Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I love commenting on layouts in the gallery - I feel as though they all have something to say about the people who scrapped them and I love that. There are some absolutely outstanding scrappers who take my breath away, though. I thought your Eclipse one was amazing, Sherri, absolutely amazing.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

What a day! I spent the morning downloading, cataloging and unzipping my prizes - tough job, but someone has to do it :) Then I got ready for a friend's funeral. I went to high school with her. She missed our 45th reunion because she was sick, but we all spoke to her that day. She went through so much treatment and stuff - but it was not to be. She was the sweetest person. We were not really close friends, but I cared a lot. There were 10 people from my class attending. That is not a bad count after 45 years. I hope some of my high school friends make it when I pop my clogs. I carpooled with a couple of friends. The memorial service was an hour away and the after gathering was another hour away. I got home just in time to pick up the tickets and my camera for my husband's play. I am absolutely shattered. Another day without scrapping!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I had a great church service then came home for lunch and a quasi nap. Later I get to talk to my son about why Wednesday is a terrible day for a wedding. He is so stubborn about this that I hope we can make some headway with his fiancee on the line too. She's a lot more reasonable.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I love your Project 52 layouts - do you print them up? I did for the first time - I have 2016 and 2017 printed in 8x8.

Thank you!! I love making the layouts and looking back. When the kids say, "what did we do on a certain day, etc" I can say.... hmm, let's look! haha!

I print the pages at home and stick them in 8x8 albums. Here is from 2015, totally complete!!
I slacked on 2016 since we were gone for a month on vacation and I never got a chance to catch up.
I'm almost done with 2107- I should just crank them out soon. I think I still need about 2 months for 2017
And I'm pretty on track with 2018, just a few weeks behind.

Wednesday is a horrible day for a wedding - but on the flip side you will save a fortune at the reception in the people who cannot attend!!

that is awesome!! I should print them at home too! I may be the bound books though!!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I use to print the books at home and then decided to check into the cost of printing at home vs. printing services vs, books. I found if you want until book sales it is cheaper to print books. The most expensive was printing at home. I put all new ink in my printer and counted how many pages before the ink was gone and the paper used. It was much more. I even got my photo paper on sale.

That is so true, Katherine!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I would rather print online, but since I scrap in word and save the image in paint, the resolution is horrible. I don't mind printing at home and sticking in books. This way I can print when I want and I can rearrange when I need. I don't print too many out, just vacation and PL books.

You scrap in Word?? How do you do drop shadows, etc...?

Wait WHAT? You scrap in word? And save the image in PAINT? Please explain - you are such a fabulous scrapper. I can't believe you do what you do in Word and Paint! Please tell me that is not so. You are fabulous now, you would be terrifyingly good if you had the right tools.

Does it print out ok?

I print books...when I get there. So far behind.

Yes- Yes Ma'am she does. And I taught scrapping in word long ago. I much prefer Photoshop, but our Emscraps ROCKS!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Oh MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! I am so impressed. I cannot tell you how impressed I am. I am flabbergasted, gobsmacked, bowled over.

That blows me away. I can see using InDesign, but word and paint?? LOL

Daaaaaang! Girl, that rocks! I can't even imagine using Word and Paint, but gosh, more power to you!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I use word for my journaling, mostly so I get spelling correct. Then I copy and paste into PSE

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

That is what I do most of the time. I hate it when I spell something wrong and catch it after I have plastered the page all over FB and digital sites.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I've been trying to scrap - I have a million photos - great photos and none I feel like scrapping. What on earth is wrong with me.

As soon as you find a name for it let me know would you please? If I don't start moving soon, Grace will find me at one of her archaeological digs. I'm a mess.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Good morning everyone! Thank you!! :kisses

Yes, I scrap in Word and save in Paint, lol... I'm pretty used to it, so it goes by quickly. I can get a layout done in less than 30 min if I'm really motivated. There are a variety of shadow options, I'm learning what works best in different situations. In the beginning it was really bad, haha!

The things I can't do are blending and paper clipping. There are a few shapes in word that are preset, but other than that, I have to free-hand shapes (which take forever!), so I tend to not use templates that require unique shapes.

When I print from Word it prints wonderfully, great resolution. I just can't print the jpg that was saved in Paint. It's 600x600 pixels and usually less than 200kb.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I am so incredibly impressed. Have you ever thought about getting Photoshop or Photoshop elements and seeing what you can do with that? Obviously the use of Word has not impaired your scrapping skills, but there are so many tools that could expand your horizons.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I need to change my siggie. That's one of the things I am TERRIBLE about doing.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I used to have PS, that's how I started some digi scrapping. But when I changed computers, I lost the program, it was super, duper old anyway, lol.. But now, they seem so expensive and it seems subscription based. I'm happy with Word, it's worked for me. I don't have the time to learn a new program right now anyway... nor the $, lol.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I need to change my siggie. That's one of the things I am TERRIBLE about doing.

My "scrampled" brain had just decided if I don't get anything else done today, besides moving the load of wash from the washer-which sang it's I'm done tune over an hour ago-to the dryer--it will be to make a new siggy. I've been sitting here for at least an hour now thinking about it. (and adding a couple of things to my shopping cart) I love my Pops, but my siggy was made in November.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

LOL, I haven't changed my siggy since Feb 2016 :)
