What kind of physical activity do you enjoy?

Clearly my attempts at starting a daily exercise thread failed. So instead, I will ask: what kind of physical activity do you enjoy?

I love running, which would absolutely shock any of my phys ed teachers, since I was always the kid who finished the required laps around the gym dead last. I'm still a very slow runner, but I still run! The half-marathon is my favourite distance (I've done 14 halfs), but I've also done 3 full marathons and lots of shorter distance races. I think I like the half because it demands a lot of you, but it doesn't consume your life, the way marathon training does. Plus, I have lots of endurance, but no speed, so the shorter races just don't do it for me.

I also love teaching fitness classes, but I'm not doing that as much anymore, because, quite frankly, I am tired of the fitness industry, and their focus on unhealthy ideals. I still love to move my body to music (in a step or Zumba class), but I'm disillusioned by the fitness industry.

I do enjoy Pilates, and do a lot of that on my own. I would love to get certified to teach Pilates, but the training is SO expensive.

What about you? What types of physical activity do you enjoy?

I enjoy running, biking and just started a Zumba class again! I broke my tailbone 4 weeks ago, so I'm just starting to get back into doing htings!

Yoga every day and I'm a swimmer - love to be in the water.. running is for the birds :hysterical: I swim every other day and weight train the other days. I ski in the winter and hike in the summer as well.

I love cycling. I tried running and did a 10K a few years ago but my knees starting hurting too much. I do enjoy the treadmill with a mild jog and do hot yoga once a week and gardening in the summer.

I love anything choreographed...though you'd never guess by looking at me. I've put on so much weight since I got married, putting everyone before myself.
I've been better the past year and a bit though, when I started aqua-aerobics classes 4 days a week. I also do the occasional stretch class (not that we do much stretching in that class!). Last week I did my 1st spin class...oh dear my poor behind is still recovering. I'm not giving up though, I have every intention of being back bright and early on Monday.

I like walks and day hiking (nothing longer than I can handle being away from clean bathroom facilities - lol).
I also lift weights at the gym 2-3 times a week when I'm feeling good - I actually work with a trainer once a week since I needed to come back from a series of injuries and past spending 3 years walking in the pool I wasn't sure how. I am sooo much stronger now and my focus with weights is to be able to do all the normal tasks in life without injuring myself as I age.

I am terrible about exercising - I would much rather be doing sedentary activities. I force myself to walk, etc. but that is about it. I wish I could find something that really inspires me. Actually, I do enjoy Zumba, but that is such a production to set up on my Wii and there are no classes close by.

What Tracey said (as long as you are healthy enough for it)! Start small, work your way up, and don't quit. I was sedentary for over a decade when I had small children, and I over ate. It's never too late to start.

I hate exercising, but I now ride 60 miles a week on the exercise bike and use the weight machine three days a week. I feel much better.

I'm at the gym: about 5 days a week. What I do.. well it depends. Ir depends a lot of when I have the g'kiddo's.
My usual:
Monday- cardio [usually 6 miles on the bicycle and some rowing] Some abs too
Tuesday- TRK
Wednesday- often - home
Thursday- Cardio like Monday or TRK
Friday- TaiChi or Yoga
Saturday- Yoga
Sunday- church and relax, Today tried the pool . 90 seconds and it rained [thunder/lightning].

Here is one more who loves to run! I also love MTB and racer cycle training!

I like walking best because it doesn't take much preparation and you don't have to drive to get to your starting point- at least I don't. Now that I am old most exercise is out- no running after my back surgery and I try to avoid anything that will cause additional discomfort in my knees. Writing this is making me depressed lol. I need to get back to scrapping.

Hmmm.......pushing the pedal on my sewing machine??

Seriously I just spent 10 days at the lake with the grands. Although my back and knees no longer tolerate water skiing, I LOVE jumping off of the back of the boat with them and then treading water (with a life jacket of course) and "judge" there cannonballs and other assorted jumps off the back. Amazing how many times they will climb up that ladder and jump off in search of the "perfect" 10, 15 or whatever they decide the scale will be.

I try to get to the gym at least 5 days a week, getting up at 5 a.m. I've been terrible about it the last few months though. I have two good friends, one turned 82 today, and seeing them is good for me emotionally. I try to do an hour on the elliptical, with usually 30 minutes on a recumbant bike and some sort of strength training. Then I sit and drink the free morning coffee (till 8:15) for awhile and get caught up a bit with GS, today I sat in the sauna for awhile though I prefer the steam room. Since the outdoor pool will only be open a few more weeks, I sat out by the pool for awhile with my friend and enjoyed the sunshine.

Now that I am old most exercise is out

Think of yourself as chronologically challenged. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. I opted out a loooonnnnngggg time ago :)
