Ane, pulverizing peaches sound so therapeutic!!!
Lynnie, so sorry to hear about your hard drive crashing. Ugh!!!

Just five days until my much-needed vacation! Everyone at work is battling seasonal allergies, and I’ve been buried in contracts for upcoming events. I recently met with a surgeon to explore skin removal surgery after my weight loss; waiting on paperwork to see what the numbers look like.

I’ve dusted off my sewing machine to try resizing some favorite T-shirts. At my highest, I wore a 5X, and now I’m anywhere from XL to M depending on the brand... wild! I got a cute Disney Halloween shirt and was sure it wouldn’t fit… but it did, perfectly. Hoping to practice on some old youth tour shirts this weekend and see if I can rework clothes instead of buying new ones. Of course, there’s always that lingering fear of the weight coming back. I've been watching a couple of YouTube videos so I have a general idea of how I want to rework existing clothes and save money by not buying new ones. Wish me luck!

RELAXING!!! Worked my first TWO days of my LAST year and they were wonderful. I love the little, temporary office they have my in. I guess it's for about 6 weeks until they get the cubicles built over there. I wish they'd let me stay where I'm at because the people over here are really, really nice, especially since it's my last year anyway. So, I'm pushing for that. We shall see. I'll just enjoy these four days until I hit the next 177 hard and be DONE! WOOHOO! 🎉🎉🎉

Surgery is now scheduled for August 28. [It was moved from the 26 because he did not want 2 difficult ones in one day. I appreciate that!]
I made the mistake of "looking up" the recovery time and possible what might be taking place...gulp, shouldn't have done, as now I'm freaking out.

The tingling, pains and numbness have increased, so not doing better. Praying the surgery fixes a lot. Using topical essential oils do help some along with Rx medications.
m
Here is hoping the surgery went well!

I am back home! My back is a little tender still, but I am doing just fine. I took my computer in for a diagnostic and both the motherboard and the drive were fried, so I had to buy a new computer. I wasn't sure how I could manage it, but Rand had a 'secret' savings account and produced the money for a new laptop. I am enjoying it and slowly muddling my way through reinstalling programs, etc. Fortunately, I store most of my data offline, on my network storage, so I lost relatively little. One thing I lost was all my emails. That was a bit frustrating, but ah well. It could have been way worse.

OH NO! How did you lose all your emails Lynnie? I would have thought that those would simply be in your inbox. I'm so sorry. You're right though; it could have been WAY worse as we all know. I hope, now that you're home, you can get some relief with your back. Maybe some massage or chiropractic or something.

That's what I always say about anything medical, Mich, DON'T look anything up online. HA! In fact, when I was going thru my lymphedema treatment, my therapists told me specifically not to look up anything online because they said it would scare me and probably permanently SCAR me. Omgosh... were they right, because of course, I had to look it up. I was not nearly as bad as some of those pictures! (which is what they told me... hehehehehehe) Oh man, the things we do to ourselves. So, now what you do is follow ALL of the doctor's instructions, ALL of the PT instructions, ALL of the everyone's instructions. Just DO what you're told woman! And you'll be fine. As active as you've been up to now, you're going to bounce back from this, I'm sure.

Oh boy is our weather perfect for the last summer weekend. I am enjoying having the windows open and the sun shining and watching our boy tanning himself on his deck. HA!

Have a wonderful last couple days.
Love and Blessings!
Carla, in MN

Oh... gotcha! That's interesting. I have gmail and I have over 3000 emails sorted with various labels in my Forums inbox right now. I know what all of the labels mean so I can find them whenever I want to go back. I have 200+ in my primary box and about 300 in the other three. Everything's labeled. I'm sure I could get rid of a lot of them now, but that would take a bunch of time that I don't have. I wasn't very selective years ago. I am now. But the labels have helped so much.

I have thousands and thousands of emails. Well, had! Quite a few of them contained information I go back to and use. I also had a bunch of contacts sorted into mailing groups, for organizations I belong to. Anyway, they will have to be redone. What a nuisance!!

Thinking about emails, that reminds me of the meme where one partner has a perfectly cleared inbox and the other has thousands of unread emails. Randy and I fall into that... I'm the one who keeps her inbox as clean as possible (but I have dozens of subfolders to save important emails), and he has thousands of unread emails. Oh my! I'd be lost if I lost my work emails, but they're saved and backed up automatically.

I got to attend my nephew's first collegiate cross country race. He raced the same track while in High School, and several of his high school buddies came out to support him, which was awesome. The collegiate race was a very different experience. Not many spectators and very few families. Of course, many of the athletes are international students. They had the collegiate mascot interacting with those of us who were there, so that was fun. My nephew had a goal for this race.... he wanted to beat his time from his first high school race on this track when he ran a 5k. However, this race was a 6k... and he beat his time with no problem! YAY! He completed the race in under 19 minutes, and came in 11th out of the 85 runners. It was fun to be able to witness him meet his goal.

I don't know where to put this so putting it here, I'll be MIA next week, I'm going on Vacation!!!!!!!!!!! That challenge in july, made me count it out and 17 YEARS without a vacation is FAR to long!!!!!!!

It is costing (for me) a huge fortune, but it is what it is.

Please wish me luck!! I'm alone in the world (mostly) and disabled, so fingers crossed we make it!!

Chloe, Shimmer and I are beyond excited!!!!!!!!!!!

You will have a wonderful time. You are not completely alone - you have us! I hope you share pictures and moments with us as you go along your way!

Hi everyone, I haven't been on much since I returned from my trip, emails were piled up, my cat is very needy after leaving her in a boarded place and lots of catching up on groceries, household chores, finances and family gatherings to attend before summers' end. The weather is getting cooler here and my cycle season has ended. Our wind up lunch is tomorrow then a break before we start the fall season of hiking. Once I get caught up with house chores I may have some free time to work on my ongoing travel books. My trip to visit my son in Banff was glorious, I cried when I had to come home. AND...back to reality now.

Lynnie, Sorry to hear of your motherboard, hopefully you were able to recover most of it.

Carla, Yikes to the emails, I would be so frustrated with that many emails piled up on me but you seem to organized so GOOD on ya! One of my friends has lymphedema as a result from breast cancer. She suffers some but is highly motivated so she is content most of the time. Hugs

Shana, It sounds like you are such an organized person, struggle with that!

VariMoon, Take it from a seasoned traveler, you can never go wrong with traveling to see the world and you can't take it with you! Enjoy every minute and explore as much a possible! I wait to hear of her journey.

Oh Karen... they're NOT piled up. I've looked at every single one. They're there to hold onto. I have them there to hold.
They're recipes and scrapbooking information and card techniques and all sorts of stuff. Like I said, I "know" what it all is. I have labels for EVERYTHING and I use my search feature all the time. I even write emails to myself to save information. Like when my computer does "stupid stuff" that I have to fix? Then I find the "fix"... I write a note, in an email and it's right there for me to fix it again the next time it happens. It's awesome.

Ane, I so admire wedding photographers. I've only shot two weddings for close family friends and it was soooo stressful! Egads! Over the weekend, I shot photos for our local high school dance team. They only had 13 girls and they were so cute. It took them a few minutes to realize that THEY were leading the photo shoot, and then they started to play. We got some really cute photos of them being silly or showing off their best dance poses. I do this every year for the dance coach as she was so good to my daughter when she was on the dance team.
I've done a few weddings. Yes, quite stressful.

Hello all,
I'm home from my surgery. Cervical Spinal Fusions of C4-C7 complete with cadaver bone parts [after much disc removed], titanium screws and mesh. The surgery was more involved than planned. It was successful and that is most important. Some complications occurred post surgery which netted me several more days in the hospital. I cannot drive another 3 weeks. Full healing is 10 months.
Grateful it is over. Moving Slowly on the mend.

Happy Friday, everyone! What are y'all doing this weekend? Scooping up goodies from the sales? Participating in the birthday challenges? I plan to do some of both! <3

The peach jam is made! I finished most of my homework for the week, and I exercised 3 times! :) I also started (last week) as a volunteer clarinet player for Eren's school's concert band. Eren asked me if I would, and now I think all the parts are covered (there were only 2 before). Now I just need the director to add me to his email list so I know what's going on, lol!

I'm busier as an empty nester than when I had kids at home!

@msbrad , Michi, So glad the surgery was a success and sorry you had to spend more time in the hospital. That is no fun. Ten months is a long time for healing, but, hopefully, it will be life back to normal after that.

I am in my pjs relaxing after my first three days back with the grand-kids after my holiday in England. They are definitely wilder and harder to manage. Steven said that their other Nana was so delighted to have them she understandably spoiled them a little. She is a lovely lady and they are very easy to spoil :) Funny story, I asked Bruce what he did with Nana-Lena while I was gone - he said "she brushed my hair a lot and called me handsome!" I laughed so hard. She loves to dress them up in cute outfits and do their hair.

Hi all! Back from my vacay and still trying to caught up on my rest. Our flight was delayed and we made it home.... around 3 a.m.! Egads. I ended up taking another day off work yesterday knowing that I would not be much good for anything on such little sleep. But then one of our managers (we have 27 member systems across the state) called me at 8 a.m. needing help for a legislative meeting yesterday afternoon. So I still didn't get the needed sleep! But I did get all my photos downloaded and have a wealth of pictures to scrapbook. Actually, I feel like I'm so far behind in my personal scrapbooking... I haven't even finished our vacation from last year. So I need to prioritize what memories I want to capture and hop to it! LOL!

Good morning, Shana, I hope your day is going well. @GingerScraps, that is unfortunate, but there are worse things. The new platform has been so stable and has so many nice features. I am sure these two things will iron themselves out (with you frantically wielding the iron and ironing board!)

I am still loading up software on my new computer and really enjoying the speed (before I bog it down with all the stuff I usually end up with). I have been doing a lot of scrapping and managed a bunch of birthday things along with my regular challenges. I have been motiviated to scrap. Sadly, my day to day things have slid a little (who needs to do dishes anyway!).

I am babysitting today and enjoying a few moments piece before the zoo wakes up. I have to arrive before 5 (which means leaving my house before 4:15am) on Wednesdays, so things are still quiet here. My son leaves for work at 5. I could get here a little later, but I think he is more comfortable if I arrive before my daughter-in-law wakes up rather than worrying if I am going to arrive in time.

Yesterday my husband went for a walk around mid-day (it was pretty hot, what was he thinking!). When he got home, he suggested we go swimming since the pool at our Clubhouse 1 was not very full. We headed that way and enjoyed an hour or so in the pool and hot tub, then came home and watched a movie. It was a fun afternoon.

I love my life!

Good morning all - where are my chatty scrappy friends? We need to be obsessed with this thread and sharing our daily news!

I am babysitting today (and last two days). Bruce just woke up with a sunny smile. Scarlett has not come out yet, but she is not a morning person. She is little miss Grumpy in the morning. I need to find a way to make her sweet and sunny first thing. Any suggestions?

Lynnie, I will explain where I disappeared to. I have been reading this really long book for class. Class seems to be taking up more and more of my time; it's really frustrating! I have also been doing a bunch of volunteer work and sleeping long to recover from my long days. Sigh. Tomorrow I will be going shopping and making applesauce. In between that, I'll be writing a short paper.

I wish I had some advice for cheering up non-morning people. But as I am a non-morning person, I'm afraid I'm no help. As an adult, I can force myself to be cheery, but little ones tend to not like that so much. Just be your normal, loving, grandma self. And let her sleep in, if you can. :)

IKR, Lynnie! What are they thinking making our Ane work so hard when there is paper-play to accomplish?!? Or even applesauce, for heaven's sake!

I was wondering about school, Ane. I know you said that you were getting in deep lately.

I've been told, Lynnie, that it's very difficult to change a non-morning person to a morning person. Takes a lot of re-conditioning. I tend to be more of a morning person, but I also stay up a tad too late for my own good. I'm just not an all-nighter like some people I know. I think there are articles online about helping kids rework their brains to get ready for school and the like. Maybe try something like that. Good Luck!
