerned about this... are the Aussies staging a coup?

Seriously, at a site Jill and I used to belong to that closed down, we had a forum called "The Granny Thread" and we all became very close. We often met in real life, if we were close enough, and knew all about each other's families and lives. An Ancient Chinese proverb says, “an invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of the time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break.” This was our mantra, the thread that bound us all together. Well, the Digital Scrapbook Place closed down some time ago and many of us found homes here at GingerScraps and I have been trying to recapture our "Red Threads" here in the Waffling forum. I want it to be a place we can come and care about each other's lives and offer encouragement when needed.
