Thank you for your support, Lynnie and Carla! Want to talk to my professor for me, LOL! I got a little bit done on my paper. I had more fun shopping with hubby though. I want to kick myself for not getting much done, but at least it's only a 3-page paper. I haven't scrapped anything other than signatures since July. That's how sad I am. I did take a long break last night when I probably shouldn't have, but oh well. I felt so much better while I was playing hooky. Maybe I'll do some more playing Monday. Tomorrow will be a slog.

HI all!

I'm in the office this week and not traveling, but I've found that I've been spending a lot of our down time managing our new pin trading hobby. It's super fun to trade pins, but I don't like all the time it's taking away from my other hobbies. We have an event later this month, and I'm going to see if I can trade away a lot of our inventory. I've also been selling a lot of things on ebay. Again, the extra money is nice, but man... that takes so much time to take the photos, make the listings, and manage the sales. I am finding that I'm making trips to the post office every day. Again, I'm happy to get stuff out of the house and make a couple of dollars, but it's time consuming. And now I have a lost package that I need to follow up with the post office. I've learned to get receipts from every mailing and send a photo of the receipt to the buyer as proof of mailing. That practice has saved my hide a couple of times when the buyer claimed that they never received the item. Meanwhile, hubby keeps wanting to pick up new items "on sale" that we could then post on ebay for a small profit. I've told him he can't buy anything new for us (aka me) to resale because I need to claim back my time. LOL! Most of what I've been selling are my clothes that no longer fit. So I'm happy that someone else will enjoy them! :)

Shana, you can also try Mercari for selling items. That is what my daughter uses and she says it is more reasonable and far easier. Anyway, just a thought.

We used to have a million pins, but I gave them to a friend as a gift when I was over managing them. She has tons of them. We gave her some really unique ones that were limited editions made available only to cast members. I never traded pins, but loved to collect them for a while. I still have a few that are on an old backpack. They have the secure back posts and I could not work out how to remove them since I lost the thing.

Ane, sure we will talk to your prof! Hopefully he/she will listen to us :) Sometimes we do need a break.

I've heard mixed things about Mercari, but I really should look into it. I don't want to spread myself across more than one selling platform. But if it's easier to use, I should consider it! LOL! Now if we could just get the USPS to deliver everything efficiently and undamaged, that would be great!

On our last Disney trip, we had brought with us some of the HUGE Funko Pop Star Wars pins (one pin is about the size of my hand). We waited until kids would approach us to trade pins (we have bags that display our traders in full view). It was the cutest thing when Randy would have them pick a trader from their collection and then gift them with a massive pin! LOL! I think the kids' dads were more excited than the kids. We still have a half dozen or so of the huge pins, so they'll be coming with us for our next park visit for the Christmas holiday. :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Hey, sorry I have been MIA lately. I have been so busy with the house and appointments so not very much scrappy time. I did sneak away for a week trip to visit my son in Banff but otherwise I have just been playing catchup with house stuff and appointments. It is looking like surgery sometime in the near future on my tonsils. I have had a large polyp on my left tonsil for several years and they finally are going to take it off. I am hoping it helps with my choking issues.

My time in Banff was glorious and I can't wait to scrap it all and get it in a book but I am still working on my Italy book. I have had so many yard chores, cutting grass seems to be every 4 or 5 days due to our exceptional nice fall weather. The leaves are starting to fall now so I am sure there will be many more cuttings before the colder weather hits us (not looking forward to that!).

I have also been going to my brother and sister in law's to swim and socialize which I very much appreciate. They just live down the street from me so it is so convenient. Cycling season has winded down but I still get out a couple days a week with a friend. I am very excited to announce that I have a new trip in my future...my son is turning 40next year so we are going on a 10 day cycling tour in Portugal in February. The trip look glorious!

I was gifted a ticket to go see Keith Urban in concert tonight so very excited for that.

Happy to hear everyone is doing well and been busy as well!

Happy Friday Eve! LOL!!!!

Any fun plans for the weekend? Randy and I are planning to pop over to Kansas City for an annual art walk. They rope off a couple of streets in the bougie shopping district and set up artists of all kids for several blocks. There will also be food vendors and a stage for concerts. We enjoy looking at the paintings, sculptures, and jewelry that others have created.

Sounds like a fun event, enjoy!

Thanks! We're just trying to find time to go when it won't be raining. Hopefully the artists' tents are well covered this year. I walked down to the post office yesterday and got caught in a rainstorm on my way back (thankfully I had already dropped off my packages). I had taken an umbrella, but my pants, socks, and shoes were quite soggy when I returned home! LOL!!! I don't mind the rain... that means I won't have to worry about mosquitos!

I am at my grandkids' house for the weekend! My son, DIL, and hubby are running races tomorrow--DIL is doing a half marathon and the other 2 are doing the marathon (crazyheads!). I will stay home with the grands until DIL finishes and comes home. After she showers, we'll go watch the other 2 cross the finish line. We'll come home Monday. But until then, I'm going to have some fun! :)

We did make it over to the art walk and saw some amazing (and some questionable) art. There was one booth filled with kinetic sculpture... picture a piece of metal work you hang on a wall and drop a marble on top and watch it roll down through different stations. Very cool. Yesterday, I was very proud of myself... I dusted off my sewing machine to rework a couple of favorite t-shirts that are now too big to wear. I watched several videos of people "upcycling" t-shirts by combing them with flannel shirts. Basically, I cut up each shirt into thirds (left sleeve and shoulder, center, and right sleeve and shoulder). So now I have two of my t-shirts that have flannel sides and sleeves. YAY!

I am back from my short trip! I had a great time with the little ones, and it's always great to reconnect with my son and DIL. It always hard to leave, but everyone had to get back to work/school. Including me, sigh. I'm reading this really long book for class, but I *think* I'm almost done. It has a ton of endnotes and they probably take up a lot of pages (I'm reading it as an ebook so I can't see where it properly ends).

Shana, yay for you! That sounds like a fun project to do, and you have practically new shirts! :D

Ane, right!? I'm so excited. I've put a lot of my old t-shirts on ebay since they're too big for me, so now I need to revisit that pile and see if I can upcycle some of them into clothes I can wear again. I just need to head to the thrift store and find flannel shirts that will coordinate. I also saw a video about someone upcycling sweatshirts in really cool ways, but I don't know if my ancient sewing machine is up to that challenge! LOL!!!

We're having a rainy day here, which is lovely. Daylight hours are clearly getting shorter and the temps are starting to cool down. This type of weather makes me want to take a nap! LOL!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

@AJsRandom Ane, I am glad you had a nice weekend with the grandchildren before having to settle down and deal with your homework. Sometimes, we just need a break to rejuvenate and have some fun!

@breoni Shana, it sounds as though you have done a great job rejuvenating your clothing! I hope you do a page on it and show the end results.

@A-M Anne-Marie, I am glad you find time to post from time to time. I am glad you started the thread about sharing layouts. I will add one and make some comments, I hope others of us do also :)

I spent the weekend making a test wedding dress for Karen. It is pretty - we made it out of an old shower curtain. She has gained a little weight since we measured her for the pattern, so I will have to make s a few adjustments. She is planning on losing a few pounds (she is not heavy by any means) before the wedding, but we want her to be comfortable, so we are just going to add some extra around the hips. After she tried on the dress, we went shopping for the fabric for the dress. It is beautiful. I hope it turns out the way she wants.

Shana, you need to share pictures! Your repurposing sounds great. I've seen other shirts like that and I sew too. Super idea for reuse.

Glad everyone had a good weekend. Didn't do a lot, but was able to stop and grab a gorgeous handmade bird bath from my dear HS friend. I'll have to share a picture later bc it's only online and not on a shareable site. Gotta run to work.

LOL... I should have taken before and after photos, but maybe I could still make a layout about the process! Now I want to rework ALL of my clothes. I watched a couple of videos of people taking their Spirit Jerseys and upcycling them in creative ways. I'm inspired, but I'm short on time (and sewing experience). We'll see what happens!

LOL... here is a photo of the upcycled Disney shirt. I'm super happy with how it turned out, considering I barely know how to turn on a sewing machine! I'm going to pair this with a set of Minnie Mouse ears headband that are also gold sequined with a red sequined bow.

Not at ALL what I expected, Shana... I read it completely wrong, but I completely LOVE it! What fun. I really like the short sleeves. I can't stand long sleeves. I've seen tees sewn into the back of flannel shirts, but it's always the long sleeves that have turned me off and I can't justify spending the money on cute shirts just to cut off the sleeves, but I could absolutely buy flannel at Good Will and make my own and cut off the sleeves! WOOHOO!!!

Carla, yes! I've been watching all sorts of videos now about people upcycling clothes already in their closet, or going thrifting for just that purpose! I'm now keeping my eyes open for sales and clearance items. I'm okay spending $5 on a shirt for a project that I may or may not be successful completing! LOL! I had another t-shirt with those tiny cap sleeves. And with my weight loss, I have SOOOO much skin that hangs off my arms (my current spirit animal is a flying squirrel because that's what I look like). So being able to add sleeves to that shirt means I'll actually wear it! I'm having a lot of fun changing up the wardrobe I already own. Here's my second project. This was a little more challenging since the Pirates of the Caribbean shirt had all sorts of those plastic gem stones already in the pattern.

LOL... I've started to slowly introduce my Disney wardrobe at work (usually on Fridays). I think the entire week of Halloween, I plan to wear a different Disney Villain / Disney Halloween shirt each day. Of course, all of the local stores had Halloween stuff out in August, and they've already switched over to Christmas. (Shaking my head).

This past weekend, we went to the pin trading event. I ended up trading several of my Disney shirts / sweatshirts for Disney pins. I was delighted to come up with less bulky items. We had a fun time chatting with the other traders and hearing their stories. There was one guy there from Chicago who had just driven to Kansas from Orlando, Florida. He is a true professional pin trader (this is his full time job) and he travels the country looking for pin events. He had a gorgeous collection, but all were out of our league. I asked him what his favorite pin was and he pointed to a Sorcerer Mickey. He told me that pin came from a retired cast member who received the pin from Walt Disney, himself. No clue if the story is true or not, but it was cool story regardless!

How is everyone else doing today? Anything fun planned to bring in the month of October?

Shana, I've got nothing special to bring in October. Hubby is out of town until Thursday, so it's super quiet around here. October is my favorite month though, and I have a few activities sprinkled in here and there. Mostly just trying to stay afloat in this class which has a ton of reading. I haven't been able to scrap since July and I'm feeling it! Any ideas to kickstart my mojo?
