Happy New Year to ALL!
My goals are to get books printed! [which means I'd better finish some pages].
I also completed several sewing goals / projects.

The holidays were lovely and quiet here. On Christmas, our daughter son in law and the g'kiddo's were here.
New Years, just DH and I after an early beverage with friends and home by 6:30...asleep by 9:30.

I scrapped and finished 2019 calendars for both g'kiddo's. They are so excited. David's is Baseball themed. Sarah's- Princess [of couse]. He is 6. She is 3, however she would know brother received something if she did not. It's ok. Both are darling. And all GS products.

New Year's Eve and day were lovely. I really just spent the time sorting out photographs. My son, James, shares all his family pictures every time I go and visit. Sadly, I have received duplicates upon duplicates. As well as receiving multiple copies, he has downloaded from his iPad multiple times, so there are duplicates there, too. Anyway, I set myself on a project to organize them. They were in crazy named folders in not very organized (which surprises me, I always thought that he was a little more organized.) It took about four days of solid work, but I weeded it from almost 50,000 pictures to 15,000 pictures and they are perfectly organized chronologically in years. I also named the folders with the day and event. James was pretty pleased and plans to share the photos I don't have when I go to visit so I can organize those while I am visiting him in April. The big upside of this was that I found thousands of amazing pictures I had not seen before because they were buried in folders.

My goal this year is to keep up month by month with what goes on in my life, and perhaps do last years month as well. That way I can catch up on at least two years worth of events. I love to scrap, but I have not been able to fit it in through the Christmas season. I aim to change that.

My grandson is staying with us at present. He goes back to Arizona on Saturday. I love having him here, although it makes me feel very discombobulated. My study (which is really a converted balcony in my condo!) is his bedroom when he stayed and I can't really access it to put stuff away, so it is quite the mess at present, between my crafting and other things that are just all over the place out there. I love having him there, so it is okay - just makes me crazy.

We got the first scan of the new baby today! YAY!

I saw a calendar page uploaded - it was darling. I do some pages, too, but not with places to write. I might change it up for next year :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

Just finishing up my 2019 calendars - hopefully today, I might put them in the Gallery.

Mom starts in-home therapy today. They finally are calling her house bound, so she gets some extra things from her insurance.

We babysat the grand baby that lives here in Columbia this weekend. I just love doing that! He's so much fun. He just turned 10 months old. He's a handful, but I would keep him everyday if I could.

I'm going to try to do the Project Life challenge this year. 52, not 365. I'm hoping to stay consistent with it. I'm excited to do it.

Have a great week ladies!!

This arrived in my email inbox this morning from a similarly aged "friend". It gave me a chuckle and Lynnie will appreciate the last paragraph remembering the fun we had with "leaks back in our DSP days:)

MY TRAVEL PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Kahoots.
Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Kahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there.
I have made several trips there, thanks to my children, friends, family, and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on
physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenaline flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

I may have been in Continent, but I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing. They tell me it is very wet and damp there.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

That was fun to read, Jill!

We got an answered prayer so, I ordered a sofa set and a beautiful bookshelf with a cabinet below so I could store our board games neatly, since I placed our old one in my daughter's bedroom. She got a lot of books and she finally needs her own bookshelf.

My daughter will have an up coming middle of year assessment next week so we canceled any plans we have for the weekend so I could review her.

I'm still completing my project life 2018 and hopefully I could have it printed before the second quarter.

My sister has a new baby and everyone in the family are really happy, he's so cute and so small I'm excited everyday to look on his pictures sent by my sister :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

I've been out of the scrapping loop all last year because of computer problems, but I finally have my mojo back and am ready to scrap! I'm participating this month in the challenges here, and also at a couple other sites. I find challenges really help me be inspired to create new pages and love doing them.

Aside from scrapping, I've just been doing the same basic things for months lol. Working (I'm a transcriptionist), taxiing my kids to activities and my oldest daughter to work, cleaning, homeschooling, and cooking. And trying my best to get enough sleep which doesn't always happen. My sister just got a new job, and I'm babysitting for her kids at 4:30 a.m. M, W, and F. It's crazy, but plus side is her kids are sleeping at that time and I have a 3-hour excuse to scrap!!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

Jill, you made me laugh out loud! And I am at work... we need a bigger warning!

All,

It has been a busy weekend to say the least. My 90-year-old mother went in for a routine procedure on Thursday and ended up with a major emergency surgery on Thursday night. The doctors said she would probably be in intensive care for a few days to week, then in the general hospital for a few days, then to skilled nursing for at least a week. Four days later, she is home and toddling about. The doctors said her recovery time would have been remarkable for a young person, for a person her age, it was miraculous. The doctors and nurses were all in love with her. I will DEFINITELY be scrapping a layout on this.

It was a wake up call, though. She is a dear and darling woman, but I won' t have her forever. I have spoiled her terribly these last few days since I got her home and stayed with her all the time she was in the hospital (at least as long as they would let me).

At 90, she is still officially employed. Up through Thursday, she was working 30+ hours a week. She is officially on medical leave, but my guess is that she will finally retire :) I thought for a while, I might retire before her.

Back at work now, we have a schedule of people to be with her until nurses say it is okay for her to be alone.

Ruby is a remarkable woman Lynnie, her daughter takes after her:). This must have been a stressful time for all of you. Sending red threads and best wishes for her continued rapid recovery.

Praying all goes well with your mother, Lynnie. I am all too familiar with that right now. You're an amazing person for taking care of her like you are. She sounds amazing as well!

It has been stressful, but I am grateful for the reminder of what an absolutely amazing family I have. My brother and I have always been the best of friends, my children have gone out of their way to spend time with her, my son from England Facetimes frequently. Our cousins in England are constantly requesting updates. I have the most loving and amazing family ever.

Friends are also rallying around, willing to spend time with her whenever we need to have someone with her during the day.

She is the best patient in the world, cheerful and such a trooper. I am so incredibly blessed and this reminds me just how much.

Red threads are MUCH appreciated.

I am so grateful that my mother is so 'with it.' It must be really difficult with a parent who has dementia. I can't even imagine how difficult it is for you taking care of your mum. My FIL had dementia and we had to put him in a home some years back. There was a point where he couldn't recognize any of us and could not understand a word we said. I would just go and visit him and sit with him and sing. That was all I could do... Big hug, Lynn.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

We have 14 inches of snow right and it's still snowing! My daughter is flying in from Haiti tomorrow night and she's completely freaking out, LOL! She told me this morning that she wears a jacket and sweats when it's 70 degrees. I laughed so hard. I can't wait to see her! She's only home for two weeks, but I'll take anything I can get.

How's everyone else doing in the big snow storm?

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

It started snowing about 2:30 pm yesterday and has been either raining or snowing since. Supposed to get some freezing rain too, which unfortunately makes church questionable. I think we got 7 or 8 inches. Certainly made clearing off the cars and shoveling a challenge.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

No snow here :) I, too, wear a jacket in 70 degrees, by 60 I am bundled up inside with hot chocolate, dreading the FREEZING cold outside, haha. We have an old joke with our office in Maryland. One day one of their workers spent 2 hours trying to get to work in a blizzard before he turned around after only getting a few miles. That same day one of our workers called in that he couldn't get to work because of the rain - it was drizzling - not even raining. Every time they have bad weather around our office, we send them emails saying we can't get in because it is 70 degrees and we can't find our jackets, or it is too sunny and blinding our eyes, or it is drizzling and the streets are damp.

I was born and raised in the snow, but not sure I could cope as an adult :)

My mum is doing well, although she has to have another surgery. I am not coping as well. She used to do a lot for a 90 year old and now I have to do it all. She used to do some cooking, all the grocery shopping, her own laundry, her bills, her doc appts, her own medicine - now I have to do it all. So I work, shop, cook, clean, pay the bills, do the laundry all while taking care of her. Lots of people do it and she is worth it all! I just have to adjust a little.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

Lynnie sending prayers for a speedy recovery for your mom, sounds like she off to a great start... glad she is home...

Ladies I hope your all enjoying the snow, we only got about 2 or 3 inches... my granddaughter was very dissapointed she wanted at least a foot.... LOL The dogs loved playing in it... but it was to cold and windy for me to be out there to long... my arthritis doesn't like it one bit....

You all have a wonderful night, I'm heading off to bed, I have to get my granddaughter off to school in the morning... then I'll be back.... nighty night... :)

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

Went to see Driving Miss Daisy last night with Michael Learned and Lance Nichols. The son was played by a local and was extremely good, but it was so exciting to see such wonderful stars playing on our local stage. It was pretty amazing!

Thank you, Jill. It has been a worrying time. She is 90, after all, but she is so resilient. She seems so mortal for the first time and just I can't imagine a world without her. Not so much because she is my mother and I will miss her, but because she is such a lovely, lovely person. She is tiny and sweet and funny and generous and pretty perfect. She is so rare. Still, she is bouncing back. She has another surgery to go, and I am a little worried about this one, but I will not leave her side until she is better.

Well, except to go to work.

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

It has been a week of lots of ups and downs. My busy life went out the door when my mum got sick and was replaced with a different kind of busy. Instead of scrapping and lots of projects, I am shopping, cooking, cleaning 24/7 keeping my mum happy. Not that keeping her happy is a hard task, the tiniest things please her and she is such a good patient. But, she does need 24/7 attention and I have been giving her that. I have been creating lovely juices for her to drink, making tempting meals from scratch, waiting on her hand and foot and sitting with her while she watches English murder mysteries from the comfort of her recliner. She is an amazing, wonderful, resilient woman and I adore her.

Still, before she got sick, she did the grocery shopping, sometimes did dishes or cooked, and kept up her own room and laundry. Now I do it all, along with my job.

Having said that, I went to a wonderful concert on Saturday and spent the night at my brother's. My darling husband fetched and carried for my little mum, making her tea and toast and making sure she did not go hungry. He is such a good man. I needed a little break.

Anyway, just a catchup... what is going on in your lives?

I'm so sorry to hear that your mom is sick again. Bless you for taking care of her like you do. You are amazing!!!

My mom is now officially house bound. She has people coming out all day everyday. Therapists, nurses, my house is crazy. They provided her a wheelchair, so that's a positive thing. Since her stroke she is up all hours of the night, so I'm up with her. It's worse than having a baby, but that's okay. I don't mind. I'd rather have her here where I can take care of her.

I'm able to my scrapbooking early in the morning and late at night. She's usually asleep then. I enjoy the quiet time.

She is still sick. She went in for a minor procedure and ended up with major surgery. She is a trooper though and an absolute pleasure. I would not be so "amazing" (haha) if she was a grumpy old soul! She is the most amazing woman on the face of the earth and I treasure her.

I agree though, about having them where we can take care of them!

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

Lynn and Lynnie, your moms are so lucky to have you to take care of them, I worked in nursing homes for years, and It broke my heart, so many families bring their parents in and never come to see them, that's the ones I spoiled, but they don't get enough love and care in a nursing home, I actually had to give up the job, because my body couldn't handle all the lifting and hard work as I got older, but I really loved doing it for many years. And now I see the younger generation coming in to work and a lot of them don't have the patience or respect with the elderly, and it breaks my heart to see it everyday, I went to activities for a few years, but now I no longer work at nursing homes, I miss it but don't miss working with the younger employees... I had 7 brothers and 5 sisters so we took care of my mom at home also, and was able to give each other breaks, it's so hard when there is only 1 or 2 to take care of someone 24/7, so Kudos to you both for doing that. she has been gone 26 years now, I sure miss her, we were very close, I don't know how my mom raised 13 children but she did it, and she did it very well... She was the mother on the block, a lot of our friends were always at our house, and mom treated them like she did us, she also babysat a lot of the neighbor kids, I remember my dad came home one night from work, and there were 22 kids in the house, he said he was going back to work where it was quieter... LOL and we thought that was so funny, he worked in a noisy place and had to wear ear plugs... But having so many brothers and sisters, it was never dull or boring at our house.... The memories....
well it is warmer this morning than it was yesterday, thankful for that... Dogs can be out longer and they like that... I plan on working on a couple layouts today... I have a roast in the crockpot for supper, I love roast and mashed potatoes and veggies, one of my favorite meals... you all have a wonderful day...:kisses

I have a new granddaughter!!!! Born yesterday - LO is already in my gallery, LOL! She's adorable. She's number six! I get to go see her tomorrow. I can't wait!

Good morning Beautiful Ladies! Well it's raining again here, I was out in it for 2o minutes with the puppy, but thankful it wasn't cold.... but it is a little windy. I am hoping we have some decent weather this spring and summer, I think it rained 90 precent of the time last year... I hope to get some scrapping done today for a couple more challenges, I think I have about 8 so far done... LOL and I have one ready just got to get it loaded.. You all have a great day! HUGS :kisses

Re: Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling - JANUARY 2019 - Let's get to know each othe

Beautiful weather here, cool and crisp, but not cold. It is perfect weather for walking the dog, but sadly, no long walk for Belle today. We had a fire drill at the office the day before yesterday. I used to manage them just fine with no after effects, but since I broke my ankle, I have not done stairs much, except the one flight at home. Two days later, I am still in agony! I think I need to work on those stairs more often!

I am working from home today, since mum has a doc appointment mid-day. I will be working before and after. I actually work from home better, more peaceful and definitely more comfortable. I would much rather work from a recliner in my PJs than a desk all dressed up. Well, not all dressed up really, we have a pretty casual dress code at work, but they prefer no PJs!

I have been so focused on my mum that I have not really done much of anything. I plan to change that this week and start scrapping and writing again. She would love that. I think she knows that I have been too anxious to focus on anything else and she will feel less of a burden when I ignore her a bit, haha. Seriously, though, she is no burden and the time spent with her is very precious.

Other than that, life is going on as always. Lots to do and not enough time to do it.
