What are you doing for vacation this summer?

I have a week in May and we have decided to stay home and work on our garage and around the house. We haven't gone anywhere in two years now. We are definitely going somewhere next summer....my niece is graduating next year and we may go on a cruise.

My son is coming to visit, so we will do things with him this summer. Now I don't have children in the house, I try to do holidays off season, so flights are less expensive and fewer people are traveling.

Enjoy your visit!!! One of my sons live close by about 15 min away and the other travels around with his job....thankfully only about a couple of hours away. My oldest hasn't been on a vacation since he's 19 and he's 26 now. I hate that for him, but he's a pipeline welder and you work when there is work.

Oooooo we were invited to our Hungarian Friends Family Reunion in Romania! So we booked an extended European trip. We start in Scotland on the 12th of July spend 6 days, fly to Romania and spend 7 days and then finish up in Amsterdam! We are bringing the 3 youngest kids which this might be my daughters last real trip with us since next year she is a senior and she will be going off to college. We will see, I hope I can squeeze 1 more trip out of her before she leaves me!

I'm taking the last week of August off (through Labor Day weekend). We're spending the first 4 days at our camp on the lake and then home to finish packing my daughter up for college. September 1st we'll be moving her into the dorms for her 1st year of college :cryhard

No real vacation for us this year....I had to get a new vehicle...well, not NEW, but new to me! We may do some day trips, but not sure what yet....

Not much. I'm having surgery May 18th, and it will take a while to recover from that. We are going to Stratford the long Canada Day weekend, and we have tickets to see The Music Man and the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We try to go to Stratford every year - the plays and musicals are incredible! No Shakespeare for us this year, as we really wanted to see these two musicals! Then in August I start my PhD program with a week of on-site intensive courses at the university.

So not much this year, but that's okay.

That sounds amazing!!! I hear ya about the last trip. My 22 year old is in college and will finish soon but his girlfriend has 2 more years because she's going to PA school. I hate going without the boys....:(.....makes me sad!

That sounds relaxing!!! I'm crying for you!! It's hard, my son is still close by, but it feels so weird when they are no longer home!! Some days are okay but I still miss them being home!

That's kinda what we are doing too. Not a new car, but a new shop. The car/truck will be coming soon though....I just don't want to make the payments on a new one.

Hope you have a quick recovery. Sounds like you have a few things planned....they sound fun. I don't think we even really have any small things planned.....well I do, but it's nothing fun....it's spring cleaning....UGH.

My husband is thinking of taking me somewhere in August to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. We've discussed a few places that have ranged from San Francisco to Mystic Seaport to the Smoky Mountains. We'll see where we end up.

Congrats (a little early) to 38 years. I've been married 29 :) I think I would like any of those places....I'm not much about sand and beaches

Well, we will be moving at the end of June. We left July blank because of the move so maybe our road trip will be around NC or SC. Then in August we will go back to Disneyworld but only in Hollywood Studio and Harry Potter castle. We almost died last year (exaggerated) because it was our first time in DW and we thought 4 days was enough. Wrong! The walking and the heat was too much. So we planned it properly this year that we have enough time to rest and explore.

Moving doesn't sound fun to me!! I wish I would have taken my kids to DW when they were young. Just didn't have funds back then. Maybe one day when we have grandkids we can make it up to them :). Yea.....4 days doesn't seem a lot to do all of that. At least you know now and can enjoy yourselves this time. I can't wait to see your layouts!!

Not sure we'll go on a vacation this year. We have to do an unexpected remodel of our master bathroom, and then there's my son's wedding stuff to consider. Sigh. I could use a break from the heat and humidity around here.

I am not that crazy about sand and beaches either. I think we will have fun wherever we go. We did not used to travel well together, but I think that has changed over the years. It will be fun to see where we end up.

I have been to Disneyland, California (heck, I have a pass) and Disneyland, Paris. My daughter used to work at both places, so we spent a lot of time there admiring her working. She danced in parades and worked character-side also. We actually flew to Paris to see here there. She was dating a really great guy at the time and he worked there also. He did a second tour in France and his mother and I (who are best of friends) flew out to visit him. Alas, the kids broke up after 7 1/2 years, but his mother and I see each other once or twice a week. We have passes together and go walking there a couple of times a month.

Is Illinois humid? I don't think I knew that. Congrats on wedding!

We aren't having a vacation. We used our extra money to finally (after 3 years ) do our back yard.

And beautiful it is.

I didn't get too sad when my son graduated and went into the Marines years ago, but she's my last one so it's hitting me kinda hard. She'll only be 2 hours away and I love the city she'll be in, so I plan to visit a few times, but yeah, not the same as having her home!

You'll have to give me some wedding tips. My youngest finally mentioned to us last night about buying his girlfriend a ring. They have been together for 5 1/2 years. He wants to finish college before they get married though...one more year for him and she will be going on to PA school.

Our summers consist of soccer tournaments which are expensive enough. Not sure where we are heading this year. I am leaving the soccer decisions up to the player this year. This could be really fun. Hahaha.

One thing for sure - scrapping certainly helped with many aspects of the weddings I have been involved with this summer :) You can see from this one we scrapped the save the dates, the invitations, the shower invitations, the envelopes, the shower games, signs, to name a few.

Thanks, Ane. I LOVE doing stuff like that. I do slideshows to music for the weddings also. These are just a few...

I'm taking my kids on a surprise trip to Disneyland. They know we are going on vacation, they just don't know where. I don't plan on telling them until we get to the airport. They're also going to England with their father this summer.

Disneyland, California? I live right by there and have a pass. Maybe I can pop by and see you just for a minute or two.
