Happy Monday, all! We had a nice weekend. Weather was fantastic. Randy and I went to the Dia de los Muertos festival in a nearby town. We looked at the booths, watched the parade, and enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up. On our way home, we saw another small town was having a car show, so we stopped and checked that out. That night, we joined some friends who had set up tables to paint pumpkins. They have a huge pumpkin patch and have more pumpkins than they know what to do with. So we painted a couple, and they threw in several more for us to take home! Ha! They had them in all colors... orange, yellow, a blueish green, white. They also gave us a huge dark orange variety that is covered in "warts." I'm sure it has a name, I just have no idea what it is. Ha.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing laundry and working on layouts from our vacation.

Now that I'm back in the office, my office lights seem to be behaving. I'm having a difficult time getting motivated today. Time for more coffee.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Sherri- Hi! I'm glad to see you here and that you are surviving. Looks like shots are making us all somewhat ill, huh?

Rae, I hope you feel better soon!

Shana, glad your work lights are behaving today and that you had a good weekend. :)

My 1st master's class ended yesterday when I turned in my paper. I have a week off and start a new one next Monday. The walk on Saturday was nice. Cool weather, but I was warm by the end. Still a tiny bit sore 'cause I forgot to stretch when I got home. I'm glad everyone had a good weekend. :)

Good afternoon everyone. Popped into the doctors office today and was glad I did. I waffle about going in for cold like illnesses, figuring they will resolve on their own. But this time I went in b/c last night my right eye drained twice (a lot) and four times I had to put a hot compress on it throughout the night to be able to open the eye. I got antibiotics for the sinus infection and antibiotic drops for the eye conjunctivitis. Should be feeling better in a few days.

Shana - that sounds like a fun time. I haven't carved pumpkins in forever (I really suck at it).

Ane - enjoy your week off before starting the next class.

Going out for dinner with a ladies group tonight and then tomorrow we take the car in for the snow tire switchover. Good timing b/c the temps will be dropping this wk and bits of snow starting.

We loaded up for Halloween candy, judging by the amount of neighbors' decorating, I'm pretty sure we will get hundreds of kids. If not, Darrell will be very happy to eat it.

Busy weekend ending with a fall hike and bonfire get-together with my seniors group. The ladies greeted me back after I was on vacation with a sign welcoming me back, how thoughtful! I have been working on decorating pumpkins for the big day. I decided to paint some this year and found some really cute minions on pumpkins so I set to create. It took me sooo long to paint them as they all needed at least 3 coasts. It was a fun project and my sister-in-law was very happy to see what I did with the pumpkins she gave me. Post coming soon... The weather here has been super nice for this time of the year so I have been enjoying cycling some so I have neglected my gardens and I really need to commit to clean-up the yard and gardens tomorrow. Have a great week everyone.

Good morning, and please pass the coffee! Today is the day that my preferred airline releases the tickets for summer flights. So I woke up at 4 a.m. so I could be on the phone at 5 a.m. when they opened to book flights for my group. I was only on hold for about an hour (one year, I was on hold for 12 hours) and then someone picked up! YAY! But then she said that while the tickets are expected to be released "sometime" today... they aren't released yet, and try again later! Oy vey! I could have slept! So I will try again in about an hour, expecting to be on hold for about another hour minimum. Such a fun and exciting way to spend my day, right? Zzzzzz....

Happy Halloween! Does anyone have any fun plans?

We met with some friends last night for a "Candlelight Symphony" where they played songs from scary (and not so scary) TV shows and movies, including The Adams Family, Psycho, Beetlejuice, and Thriller. It was fun.

We will dress up tonight to hand out candy. The weather is not supposed to be very good, so I anticipate it will be a light crowd this year. Which is a good thing since Randy has been "sampling" our candy stash all week! LOL!

Shana, I don't have any special plans for today other than decorating my front porch a bit, putting on my witch hat headband, and passing out candy. The weather is warm but kinda nasty here too, so we may get less children also. On the other hand, more kids moved into the neighborhood, so it could be the opposite. Either way, we have a huge bag of candy to give out. Maybe I'll keep all of my favorite mini candy bars lol.

I'm twiddling my thumbs, waiting for my next class. I can preview it tomorrow, so that is what I will do to see the syllabus and books I may need to buy. I've scrapped a little too and had a couple of naps. So nice to be able to do that! :)

Happy Halloween. No plans really for us. We will go out to see the kids, and help son in law with candy while our daughter does the walking the neighborhood. Hoping to get some fun photos.

A primary doctor appointment yesterday. All is good. I guess I will be around a while.

Happy November everyone,

Weather was nice here yesterday and we had 45 trick-or-treaters. Our neighborhood is older so a lot less kids than in the new neighborhoods (my son usually gets over 200!) I painted pumpkins this year (the Minions & Gru) and the kids loved them. We just ordered subway for dinner and watched a few programs while the kids came the door, it was all over by 8:30pm. Some costume were very creative and I loved how excited the little ones were with the Minions pumpkins, more so than getting candy! Warms my heart!

I had a long video chat with my younger son (his birthday was on the 30th) but he is vacationing in Japan and the time is 15 hours ahead so it took us awhile to connect with him.

I finally got my gardens cleaned out yesterday, thankful that we still have beautiful weather this year as I was procrastinating about that job. Sadly the bike is parked for the winter but I am looking forward to fall/winter hikes with my seniors group.

Today I have a lunch date with one of my friends I worked with and will start to organize a Christmas card crafting day with a childhood friend. She is new to crafting so I am going to go easy on her and will prep some stuff. Also hoping to get a head-start on the November challenges.

Happy November! We ended up having around 250 kids stop by our house for Halloween. That's on the smaller side for our neighborhood, but we had fun. We don't decorate the outside of our house but we set up a seating area in the driveway and play Halloween songs on a speaker as we hand out candy. Our neighbor sets up a fire pit and grills on their BBQ for anyone who stops by. It's pretty impressive what they do, and they really draw a crowd, too! Ha. I just love that we live in a small town where people still feel safe to go trick or treating. We see lots of kids, and lots of parents, too. It's a fun social event.

Today Randy and I are going to a local chocolate fesitval. They're moving it from main street into a mall that has been struggling. It was a great call as today is supposed to be stormy. Randy is just happy to go sample chocolate! LOL!

WOW Shana- that's a lot of kiddos!! How exciting. We go out to the g'kiddo's house to be with them. At their old house [same subdivision] they got a ton of kids...of all ages....
Now that they've moved farther back in the development, and on a smaller cul de sac and at the end of it...very few kids any more. All together maybe 15, and that included ours plus the neighbors. Maybe 6 that made the effort to come on down.

I completed the knitted ballet leg warmers for my granddaughter. She helped sew the closure on the 2x2 ribbing that I chose to knit flat. She was super excited.
[get your own visual...] to go home today, she was wearing shorts, the ballet leg warmers, and ...a pair of pink converse high top tennis shoes. [Oh my!]

LOL Michi! When my daughter was a tween, I let her develop her own sense of "style" as long as her clothes were clean and fit her appropriately. Now that she's 25, she was looking back at photos and asked me why I let her leave the house dressed like that! LOL! Her style for a few months was to wear a zebra hair scrunchy, a nice top, and athletic basketball shorts. She would add in knee high socks that were purposely mismatched and then throw on some tennis shoes. She thought she was all that!

For those of you who live in areas that still have Daylight Savings Time, how are you adjusting this week? I've been waking up by 4:30 a.m. each day and I'm ready for bed by about 5 p.m.! HA!

I used to hate the time change but this year daylight saving time did not affect me as much since I am now retired.
Michi, Shana, I had a good chuckle with my visual of your kiddos...LOL

I am prepping today for a Christmas crafting day with my friend on Thursday, I have so much product from my early paper scrapping years and hoping to get it down by sharing.

(I forget what I posted where, so please forgive me if I repeat myself, lol!)

I started a new class yesterday, The Ancient World. This time I have 4 papers to do and plenty of reading. Whew! I will have to claw out time to scrap, but I will do it!

I loved reading the exploits of the kiddos too. One thing my oldest used to do in high school concerned his "uniform" of hoodie, shorts, and flip flops even in winter. A couple of times he set out to shovel snow like this too, before we "talked" to him. Luckily he's smarter now, though he tends to like it colder in his home, much to his wife's chagrin. :)

Happy Tuesday to all.
I'm doing the random challenge posted about completing albums , books etc. I decided #1 to finish was David's Rookie baseball [2019-2020]. There are many pages done but gaps. However, I did 2 today.

I'm happy y'all could 'get a visual' of her. Oh dear, I had no idea others had strong opinions on what to wear.

Took Sarah to dance and she was wearing her leg warmers! Now to complete the 'shrug'. Of course a pattern doesn't exist for the way she wants it.

My goodness the group is quiet! Just a few posts since the last time I was here. It sounds as though everyone is really busy and has a lot going on.

Just a quick catchup for me. I had my second eye surgery, so I won't be on the computer too long. My eyes are doing well, but not too much computer time. I have had a busy October. The 4th was a friend's wedding, then the next day my brother's 50-year HS reunion and a state board meeting of the Daughters of the British Empire. I also had my first eye surgery on 15th. My birthday party was on the 27th, followed by a meeting of the Western States with the Daughters of the British Empire. Then I had my second eye surgery.

I am pretty exhausted and enjoying the down-time that comes with a surgery haha! My eyes are doing very well and I am feeling in top health.

How's everyone doing this weekend?

Hubby got off early yesterday, so we did our shopping after he got home. So far today, I've had a nap and turned on my computer, lol! I need to do a little homework and maybe I'll scrap. I've got college football on in the background. Later tonight we have a watch party for our big rivalry game. My team is expected to win, but you never know with this opponent. We'll come home at about halftime, because we don't really want to be up until 1 or so to finish it off. Hopefully I won't be awake all night wondering if we won or lost!

Tomorrow we have church and choir practice for a big Christmas program. A nice, relaxing day. :)

I had some time to scrap today! I am pretty excited. I managed 6 pages (well, 7, but I exceeded the max you can post for the day because some were in multiple categories). AND I got a Bakers' Best nomination on one of them :) It was a lovely day...

Had a very productive day yesterday! Finally finished ALL of my Christmas cards. Due to several additional lists, I added about 50 names this year. Whew. So today (during the Vikings game, SKOL!) I'm starting the assembly line... cut/slice, sign and stuff and stuff and paste and paste and stamp and send! For those of you who haven't received one of my cards, I don't sign them so people can forward them on and let others enjoy as well. It's like passing on a hug.

IF any of you would like a handmade Christmas card (or birthday card), I love making cards and love adding more to my list... REALLY, I do. Just message me with your address and birth date! <3

Have a GREAT week.
Love and Blessings!

Lynnie, Congrats on the Baker's Best!

Yesterday, hubby and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary. We just stayed home, ordered dinner and watched the hockey game. Our Winnipeg Jets won again (they are currently sitting at #1 in the league). Hubby's cousins' grandson was at the game live and won the catch of Hellebuyck (Wpg's goalie) stick....we heard today that was so excited!!

I joined a FB group to make cards on my Cricut machine for Christmas as well as doing some handmade ones with my childhood friend. I also did a funny birthday card for another friend who will be celebrating her 65th birthday (the first one in our childhood friends group). We will be surprise celebrating with her on the 16th when we go to the legion for Chase the Ace.

Happy Anniversary!!

I spent yesterday at a Remembrance Service, amongst other things. The Consul General of Canada sent a delegate to speak at the service. We sang "O Canada" for him!

Lynnie, thanks, it was low key but a nice day.

That's awesome that you sang "Oh, Canada" for him. ):

I am prepping for another card making day and there is currently a Christmas Craft Countdown that has lots of free Cricut files. So far they look like there are some awesome projects, hopefully I can work on some of these and post some.

Hi all! Just a quick hello! Been traveling for work quite a bit and now I'm back in the office with a mountain of papers and contracts to sort through. Hope you all are having a great week! :)

I know it has been a long time since I popped in here. Life this year has been very crazy for me with 2 deaths in our families - Son-in-law in February and sister-in-law ( Ken's only sister) in July.
Now we are having troubles in our lovely craft store where Ken and I sell our crafts, because of the new committee in charge - not very nice at all - the Treasurer, Secretary, President re-elected in September all resigned because of the verbal bullying abuse they received from the new Vice-President. A normal meeting held last Saturday brought verbal abuse from this woman towards myself and another lady who has been part of the store for many years.

On a more positive note: starting next month I will be hosting in the Random Challenge section : Create Your Own Calendar Challenge.
I am hoping I receive more participation than what happened with the ATC challenge I have hosted ( last one this month).

I'm so sorry for your losses, Anne-Marie. And what a terrible environment for crafters! You would think that everyone involved for the benefit of the store would want to be friendly FOR the benefit of the store. So sad when people let their emotions overwhelm their thinking. Good luck to all of you. Big hugs.

Happy weekend to all!
Love and Blessings!

Hi everyone, I hope you all had good weekends!

I've been a little out of it because I was writing a paper all week. I get to write them every 2 weeks, even over Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a bit of a bummer, but oh well. I signed up for it, lol! I've been ok, with minor health challenges like a migraine and twisted ankle, so I haven't been able to walk like I want to. School seems to take up the greater part of my life these days--I'm so glad I can only take one class at a time!

Happy Monday, all. It's cold and rainy here today, so a good day to stay inside.

Anne-Marie, I'm so sorry for your losses and for having such a toxic person mess up what was a good thing for local crafters. Hopefully that person will move along, or maybe you could find another outlet. I try to remove myself from situations with toxic people when possible. I have one at my office that I'm stuck with, and I know how much energy those types of situations can take.

Ane, I hope you get to feeling better soon, and good luck with your current class. Love hearing how dedicated you are to your studies!

I had a good weekend... spent the entire Saturday at home and got a couple of pages scrapped and started working on one of the nephew's High School graduation album. On Sunday, I got see said nephew and another nephew who I hadn't seen since Christmas. So that was fun catching up. Then one of my besties was in a nearby town for her daughter's soccer tournament. So we got to hang out for a bit and go through the Disney 100 exhibit at the Kansas City Union Station. Did my heart good to see everyone yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great week!
