Ane, good luck with your decorating and your homework!

I'm very much looking forward to four days off of work. I'm being very protective of my time after Thanksgiving, and have lots of projects that I want to work on. I want to tailor some more of my older tshirts, work on my scrapbooks, and reorganize a couple of our rooms. I also have been wanting to redecorate our daughter's old bathroom now that she has her own place. I'm thinking an "Edna Mode" vibe could be fun. We'll see if Randy agrees. Or maybe I'll just surprise him! LOL!

Hope you all have a great day!

LYNNIE! You were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I just loved your dress/jacket/coat. Did you make that? Your daughter's dress was so lovely. The venue was gorgeous. I hope everything went off without a hitch. Can't wait to see the layouts! <3<3<3

Awww, thank you!! I have done three pages today, one is about my dress. I didn't have a dress for the wedding and at the last minute, I decided I deserved one and threw one together out of a piece of fabric I purchased in India 20 years ago, some leftover bits from making the wedding dress and the lining was some fabric I had purchased when I was making masks. It has little hearts all over it. It is truly a mashup, but I loved it and Karen did, too..

Lynnie! Your dress is STUNNING! Only you could be like... hmm... what should I wear? Oh, let me just whip up an heirloom quality garment from fabrics I just have laying around! LOL! The story behind your dress just proves how incredibly special it is and how talented you are! You and your daughter both looked incredible!

Oh, and Happy December, everyone! We woke up to snow and sleep this morning. Hubby drove me to work in his truck. I was very grateful as the roads had not yet been cleared and were slick in spots. We saw a couple of vehicles on the side of the road, so it looks like the tow trucks will be busy this morning.

This is going to be a crazy busy week with board meetings and a couple of holiday events. On Friday, Randy and I are heading back to Florida for vacation and warmer weather. We'll be gone all next week and I'm so excited.

I enjoy crafting, sewing, scrapbooking, etc. I recognize that I will never be the best, or even professional quality, but they all look good from the outside haha. Fun detail - on the back of the dress there is this little heart, which I added at the last minute to cover up a giant hook and eye that we added to cinch her waist since she had lost a bit of weight since the last fitting. It was the most commented on feature of the dress!

That is brilliant problem solving in action right there!!!

Welp, the concert I've been practicing for is over. Phew! Not that I don't love playing, but it is a drive/parking situation I don't like. I haven't decided if I'll be with them next semester. I guess I'll let Eren go to the first practice and tell me how many clarinet players are there, lol! I do have another potential playing experience coming up though. That may be all I can handle.

Besides that, I recently came up with some lower back pain because of rigorously cleaning my house for Thanksgiving. Ooops. It gradually got worse until I went to urgent care on Saturday. They diagnosed me with sciatica. I sent in a plea for physical therapy to my PCM, and I ended up seeing a doc today. I'll get my physical therapy. They also gave me a pain-management plan and exercises to do. So yay! All this on top of school and the cold my granddaughter gave everyone, lol!

I hope things are going well for everyone! <3

OH NO Ane..... I'm so sorry. That is terribly painful.
I'm glad the concert went well and you have another chance to play, but I understand not wanting to drive or park in icky situations.

Well! The left eye is NEW! I don't know if I shared this here. Ane and a few from the other weight-loss group know. I'm having cataracts removed and lens replacements done. Had the left eye done yesterday and it went great. Obviously, I'm already back on the computer. It's still a little fuzzy. (the EYE... not ME! smarty pants!) They say I should be "clear-ish" by Sunday-Monday, but the whole process takes three months. Having the right eye done next Thursday. No contacts ever again! That is the best part. I am so grateful for that.

Take care.
Love and Blessings.
Carla, in MN

Lynnie, those dresses are amazing, hats off to you for doing this for your daughter. I am sure it was so special for both of you.
Ane, sounds like you have a pretty busy schedule, hats of to you for keeping up playing your instrument while doing school work. Take care with the physical therapy!
Shana, Maybe I missed it but I would love to see what you did with your t-shirts, so nice to save them and recycle years later.
Carla, So glad that your surgery went well, all the best for the next one. I had both my eyes done as well quite a few years ago but I had to be put under with the second eye as I was moving too much with the first eye surgery. We have a long history of cataracts in our family so most of us have had them done in our 30's. My Mom had hers done at 4 and 13 years old and lived with many other eye diseases all her life. When she passed she only had eyesight in one eye with only a small slit to see from. She still was so positive that she could see, bless her heart! I did a scrapbook page on this topic.

Life is still kind of hard but I try to be positive and find the joy in everyday. The firsts without my hubby are the hardest. I have been keeping busy with my cycling group, we now winter hike and will be having a Christmas wind up soon. I have a lot of circle of friends that get together so I am busier than ever, which is good. I am hosting a Christmas get-together with my "school" friends so we all go back to our youngest years and we have so much fun together. You will have to look for the layout that I will most definitely do in the upcoming days.

Tonight, I am off to see an Elvis impersonator Christmas show. I have seen him before and he puts on a great show; plus dinner with friends.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Ane (@AJsRandom), I hope your back is feeling better. I keep throwing mine out of whack and it can be SO painful. You have my sympathy.

Shana (@breoni), I am good at covering things up so they look good haha.

Carla (@Carla minicooper452) You will love your new eyes! Hang in there, it will feel magical. I had mine done and I love them.

I hope all is going well with everyone. It seems pretty quiet in this thread. I know I have been up to my ears. I am so behind in my journaling! I admire Katherine (@KatherineWoodin) for keeping up with her daily journals and scrapping them. I can barely keep up with writing them.

Karen, thank you for your concern. It means a lot considering what you have been through this year. <3

Lynnie, my sciatica is doing a lot better. I haven't started physical therapy yet, but have been doing exercises/stretches for it almost every day.

I am just puttering along, doing as much as I can considering my back and my cold that Lena was kind enough to bestow upon all who came to our home for Thanksgiving. Hubby's had it much worse than me though, which is odd. He doesn't get sick often. I am keeping up with my homework, though I should probably be drafting my research paper instead of "dinking around" online, lol. Still doing my volunteer work, though tomorrow will be interesting. I don't want to cough on anyone or lose my voice.

Hope all is going well with everyone! Hopefully, you are progressing well with decorating for Christmas, getting presents, sending out cards, etc. I am pretty much on top of Christmas this year.

Does everyone celebrate Christmas? If not, do you celebrate anything else around this time? What traditions do you have?

OMGosh, Lynnie! You and your daughter are surrounded by such dapper men! I am a tad jealous. What a great Christmas card. You and Karen are carbon copies. Just look at the exact tilt of your heads and your smiles. I love it. Precious. I'm so happy for your whole family. <3

Happy Monday, all! We had a wonderful vacation last week. It rained the first two days, but then the weather was lovely the rest of our trip. We averaged about 19,000 steps at the parks each day, so I feel I got my exercise in! LOL! It was great celebrating the holidays early with Randy with our phones turned off. Of course, now we're back and trying to catch up on work and personal errands. We did get so many wonderful photos so more pages to come when I have a moment to sit down! LOL!

@Route66 - I had so much fun customizing my shirts for our trip. I ended up "upcycling" 10 shirts that I previously had. I made one waaaaay too small, and there was another that I just hated the fit. So I said goodbye to those projects. But enough of my "creations" turned out that I was able to wear them to the parks. My favorites were the Edna Mode and the Chewbacca shirts, but I was just tickled at salvaging last year's Christmas shirts in a way I could wear them again this year! I had to laugh because I've never really owned anything plaid before and now my winter closet is filled with all sorts of plaids! I also appreciated how the flannel sleeves helped me stay wamer as so much of our time was outside.

I do think they are lovely! I love them all to bits, including my new son-in-law. He is an absolute darling with the sweetest nature in the world. He is the perfect balance to my wild and crazy daughter. She is all over the place and very high energy. He is peace and tranquility.

I love your shirts. With the center panel, they are very slimming and loads of fun! 19,000 steps is a good amount in a day; you definitely did get your exercise in! Phones turned off is VERY impressive. I have trouble turning my phone off at all. I am afraid I am very addicted, which is sad, but there you have it.

I am all decorated and making good progress with Christmas presents. I think I mentioned earlier that Christmas is going well so far. I was not going to do Christmas cards this year, but it was bothering me, so I bit the bullet, made them, and sent them out. I am keeping up with the new ones I have to send when someone I didn't send to sends one, so that is all good. I think I got my international ones out on time.

I create a calendar every year with pictures on the top and personalized calendar on the bottom. It is an 8.5 x 5.5 and spiral bound. Here is a page from the calendar featuring the birthday kids, not everyone, just my kids, their spouses and my nieces/nephews. I don't include my cousins, I wouldn't have enough room! They are bound in the middle of the page (between the Februaries!) I have been doing them for a long time - maybe 15 15 years. My friend and I do them together. I did hers at the end of November and decided I wouldn't do it this year - too much work. Again, I couldn't help myself. The family loves them and they make a great gift. I think the thing that slowed me down is that I had created a basic template and just filled it in every year, changing a few pages for fun. Because my computer crashed, I did lose these templates. Silly me had missed backing them up. I had to create every page from scratch, which was a pain. I create the pages in photo shop and import them to a calendar creator. The birthdays and holidays are in there, so I don't have to expend effort with that. I just update the year and the birthdays transfer. The last backup I had of the birthdays was a few years ago, so I had to add a few. They are all GS products :)

Hi dear ladies, sorry for being absent, but I have been very busy.
Ane dear, take care of yourself and continue the physiotherapy, I'm glad the concert went well. Keeping you in my thoughts.
Shana, I love your photos, they're so cute!
Lynnie your dress is so beautiful!

Wishing you all a merry season!

Lynnie, congrats on getting your cards out. I had mine all designed and ready to go, but hubby now wants to change up the photo. Oh my. When did he decide to become the creative director! LOL! At least I get to use my digi scrapbooking skills. I use AmazingMail.com. You can download their templates, design your own cards, upload the design and your addresses, and voila... your cards are sent! We always send them postcard style, and the laminated cards are very nice. Between both of our business contacts, friends, and family, we send about 300 cards each year. I think this is a dying custom as the number of cards we receive is fewer and fewer each year. I have this fun decorative Christmas sleigh that I've used to collect the cards that are mailed to us... but last year, I never pulled it out of storage. We just had a small pile of cards on our mantel. I need to figure out how to display the cards we receive this year. Anyone have any fun ideas?

Shana, your new shirts at Disney look amazing! <3

Lynnie, what an amazing idea for cards! We have a magnetic front door, so I use magnets to stick them to the inside half of it.

Carla, I got your card--beautiful! And I will definitely use it.

Here's a puzzle for everyone--what do you do with your cards when you are done admiring them?

It turns out that my cold developed into pneumonia! I went to urgent care yesterday morning and they had me do a chest x-ray. So now I have to take antibiotics until Christmas Eve. Wonderful! I have to remember to pack them when we go to my son's place next week.
