I'm so sorry I have been so absent lately. It has been so incredibly chaotic here with weddings, meetings, a reunion, and my birthday party that I don't know which way to turn.

First, I hope everyone is recovering from Milton and we have no losses. I am praying for those who are still recovering from Helene and have this to deal with. Please keep us posted.

Ane, I am so glad your husband found work elsewhere in his company and you don't have to work outside the home! That would have been a big adjustment for you!

Carla, I hope you get some pain relief soon.

Rae, welcome home :)

Karen, I got your card and it is gorgeous!! THank you :)

I have eye surgery on Tuesday. After that, I hope to get my party on a roll.

@Ane that is awesome about your husbands job
@Rae glad you enjoyed your cruise it sounds like you had a great time time

We are still evacuated due to lack of power. One of hubby’s contractors went by to check out the electric situation and we have a downed power line that impacts several streets. No ETA due to the rest of the outages in the area. I know gas and food shortages have been real as well. So this evacuation thing looking better than being back home right now

Where are you Ester???

Post a rainy summer and Hurricane Debi, Helene and now Milton... which was no fun by the way. WE [and our daughter's home] fared fine. We lost power for 48 hours. They did not but...a leak over the family room sliders and a loose window that almost went...

I actually slept thru it. [don't ask how]. All our refrigeration /freezer stayed fine thankfully, I bagged large ziplocks of ice and son in law brought large plastic bagged ice blocks. They worked! I'm ordering some.

Our subdivision though, did not fare well. Sadly at least 100 homes are about totally out of all contents [based on what is on the street] and I've zero clue how to construction to fix them. Plus one house caught fire and burned...it's totalled as well. The neighborhood has banded in support together.
We are not in any flood/ evacuation risk zone either!

School has been out since Monday Oct 7. My g'kiddo's are scheduled to return on Thursday. Rivers are still cresting, so we shall see. As of yesterday still 100 schools without power.

How my heart aches for all affected.

Esther, Michi and everyone affected by the weather, power outages, shortages, etc...hugs and prayers for improved situations and recovery.

Darrell is still sick, usually it's me that gets sick after a trip but this time it's him. Fingers crossed I stay healthy b/c it's just impossible when I get sick, trying to take care of the household stuff and the dogs. I'm back to eating clean and lots of veggies and good proteins. I enjoyed the yummy rich food on the trip but getting back into my normal routine feels so good. I never ate salad at the buffet on the ship, I am too paranoid about germs around all that open food so only grabbed a few things from there. Mostly I ate at the restaurants and ordered things from behind the glass cases, not out in the open.

I'm working on some CT stuff now, as much as I enjoyed the break for a few wks, it feels good to work on some pages now.

It's become sweater weather here now, which I love. Sweaters, sweat shirts, flannel shirts, jean jacket, scarves, ankle boots...my fave way to dress.

I PVR'd a lot of the new and returning tv shows while away so am enjoying binging every night. I think tonight I'll watch Brilliant Minds. Anyone see it yet? Like it?

I'm heading out to canasta in a few hours so better get some CT stuff done now. HAGD everyone.

The past couple of days, hubby and I have gone out just after sunset and took photos of the comet. The first day, we drove quite a ways out of town away from lights so we could find it. Then when we returned home, we realized we could see it just as well from our front porch! LOL!

Weather here has gone from summer to winter... so I've dusted off my vests and coats and I'm wearing lots of layers. It should be nice this afternoon, but I'm freezing right now. Time to make some coffee, if only to warm my hands. Hope everyone has a lovely day!

It is a little late, but Happy Thanksgiving, Sherri. I hope you had a fabulous day.

For all our scrappers and wafflers who are still struggling with the aftermath of Helene and Milton, my deepest sympathies. I can't even imagine. We must deal with earthquakes and fires in California, but hurricanes are scary and more frequent. I can't even imagine being without power for days. I am so spoiled.

Well, I have had one eye completed. I went in for the follow-up the day after, and they said my vision was better now with only one good eye than it was with my glasses on both eyes! I can drive now and I never have to wear glasses again. I am surprised at how good my vision is. I thought I would struggle with a blurred eye and a good eye, but I seem to have adapted quite well.

I was feeling a little unwell before I went in for the surgery and spent the rest of the day Tuesday and all day Wednesday feeling very unwell. I have a bit of a cough, which is not good for my eye, but I am trying to make sure I don't cough too much. My daughter Karen is babysitting today so I can get some rest. She is homeschooling also, so that is good. I am so proud of her.

Today is my first day on the computer. I won't be on here too long, though :) I don't want to strain my new eye :)

Happy Friday, all!

Thank you for the update, Lynnie!

There is not enough coffee in the world to get me going today. After work, I'm going to try to get all my steps in, then we have a surprise birthday party. Tomorrow will be an early morning as its another cross country meet for my nephew...this will be the last one I will get to see in his high school XC experience. My how time flies. Then I hope to spend the rest of the weekend working on layouts from our vacation. I've made progress, but have a lot more to accomplish.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and fantastic weekend.

I realized I haven't updated in a while. A paper for my class has been keeping me busy since Sunday. I haven't scrapped in a couple of weeks--I just haven't had the desire with this paper and all the things that go with it hanging over my head. I am waaay behind on it. It needs 10-12 pages an I've got less than 3. I need to have it done by Tuesday so I can make an abstract for it. Ugh. This is my month to need good vibes, I guess.

In other news, I got the covid, flu, and shingles vaccines yesterday. I don't know how wise that was because now my whole body aches. Crazy times I guess, and momentary insanity. At least I won't have to get the shingles one again--that was the 2nd dose.

Besides all that, things are good. After I turn in my paper on the 27th, this class ends. My next class starts a week after that. I am going to enjoy that week off! I'm gearing up to watch a football game tonight, and tomorrow is shopping and yardwork, church on Sunday.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

Happy Saturday everyone.

Lynnie- yay on the eyes! I'm loving mine. I do go back on Wednesday for what he refers to as a 'new windshield wiper]. But it's been almost 2 years so that's fine. My vision is still so much better than ever..

Hopefully everyone's illness are feeling better.

Ane- all the best with the paper.

I did flu and covid shots together.

Things are coming along here after the hurricanes. My home is totally fine, as my daughter's. Still so much devastation in the area. I've lived here 65 years and never experienced the likes of Helene and Melvin.

Kids are back in school. 8 days from school.

"Karen, I got your card and it is gorgeous!! THank you :)"

Glad you got it, I mailed early as I just got back from my Italy trip!

Whew, all caught up after returning last night from a dream trip...Italy is incredibly beautiful! I have so much to catch up on, laundry and home chores, kitty hugs and I am starting up with my fall/winter activities with my seniors group.

Hoping everything is well with you and your family's.

Happy Monday, all! We had a busy weekend with a surprise 60th bday party for a friend, a nephew's cross country race, a grade school soccer game (so fun to watch those little kids), lunch with my daughter, and spending a day with my brother, SIL, and two of their boys at the local amusement park! Whew! I'm almost glad to come to work today to rest! LOL!

The amusement park was... shall we say... interesting. They were having their Halloween event called "Haunt." During the day, it was fun to see all the attractions decorated for the season. Some of the restaurants even had new signs over the restaurant name to make them seasonally spooky. The weather was gorgeous, so the park was packed. I only went on one ride as most of my family loves roller coasters... and I do not. However, around 6 p.m., all of these fog machines were kicked on filling the park with fog. It was so dense we had trouble keeping our group together. As the sun set, park staff dressed up in creepy costumes and their job was to mingle with the guest and scare them. You could purchase a $15 light up ghost lanyard so they would leave you alone. Or you could do what Randy and I did... which was to go home! HA! The nephews loved it, so I'm glad they had a good time.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Our local theme park does that too, Shana. ValleyFair becomes ValleyScare. The kids (big and small) love it. I do NOT! One of our friends actually got her first job at ValleyScare and it worked into a fulltime job at the theme park and eventually a year-round fulltime job for the company until she got married and moved WAY up north. They really do it up "right". Not for me though. I'm with you.

I've read everything, but we've been on vacation for the last geeeeez, six days and I'm playing hooky today. We're headed home today. It's just so gorgeous still up here. The leaves are just finishing peak and the weather has been absolutely stunning. Actually warm for this time of year. Yesterday was 70! October in MN should be about 50. Our Vikings lost yesterday, but only by 1 point. Still they shot the undefeated record. So sad.

Can't remember if I told you that I did finally get cortisone shots and my knees feel great. Thank God! I'm looking around for a second opinion from another surgeon for eventual replacement. Not looking forward to that, but I know it has to be done sometime. In the meantime, this is working. Haven't been in pain all week. Sleeping great and haven't had to use my cane except for shopping and longer walks... did you hear that? LONGER WALKS! Yes, I'm walking longer lengths! YAY!

So that's about it for me.
Glad everyone is doing well. (I think)
Love and Blessings to all.

I just got back from a vacation in Tennessee visiting cousins. We had cousins come from Seattle, California, Florida, New York (me) and Tennessee (the host). Eleven in all. We thought it would be fall foliage at this time but it was just starting, probably due to the dry summer. She lives on a lake so the scenery was fabulous either way.

I'm still experiencing PHN (Postherpetic Neuralgia) due to shingles. I'm the lucky one (15% do) who has the horrific nerve damage. I wouldn't wish this debilitating pain on my worst enemy. Lot's of people I've been talking to have heard about it or know someone that has it. It's one of those things where everyone does not get relief from the same combination of medicines. I haven't found my magic combination yet.

I have no time left to take off of work if I have another flare. I may have to apply for FLMA (family leave... I can take intermittent time off with that). Hopefully I'm one of the lucky few that it only lasts one year and not have this for the rest of my life.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Miss being involved but life gets in the way.

LilyAnn, So sorry to hear about your illness. My grandmother and brother had shingles and it is so debilitating so I had the shingles shot last year in hopes not to get it. Prayers to heal quickly!

Karen, good to see you again! I'm glad you enjoyed Italy. I hope to get over there sometime. Hubby has promised!

Shana, I hope you are having a good week too! I am doing ok.

LilyAnn, shingles is awful! I think I told you my youngest brother has it. He was one of the unlucky ones with the extra nerve damage and is in constant pain. No pain meds work for him either. I just had my 2nd shingles vaccine, and just the vaccine was awful. I can't imagine having constant pain. Here's hoping yours doesn't last longer than a year!

Me, I have been writing a long paper for class. I finished it yesterday, but it is super rough. It's due Sunday, so I have time to fix it with my hubby. He's been an awesome editor so far. I helped him with his master's papers so now he is returning the favor. In addition to that stress, I've had a very rough period (looking forward to menopause) and a migraine for 2 days. Other than that, life is peachy (no, it really is)! I get a week off between terms and have a new class starting the 4th. Yippee! Progress!

I hope you all are having a better week than me! :)

Sorry been playing catch up and dealing with hurricane clean up. I'm in South Tampa, we are a block in from the bay. Gandy and Macdill is the closest (most well known) intersection. Flooding wasn't so bad with Milton, but the oaks down is a tad crazy. We do have confirmed roof damage. We think we know where the water got in in my crafting space. I'm hoping to have the crafting space up and running again soon.

Sorry to hear about your neighborhood. It is sooo hard. Hugs. Let me know if there is anything I can help with.

LilyAne- I hope you find a solution. I've had success with essential oils. Mostly Frankincense.

Oh Ester, I am familiar with your area. And yes, S. Tampa can get it plus all the old oak trees. I think those were a problem for most everyone - all over.
We are in N. Tampa- Carrollwood/Northdale area. Hoping your crafts are fine and any damages are minimal.

I had my eye procedure yesterday. It is called YAG Capsulotomy. I'm 2 years after cataract surgery. The doctor likened it to needing a new windshield wiper. I thought I was fine, but wow what a clearer difference! So, if ever recommended for you, don't hesitate. Super quick [about 3 min]. zero pain. Just see some red dots and hear clicks.

Off to scrap!

Happy Friday, everyone! We had a storm come through our area last night and now the automatic lights in our office are akin to a disco party. I'm the only one here today, so I've opted to work in the dark. Ha.

Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

Ane, Great job on making progress in your schooling. Keep it up and you will be a graduate in no time!

Ester, Glad to hear that your flooding wasn't too bad. I could not imagine having hurricane season every year. We do get frigid winter weather here in Canada but at least we can bundle up or stay cozy indoors. Hoping you get your crafting space back soon.

Michi, I have a lot of eye disease in our family and had my cataracts surgeries when I was 50 yrs old. My Mother suffered with poor vision all her life (first cataract surgery at 4years and second at 13years, followed by a retina detachment in her 40's and immaculate degeneration in her 60's), I have come to cherish sight more than most people do. Hoping your surgery will be beneficial!

Shana, I would do the same thing, that must be awful with those lights going.

Hi to everyone else that I may have missed.

My only plans for the weekend revolve around cleaning my house and yard, I have been away so much it is seriously neglected. But first a bike ride with my bestie today.

Popping in really quick to let you all know that GS will be down for a few hours this afternoon/evening. We are undergoing some server maintenance. So I didn't want you to panic when you try to log in and we are down :)

Shana, I am walking a 5K Saturday morning! I must be nuts but i get a free mug, hot cider, and caramel apple. Worth it! And I will continue finessing my paper so I can turn it in Sunday. :)

Thanks for the heads up Ginger!

Ane, I am so proud of you! Both at school and a 5K... holy cats! Keep it up.

Michelle, so glad you're seeing WELL again. Amazing what they can do now. Spooky, but amazing.

Shana, I hear ya and would be the same. We have a ceiling fan in the kitchen where I have my home office/play space and if one of the lights starts to flicker it drives me nutz! Tammie (my bestie) has to get up there asap to change before I hurt something. HA!

All I'm doing this weekend is playing with paper. I sometimes wish it was scrapbooking again, but it's real paper and card-making. I have an entire day today of online zooms with ladies from all over the world starting at 10EST. It's called Creativate and put on by this super-fun, super-funny quad of ladies. So, I'm off to Creat-i-vate some fancy-pantsy greeting cards. See ya!

Love and Blessings!

Stopping in to say hi.

‘’I got my Covid and fly vaccines yesterday.

‘’looking forward to hearing about Italy karen.

‘’Carla glad you are feeling some better.

‘’I’m still sidelined with an unknown prognosis to what kind of life I’ll live. One day, each day, I’ll I’m doing.

Good morning ladies. We got home from holidays and Darrell had a virus and it turned into pneumonia so hasn’t left the house yet but he’s on the mend now. I’ve got the sweats, sinus infection and laryngitis ever since getting the pneumococcal shot and flu shot last wk. I’m sure it’s not related but it started right after 3 days of sore arm and chills from the shots. I had a busy wk but now am staying home for a few days, will rest my voice and hopefully kick this. I’m enjoying the new shows on tv. Brilliant Mind and Doctor Odyssey I really like.

I tried to skim thru the personals.

LilyAnn so sorry to hear how bad your shingles are. I was lucky, mine last year cleared up in a few months.

Esther - sorry to hear of the water damage.

I’m going to go get some CT work done and then lay down for the afternoon, binge some shows.

Hi Sherri, it is nice to see you here. I am hoping things improve with your health. I was surprised to hear from Alexis and I can't wait for her visit to Winnipeg in the new year!
