Everyday Chatting and Waffling - AUGUST Let's get to know each other more!

Poking my head in here after being nudged by Lynnie....how is everyone? I'm finishing up almost 3 weeks of not having the kids because they are on vacation with their father. I haven't been scrapping but I have taken up working out twice a week...my back has really been bothering me and it's about time I worked on my core to support my back more, so it has been more physical therapy than a workout. Still on the hunt for a job...I've been on 2 interviews for jobs but haven't been chosen yet. I have a third interview next week, so fingers crossed!

Great to hear from you. Get scrapping on those Disney pictures in your spare time! You will have so much fun.

Good luck on the job search... and you will feel so much better when you work on your back...

Take pictures, Heidi, at some point, if you are smart, you just accept how you look and love the friendship that is framed in the camera :) It doesn't really matter how we look, it is the love and friendship that is reflected in our smiles and our eyes.

You know, you are so right. We are both horrible at taking selfies but I asked this really nice guy at the Jordan River Temple to take our picture together. It really isn't great. Bad angle, bad lighting and the wind was blowing like crazy so my hair is all over my face but you can see us smiling with our arms around each others waists. It is a happy picture even if neither of us look great in it.

What's everyone up to this weekend? Me, I slept in too late then finally got up and did some shopping. Tomorrow I've got church and we're having some friends over for dinner. :)

I have been really busy the last month or two. We have decided to move and have been going through all our trash and treasures. The last two weekends we have had a moving/estate sale and sold most of our stuff. I will still need to go throug what I kept and maybe get rid of half of it. We are only moving about 5 miles away but my son is renting us a 2 bedroom home on his property right next to them. We have had lots of help from our family with the sale and it was very successful. It is always great to read up on what everyone is doing.

My new photobook came from the mail today and I'm so happy with it! I had it printed from shutterfly two weeks ago when they had a 40% sale plus unlimited pages (although there was a limit of until 91 pages, guess because of the binding). My daughter will have her 1st day of school tomorrow and I have already prepared her things and clothes for the third time today, I'm not excited, I was just looking for summer and why it is over.

Yesterday I picked up my new glasses, they are "old people" glasses.:D In other words, progressives. So I am spending today getting used to them while plotting out my schedule for the next semester. My PhD program started with an intensive on-site last week - 4 long days of orientation, starting classes, and meeting incredible people in my cohort and the two cohorts ahead of us. Now I need to plan out my schedule to fit in my studies, assignments, TA duties, Cookie duties here, and CT duties here and for the 3 designers I CT for (who are also all here at GingerScraps). I'm "only" taking 3 classes, and I can drop that to 2 if I need to, but the extra class doesn't cost any extra tuition, and I love learning, so I figure why not if I can handle it.

Using a Pomodoro technique app to make sure I take breaks while remaining focussed while I'm actually doing work.

They are only "old people" glasses if you put them in "old people" frames, you wear rockin' "growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional" frames like mine and you have the admiration of every age spectrum imaginable and not just females hehe

Happy Thursday everyone. Back to school for the g'kiddo's here. It's been busy. Traffic is awful!!!

Good luck with the move Katherine.

I'm over the heat like many of you are. We've had some wicked storms [daily] lately.

I've been scrapping and trying to organize things on my hard drives. What a task.
Yesterday the garage door springs broke and I couldn't get out to get the g'kiddo's. Called son in law. He took the day off and dealt with both and 2 schools to boot.

The Garage door is now fixed to the cost of $1,214.00 - sigh, but work was needed.

I've been having fun sewing.

Cooler here for a few days. Awful storms a few days ago but we were spared.

Inquiring mind wants to know what you are sewing hehe

...and it is all in the phrasing. If I fall over, I fall over....I don't "have a fall", having a fall is for old people:D

Gearing up for the long weekend here. Hubby has taken tomorrow off, so I'll have him and DD around for 4 days, yes!

Caylynn, I'm in my mid-40's so not far off from progressives myself. You're in good company! :D

Hi everyone, I often troll here but never seem to comment. I was intrigued with the title of this book so I found it at the local library. I have been wanting to try my hand at creative journaling but feel overwhelmed at starting. Thanks Susan!

It's Called "The Artist's Way"

This book is designed to help you to reignite your inner artist, recover your creativity and let the divine energy flow through you as you create your art. This book has been recognized as one of the top 100 best self-help books of all time. It is a journey of creative recovery and inspiration.

I think I'm going to wind up just buying it because I'm so far behind in the class - they're on like week 5 or 6 now!! UGH

Well, mine aren't super-funky - my corner of academia is rather conservative and I do have to look professional when teaching and attending conferences and such, but they do have a bit of flair! I like them!
