What's going on in YOUR life ! :)

Still working frantically on my nieces wedding - her shower is this weekend and my daughter is on her way home from Nashville to be there. Family is coming out from England for the wedding - it will be wonderful.

How exciting! My husband is in Newfoundland for one of his cousin's weddings (the only other family member to own a Sphynx). I couldn't go with him as I'm still recovering from major surgery and I'm prepping for my PhD start!

I hope you are recovering from your surgery - it has been a while, I hope you are feeling better. It surprises me sometimes how quickly the body heals for some things and how terribly slowly for other. I had a little fall last November and I still limp and my shoulder is always sore. I can't even imagine how long to recover from what you have gone through.

I hope your PhD prep is going well. We were so excited for you when you got into the program you wanted.

My son and his wife own a Sphinx. She is lovely, her name is Serenity.

Still preparing for my son's wedding, now in 8 days! I'm trying not to go nuts about all the little details and things that could go wrong and focus on the things that are happening right, like all the friends helping us. The wedding is over 3 hours from here, so we have to race back here after that in order to make sure things are ok for the reception. Ahh!

I would be going crazy - you seem so relaxed about everything.

Ooh! Lots of wedding! So exciting to see layouts with wedding pictures!

I know, right! How much fun it is to get all the pictures to scrap...

I am going crazy, on the inside. No, seriously I have good friends doing a lot of the work for me. My main task is the table centerpieces. I've no idea what traditional "mother of the groom" stuff is but that's what I'm doing.

Hi everyone, I drop in when I can, but life has been crazy.

My elderly mom needs a higher higher level of car than the lodge we moved her to in march, so we have been trying to keep her safe, and find a new place for her. It won't unfortunately be in our city, which sucks. Two days ago I got a call from the transit authority in our city that mom had been aimlessly riding buses looking for where I lived. For hours, while the city was under a heat warning. Finally a bus driver got really worried called his supervisor, and they found my number attached to her walker and called me. This is the third or fourth time something like this has happened.

My daughter is having a bad sideeffect from her surgery a month ago and is suffering severe nerve pain. Poor kid can't catch a break. She writes her grade 12 math diploma exam on the 8th. Then gets a couple weeks of no school.

Im treading water trying to keep my head above ground.

Oh Sherri, that's a lot to deal with. I hope things improve for you soon. Take care.

I need to be better about dropping in. I do drive by's a lot - check for a few minutes and say that I will answer later, and later never seems to come.

Life has been beautiful, and crazy, and normal. LOL

I'm experimenting with different styles of scrapping, but I'm not getting anywhere. I signed up for a class about finding your inner artist, but I haven't been able to do it as I don't have the book yet, and I'm 6th on the list at the library. GAH!

That book sounds interesting Susan! What's the title of it?
Love the quote in your siggy!

Hi everyone!

I am starting my last vacation week before getting back to work next Friday. I always have mixed emotions about getting back to work.

Today (Friday) I have been doing lots of fun things! I have sewn a top for myself, went for a run and gave my dog a bath!
My goal is to do as many nice and fun things as possible before starting work again!

It's Called "The Artist's Way"

This book is designed to help you to reignite your inner artist, recover your creativity and let the divine energy flow through you as you create your art. This book has been recognized as one of the top 100 best self-help books of all time. It is a journey of creative recovery and inspiration.

I think I'm going to wind up just buying it because I'm so far behind in the class - they're on like week 5 or 6 now!! UGH

I'm so excited for you. Weddings are so nerve wracking and having to drive 3 hours back and forth is not going to be fun. Where is the wedding at? Columbus?
Can't wait to see your pictures!!

Oh Sherri, I am so sorry. My mother is heading in that direction and I am dreading it. It all goes so fast. One day they are 55 and running their own business, being a single mom to 4 kids and the next......She is 81 and can't remember where she was heading. At least she isn't wandering around in a heat wave. Thank goodness for caring bus drivers.

So sorry about your daughter too. I hope she does well on her exam and can take advantage of the no school break. Recovery is hard.

What a fabulous idea. We all need to treat ourselves a little bit better and do as many nice and fun things as possible for ourselves and those around us.

I cleaned my house today. Does that count as nice and fun? Hahaha

So sorry to hear about your discouraging life events, Sherri. Makes me feel fortunate that I only have a 4-5 mile drive to check on my father in a care home and my mom is a mile away. Nerve pain is such an annoying pain and pain pills don't really help to target that kind of pain- although considering your daughter's age- pain pills probably wouldn't be recommended. I don't know where her pain is located but I experienced a band of nerve damage pain across the small of my back after a spinal fusion surgery- it was worse than the actual surgery area pain. The only thing I found that help quite a bit was a thick wide banded girdle- the compression pressure from it provided a lot of relief. Maybe she could try an ace wrap or some type of compression clothing if the location would allow for something like that.

It's three in the morning and the neighbors party around a backyard fire is still going strong getting lots of scrapping done.

Yikes...been a few weeks since I popped in here! I think it took this long for me to recover from our trip to Disneyland! Lynnie, hopefully you're not still feeling too traumatized! lol :)

Catching up on me, this past week I went on 2 job interviews at the same place. First interview was the standard interview stuff with HR and the person whose team I would be in. Second day I was invited back to meet some of the higher up people and to shadow the person whose role I would be taking over since she is being promoted. They told me they will make a decision on late Monday afternoon, so keep your fingers crossed for me! :)

Oh, and my kids are on vacation with their father for 3 weeks....it's just me and the dog and a whole bunch of scrapping to catch up on!

I'm new but I'll be trying to keep up with this thread. Some happy things like weddings! I'll be thinking of you Sherri. Sounds like you have a lot going on and struggle with juggling, that's for sure. My grandchildren are gone for a week so no exciting outings while babysitting and lots of extra time to scrap.

Mother of the groom usually does the rehearsal dinner, but traditions are changing. I hope all goes well, that you get an amazing daughter in law and that you have a great time at the wedding. Looking forward to the layouts.

My father-in -law was like that. We eventually found a home for him, it was tough going and it broke my heart, but it was better for him and he was happier there, less stressed.

I need to be better about dropping in. I do drive by's a lot - check for a few minutes and say that I will answer later, and later never seems to come.

I need something like that. I look at my layouts and they all look the same. I need some inspiration.

Made me go back and look! It was an awesome quote, thanks for noticing. I need to be observant like that.

My mother is 90 and still working. I think I am losing it a little more than she is :) I am so blessed. My dad, though, was a little loopy before he died. He kept calling his new(er) wife by my mother's name.

What a fabulous idea. We all need to treat ourselves a little bit better and do as many nice and fun things as possible for ourselves and those around us.

I cleaned my house today. Does that count as nice and fun? Hahaha

ONLY if you love houseworkd.

Not even a little traumatized, Sarah. I had a lovely time with you and the kids. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I hope they are well and enjoying their time with their dad. I also hope you enjoy your time alone!

Good luck with the jobs!! :)

Sherri, I was thinking of you today and was going to send a message and it didn't happen. Here it is 2 am struggling with sleeplessness yet again & bumbling around the site. I never seen to get around to following this thread. I'm so sorry Ashley is struggling after her surgery, I was so hoping for smooth sailing for her and for the rest of your family. Do the Mayo docs have any advice? They have a pain management department I would think they could offer help. I've had 24/7 back pain for the past 16 years and I know how wearing constant pain can be. Kids shouldn't have to deal with that. I hope someone finds an answer for you soon.

You don't have to keep up :) Just post when you are in the mood. I am all about relaxed participation!

I know I answered the bit about your mum earlier. I don't think I mentioned your daughter and I meant to. It must be so hard for you. I really hope that we can help encourage you to 'swim!' Struggling with so many things is hard, but if you have friends shouting encouragement along the sides of the race, sometimes it can give you the extra umph to make it through.

Even this wonderfully encouraging post made me smile with your 'bumbling around the site!" You are definitely one of my favourite people!
