Do you use your cellphone as your main source to take photos?

I mainly use my Nikon DSLR camera for taking photos, but there are times that I don't want to haul a big camera around. I'm interested in learning what cellphone models take the best photos.

If you use your cellphone as your main camera, I'd love to hear what you find works best for you! :) Thank you!

I have come to depend on my cell phone more and more but only because it is right at my finger tips and easy to get a quick shot. When I go out to on a photo walk or a ride, I depend on my Cannon Eos 90D to get the shots.

I have a Samsung Z fold phone and the camera has a 30 zoom and a portrait function. I also takes exceptional night photos.

I am happy with my iPhone 12 pro max but I saw my daughter's phone, the 14, and that is even better. I'm still on the fence as to whether I'll get the 14 this summer or wait and get the 15 when it comes out in the fall. The price will be a factor too, so possibly the 14 will suit my needs. I do use my phone for lots of candids so the camera is important to me. So much easier than lugging around the big cameras.

I accidentally left my camera home when I went to Arizona. I did have it shipped to me and got it three days later. I did use my phone for flowers and landscapes but it just does not have the zoom for birding. I have the Samsung 10e and it took okay photos.

I have the iPhone 13 pro max and it's my primary camera. I'm not great with my big Nikon, so I always get better pictures with my phone. The low light and zoom have gotten so much better since my previous phone (iPhone 8 Plus) I think it would depend on what you want to take photos of. I've gotten really great portrait and macro shots with my phone, and I love the wider angle lens. But if you want to take amazing bird photos like Katherine, a big camera would probably still be better.

What I've found with my phone is that I actually enjoy spending time with my photos. I have iCloud, so I have access to all of my photos anywhere I go. My phone has helped me tremendously with CT assignments (need a beach photo for a beach kit? Do a search on your phone and there are lots of them, spanning many years) My phone reads text in photos so I can search for photos that way too. Every day my phone gathers up a set of photos and makes a little video for me. which are so fun to share, either by sending the video to someone or adding the photos to my list of things to scrap. If there is a funny quote or story that goes with a photo, I can add it to the metadata right thee on my phone. I interact with my photos so much more on my phone than I ever did on my big camera. It's something I enjoy doing almost every day.

I only use my cell phone and while it doesn't have the best zoom options I am amazed at the quality of photos I can get with my phone. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and have heard that more recent iPhones take even better photos. My phone now has higher quality photos than my last digital camera that I bought. For me the huge advantage is that I literally always have my phone within reach so it is makes it much easier to snap a quick photo without losing time to run to get a regular camera and get it "set up".

I use my phone only! I have a Samsung Galaxy 22 (don't hate me you Apple lovers!). It takes amazing pictures but my Husband has the Galazy 22 ultra and his pictures just blow me away! I will going to the ultra next time I upgrade! His zoom is outrageous! Also, he has many photos of firefighting training and he can capture water spray. Gorgeous pictures. I went to only using my phone because it is so much quicker and I can post right away to social media. I am lazy...lol!

Shana, I am a little late to the game here, but I use my phone for every day pictures and my camera for special events. This last few holidays I have just taken my camera. I agree with Katherine, though, that if you need a zoom on your pictures, the camera is the way to go. I also use an app for the iPhone called Camera+. It takes amazing macro pictures and has some interesting settings. I always use it for flowers :)

What's a camera? LOL! I bought a really nice camera about 4 years ago. Than I got a new phone and my camera is in the closet somewhere. I only use my phone for photos. When I went on vacation last year I took my camera with me but never used it. The phone is what I use!

Yes I've gone to the dark side too and although I have an amazing, very expensive, camera I would say 90% of my photos that I scrap have been taken by my phone.

Same here. I have a very expensive canon camera but I use my phone. I have a samsung S22 but DH have a S23 and does magic with his phone.

I don't even own a real camera and haven't for years. I have an Apple 13 pro max. I've always kept up with the new phones because of the camera. I'm going to be getting the 14 pro max soon. I get the pro max because of the size. I think the bigger size helps me take better photos.

I also have a very nice dslr nikon that I love, but because my phone is literally always on me...95% of my photos are from my iphone 12 pro max. I am amazed at the quality.

My iPhone is my primary - at the moment! Doesn't compare to my Rebel. My Rebel is my preferred but needs the shutter cleaned as it got grains of sand in it on my last outing at the beach.

I use my cell phone a lot and really enjoying the iPHONE Photo class I'm taking online.

I think my iPhone 14 ProMax takes better pictures than my old Canon camera. I can't zoom in as much, but I can carry it in my pocket.
